We've been to two affairs here...One sweet 16, which was upscale and one wedding which was on a budget. Although the Sweet 16 had better food and an outdoor cocktail hour which was pretty pleasant and civilized, we had to depart before the killer dessert buffet was revealed due to the freezing cold temperature and the ear drum piercing sound system. It was nothing short of torture. My 14 year old daughter was the first to ask to go so based upon that, you can draw your own conclusions. The wedding was a bit of a disaster. We arrived early as our daughter was in the wedding party and were made to feel completely uncomfortable. Nowhere to grab a drink, nowhere to hang out and were told to wait for our daughter outside while the photos were taken. It was pouring. As the other guests arrived, we were crammed into the hallway and then ushered to holding room with a dark bar sans bartender...what a tease. This lasted an hour until we permitted to enter the cocktail hour room (which was where the pics were being taken so they had to set up.) The food was predictably bad but the service didn't have to be so rude. As for the venue...could use a major cleaning and renovation. read more

We just had our wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course on Aug 12, 2017, and it was absolutely perfect! It was supposed to rain that day but it held out and we were able to do our ceremony in the garden.. so beautiful with the flowers and greens surrounding us. Cocktail hour spread out into the patio which our guests loved because they were able to take lovely pics with the green course as a backdrop. The reception room was a hit, big enough to hold my party of 200. We had white uplighting and it made the room look amazing, our guests couldn't stop raving about how lovely this venue was, how nice the staff was and how great the food was.. even though I didn't get to eat. Our sales rep, Lila, was the best. She worked with us to make this all happen. My bridal attendant, Sarahi, was so sweet and attentive. She made sure we always had food and drinks. Our matre d, Nick, was so helpful with everything. There were some slight miscommunications, not Nick's fault and unnoticed by our guests, but he fixed them right away. Some of my guests were still sitting at their tables once the party ended yelling "I don't wanna leave yet!!" As the bride, I will nick-pick on everything but at the end of the day our guests had a great time and so did we. We held our wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course on August 6, 2016. We booked about 15 months in advance, and were in awe of the beautifully manicured course and lawn, outdoor patio and beautiful reception spaces. The décor is classy and elegant and the rooms have large windows with tons of natural light. Vicky, Nick and Sherry did a fantastic job as coordinator, maitre'd, and bridal coordinator, respectively. We felt completely taken care of and the day of our wedding went off without a hitch. It rained and was very humid the day of our wedding so we opted to do the ceremony indoors - which meant they had to turn over the ballroom during cocktail hour back to a reception space. We had 275 guests and they executed everything wonderfully. Everyone raved about the food too, especially cocktail hour. While we had to stay on top of Dyker throughout the planning process and manage them a bit, they pulled off a great wedding in the end. Overall, we were very happy with our wedding and would recommend Dyker, but just know that you may need to manage them during the planning process. read more

