If I could give this less than one star, I would. This was my third time eating at the Duvall Tavern, and without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Which is strange, because the first two times we came this place was really nice! First the good parts. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the new patio is really nice. We came in at 6:30 on a weeknight and sat right down. Our waitress quickly greeted us and brought us water and menus, and was back promptly to take our orders. She was great, and clearly doing her best with stressed out kitchen staff. We ordered a couple of the specials and wings for an appetizer. And then we waited for an hour. AN HOUR. Finally our food came out and it was not good, you guys. I ordered a teriyaki burger cooked medium. It was a tiny little hockey puck of over cooked meat with no hint of pink, on a very, very soggy bun nearly twice the size of the patty. How soggy? parts of the bun were so soaked they were actually disintegrating. The whole thing was covered in a thin, unappetizing sauce that I had to pour out of the raw canned pineapple ring on top. The wings were sad little desiccated things that came without the blue cheese dressing we ordered, and the tomato soup was actually just marinara sauce. But the worst part? My husband pulled two long strands of human hair out of his mouth after biting into his sandwich. They have a "kitchen help wanted" sign posted on the side of the building. Maybe we'll try this place again in a few months. But for now, we'll be heading elsewhere. read more

We have become fans of Duvall Tavern. The burgers, fish and other sandwiches are very nice, and I really appreciate the fact that I can get a healthy salad as my side. The burgers are thick and made from local beef and cooked to order. The fish is lightly breaded and thick. On Thursday evenings they typically have a guest brewery visiting with one of their brews, giveaway memorabilia, and drawings for glassware, hats, etc. During the summer the crowd spills out onto the extended patio, and kids are always welcome. A nice place to bring a few friends, or a larger family. And we love the crazy staff! They make you feel welcome and part of the family. It's becoming one of our regular date night haunts. read more

I drive through Duvall quite a bit and have always eyed the Duvall Tavern so the wife and I decided to stop in for a nice lunch. Not so much! The food was not that great at all for the $38 tab. A burger, salad and two drinks that wife and I split. Toast the burger buns! It was a soggy mess that we eventually removed the bun all together. The meat was okay but had much better for a $14 burger. The large salad was marginal at best for $10. I think there was 6 croutons and some measly other vegetables. I had to ask for additional salad dressing after receiving only one of those dinky condiment cups. So here is the kicker- we overhead other tables request additional salad dressing. Plus after trying to catch the waitress attention for 10 minutes I had to go inside and personally request dressing. Then to top it off I was charged for the additional dressing. I give zero stars for the food and 3 1/2 stars for atmosphere specifically the patio seating. Go for a couple drinks but do not order the food! read more

If you order the Duvall Tavern burger during happy hour and the waitress asks you what kind of cheese you want and what kind of fries... Don't be surprised when your bill comes and you are charged $11 for your happy hour Duvall Tavern burger, when the menu says the Duvall Tavern burger is $6. When you get cheese and fries it is no longer the happy hour price, menu doesn't say that and waitress doesn't tell you that until it is time to pay. Happy hour burger should be $6 as the menu says.....We were robbed, if we would have known, I would have ordered something different. It wasn't the best customer service. Probably won't be back for a while. The fries were burnt and over cooked, we didn't eat them anyway. read more

Glad that we tried this place out! Wish we got here a bit earlier and it was a bit warmer out because their patio is so cute. The string lights and benches, tables, games, and flowers make it feel really inviting. Food was a plus for "tavern" food. My husbands burger looked pretty good, lots of side dishes to choose from, burger cooked fresh and didn't look like everything was previously frozen. The side salad was loaded with fresh veggies! The caprese panini was OK, I would probably get something different next time but still good. Fried pickles 10/10! The batter they use is amazing, I could make a meal of them in itself. Price was pretty good too, 4 beers, 2 entrees, and 1 app for $65 - not too bad. Service was friendly and prompt. It wasn't very busy the night we were there but still a generous amount of people were hanging out. Atmosphere was warm and cozy with that tavern vibe, love the WSU decorations and overall very spacious. I get the vibe you could just come for dinner, a few drinks on the patio - or linger at the bar with buds for hours in the evening on a cold night. Will be back! read more

I used to really like it here when it first changed to Duvall tavern but it seems to have really gone down hill. The food wasn't as great but the service was horrendous. The bartender had to come out to take our drink order after about 15 minutes because the waitress never came (it was not busy). And then just as we finally got our food (another very long wait) an entire group of screaming 11 year old boys with their neglectful parents came in after their little league game. This was probably just as frustrating for the wait staff but come on Duvall TAVERN, 11 year olds shouldn't be inside by the bar... make them sit outside only or not have kids at all read more

