Bread was toasted just right, the corned beef was on point, the cheese was melted, and everything went well together! Only thought is that maybe there could have been a little less sauce or mayo in the coleslaw. But it was exactly what we needed. I had the Italian salad and it was a perfect lunch portion, especially for the price. My boyfriend had the roast beef and Munster sandwich, which came with a side. He had potato salad, which seemed to be made with relish in addition to traditional mayo ingredients. Something out of the ordinary for me, but not bad. My only gripe with this place is the price and size for their side. For $1.25 I got a slice of a pickle when it's advertised as a "kosher whole pickle." Further, the potato salad side when bought separate is $1.50 for MAYBE a 1/4-1/3 cup. It was pretty disappointing but not enough to keep me from coming back. Maybe it's having grown up with NY delis, and having outrageously large portions for lower price. Not sure. But keep the size in mind if you think adding one on is worth it. read more

A few things I noted while waiting on my to-go order that I would recommend for the management/staff. Greet the guests! It's a little awkward stepping into a store and just being looked at. The staff working the kitchen area should refrain from foul language; it travels. All the "GDs" and f-bombs I heard really took away from the experience. If you want to rant, take it to the back alley. Lastly, put phone calls on hold while taking an order at the register. The lady working the register literally interrupted in the middle of an in-person order to answer the phone and serve that customer first. Seemed really confusing to me. My friends and I went here for lunch. My one friend and I both got the All American Beef sub. And my other friend got the Rachel sandwich. The all American beef was not great if I'm being honest. The structure of the sandwich was the real problem. It literally fell apart everywhere and the bread was cracking under the weight of all the stuff they put in it. The ingredients weren't evenly distributed... causing most of my bites to be straight mayo or lettuce. Also the meat was kind of slimy. I thought it was just what we ordered, but my friends Rachel sandwich wasn't amazing either. It tasted mostly of chipotle sauce and had barely any sauerkraut. The sandwiches at South Market are fantastic! You can taste the fact that the owners care about the product they are serving. I would say it begins with the bread, which is fresh from a local bakery and of course ends with the filling, which is prepared with great ingredients and a lot of love. Now, one caveat is that EVERYTHING comes in styrofoam (soup, sandwich, sides etc...). Now my father HATES styrofoam and I was afraid we would walk out once he put two and two together that there weren't any other options, but I give A LOT of credit to the owner who saw that we were not happy with the styrofoam and pro-actively told us that he was planning to change over to all paper products in 2019. He also explain that paper products are 5x the price of styrofoam, but acknowledges that styrofoam is terrible for the environment and was committed to the change. KUDOS to reading your customer and being pro-active in addressing our concerns. We will be back! read more

Ehhhh....The chicken was nicely roasted and pulled, but there were no other veggies and flavors mixed in with the mayo, it would have been better with some fruit or nuts to add more texture and taste. The bacon was a good idea on the sandwich but again not a lot of taste. Maplewood smoked would add more flavor. In the end, I think it's important to note that just because someone orders a chicken salad sandwich, it doesn't mean he or she is looking for a blend mixture.
