His belongings were stolen from the men's locker room, and we immediately filed a police report. After over a month of no communication, management finally reached out saying they "might" have a suspect. About a week later, we were told the bag had suddenly reappeared in the locker room after a nightly check--which raises serious concerns. When we retrieved the items, cash ($300) and a YSL cologne were missing. There are too many inconsistencies, and the situation feels poorly handled and unprofessional. What's more concerning is the lack of accountability--calls to the GM have gone unanswered, and no effort has been made to offer compensation or reassurance. For a facility that markets itself as luxury, this experience fell far below expectations. I've also since heard of similar incidents happening in the men's locker room, which is alarming.

After 11 months of pushing myself with the help of numerous trainers and advice, I gave Brian a try. Most of the trainers I had worked with were terrific in the weight room but knew "just enough" about nutrition. Brian is an expert in both. After months of being stuck in the same place, Brian took me to the next level. I lost 16lbs and 3% Body Fat during those 7 weeks. Was it easy?? HECK NO, but every day was a challenge and Brian was right there with me to keep me on track. Thank you, Brian, let's keep going!

Brian has hands-down given me that edge and provided me with a foundation for longevity, mobility, strength and conditioning. I came to him after my wife gave birth (I had gained 15-20 pounds when my wife was pregnant). I not only was out of shape, but also experiencing various pain in my hips and legs from my workouts (lack of stability strength on top of lots of running). I lost 25-30 pounds with Brian, but not only that - I now am in a much better position with my flexibility, strength and conditioning for extending my long-term health and fitness. This comes from a focus not only on workouts, but also on nutrition. Brian helps to shape workouts to your preference and helps to focus in on what is working and what is not with your eating habits. Losing weight becomes very easy - frankly, I now work to keep weight on! Finally, Brian is very knowledgeable and overall a great guy. He is easy to work with and accommodating to clients - especially those with demanding jobs (e.g. law, finance, etc.) Would highly recommend Brian!!

I am SO happy I walked through the doors at Spark and found this awesome team of people who are somehow equally laid back (because no one wants to be intimidated at the gym) AND at the same time motivating (because it feels amazing to get the most out of your workout and see results). I love the format- like personal training but with flexibility- having professional workouts and guidance while being able to go at your own pace. I joined this club because I have been a high-end fitness club member for many years. When I moved here from California, I tried the LifeTime in Burr Ridge and quickly quit because the place was so filthy and crowded all the time. Forced to take some time off due to a medical issue, I began examining my gym options once again in the area. Score Sports down the street from my house wouldn't even answer membership inquiries (I filled out two), I didn't like what the Country Clubs in the area had to offer, and Five Seasons didn't seem like my vibe. I walked into Midtown and immediately saw that it was a great place for me to get my workouts done in an environment I'm accustomed to. The other bonus is that I don't have to pay extra fees for childcare, which added up big time at other gyms between my four children. Do I wish they had a well developed hot power vinyasa program geared toward master yogis? Yes. But what I'm really here for is the weight room, the fact that I have a spot I can do CrossFit WODs on my own, or I can join a variety of classes from spin to Pilates if it works with my schedule. This gym is a lot smaller than the gym I was a member at in California for many years, but I like the fact that it's a bit more quaint and exclusive. People are really just here to workout, just like I am. I like that. I'm not at the gym to be social, I'm there to achieve my fitness goals. As an aside, their Kidtown allows food from the Cafe to be ordered and delivered to your children. This means I can come around lunch time when the kids are out of school, feed them lunch, AND I GET TO WORKOUT! The only caveat is that because my 8-month old isn't walking yet, the kids can only stay for 90 minutes. But when the little one is walking I'll have 2 1/2 hours of freedom -- and that to me is priceless.