I've been back a few times over the past few years and everything has gotten better, even the service is a little bit quicker. Giving them a 1 star is over exaggerating. Just an overall bad experience. I had the chicken strips for lunch and they were about 10% chicken and 90% batter. The servers seemed friendly, but spent more time talking to each other than the guests. Maybe the owners should spend less money on branding everything in the restaurant and invest in better service and food. I'm surprised the TP didn't have their logo on it. I can't believe some of the negative comments regarding the service here considering that getting service in downtown Seattle is about as nerve racking as an Iraqi grocery run. It would appear that most of service industries in the bigger cities are staffed by sociopaths with the intrpersonal skills of a Wolverine. You can be sure the one dish that most of them have on the menu is ATTITUDE. Thankfully, you can pretty much count on good service in Duvall. The Duvall Tavern takes it a step higher. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. The wait time for food was decent.. You will notice that in even the worst reviews- no one complains about the food. That is amazing if you consider that the quality of food in this country is disappearing faster than a pack of smokes at an AA meeting. The reason is that the food is amazing. Even if I had to wait, it would be worth it. Everything has been over the top. The apple sauce is the best in the Free World. They have a great section of beers from local microbrews to imports. Additionally, they are very kid friendly . They have a kids menu and there is a lttle picnic bench outside complete with side walk chalk. I have noticed that Some of the little local artists are going to give Picasso and Rembrandt a run for their money. Lastly, there are plenty of quality TVs to watch sports on. I've been to the Duvall Tavern twice. The first time was ok. The second time was very disappointing. My friend and I arrived at 6:30 on a Tuesday evening. They were moderately busy. We ordered 2 burgers and one chicken tender basket. After thirty minutes, we asked for our meals to be boxed up to go because my 3 y.o. was nearing the end of his patience. I wouldn't want to put the other people at the restaurant through a meltdown if I could avoid it. 10 minutes later, still no food. We left without dinner. read more

I've been to the Tavern twice since they re-opened and plan on making it a regular stop. Plenty of parking nearby. Nicely redecorated and it's neat to have a kid friendly place with a decent beer selection. Both the regular cheeseburger that I had and the pepperjack burger enjoyed by my son were very tasty and the hand cut fries were delicious. I really wanted to try the Reuben but they had sold out. Service was a tad slow but our server apologized several times as they were much busier than they had expected, but it was a beautiful sunny day and the beer was cold so we didn't really mind a bit....and the prices are great. Inside there aren't many places to sit for groups of more than a couple people but there are some larger tables outside which will be quite enjoyable during good weather. read more

So glad we stopped here on our road trip to Gramma's house. We had originally walked in to the pizza house across the street but weren't impressed with the menu so I talked my kids into trying out the "tavern" across the street by telling them that tavern food was usually pretty awesome. This tavern did not disappoint! We sat out on the spacious patio, under an umbrella at a very generous size table, and fortunately it was a beautiful Pacific Northwest evening. There was a wonderful piano player out there singing a wide range of classic music at a very enjoyable volume (not to loud, not to soft....just right!). We immediately ordered the Sweet Potato fries with Maple glaze, to combat the urgent hunger. The fries came out quickly and were crispy, delicious and hot. We were glad to have those to hold us over because the rest of our food did take a little while to come out. While we waited we were able to enjoy the entertainment and got to know our waitress because she stopped by many times to chat, apologize for the wait and make sure the kids sodas stayed full! Our food did take a while, it was a Friday evening and they were quite busy, but was well worth the wait! My 12 year old ordered a cheeseburger from the kids menu, it came with fries and a side of BBQ sauce, which he declared to be "the best BBQ sauce ever"! He was given a choice of cheeses and the generously sized burger came dressed with lettuce, tomato and pickles. My 15 year old waffled between the Reuben sandwich and a burger, finally decided on the Washington burger, with fries. His burger was also incredible; a perfectly cooked fresh patty, topped with bacon, carmelized apples, and extra sharp white cheddar, served on a house made bun. The one small bite I was able to talk him out of was amazing. My meal was the Fish and Chips, but I substituted a house salad for the fries. The fish was really good and the salad was way above my expectations; it was a nice mixture of greens topped with cucumbers, tomatoes and red and green peppers. I requested the dressing on the side (because I am a dressing snob) and was VERY impressed with the house made blue cheese salad dressing. Even though the place was busy we had exceptional service, including a visit from the owner who was working as hard as the rest of the employees. The renovations are nice, good amount of TVs for sports viewing, and a nice patio area. My grilled cheese sandwich was very greasy and the bread on one side was pretty torn up. Went there twice under the new ownership - to give a chance to another local business. To be honest, not impressed. The staff was not efficient, seemed like they were not sure who is over which table. A couple of times forgot to fulfill a small request - such as add lemonade or something like that. They were super apologetic which gave us an impression that it was just the starting pains. Went there a couple of months later - still same. Update: I always enjoyed the tavern here but I stopped in for lunch today(Tues afternoon) and am very disappointed with the level of service. My server who i believe was either Alicia or Alyssa took about 8 minutes to bring our menus got our order incorrect did not ask to refill our drinks and took a long long time to bring a to go box and our check after asking twice. I could understand if it was busy but it seemed like she was spending most of her time with local friends instead of customer service. I hope this is a fluke because if not I won't be back. read more

I took my friend to the Tavern today because In the past the staff has been very helpful with my Celiac disease. Today the "older" waitress just said , "Well... there is gluten in the kitchen!" And walked away! Really?!? No kidding! My friend said let's go so we left. I think they need to realize one rude waitress can affect many people not coming to their establishment. read more