I had my wedding here a week ago and let me tell you, best decision EVER. I could have done the Long Island, Westchester or Jersey thing, but I'm a Brooklyn girl, so I had to keep it home. Debbie, the sales manager and Vicky, the events planner were sweethearts the whole way through my planing. They were patient with me (which for me, doesn't take much) and looked forward to seeing me each time I came in. The chef is amazing. We had our dinner tasting since last summer and I knew once the food was solid, it was a win-win situation. Our maitre'd (Kim) and bridal attendant (Jordan) were amazing as well. The whole evening flowed so smoothly that it felt like one big family reunion. It didn't feel like a stuffy, rehearsed, mechanical event. The staff here at Dyker are very professional and ready to accommodate you in and and every way possible. The grounds are beautiful and the gazebo was perfect for our outside ceremony. They've recently added uplighting which definitely added depth and excitement to our reception. I just had my wedding at Dyker. My ceremony started an hour behind schedule even though everyone was ready. I arrived at Dyker on-time. There was a wedding before mine, which caused the delay. The bridal suite was not ready and we waited a very, very long time for the bridal suite (half an hour). It was still dirty when I got inside. Time is so precious. I felt so bad our guest had to wait so long for no reason. I lost an hour of photos. They took away the microphone and sent the guests away after my ceremony, which was when I wanted to take traditional portraits. Wasted more time trying to gather 300+ people back into the gazebo for photos. Time is money. I wish I was informed how many guests didn't show up. I believe I would have been informed if there were extra guests and charged but nobody told me that there were a few no-shows. When I mentioned this to the Matre'D, he said that it would have been waived if an extra two or three people show up. I don't know if it's true but I hope this helps future couples. The main course was not served until 10:00PM. I got a lot of complaints about that. There was so much going on during your wedding. I didn't come across many of the appetizers that I had selected. I had asked many guests whether they got to try it but many said they didn't. this makes me wonder if they deliver what they promised and what you paid for. The fancy items are limited quantity. I was extremely disappointed by one issue. They ruined my CAKE!!! I was so upset at how my wedding cake looked so plain. The cake is so important for every wedding. There were no flowers on my cake!!! The wedding cake is a big thing. I don't know where the communication went wrong between the venue and the florist. They both blamed each other for not providing the flowers. I wish someone would have told me. The florist said the flowers that I wanted were not in season. Aside from the above mentioned issues, (WHICH WERE PRETTY SERIOUS), the staff was very polite. The cake was delicious. There was a lot of food. The food was decent for a wedding, which is good since it's mass produced. Everyone loved the venetian hour. We held our wedding reception at Dyker Beach Golf Course over this past Memorial Day Weekend 2009 and I highly recommend this place! I could not have asked for a more memorable wedding and it was made possible partly due to the wonderful attention to detail that the staff @ Dyker Beach provided! Service: The staff there is very accomodating and worked with us to ensure that they delivered on everything we requested. From the maitre'd to the bridal attendant, everyone was extremely attentive and professional. I loved having our own bridal suite stocked with our own hors deuvres and alcohol, and a bridal attendant who made herself available to us throughout the entire evening (the fact that she always had a new vodka-soda for me waiting at my table every 10 minutes regardless of whether I had finished drinking the last drink, was awesome!) Food: Food was great.. and there was plenty of it! I missed the cocktail reception but was told that the various stations, as well as the passed hor deuvres were pretty good! The salad, appetizer (crab cake) and entrees (filet mignon, chicken, salmon) were delicious! Dyker also provided the cake which was also one last thing we had to worry about so that was a plus! We had a number of children attending so it was great that they had a separate child's menu available and accomodated guests who had food allergies. Dyker Beach just underwent a massive renovation so this place looks just beautiful and new. I especially appreciated the fact that the cocktail reception area was totally separate from the main ball room and only 1 event can take place at a time. The main ballroom itself has a great lay-out with a moveable dance-floor so you can set the room up however you want. In short, I was very pleased with Dyker Beach and soooo glad we had our wedding reception there. Think New York City is just one big concrete jungle with no access to green surroundings? Think again. Only in a city like New York is there a golf course within a 10 minute walk from the subway in Brooklyn. Just hop on the R train, get off at 86th street, walk a short distance east and you've got yourself a fun little golf course to hack around on. It's a full 72 holes and it's pretty forgiving. There's no chance they'll be housing a US Open anytime soon, but for a quick round and a nice walk through some lush greenery, it's a win. Being a city course, there are a lot of distractions (screaming kids, horns honking, grounds crew who don't know to turn off the lawn mower while you're putting), but there's also a pretty great view of the Verrazano bridge on the back 9 that makes for a great photo op when the weather is nice. Definitely worth a trek to BK if you're channeling your inner Ricky Fowler. read more

