I recently had the pleasure of hosting a charity golf outing and gala at Dyker Beach and truly if I could award Dyker Beach Golf Course 6 stars I would. From the first telephone call with Debbie to a morning-after visit to Vicky for extra materials, every moment of the development and coordination of our event was stunning and flawless. As Vice President of The Johnny Mac Foundation and chair of our annual Golf Outing and Gala, I was thrilled by the opportunity to move our full day event from the private clubs on Long Island to the rolling greens of Brooklyn. Without hesitation I can say that the powerhouse staff from Pro Shop to Events put those private clubs to shame! Our 250+ guests were overwhelmed with the five star treatment they received from a fantastic breakfast buffet during registration to the beautiful course, attentive staff, on-course refreshments and amenities. The event was topped off with cocktails on the patio and an evening reception that is still being buzzed about daily. And keep in mind this event went off on the hottest July day in NYC history. Every bite of food throughout the day, morning to night was perfection and all of our guests were just thrilled - and putting in RSVPs for next year contingent upon The Foundation promising to host the event at Dyker once again! We were married at the golf course April 8, 2017 and if we had to do it all over again we'd make all the same choices. The day went so smoothly. The bridal attendant and MC catered to us and all our guests. Everyone commented on the perfect flow of the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception. My husband and I were married at the Dyker Beach Golf Course on October 22, 2011. I consider myself a critic and a perfectionist, but I can honestly say from start to finish our wedding day was perfect! We were married outside at the Gazebo and it was beautiful. We were very lucky to have a sunny day. The outside area is beautiful and overlooks the golf course. That is where we decided to take our pictures -- right on the golf course. I haven't seen the proofs yet, but I know they will be beautiful. The food, which is probably the # 1 thing people care about, is fantastic. From the cocktail hour to the Venetian Hour, everything was outstanding. Our guests have not stopped raving about how great the food was. We had gone for a tasting and was blown away. We were surprised that the food was as good as during the tasting. The staff at Dyker is exceptional. Robert, the Director of Food and Beverage Operations, was so welcoming and genuinely made us feel as though everything was under control. Vicky was our main point of contact during the months of planning and she was terrific. I hope Dyker appreciates how thorough and professional Vicky is -- she was a delight to work with, especially in the stressful days leading up to it. I visited this course while traveling. Like other Yelpers have mentioned - it won't "wow" you. Very expensive for the sub par experience. First off, they do not have many caddies available to rent, so this is not a good place to go if you are traveling and did not bring your own. We had to wait a while to receive our caddies. The clubs desperately need to be replacement. When you step out to find your golf cart and the starter, you'll have to look around. The staff do have a sense of urgency. Not the biggest deal in the world - but for the price, I'd expect just a tad bit more quality in customer service. The biggest reason I had to give this place 1 star is because after leaving, we realized we left my boyfriend's wallet. Once we came back (within 5 minutes), our golf cart had been moved. (Not to mention, when we dropped off our golf cart, there was no one to be found). The wallet had been returned to the front desk, but money had been taken out. Yes, it was an unfortunate mistake to leave our wallet in that golf cart - but money was definitely taken out. When we communicated this with the front desk manager he claimed "Oh...I'll let the guy know". Yeah, pretty much the staff is extremely unhelpful. Played a round with my buddies yesterday. The course was in bad bad condition. There was no tee box market It was replaced with a tree branch. The greens was sandy and slow. I don't know what's going on this this GC. This GC used to be a nice condition local GC. read more

Course is in inexcusably bad condition. Essentially, they just gave up. There are weeds growing in every sand trap and not just a couple! COVERED in weeds! The fairways are chewed up and keep in mind, they didn't open until July due to COVID. The roughs are ridiculous and barely tended. I lose balls that should not be lost because there is hay all over the overgrown rough. And the greens? Chewed up with ball marks everywhere. But still, they are charging full price to play there. I hope this is all temporary austerity measures while they get back on their feet from lost event and golf revenue, but there's no acknowledgement of the crap conditions and seemingly little effort from the grounds crew currently in place to fix it. A sign simply asking us to bear and thanking us for the support would go a long way. read more

I played Dyker Beach yesterday. The course is definitely in good condition, and you can't argue with the price -- I paid $38 to walk 18 holes. Lastly, it supposedly is only about a five-minute walk from the subway, so it's pretty sweet that you don't even have to have a car to get there. However, after playing the first two holes, we arrived at the 3rd tee, only to find THREE OTHER GROUPS waiting to play. So, there was a FOUR-GROUP bottleneck. I've never seen such a problem with pace of play in my life. We had to wait over half an hour to play our next shot. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Get with the program, Dyker Beach! I'm sure you can scrape together a hundred bucks to pay a couple of rangers to patrol the course for the afternoon and keep play moving. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

