The atmosphere of this restaurant felt welcoming. They have live music when I went and it was very good to enjoy. Service was good, was checked on multiple times throughout my visit. My husband and I went for lunch I got the Grande nachos, which were cold. My husband got the lunch fajitas the skillet was barely sizziling. . his beans and rice were cold. We won't go back. I ordered the Birria enchiladas and they were delicious and the rice/beans were exceptional. I thought the salsa was weak but not terrible. We enjoyed a couple margaritas and they were also good. We spent 11 years in Texas and ate many times at Ninfas and other Tex mex places and they were good but I really enjoyed the other Mexican dishes here. A friend from Port Neches has been telling me about this place for years. Specifically the fired stuffed avocado. Port Neches is hundreds of miles away from where I call home, so not convenient! All the years I've been hearing of stuffed avocados have piqued my interest in the idea. So back home I started a quest of trying to find local restaurants with fried stuffed avocados. Taking my friend to the various places always yielded the same response, "It's not like Rancho Grande!" And after trying them tonight for the first time I get it. They are amazing. Unfortunately my friend has been living away for quite a few years, so this was sort of a homecoming for him to show off how good these stuffed avocados really are. There was a bit of a freak out since the menu has changed since his last visit, but thankfully they still have them. You just have to ask for them. It is so worth it. You can get beef or chicken. Both are good so go with what you like. The salsa was yummy as well. It is served warm, which is hard to find. Warm salsa is my favorite as it feels more fresh. The margaritas are good too. They definitely made the evening enjoyable. But try the stuffed avocado! It's so good! read more

We decided to give Rancho Grande another chance after a lackluster take out experience several months ago. This trip was dine-in on a Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded, but there was no wait. We were seated in a side room and given the obligatory chips and salsa. The chips were fresh, but the salsa was just OK. Unlike many I've had, this salsa was served heated. I ordered "The Sheriff" which is a combo of steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas. We also ordered the guacamole which was prepared table side. The guacamole was the highlight of the meal. It was actually good, especially considering that I am not particularly fond of avocados. The fajitas came sizzling with equal portions of each item. The shrimp were cut down the middle so they were flat. While cooked perfectly they still had the shell on. Because they were flattened they were very difficult to peel. The chicken and steak were cooked well, but weren't very good. Service was slow, but friendly. It seems that this place is very popular, but I'm not a big fan. read more

Ribeye steak was a big 12Oz steak that looks great on presentation, but after tasting my first bite, I just couldn't finish my plate. Way to spicy on the pepper side, it completely overpowered the steak taste. It was soft and medium to medium well as I asked, but no flavor at all. It's really a shame that such a good piece of meat was wasted this way. Also my Michelada was way to spicy and salty almost no beer flavor at all. Not sure if I will give this place a 2nd chance!!! Conveniently located in hotel row and a stones throw from The Hampton Inn, this Tex-Mex locale had a full parking lot signaling it as a good place to eat. Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and sweet personality and seated immediately. Our server was a very pleasant young man who made sure to keep our drinks full and our experience positive. The food was delicious!! In fact I was slightly drooling looking at my dates appetizing plate -and snuck a few yummy bites! I had fish tacos, grilled to perfection! Just the right amount of fillings and sauce. My guy had Shrimp Enchiladas with a creamy sauce with cheese melted on top. Seriously, they should consider adding that sauce as a side, I'd have put it on my fish tacos for sure! Poorest service I've seen in a long time. They don't even deserve 1 star. I went for lunch and sat at the bar to watch the baseball game on TV. After sitting there for 10 minutes my order was taken by a waiter. After another 15 minutes, already expecting my food to arrive, a second waitress comes and says to the guy next to me that they aren't taking cards only cash! I notified her my waiter hadn't told me anything, and I old had cards. She says she's talk to her manager. You'd expect, they would take you information down or give you a chance to run to the ATM. Well after another 10 mins, I'm getting a little impatient, the waitress comes back and says my order was canceled!! Not only should I have been notified by the hostess that they were only taking cash, but I the waiter should have let me know as well before taking my order. The manager didn't even have the decency to come speak to me to figure out a solution he just pain canceled my order and let me sit there. After being humiliated, and denied service, I drove down the road to La Cantina and has my lunch. They have better food and service anyways. I should have drove there since the start. First off, yes my name stands for The Truth. So, let me tell you The Truth about my experience. When we first walked in we were seated quickly, but when we sat down, we had to wait awhile just for drinks. we had to survive on chips for about 15 minutes :/ and then this employee decided to let the whole restaurant hear her laugh. Like miss girl, I don't think it was that funny. We finally had someone come up to us and ask us if anyone attended us. After that, they actually started attending us. Rancho Grande in Nederland by Central Mall hands has the BEST table side guacamole! As you see our bowl didn't last more than 10 min and I was choking down so much I forgot to take a pic beforehand;). The lunch menu is very affordable. We all got something different- grilled chicken diablo, green enchiladas, tamales, and enchilada bean special. Their red sauce has a great kick to it but it doesn't make your nose run so you can still enjoy it. The chips are fresh. Yeah!! You see that drink. One of lunch mates didn't realize how big the drink was but she tried to down some of it ;). If you want to eat some good Tex-Mex with a great environment and super waitstaff go by this place. Way over priced, forgot beans and rice on one of my meals, don't order Togo you get 3 bags of chips and a tiny cup of salsa(1 4oz cup) The burrito was dry and unmanageable the entire thing consist of rice and meat, the queso on the outside is the same as Dairy Queen queso that's made of powder and water. Everyone raved about this place and how amazing it was... so we went for lunch and left feeling very let down. We all ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp which was supposed to have jalapeno in it.... none of us could find any. The flavor was just "ok"... as in 3 stars and I wonder if they know what salt and pepper is. Service was ok for a lunch crowd but I really have to wonder what everyone see's in this place. The service was sub par..waiter did not come back and check on us, some of our food was cold, and it took over an hour to with literally no other customers. Beef fajitas were good and flavorful. Queso dip and crispy ground beef tacos were a bit mediocre. The chips & salsa is slightly different from other Tex Mex places because the salsa is served warm. We got our food VERY quickly...about 5 minutes after we ordered it! read more