My husband and I got married at Dyker Beach Golf Course on August 1, 2015. We are both from Brooklyn and we wanted to find a venue located in Brooklyn as well. A few years ago, we had attended a family member's wedding that was held at Dyker and was very impressed with the food, service and overall ambiance of the venue. It was one of the most fun and memorable weddings that we had attended at that point, so we already had a very positive impression of Dyker before we even booked with them. We had met with Carlo and he was very helpful in helping us make a decision. We knew after our conversation with him and seeing the venue again that Dyker was the place for us. We only have positive things to say about Dyker and have included below a list of their pros (no cons!). * Reasonably priced - Their reception packages include cocktail hour, 3-course meal during reception and Venetian hour (an entire room was dedicated to desserts buffet style). There are also a la carte options that you can add onto your package price for additional cost. * Beautiful Environment - Many of our guests who are from the Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights neighborhoods were unaware that Dyker existed. Nested in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn is a beautiful and serene golf course, where you have views of the Verrazano Bridge. We had an outdoor wedding ceremony that was held at Dyker's gazebo. Even though the busy streets of Brooklyn were not too far away, you couldn't hear any of the noise once you're on Dyker grounds. Our outdoor ceremony was followed by cocktail hour that was held both indoors and outdoors. Food was served indoors in a room that had doors that opened into a large patio area that oversees the golf course. Reception was held in the grand ballroom that had high ceilings and comfortably fit 200 guests (the number of guests we had). * Only Your Event at the Venue - This is something that is often overlooked by many when looking for wedding venues. We've been to a few weddings before where there were multiple weddings happening at the same time at a venue. There were instances where we heard loud music coming from other events during the wedding ceremony. This is something you definitely don't want on your big day. This is something you don't have to worry about with Dyker. They only accommodate one event at a time, so their focus is on your wedding and your wedding only. * Premium open bar -Dyker offered top-shelf premium open bar throughout the entire night (from cocktail hour to Venetian hour). * Valet parking - Just wanted to point out that they do provide valet parking for all guests. We've been to weddings before where we had to park our own car and walk quite a distance, so valet parking is always a nice little perk when available (especially for the ladies with our high heels!). * Included Many Extras - When you're planning a wedding, there are so many things to consider that it's easy for all the costs to pile up. Dyker included a lot of amenities that most venues do not include. We didn't realize until after our wedding how important these little extras were in terms of helping us cut costs and alleviate some of the stress. Some of these items included the following: - Wedding cake - The wedding cake is already included as part of their package price. Their cakes are from Villabate (for those familiar with the area, this is a local Italian bakery that is very popular and known for their cakes and desserts in Bensonhurst). - Direction cards - We didn't use these as we deemed it unnecessary, but for those who plan to include direction cards in their wedding invitations, this would definitely help save on additional printing costs for direction cards. - Escort cards - Many venues don't provide escort cards (another added expense); however, Dyker provided blank escort cards for us to use. - Table Number - Dyker provided table numbers that were framed. Unless you plan on using your own designs for table numbers, this is another expense that can be saved. Overall, Dyker Beach Golf Course exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend them! read more

Dyker Beach Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole championship course located in the heart of Brooklyn just below the beautiful Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Considered to be one of the oldest and most historic courses in New York City....it was opened in the late 1890 as a private club. Throughout the years it has seen so many famous faces and although I am not a golfer .......a friend's wedding brought me there for the first time some years back. The lavish banguet hall was such a perfect setting for a wedding reception...Amenities include an outdoor ceremony , dressing rehearsal, dinner and dance floor...and the food was excellent..everything from the Appetizers to the Entree to the dessert... was carefully executed ....perfect and very memorable. Just went to a wedding yesterday (Friday 9/14/12) for a dear friend of mine. I wasn't sure what to expect but boy, was the entire experience phenomenal. The location was beautiful. The grounds were gorgeous. Whoever helped set that wedding up did an amazing job. The food was perfect. They had an amazing spread. Everything from vegetarian options to sushi and a great antipasto for the cocktail hour. Great bar selection also. The sit down dinner had to be the best I've had to date. My fiance and I were looking for a classy, well lit venue with warm friendly people for our November wedding. We had looked at few different places in Brooklyn and although they were nice, they just didn't seem to be what we were hoping for. This until we went to Dyker Beach Golf Course. The moment we walked in, we just felt like this place had been there waiting for us. It is very elegant with high ceilings, windows that surround the room with light, as well as, provide a wonderfully lush backdrop. There is a gazebo outside and a beautiful outdoor seating area just a step away from the doors in the Grand Ballroom. We were fairly certain at that point we wanted our wedding here. The closer for us was meeting with Carlo. Carlo is simply a pleasure to work with. He took his time to go over every single minute detail of our wedding day. He is very funny, has an incredible warmth and dedication to making the whole experience of planning your BIG day easy and stress free. Carlo gave us wonderful tips on flowers, music, how the food will be presented to our guests, and what to expect in the coming months prior to our wedding. He is always available to talk to you whenever you have a question and very willing to work with couples to get the most for their budget. We recently went for our tasting and could not be more delighted! The food beyond delicious with great attention paid to presentation. Our attendant Jordan is a sweetheart. She took the time to explain each dish, giving us insight on the food we were presented and is just a truly lovely person. Ultimately this is my point. We haven't even had our event yet, but we are made to feel like family. I'm not a golfer yet, but Sunday afternoon and sunny and we need something exotic so Dyker Beach Glof it is, we rented a cart and the equipment for like $60 a pop, and bought a lot of beer and for the first time swong a golf club, it's amazing, and its really huge, lots of fun even for a beginner. Why 3 stars, we're a little tipsy and once drove over the 'green' and we had snitches on the field reported us. [be aware snitches!], the management was totally cool with us. read more