PROS: The staff! Really their best asset is their friendly…read morestaff members who get to know you. This includes wonderful trainers who can take you from zero to hero as far as someone who NEVER works out, to someone who can develop a fitness routine. Programs: Lots of great programs like Tennis-In-No-Time, swim lessons for kids, and as I said before, great trainers you can book to achieve your personal goals. Tons of equipment to choose from in a bright, open space. Some regulars you can get to know and learn techniques from. CONS: Pool area feels too "open". Don't need peep windows all around the pool. I felt weird swimming in there so I never did. Close it off. Management change up/corporate vibe. Don't let you even hold your account for a month now (even though they used to). It's a pricey, luxury gym with clients that pay more to get more so making people jump through tons of hoops to hold a month for travel, work, etc doesn't gel with that vibe. If you give a months notice this should allow plenty of time to adjust staffing. You have to pay extra for a lot of stuff, so in order to use a lot of what really makes a gym like this worth the extra $ in the first place, you have pay EVEN MORE. Otherwise you are mostly utilizing equipment, classes, and such that you can get at other gyms for way less.

Other…read morewomen would approach me for conversation if I was at the bar, and I'd exchange casual smiles with people while passing them in the grocery store--just typical daily interactions. Rarely did I receive compliments on my looks or get hit on. But when people met me after I got "sexi smexi," it was a night-and-day difference. As some of my best friends have told me, I come across as "intimidating" and "mean." I've had people tell me that before they got to know me, they thought I'd beat them up. I've had guys tell me that other guys wouldn't date me because they're too afraid--that I'm "too sexy." I can walk straight to the front of any VIP line at a nightclub and get in. I get hit on significantly more, and I've even been offered a lot of money in exchange for my "time," which never happened before I joined UFC. People offer me jobs more often and try to recruit me for marketing. Rich men and athletes have taken me out on very luxurious dates... and let me tell you, it's slightly exhausting. I used to work from home and didn't see many people, so going into busy places made me anxious. Before, I just wanted to blend in. Now, all I do is stand out I'm not even wearing lip gloss, but I be poppin', and all these boys' lips be droppin'. I know it's just human nature. People are attracted to a juicy Caboosey--the compliments are endless. It's almost as if I can say nothing wrong. I assure you, I'm an awkward person, and I do say awkward things--but people jump in to save the conversation when that happens. Before I started working out, people were still very nice to me. I didn't get approached as much--especially at night--but I still received compliments. Just nothing compared to how I look now. My friends have even asked me to "dial it down" at the gym because they're tired of all the guys hitting on me and leaving none for them. To me, though, it doesn't matter what you look like. It doesn't matter if you go to the gym to build muscle, lose weight, stay in shape, or whatever--what matters is whether you're comfortable with yourself. If you want to be 10 feet tall and that makes you happy--do it. If a certain workout is too much for you and you love being the way you are--don't do it. Don't follow what others are doing--just be you, and let everyone else be them Because regardless of shape, size, or anything else, underneath it all, we're all 10s. What really matters is what's on the inside. "Maybe if we loved ourselves, it wouldn't be so hard to love each other." -- Skizzy Mars The whole point is not to value everything based on your looks, but instead on your achievements and how you feel physically and mentally. Working out has made me more physically fit , which has given me more confidence--but that confidence should have always been there, regardless of how I looked. Some people only notice your appearance, but there's so much more to a person than that. Maybe in a galaxy far, far away, there are people who are just specks of light with no bodies... because when we're 80 , we're all going to look the same ‍ I've definitely been my own biggest hater before--fueling myself with negativity because of how I looked, how clothes fit, and how I compared myself to others. It's an uphill battle to love yourself 100% of the time. There's a lot of negativity and pressure to be a certain way. It's okay to not know where to start. It's okay to take a step back or take a break. Don't let your mind play games with you--you are stronger than you think and capable of things you never thought possible. So baby gorl (or boi), wear whatever you want, treat your body like a temple, and just be you. Thank you, UFC, for being awesome and for being a place where people can grow and have fun.
