She gives it to you straight, no chaser, and I guess that is just not for everyone (hence the other reviews). The previous reviewers must have thin skin or something because I had a wonderful expierence with my starter locs and will definitely be going back to her for regular maintenance. It is just her at the shop so it is a very personal expierence to start. The atmosphere is wonderful and she is super knowledgeable about hair. If you want a stylist all up in your face telling you what you want to hear just to take your money at the expense of your hair then she is not for you. If you want someone that actually cares about your hair and won't just do any ole' thing you ask for just to make a buck, definitely go see Emma!!!! Thanks so much, Emma!

Having called once without response, I was sent to a voicemail that had no identifying information or greeting of any kind. Not wanting my message to fall into some unlabeled oblivion, but also figuring that the shop was probably just busy on a Saturday morning, I called back hoping to speak to someone. To my delight, the phone was answered! However my delight quickly turned to dismay when the person on the other end (who I pray is not the establishment's owner) responded with a gruff "Yes?" -- no greeting, no "How can I help you?", straight attitude. Wary but trying to accommodate, thinking that perhaps this person had their hands in someone's head but no one else to help them answer the phone and so they were a bit strained, I stated that I was calling to speak about potential service, but if this was an inconvenient time I could call back at a predetermined, more convenient one. The response to this olive branch: "Go ahead." And this was no re-assuring "go ahead", this was straight, uncalled-for attitude. When I hesitated, taken aback by what seemed almost like naked aggression, I was rewarded with an impatient, "Talk, talk." Needless to say, after this encounter I was not eager to put either my hair or my money in the clutches of such a rude, lackluster outfit. I promptly thanked whomever was on the other end and hung up. The whole situation is very sad, because perhaps the salon does great hair, and I would love their service, but I will never even set foot in the door because of this initial meeting. Customer service is key from start to finish; don't lose business before you've even had a chance to earn it!

I pay $45 which is what I consider standard for just a cut. Sadly my stylist is leaving, but Amanda-you were great! Loved the trendy bob we did and you always fix a great job on my hair. She has skill, training, experience and a great personality. She doesn't talk down to you or make you feel like you're not cool enough to be there. Within minutes of explaining what I wanted done she had a plan and explained everything that needed to happen for me to achieve it. I've been there 4 times now and look forward to each visit. I know when I leave I'm going to be looking good! People compliment my hair all the time. The salon is modern, clean and has a nice vibe to it. It's classy but not full of itself, ya know? The stylists look like people, not wanna be models and you feel comfortable with yourself. They offer you drinks and even a snack if you're going to be there awhile. Never asks me if I want to look at magazines or if I want a beverage.