I recently had my wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course on September 14, 2012 and it was absolutely the best decision I made. The outdoor ceremony in the gazebo was beautiful and the ability for the guest to enjoy the cocktail hour indoors and outdoors was a plus!! Even a nice group of golfers stopped their game so we can hit some balls before our ceremony. This made for some great photographs. Dyker surely is a gem right in the heart of Brooklyn. Bruno, Deborah and Vicky were super helpful and treated us as if they knew us for years! On the day of our wedding the staff went above and beyond to help us with whatever needs we had. I like this course. It's got a good design, the fairway/greens are in solid condition and the price is very reasonable. I don't like the gentleman who was manning the the front office today. Yes, every golf course has to have a grumpy old man, it's part of the game. But when you call to make a tee time and the guy who answers is like "What? I got like 30 people in front of me and don't have time to run through the tee times...go online" and you're like "I went online and the site isn't showing me tee times", you ask yourself, how hard is your job? Typing on a keyboard AND talking on the phone at the same time? Are you insane??? Take a breather dude. It's golf, it's not brain surgery. And a piece of professional advice: don't patronize your customers; they tend not to like that. read more

From start to finish Dyker was great! The ambiance of the place is great, the staff is great. Its clean, everyone is so nice and the food is amazing. Not one bad word to say. We started out with Carlo who was wonderful. He worked with us on a fair price and even helped us change some things we didn't like. Vicky was also great. She was such a big help planning the big day. They are very commucicative and polite to work with. They really went above and beyond for us, making it a true memorable wedding. The big day came and we were so excited. After the church we were introduced to our Maitre d' John and Alison. If your having a wedding there ask for them to be there with you for your wedding day. They greeted us and showed us to the bridal suite. They brought us refreshments and were true wonderful hosts. Not a stuffy environment at all, they really helped us relax and enjoy our wedding. They were always attending to us making sure our glasses were full, that we were comfortable, and answering any questions we had. Every so often they would politely tell us what the upcoming plans were. They did a wonderful job. We brought so many things like bows, ribbon, candy bar, center pieces and they did a wonderful job setting all that stuff up for us. They saw our vision and executed the wedding perfectly. If you aren't interested in hosting a fundraiser event a great way to do that is to tell the organization that you allow outside catering for certain groups of people but not to other groups of people, because the other group of people (that match that organizations identity) are cheap and will want to hold more events at that venue. This tactic works best when the group you accommodate has a major political conflict with the group the organization belongs to. Push your disinterest further buy bringing a guy in a suit and tie to meet the 2 representatives from the national civil rights organization and make him talk in a duck voice to them. That will show them you are not interested in their business, you're culturally insensitive and don't put much thought into ensuring your employees treat everyone fairly. Wow. Wedding Venue Review =). Food: the salmon I had was surprisingly great! I honestly did not expect much. Other things that were served were standard fare. The bartenders and servers were all quite fun. This is one of those interesting little gems - it's a very quiet park, but the area around it is bustling with traffic and lots of other activity. Decent public course close enough to Manhattan. No subway nearby but one can easily take an Uber from the city for $40 or take the train and Uber it at the closest stop. It's what you expect from a public NYC course. Pretty wide, straight, flat and not a lot of hazards. Conditions were fine for a city course but of course as with any city course pace of play leaves much to be desired on a nice summer weekend. We waited about 20 minutes to tee off, and after 18 holes the entire round took about 5 and a half hours. Not surprised, and it was expected. Great for locals, if you have a car, drive 20 minutes further and you'll probably make up for it in faster play and slightly better course. read more