This golf course has been part of my life ever since I was a little kid. My dad, being the avid golf nut that he is, has taken me here many times throughout my life. As much as I say golf is for nerds, and I cant stand golf, I must say I had a good time playing the 18 holes here last week. I can't play for shit, but I saw some groups that were far far worse. Its also quite funny and entertaining and chaotic watching golf balls flying all over the place. I'm happy I went recently and will back many more times I'm sure with the family. read more

We had our son's First Communion Party at Dyker in the Grand Ballroom. We booked with Eman, who was very nice and helpful. We later worked with Vicky to finalize everything. Venue: First off, the whole place is just BEAUTIFUL. The rooms are decorated tastefully and really, you need minimal decorating on your part. Two of the rooms open up to a big patio that overlooks the golf course. So you aren't just confined to the room. The kids had fun running around outside and some adults even enjoyed eating out there. We wound up having a really nice day, so most people hung out there at some point. Everyone kept telling us how beautiful this place was. You would never think you were in the middle of Brooklyn!! Food: I've never been here, so I didn't know what to expect. I heard really good things, and really bad things about the food. I was hoping and praying for good, and we were not disappointed. We wound up getting the buffet, which was a great way to go. First off---which I didn't even know they were going to do---everyone was greeted with a glass of champagne. Cocktail hour: We got to pick different passing hors d'oeuvres....which my husband said he saw none of. I, however sampled the spinach pie, pigs in a blanket and mini beef wellingtons. All were really good. There was also a room set up with antipasto, etc. I was too busy running around that I never even had a taste, but everyone said it was great. Eman had set up for the kids mini pretzel bites with a honey mustard dipping sauce. The adults were stealing them! haha. They were great. The buffet itself consisted of: maple braised boneless short ribs (out of this world good---everyone raved) chicken marsala (good---your run-of-the-mill marsala) Eggplant rollatini (really good) Tilapia oreganata in white wine sauce (the piece I had tasted a little too fishy, but maybe it was just that one piece?) Penne alla vodka (good) gemelli with sausage/broccolli rabe (I didn't have, but heard it was good) Mixed veggies (good) Kids station: I think the adults enjoyed this just as much as the kids---chicken fingers, french fries, sliders and mozzarella sticks. ALL REALLY GOOD! We also had a house salad, rolls and little butter balls that people thought were the cutest thing ever. Liquor: We had a little snafu with the liquor. Do yourself a favor, either do open bar or stick with the beer/wine/soda. Do NOT pay by keeping a tab. We decided on beer, wine, soda and we'd keep a tab. At my first son's communion, we did open bar and no one drank. So we thought we'd be safe with just keeping a tab this go around. Of course, as our luck would have it, less than an hour into the party, EVERYONE was drinking and our maitre D informed us of our huge tab. He did try to make a deal with us, which was quite a bit more than what Vicky had quoted us for a premium open bar in the first place earlier in the week. My husband was less than thrilled that he wouldn't give us the price orginally quoted for an open bar....especially being we had 7 people that were no shows and had to pay for them anyway (vicky had put the cost of 3 of those towards the liquor bill, but no more). But our hands were tied because we couldn't close it down an hour into the party. So we paid. My husband was NOT happy. But it was what it was...now we know for the future... Dessert We had gotten our cake from Villabate, so we were able to get the ice-cream sundae bar which was a big hit! They also put pastries on the tables as well. (and then the wrapped up the leftovers to take home). We also had a candy table that we had set up from an outside vendor. Dyker was very good with helping her set up. All in all, I thought the Maitre' D' and the servers were very attentive, the room and the whole venue were so beautiful and the food was great. This place is a hidden gem!! My husband and I did a TON of research for our recent NYC wedding. Not only was Dyker Beach a phenomenal deal for the money - the service surpassed what was offered by much more expensive venues by leaps and bounds. The actual golf course is beautiful and a great place to take pictures - especially with the bridge in the background. There is a beautiful garden with a gazebo for the ceremony - little decoration needed. We had a chuppah but nothing else was required. The area for cocktails is a huge patio so you can do outdoor/indoor and the room for the reception is elegant (for a wedding venue) and has a nice big dance floor. The food was delicious - our guests raved. They include the cake (one less step!). The bottom line is that they go out of their way to make everything seamless and easy for the couple. Our families were so impressed with the level of service .Our guests felt completely taken care of. My only word of advice is that the portions are so generous - you can definitely cut down on the first package they will offer you. We didn't need 6 hors d'eourves stations - we did two. Earlier this year my wedding was held here. If you do not want a headache while planning your wedding please do not book here. Negatives: 1) they overbooked my room 2) if it's not in the contract and they promise you something don't expect to get it 3) even if it's in the contract expect them to question it 4) they rather take legal action on you then to make you happy 5) not a lot of desert at Venetian hour 6) they said the room holds up too 300. WEDDING REVIEW. The service is really amazing. Use Eman as your sales person. She really goes beyond her job. I am a pretty tough cookie to deal with. So I don't like to write glowing reviews about anyone. I really felt well taken care of. Being asian and having asian customs, they were able to accommodate me fairly well. Decor- I really love the country style wedding. It really feels spacious and cozy. Food - I have had a lot of wedding food including a lot of more expensive venues in manhattan and their food met the standard. Make sure you add the cod fish to your guest choice. It was very flavorful. The steak was mediocre, it obviously no peter luger but it will do. The chicken was a little dry but i expected it. What i noticed when cooking for massive amount of people the chicken is always over cook. Better overcooked than under cooked. Service - is really why they earned their 5 stars. I really have to give it to Eman. She gave me her cell phone number because i am an overbearing person. I like everything to be perfect. I am surprised how well she put up with me. Having to dealt with a lot of wedding vendors I havent really dealt with anyone like her. CONS - they didnt have a lot of pictures of the food or the wedding venue before we booked it. Thankfully everything was very tastefully done and nothing looked tacky. If you use outside vendors (such as MC /DJ) you have to feed them yourselves. Usually at other vendors they have MC/DJ meal for around 20 dollars but for dyker you have to pay as if they were one of your guest. read more

