Dvir Salon is welcoming and phenomenal. The moment I walked through the door, I knew I was going to be treated well. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist, and an assistant. I arrived early and my stylist, Jill was finishing up on another client - but she took a moment to acknowledge me when I walked in and told me she would attend to me shortly - as I waited, one of the assistants offered me a seat and a delicious cappuccino. I was glad to feel taken care of and as soon as Jill finished up with her client, she took care of me and asked me what I was looking to do: to clean up my hair with a trim, and add layers and highlights. She was very attentive and I was so preoccupied with the good conversation that we were having, that the time flew by. Not a moment that I was there did I not feel like I wasn't taken care of - even the assistant that shampooed me and gave me the most amazing head massage was incredibly considerate and helpful. In addition, I wasn't confident about being able to style my hair before going to work every morning so Jill gave me some excellent advice that was easy to understand and apply. She used this amazing product in my hair called Moroccan oil and I immediately bought it as she demonstrated how simple it was to style my hair and throw in some of that miracle hair product. I was amazed at how inexpensive it was for the excellent service because of some pricier and more established salons I had booked at in the city. I'm glad that I discovered Dvir Salon - nothings beats how priceless the atmosphere and the people are to their clients. Would I go back? Absolutely! Yelp's five-star rating is self-described as "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" This is entirely accurate: I've never enjoyed a salon experience nearly as much as I've enjoyed my visits to Dvir. My stylist was Jill, and let me tell you, she gives a really great head massage. More importantly, though, is how she helped me out on my most recent trip: we spent a good ten minutes deciding exactly HOW I wanted my hair colored, and then finding THE shade that fit that idea. (I wanted dark red-brown with brighter red tips.) Anything I had to ask her about hair care, she had expert advice and explanation (I'm quite low-maintenance). It came out great! To speak for the taste of the rest of the salon, other patrons seemed to be enjoying their experiences as well. Aesthetically, it's a beautiful salon -- the place is very stylishly low-key. There's a bar at which they will be more than happy to get you a cup of coffee or a glass of water (in a literal glass...no plastic!). Instead of those annoying sinks you have to kill yourself to get into, they have shampoo bowls that have a slight groove and adjust to where your neck is while you relax in a reclining chair(!). The bathroom is spotless, and features what Jill and I like to refer to as "Robo-Trash" -- there's a sensor on the trash bin that will make it open up for you when it sees you coming, which helps keep it sanitary. Also, if you are willing to donate your hair to Locks of Love, the cut is free! I'm working on my third donation right now...can't wait to come back! Okay I went today to Dvir salon when I knew deep down inside I should have listened to my friend and waited for Dvir himself to come back from vacation...Omg I went for single process and highlights with dina the russian lady with blond hair ..Only russian there besides the japanese girl and the receptionist...Well I have to say omg I want to die I left in tears....She did a horrible job on my hightlights then blamed it on the fact that people with dark hair should not get highlights because it looks unnatural..Okay that would be speaking of more than half the population of the world.....I told her what I wanted and she insisted on doing what she thought was best and quote un quote a masterpeice....Although they were great and wonderful as far as personality but paying 250.00 is not worth it for just being nice..i want my hair the way I want my hair very simple but some people just want what they want and dont listen to the client..Although she gave me a nice haircut she cut off more than I wanted...I have tried both san and her..japanse and russian horrible when it comes to highlights they are pretty good with cuts but highlights are a horror...I wish I had waited ....Dvir is good from what I have seen not experienced so that is the honest truth..Haircuts good color very very bad read more

I'm so happy I found Jill at D'Vir! After having long hair forever, I really needed a change. I volunteered to be a hair model at a super swanky Manhattan salon and got a killer bob for free. It was great until I remembered that when you have a great short haircut you need regular trims to keep it looking good (regular being more than the once-a-year-visit I had become accustomed to). As a relatively broke person, I panicked- I definitely could not afford to go back to the swanky place every 6 weeks. Finding D'Vir was a miracle-- it's affordable and Jill is the absolute best! I never have a problem getting an appointment and even though it ALWAYS ends up raining on days when I'm going there, I still leave feeling fabulous! read more

I just had a visit today at DVIR salon for highlights..The owner didnt do them but there was a young woman there who did..I have to say I'm not happy with the result..Although they were very pleasant and have great side chair manner the highlights were not what I wanted and mutlicolored...I had to come home and go over it...Maybe they are good with haircuts and with fine easy hair that is managable..I have curly dark hair and made an excuse to leave mid way of her drying...Great enviroment nice people but I wouldnt go back only because like Imentioned not everyone can deal with curly hair..But others that were there left happy so I guess it just depends what type of hair you have read more

After reading certain reviews throughout yelp, I truly think that some people are simply miserable in their own life. Due to this misery, they feel the need to spread this bad energy to others. Perhaps to make themselves feel better? Who the heck knows! Anyway, Dvir salon is awesome. I have lived in Boerum Hill for the past 2 years and have used everyone within the salon. It really is one of the warmest and friendliest salons I have ever been to. My hair always looks great & I have never been disappointed! Just had my first experience with Jackie and it was great. I was undecided as to what I wanted but mentioned short layers upon sitting in her chair. She explained why short layers wouldn't be ideal for my hair; and why long layers or texturizing at the base of length would be best. To say the least, my hair is super fine. I really appreciated her feedback; and really feel she gave me the proper cut for my kind of hair. Also, Im very happy with the way she framed my face. As a whole, the salon is very clean and cozy. All in all, I had a wonderful experience (and free cappuccino) and will definitely return. :) read more

I finally found a great salon in the planet, thanks for the yelp reviewers for introducing Dvir, I LOVE IT!!! I was appointed with Jackie when I asked for their best stylist, really she is a genius. I gave my own ideas about the hair cut, she made some modifications in that and made my hair as perfect as i expected. Also, she helped me with some suggestions about growing my hair longer. I always pass by Dvir and finally checked it out. Two weeks later I am still in love with my haircut. Deana is amazing. She made sure we were on the same page and envisioned what would look great even when I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do with my long hair. Usually it's tough to replicate the look a stylist gives you but Deana made sure my angles were easy to style up and down, straight and curly. I live close by, so i decided to give it a try. Overall everyone tries to be nice, but they do not smile and have an annoying attitude. My stylist was Britney, she seemed like she didn't want to be there. She rushed thru the haircut and seemed like she wanted me out the door asap. She definitely does not know how to cut mens hair. I originally went to Dvir on a whim because they were the only place that would take me in for a last minute haircut. I didn't know I was going to find my new favorite salon! Brittany was my stylist and gave me the PERFECT cut/style. She is creative and very intuitive as a stylist, but also has a great personality. I felt like I've known her my whole life! I have been going to Dvir for a few years. The salon was remodeled a year or so ago, and it is so nice and pleasant to be there. The staff is very helpful and always offer me something to drink. Got my hair and make up done by Japanese girl. Could do a better job myself. Long wait and very small salon. They offer cappuccino while you wait, but it doesn't really help when ur running late for your party. Make-up was worse than hair, I could literally do so much better! read more