One of the closest golf courses to Brooklyn. The course is in decent shape, but the layout is boring. Paying for green fees is one of the weirdest experiences I've had at a golf course. I went into to pay 15 minutes before my tee time and the pro shop said I had to wait to pay until my time. When I was finally allowed to pay, I asked "Do you guys have pull carts?". The guy responds, "Whatever's out there." So I walk outside looking for pull carts, but didn't see any, so I guess not? Very weird experience. read more

I was recently invited to a childhood friend's wedding in August. It was a beautiful bright sunny Saturday. Lucky! We got there a bit early so we chilled at the bar for a li'l while. We were then wisped to the garden area for the wedding vows and ceremony. Their dog Marky ran right to me when he was being walked down the aisle by the flower girl. I, for one, was surprised since I've only met him once lol. The gazebo looked really pretty that day in the warm summer breeze. The 4-person orchestra was amazing! I'm not sure if they were hired or were included in the package. They played throughout the cocktail hour as well. After the rings were exchanged, we were scooted to the lounge where appetizers, drinks and dessert was served. It was a buffet and the food was surprisingly good. I guess that depends on the day of your wedding and which chef was on board. We took a brisk walk in the outdoor area where a few photos were taken. Soon we were seated in the main dining room where the real party began. I wasn't too impressed with the food. Everything tasted too salty and I had to drink a lot of soda. I've got another wedding to attend here in late October. I was told to report back to the bride after leaving this wedding. I had nothing but good news for her; though she got the Sunday deal instead. read more

Course was enjoyable but, the worst pace of play I've ever experienced. We started nearly 30 minutes late and our whole round took just under 6 hours. Rangers were terrible at enforcing pace of play. That could all be forgiven if Martin in the "pro"-shop was not such a miserable human being. He was incredibly rude and clearly on a power trip as keeper of the golf cart keys. As a resident in Manhattan, this has been my "home course" for the last couple years. I typically try to get at least one outing a week during the spring and summer and have never had an issue. Staff is friendly and helpful and the course is kept in solid condition. However, I had a tee time this early morning and it is without question the worst handled and poorly communicated experience I have ever had playing golf. I booked the round via GolfNow the day before (after trying for two hours to reach the pro shop by phone to inquire about course conditions) and everything looked good to go. GolfNow allows for pro shops to update the status of their course if it is being aerated or has any other issues that may be important to prospective golfers - however, the pro shop failed to update GolfNow and did not let any golfers know. The front nine was aerated yesterday (it's the time of year for it so it's something everyone has to deal with and understand) but the back nine was getting aerated as we teed off. Every single hole on the back nine had a temporary "green" on the fairway. It's unacceptable to not notify golfers of this upon check-in. At the very least, I should have been told and the better move is to offer a discount since we are not getting to play the golf course in its entirety. In addition to the poor conditions and lack of communication, the pro shop attendant, Lyndon, handled the somewhat congested pro shop with overly aggressive demands. Getting a line rope in the morning to keep it organized would give everyone a better experience and would make his job easier. However, I must say that overall my experience with the pro shop has been great - especially Anthony. Getting a round in before work isn't a luxury that I have every day, so when I do I expect to at least play a golf course with real greens - not a hole in the fairway. For all future maintenance days, the course needs make everyone aware of the conditions. Otherwise, the course will lose regulars. I know I will find it difficult to make the trip out to Dyker unless I get someone, hopefully Anthony, on the phone. read more