Rancho Grande is a pretty average Mexican Tex-Mex restaurant. I usually order the fajitas chicken and beef with flour tortillas feed a group of 4 or 5. I wasn't very impressed with the serving portions and quality of the meat, it was a little hard to chew and too dry at times. They do have HAPPY HOUR from 2pm to 5pm so that helps if you're looking for margaritas! Don't take it the wrong way, it's not a bad place. I've just had better meals at other Tex-Mex establishments. The service is a hit or miss but they are usually attentive to you if you are polite and nice when you ask for things. read more

Rancho Grande used to be one of my favorite places to go when I visit home until I had a terrible experience last June . I made reservations almost a month in advance to celebrate an important milestone. The young lady who was the manager that day was rude. She kept telling me I didn't have reservations because they don't make reservations on the weekend. When I told her I knew the manager and would give him a call her attitude changed. She called Carlos and he confirmed that I indeed had reservations. After that fiasco I said I would never come back. Well almost a year later I thought I would give them a try again. I placed a togo order. When I made it home I noticed I didn't have one of the items I ordered. I called and asked if there was a way they could just refund me for the missing item since I didn't live close to the restaurant. The young lady told me no, they couldn't do that. I said no problem I'll just come back. She said okay we have your order ready. I showed up and the manager gave me the receipt showing they refunded me for the missing item. I was thinking maybe he refunded me and remade the order because they young lady literally just said they couldn't do this without me being present. He said no, we didn't make remake it . We just reissued the refund . So I basically drove all the way back to the restaurant for nothing. No apology. Nothing. Not sure what's going on here but the customer service is not the same. read more

I have always heard about Rancho Grande and had to give it a chance. I like to think of myself as a Tex-Mex/ Mex-Mex connoisseur so here goes. We went on a thursday for happy hour around 6:00 and the crowd was bustling. The place was full, but there were still some tables open. We decided to sit on the patio, which we sort of regretted because you can smoke out there, but luckily, not too many people were smoking. They start you off with some chips and salsa which are decent, but nothing to write home about. Same goes for the queso. I prefer my queso thick and spicy and Rancho delivered what I considered watery queso. The quantity of queso did make up for its shortcoming though. For drinks we both got jumbo frozen margaritas. I wouldn't brag about its fresh ingredients or homemade mix, but it still tasted good. After two of these bad boys, I was feeling tipsy. Don't even ask what happened after three! For an entree I ordered the Chile Relleno filled with chicken. I have been on a Chile Relleno kick and it has become my new barometer for good Mexican food. So how did Rancho do? Pretty good. The refried beans tasted good and had a nice chunky consistency. The rice was equally as tasty. The star of the show, scores a 3 out of 5. The chile was thoroughly cooked, topped with cheese while the chicken was properly cooked and not dried out. I think they could have spiced the chicken a little better, but you can solve that with some Cholula sauce. While I have been to more vibrant Mexican restaurants, I will come back to Rancho Grande if I can't make it to Houston. read more

My friend took me here last week. I have to say the steak fajitas were to die for. Big thick cuts of meat, melt in your mouth meat. Table side guacamole was a nice treat and delicious. the wait staff was prompt, very friendly, and treated us like we were her only customer. Takes a certain talent to do that.