If you're a New Yorker who doesn't have a car and likes golf then you really only have a couple choices of places to play within a reasonable distance (unless you want to take a cab or a series of buses), Van Cortlandt in the Bronx (1 train) and Dyker Beach in Brooklyn (R train). Both are about a 10 minute walk from the subway. If you have a car there's several more options within the 5 boroughs. I made it out to Dyker Beach for the first time last month and had a great time. The course has been around since the 1890s and Tiger Wood's father learned to play golf there in the 70s. I went on a weekday afternoon by myself without a reservation and got right on (they did pair me with a couple guys though). 18 walking was $31, not a bad deal considering this is a NYC course that is very well maintained and has been around for over a century. I hear their parking lot is a couple bucks and there's also a small fee for making your tee-time online. I completely oppose either of those ridiculous fees as making a tee-time and parking at the course should be included with the greens fees. It's like charging for ice in a drink (which some Manhattan bars are starting to do now). The course had plenty of people on it but it moved along quite smoothly, there were only 2 or 3 holes that ended up being backed up for some reason (I'm sure it's much busier on weekends). Again the course was very clean and well maintained and the view of the Verazanno from nearly every hole was amazing. Unfortunately being where it is in Brooklyn there's a view of a house or street from most holes but it's still fairly quiet. The course is pretty standard, it's not too short or too long, and most of the holes are pretty straight forward (there are a couple dog legs though). There are a few subtle hills, interesting greens, sand traps (no water hazards), and the fairways are well separated so it's still an interesting course. The clubhouse has your standard golf store with reasonable prices for last minute items, a bar with cheap drinks and snacks (a couple of the beers were actually cheaper than the bottled water), and a large hall for events. They also have a great outdoor patio. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I just had my ceremony and reception at Dyker Beach Golf Course and was so impressed by every detail! From the initial planning to the main event, the staff was on point. The day before the wedding I was getting nervous that it might be a little chilly for our outdoor ceremony, so asked Dyker if they'd be able to provide tea or hot chocolate for the guests to help keep them warm. They replied, "no problem at all!" Our guests were not only impressed with the amount of food, but with the quality. What can I say about the Dyker Beach Golf Course? It pretty much made our dream wedding a reality. We had our reception there on June 9, 2012. From the first time we toured the venue to the moment I left at the end of our reception, I knew we made the right decision. If you're looking to get married in Brooklyn but are hesitant about potentially having one of those "Brooklyn weddings", Dyker Beach Golf Course is the way to go. The moment you enter into the circular driveway, it's like you've traveled to a different place. The flowers are in bloom, the trees are green and the grounds are just lovely. Inside the venue is understated and elegant (we're in Dyker Heights people and I'm talking understated elegance, who woulda thought?). The ballroom with it's large windows looking out over the green is phenomenal - the light that comes in is dramatic. Our photos just arrived and we really took advantage of the grounds. The staff aims to please and they take their jobs seriously. Vicky, the Events Planner helped us from the start to finish and we were in fantastic and capable hands. And she's always up for a chat which is sweet. The Maitre D and Bridal Attendant on the wedding day would stop at nothing to make sure we were comfortable the entire time. The food is generous and delicious. Guests are still calling to say how much they enjoyed the food and the presentation. Dyker Beach Golf Course - a bang for your buck too. With all its improvement to the club house, catering hall, and some greens esp the 18th hole, at the end of the day this is still a MUNICIPAL golf course. That means, course should be relatively cheaper than privately or county owned courses, but its not! All revenues collected has been to improve the catering hall, and club house and the course is still crap! The better bargain is to head out to Bethpage State Park. read more

