I've been wanting to try this place for years, and I finally got to! Unfortunately, it was their last day. Here's to hoping someone else will take on this business since it's obviously so well loved. I tried their Garden Omelette. It was full of veggies and cheese. Very yummy! The hash-browns were really good too. They were out of a lot of breakfast items due to being their last day. I would've tried pancakes or biscuits and gravy, had they been available. Our server was a friendly young girl, who checked on us regularly. I cycled the Kati trail across MO last month and on the second day I was struggling to find any open cafes near the trail. Then I happened upon the Dutzow Deli and decided to give it a try. I had pastrami, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a pretzel bun with fries and a coke for $12.99. Insanely good. I had a nice chat with the owner, a lovely woman. If I ever come back to this part of the world, I will make an effort to visit again. Absolutely brilliant. read more

I'd been wanting to try this place for years now. I love German food. I had the German Grill sandwich and it was pretty good but a little salty. My biggest problem was the service was terrible. I was hoping since it was a Deli they would have a counter you could order at and I could get a sandwich to go since I was by myself. Instead there are a lot of signs that say "seat yourself" so I did. I was totally ignored for 20 minutes and had to go up to the deli case to order after I got tired of waiting. I had to go up again to get and pay my bill and on my bill I was charged for a soda I did not order or get so I had to have the bill redone. All in all it was not a pleasant experience and I probably won't be back. This was on a week day. I can't imagine how bad the service is on the weekends when they are busy. read more

Clutch with a capital C! That's how I'll remember Dutzow Deli. My friend and I were on the last leg of the Katy Trail, heading to St. Louis and badly in need of water when we rolled up to the Dutzow trailhead. The only problem? The drinking fountain was broken. Enter Dutzow Deli with their bottles of water and fountain machine to take care of us. This was literally one of the last water stops along the trail for several dozen miles into St. Louis, so yeah, pretty life giving. The food and other goodies here didn't exact call me, but the friendly folks left a good overall impression of this little spot and I'm glad it's part of the Katy Trail experience, even if it wasn't the most memorable spot I've ever been to. read more

Don't waste your time . Go into Washington across the bridge. Hours are not correct. They close at 4pm on Sat. and Sun. Seen they were featuring German food so last week went and they were closed during hours listed here. This week headed that way and they close at 4pm . due to traffic it took a little longer than usual but still there 20 min before they close. Closing means with most businesses last seated time. No one greeted and by the time waitress came to table it was15 minutes before 4pm. Unfriendly, we get told they are only making salads and sandwiches to go. This place is not just around the corner. Ridiculous! We ended up going into Washington's Old Dutch Hotel for their German Schnitzel. Won't try again! Place was not clean, very cluttered. read more

Food was pretty good. Service was ok. They forgot to bring us two side items we ordered, but it happens. The worst part was the table cloths. Fabric that clearly hasn't been washed in a while. Covered in food bits and stains. Covering a perfectly fine table. I just don't understand why they chose cotton table clothes at a restaurant, maybe at your grandmas house, but not where people you don't even know are there before you. So gross. read more

As we were passing through the area today and hadn't tried this restaurant yet we decided to stop. So glad we did. The daily special was all you can eat catfish. We were not that hungry so we had the catfish sandwich with a side of potato salad. Plate came with well cooked catfish fillet on good bread, side dish of good potato salad, dill pickle spear, lettuce and a tomato slice. All was fresh, well cooked and well presented. Waitress was efficient and friendly. The dessert looked very good but we were too full to order any. Prices were reasonable. We will return. read more

Hidden gem in beautiful wine country. Dutzow Deli is a family favorite, whether we enjoy a big sit-down breakfast or just grab a couple of sandwiches to go. Traditional comfort food in generous portions makes everybody happy and we have yet to have a bad experience here. Their fish fry specials are a must try! The staff are incredibly friendly and the inviting atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Dine-in or Carry-out, breakfast or lunch - the Dutzow Deli is worth the drive across the river! read more

I love being able to be so close to a hometown diner & deli. Good food at reasonable prices! However: My wife & I ate here yesterday & somehow the waitress totally botched our order? The weird thing is we were one of only three tables there at the time, so I guess the help was in La La Land? My wife order a patty melt & ended up with a Reuben? For me, I ordered a chicken club wrap & ended up with a buffalo chicken wrap. Other than that, the food is good. Especially breakfast. I will still go back! read more

We went apple picking at the orchard down the road and stopped in Dutzow Deli and Restaurant to grab a soda, but ended up staying and eating a late lunch- and I'm glad we did! They had German specials for the October-fest weekend. We really enjoyed the Knob Burger and the German Sandwich. The side of potato salad was very good! Took off 1 star for the bathroom situation (have to have a key, and it could be cleaner), the french fries were just so-so, and we had to ask for re-fills a few times - several girls working there, but nobody really checked on us. Nice place to stop while riding the Katy Trail. Have been in twice, two different years, and service and food were good. They do keep the restroom reserved for paying customers only - can't blame them, especially when the trail head right next to their business. read more

My family and I began frequenting this spot about 4 years ago. Two meals in the same day was not unheard of for us. Initially, the food and location made up for the so-so service, but lately it's been the complete opposite. The girls are great, but the food quality is poor, & the management is severely lacking any concern for the business. The last two times we stopped in for dinner at 5 on a Saturday night, the place was closed with the sign still listing closing time as 7pm. Our most recent (and last) trip to the deli was yesterday morning. We were served raw hash browns, and our daughter had long hair WRAPPED around her slice of bacon. It seems lately, to be more a situation of a mother (owner) ensuring a paycheck for the manager (son) than a family actually striving to run a successful & reputable business. read more
