I've been going here for years and the freshness of the food is hard to beat as well as how accommodating they are. My go to is the zucchini parmigiana, the pasta they give is lightly creamy and very garlicy with fresh spinach and tomatoes and I couldn't recreate the recipe even if I tried. Tried their Asian salad recently and sesame vinaigrette has a unique wasabi freshness. Huge portions for side salads. Definitely gonna try more of their salads soon. I wanted to enjoy my experience at The Orchard, and overall the salad was good. I initially asked for kombucha, but I was told they were completely out. Thankfully, my server did allow me to substitute the sesame chicken into my Cobb salad, and that was actually a great addition. The frustrating part was that after we had already finished our meals and were ready to leave, my server came back and told me she had been mistaken and that they did, in fact, have kombucha available. At that point it was too late, and unfortunately there wasn't any offer made to make up for the inconvenience. Another disappointment was learning that The Orchard does not offer any type of military appreciation or support. In a community with many veterans and military families, that was something I noticed and found disappointing. Many other local businesses make an effort to show appreciation, and that kind of support goes a long way for those who have served and for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The food was good, but with so many other options in Frederick that offer great food while also making customers and the community feel valued, I don't think I'll be returning. The soup was tasty, the onion rings crispy and the tuna was ok not a true melt since the tuna was cold with a slice of cheese on top. We LOVE the orchard. Their concept is so simple. Basically make any sandwich, salad, or stir fry and choose which topping you will get. They are very gluten free, vegan, vegetarian friendly, but also not branded as that kind of restaurant. We got a variety of stir fry's at the table and everyone loved theirs. I would say I'd order mine again next time, but there are so many good ones to try! My kids also loved their food. My son was not happy with the basil in the kids marinara, calling it spicy, and they got him butter noodles instead, no questions asked. The server was quick and very friendly. Taste was very good, doesn't taste like just soy sauce, has a depth of flavor. Ordered it with rice noodles. Half the dish was veggies and they used grilled tofu, instead of the crispy tofu on the menu to accommodate my allergies. We went last night, and the experience was mixed. The atmosphere and servers were great. The food was interesting, but not what we originally expected. My dish, a stir fry bowl with tofu, was tasty. One guest got the jambalaya and it lacked flavor and the expected sausage. Instead it contained chunks of salmon. My second guest got a stir fry bowl that was too salty for her taste. This restaurant was cute and quaint. Very busy for a Tuesday midday lunch. They have lots of seating and outdoor seating it available. The staff are very nice and approachable. There is an interesting variety of food. From kabobs (special of the day), to Asian stir fry, to sandwiches, salads and soups. I ordered the southwest chicken sandwich which was pretty good. Lots of avocado, loved the sauce, and chicken was not overly heavy though crispy. The onion rings were a downfall for me. The onions weren't fully cooked in the middle, cold when they came out, and the batter was super thick. My friends both liked their mushroom pesto sandwich and tuna salad sandwich. Downtown Fredrick is charming and full of good places to eat. The food at The Orchard is delicious and a meal there will not disappoint. But the real reason you should go is their chocolate mousse is in a category of its own. We stopped by during the downtown Frederick festival around 2:30pm and it was crowded. We waited 5 minutes for a table and were seated on the first floor. They also have tables outside as well. Travis was our waiter and he was excellent. Everything we ate was so fresh! The soups that we enjoyed were the tomato bisque and the split pea; both were excellent. I had the chickpea feta salad with grilled salmon which was a huge portion. The bread that was served on the side was so fresh and you could tell it was homemade. My mom had a chicken dish that was on the entrees section of their menu. The sauce on her dish was a little salty but overall, delicious. I didn't love the savingion blanc that we ordered, too sweet for my liking. Most of the sandwiches and salads were $13-$20 and the entrees were $20-$30. For lunch, this spot was great! We stumbled upon The Orchard in Frederick while running errands, and we're so glad we did! We were craving something fresh and healthy--salads and sandwiches--and this place had amazing reviews. It absolutely lived up to the hype! The bread is made in-house and was incredibly fresh. I had the tuna salad sandwich, which was delicious, and my husband ordered the chicken salad with a side of coleslaw--honestly the best coleslaw we've had in a long time. My mom went with the veggie salad and loved it. A nice surprise was the kombucha on tap--we tried the mango peach flavor and it was super refreshing. On top of the great food, the service was excellent. Linda took care of us and was so sweet and knowledgeable. We'll definitely be back. Positives - Service was good, Ambiance is good, the water for the tea was really hot! Con's- The hot and sour soup was vinegar with bits floating in it. I know it is not for everyone. My crispy tofu was burnt. It had not been marinated, seasoned or taken up any of the flavors of the dish. The dish was supposed to be Thai based, but obviously, the person running the stove does not taste what they are making. Otherwise , they would have realized there wasn't any lime juice or seasoning in my food. My wife's salmon had cream of cranberry sauce on top of it. It looked like the cat got sick on it. A very solid vegetarian-friendly choice in downtown Frederick! I stopped in for lunch with my wife the other day while we were visiting. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. Even though it was busy, the wait for a table was short and the food appeared at our table instantly. As for the food, it was SO nice to get entrees with REAL veggies in them--rather than the "value engineered" dishes that we see at so many of the large restaurant groups. My salad was full of cucumbers, carrots, pickled onions, leafy greens, chickpeas and feta cheese. I added on some grilled chicken for my protein. It was a bit dry and could've used a little more seasoning, but I'm nitpicking here. My wife, the pescatarian in our family, got the Indonesian stir-fry with blackened salmon. Delicious!! She enjoyed it thoroughly, as did I! She was kind enough to share some with me. The dining room decor was bright and colorful. I enjoyed the art on the walls and everything went together nicely. We stopped by for an early dinner after viewing the lighted boats in Carroll Creek. Our party of three was seated at a four-top after about 20 minutes. One of our party carries her diabetes supplies in a small backpack that she placed on the unused chair. Our server took the order quickly and the food arrived a reasonable time later. About half way through our meal, the door greeter came by, said she needed the chair, rudely dumped our party's backpack upside down on her lap, and pulled away the chair. Then our server stopped by several times to take away plates while we were still eating from them. After I tendered a credit card to pay for the meal, the server returned my card with the slip saying that he had accidentally charged another patron's meal to my card but had requested a refund. What would have been a nice meal was spoiled by rude and inefficient service. I can't recommend The Orchard. read more