Alright I haven't been here that often because I'm not really a golf player. But I remember the first time I came here, and the person I went with told me were gonna go to a public course I groaned. Hey stuff run but the city usually isn't too pleasant, look at the DMV. However, when I came here I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually very well kept for a city park. The lawns are pretty well manicured and has a nice layout. When I went it was actually not that crowded, which was surprising because it's very cheap when compared to the private courses. read more

As soon as we saw the space, we knew immediately we wanted it there. The venue has a beautiful brick façade and is situated on a golf course (my husband received a free golf voucher for him and 3 of his friends when we booked). Although the name states it, Dyker is not on or near a beach but the space is beautiful nonetheless. Staff: The entire staff who worked the night of our wedding was just absolutely amazing! Our Maitre'd, Banquet Staff, Bridal Attendant, and Waitstaff were just INCREDIBLE!! I can't emphasize it enough how wonderful they were in giving us the utmost best service. Upon our arrival, we were immediately greeted by Leslie, our bridal attendant, and Chris, a banquet staff member. Both welcomed us with a glass of champagne in hand. Throughout the night both were continuously checking on us to make sure we were happy and if we needed anything else, while Leslie didn't leave me drink-less for a minute! I wish I could say the same about the event manager who I worked with leading up to the wedding. She was a bit unresponsive and didn't tell me certain details that I needed for the reception. Regardless, the banquet staff on the wedding night was so amazing that they made the event go on without a hitch! Food: The appetizers, food stations, and hors d'ouevres were all very good. We didn't get to try everything but the lamb chops were to die for. The halibut was a big hit while the filet mignon we were told was a bit well done. We also had the Maryland Crabcake as part of a first course, which was delicious. Our guests raved about how amazing the food was. Space: Cocktail hour opens up to an outdoor space that overlooks the golf course. The main reception room was an addition to the building, which was built in the late 1800's, but you could never tell. It looks as though it has been part of the building forever and is just stunning. There's floor-to-ceiling windows and black chandeliers that give the room a classy and elegant look. . I was here for a wedding reception. All the rooms are very spacious and clean. Service staff are very friendly and accommodating. The wedding itself was magnificent but the overall atmosphere, including the lighting, definitely contributed to the overall positive experience. Such a beautiful venue just minutes away from me. I'm not a golfer but recently have been going to the outdoor driving range at Chelsea Piers and love it. My golfing friends that reside in Manhattan do make the long trip down to Brooklyn just to golf here. I joined my friend here for my first real golfing experience(I am told mini golf does not count lol)! The weather was great, the grass was green and properly maintained and we had an amazing view of the Verrazano bridge. Overall, a beautiful venue with great courses that serves its purpose well. I'm told they also do events here. Will return again for some more practice and when I take my training wheels off. read more

I golf all over the NY and NJ on a regular basis. I can walk to Dyker from my apt, which is one of the only reasons I occasionally play here. The course itself is usually in pretty good condition. It is a nice layout for a NYC public course. The biggest problem here is the pace of play. Expect a 5.5-6.5 hour round on the weekends. You will also never tee off on time. You can have an 8:00 tee time and if you tee off at 8:30 consider yourself lucky. The main reason is the mens club that plays here on the weekends. Tee times continue to get pushed back as more of them show up. There is nothing more irritating than showing up 30 minutes prior to your tee time and then waiting 90 minutes to tee off. read more

Our guests were greeted for a cocktail hour with Christmas trees & lights - festive holiday cocktails & incredible foods were served by candlelight in a room with the roar of working fireplace- straight out of Charles Dickens!!! From planning our special day, a year ago, with Carlo... to perfecting every detail with Vicky...to our Maitre D, Nick, overseeing our happy night -everything was so easy! No stress at all!!! It's pretty nice in that you can usually just stroll right in, wander around almost any part of it whether you're golfing or not.

I really like this golf course. Lots of local flavor, the good kind. Played with some really nice folks. For some reason their golf carts seems faster than the other courses, I think it's because it's kids who run them and they like them fast. Sure play may be slow but that's almost par for the course in NYC public courses. The walk will be brutal in this heat and 86th Street has a lot of pedestrian traffic. Make it a day there, have a nice Chinese dinner and Italian deserts. The other nice Brooklyn course is Marine Park. Weird hearing jet skis going by at that course. read more

The course was in decent shape, but the greens were pretty inconsistent with a lot of dirt patches. I would recommend Pelham Bay/Split Rock or Clearview instead. read more

The staff and service was extremely helpful when it came to all aspects of the wedding process and day. They really knew how to tie the odds and ends and as well as accomodate all the "wants" that we asked for to make our day as special as it was.