Golfed here for the last time today. I've lived by the course for most of my life. It was sad to see how badly this course is now run. Booked a tee time for 6:00 am. The guy at the pro shop didn't have the time in the system. I had to show him the e-mail confirmation receipt to prove it. Anyway, I pay and as I'm walking out he says, oh by the way the greens are aerated. I think to myself, ok, fine. Tee time is at 6:00, there are 12 people at the tee box. I end up teeing off at 6:40. As I get to my tee shot on the first hole and look for the flag, I see there is a temporary flag in the middle of the fairway as the green was covered in materials for the aeration. Maybe this was just for one hole. Maybe they are behind. Well, for the whole front 9 every pin was in the fairway. It was a joke, just like everyone that works there. I'll never play here again. I would classify Dyker as my "home course." I've played there now about a dozen times, half of which were part of a corporate event so I'll review both. The COURSE isn't going to wow you with any wonderful scenery save the majestic Verrazano Narrows Bridge off in the distance but the course is very solid for a public course. There are no water hazards and limited bunkers, which works if you're learning the game. I haven't played during the weekend but I've heard and can imagine it's difficult to get a tee time. One area where the course continually disapoints is the greens. For the novice/ casual golfer you'll be happy not to have to read any difficult breaks or navigate tricky hole locations but the surface is as bumpy as the BQE after a tough winter. Hit a great long putt and you can EXPECT for it to jump off line as it hits a pothole or two. I cant imagine how frustrsting that might be for real golfers. Dyker, THE VENUE is one of the best. They take tremendous pride in providing quality service. I've attended several events and the food is restaurant quality. They feature a wide range of cuisine from Italian to Asian. They even make a pretty decent sushi bar. I haven't been to a wedding here but I'm sure they do an excellent Job. read more

We held our wedding here last October and it was the most beautiful event ever! Debbie(our sales manager) made our wedding planning, food selection, cake tasting and even dropping off our deposits FUN! The entire staff ( especially our bridal attendant Iman and Vicky our wedding planner) were like family by the time our big day came. Beautiful grounds, elegant and roomy bridal suite, excellent food and a staff that listens and cares makes Dyker Park Golf Course the ONLY place you should ever have your events. Although it rained and we could not have our ceremony by the gazebo, we were able to stay outdoors and have our ceremony in the tent. It was just breathtaking. We were married at the golf course April 8, 2017 and if we had to do it all over again we'd make all the same choices. The day went so smoothly. The bridal attendant and MC catered to us and all our guests. Everyone commented on the perfect flow of the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception. I recently had the pleasure of hosting a charity golf outing and gala at Dyker Beach and truly if I could award Dyker Beach Golf Course 6 stars I would. From the first telephone call with Debbie to a morning-after visit to Vicky for extra materials, every moment of the development and coordination of our event was stunning and flawless. As Vice President of The Johnny Mac Foundation and chair of our annual Golf Outing and Gala, I was thrilled by the opportunity to move our full day event from the private clubs on Long Island to the rolling greens of Brooklyn. Without hesitation I can say that the powerhouse staff from Pro Shop to Events put those private clubs to shame! Our 250+ guests were overwhelmed with the five star treatment they received from a fantastic breakfast buffet during registration to the beautiful course, attentive staff, on-course refreshments and amenities. The event was topped off with cocktails on the patio and an evening reception that is still being buzzed about daily. And keep in mind this event went off on the hottest July day in NYC history. Every bite of food throughout the day, morning to night was perfection and all of our guests were just thrilled - and putting in RSVPs for next year contingent upon The Foundation promising to host the event at Dyker once again! I will also add that the evening was made all the more spectacular on a personal note as the truly wonderful event staff let by the lovely maitre d' Kim kindly conspired with several special people and helped my boyfriend pull off hands down the greatest proposal of all time. Yes, right in the middle of our evening gala. Yes, in front of about 300 people. As a private event planner, an avid golfer, and part of the Foundation Board, I can't say enough wonderful things about the Entire staff of Dyker.