They were very accommodating with our large party and we didn't have to wait very long to be seated. When you walk on the place is nicely decorated and it was loud but not overbearing. We had some seniors in our party with hearing aides and they seemed to do ok with the environment. Our waitress was not great. I have only esteem there once and will give it another try as friends have really liked it. However I was quite disappointed in the meal I had - the curry stir fry. The curry veggies were swimming in a bizarrely thick curry sauce that, from the consistency and texture texture, had a include a large amount of corn starch. It was disgusting and I felt ill when I left. The odd consistency would have been less evident if the veggies had simply been coated in the sauce or spiced directly. But I suspect the flavor would have been lacking as the pre-cooked veggies seem to have simply been slathered in the sauce rather than have it cooked in to the vegetables as is a true stir fry. read more

We absolutely love this place. My mom, partner, and I went for our joint birthday dinner last night, and it was excellent as always. I got the crispy sesame tofu and they both got the zucchini parmesan. Mom got onion rings to start, and my partner and I each started with the pepper parmesan potato soup, which was the soup of the day. Mom and I split the hazelnut cheesecake for dessert. It was all absolutely delicious. I had enough of the crispy sesame tofu left for two lunches (had it for lunch today!), too. Yum. I popped in with a friend over the weekend just craving a salad and didn't expect the salad of my dreams! This salad literally haunts me, it's so good. I got the Greek salad with salmon and the creamy garlic dressing. The salmon was cooked to absolute perfection, the garlic dressing wasn't overpowering and complimented it amazingly, and the portion was just right. Also we got the herbal tea which was just amazing (my friend is not a tea person and even he liked it!). My friend got a chicken sandwich that he devoured and said he would definitely order again (specifically said the honey mustard (?) dressing was fantastic). We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy but we only had to wait about 5 mins before we were seated which was great because we were starving! All of the food had great flavor! I loved the variety they have for their stir fry bowls. I got the Indonesian stir fry with a shrimp skewer... the vegetables were great, the sauce was good and you have the option of picking if you want brown rice, soba noodles, or rice noddles. I will say that the shrimp was slightly over cooked so I would definitely not get shrimp here again but overall the dish was great and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The sandwich was made with their homemade bread which was delicious, soft and thick (plus if you like bread but it is pretty thick) in addition it had a thick slice of mozzarella cheese as well which was great as you can tell that it's fresh. It would be great if they offered a side of chips with their sandwiches though but flavor is all there. Oh, btw their prices are definitely budget friendly too! We will return! read more

Spouse and I had a lovely Saturday during Memorial Day weekend picking strawberries and visiting wineries in the Mt. Airy area. Our last winery was only 15-20 minutes from downtown Frederick, and I had planned to eat lunch at a fancy restaurant, only to find them closed between lunch and dinner service (it was around 3 pm). We walked down lovely Market Street and looked at several open restaurants. We saw lots of people at The Orchard and took one look at the menu and we both blurted out "Wow! This is for us!" Lots of great healthy choices: salads, stir fries, sandwiches, bowls. We both ordered the special of the day: Bucatini scampi with blackened mahi mahi. We got an Afghan special appetizer called Bolani which is a thin flatbread (not made in house, sourced from an Afghan grocery) with mashed potato and spices, then fried and served with a cilantro spice sauce. The Bolani were amazing, so flavorful, comfort food even though I know little about Afghan cooking. The scampi dish was delicious and flavorful. I'm craving it even now writing! Amazing menu, so many choices. Combination of American and international food, so many choices, all delicious and healthy. Service was good despite being crowded. We spoke with the owner, such a nice guy! He bought the restaurant several years ago, and he added Afghan dishes. We wish him continued success. We live in Montgomery County and typically go to Bethesda or DC to dine, but this makes us think of coming north to Frederick just to eat here! Terrific location. We love this cozy restaurant! Their food is the freshest and it is locally sourced. Super friendly employees! Prices are incredibly reasonable! My favorite dish is the Szechuan stir fry with tofu. I really appreciate all the plant based options. Their soups are amazing too! They have something for all types of eaters and palates here! Their coffee is so flavorful and made by the local Dublin Roasters. It is a special blend specific to The Orchard. I love enjoying a cup of half caff with a splash of almond milk. Was excited to take my mom there for Mother's Day, because she has some dietary restrictions and they've made it pretty clear they accommodate them. Got in the restaurant, waiter was great, helped us figure out what on the menu was gluten-free and what wasn't. We started this awkward back-and-forth, where we would order some thing, the waiter would go to the kitchen, and would come back and tell us he had checked with the chef, and it actually wasn't gluten-free. By the second or third round waiter got pretty embarrassed by it - we really appreciated him helping us, the food we did eventually get was pretty good, was a good choice for a laid-back nice meal.
