This scam shop quoted me 4.5k for a calf sleeve in writing (still have it), then demanded 3.5k after the first session, saying it would be 12k total to complete! Out of respect, I paid the 3.5k, applied my deposit and we went our separate ways. Today, they posted an Instagram reel insinuating a customer was broke after paying for their work. "How I look at my customer after paying for 2k worth of work" with a stalling truck audio. They do not care about their customers, and the reel was clear in its implications. This shop is a scam, no calf tattoo is 12k. Alex routinely took two hour lunches, and was never on time for appointments. Total losers. By their estimates, they demand $700 an hour. Go to a real shop, this is not the place for you. I worked with this shop for multiple pieces, and they took advantage of me one too many times. read more

Wow, who spent $350 on 2 earlobe piercings? me. They never explained pricing except for the piercing itself (I selected a nicer looking one and they said its $100 for these) but they didn't tell me its $100 EACH just for a simple flower piercing (I can find the same thing for $50 for a pair online with the same quality) Mind you, the piercer is nice (maybe too chatty and takes way too much time) and she kept on complimenting my piercings (which I feel like she was trying to butter me up) but come on. The ear piercing itself is $70. I know not to go to Claires but it shouldn't cost $350 for earlobe piercings. Also they ask for a 20% tip gratuity which would of been another $70... Gtfo I realized later that the lady asked if I wanted different colored flowers (she said some people don't like it to match) and I said no, i want matching. well, i realized the reason she asked, my piercings are not the same color. maybe the one she suggested for my first piercing was the last one and she just gave me a color that is similar. I wanted to get my septum and Medusa done on the same day and luckily she was able to squeeze me in I went down this rabbit hole of bad experience with the Medusa piercing. Way OVER PRICED for the quality of the work. Iwant to start off my review by saying I travel alot for work and getting a tattoo in every state I visit has been my thing and I like to give an honest review for every shop. Dzul ink lounge was one of the 3 tattoo shops I reached out to in the Seattle area and were the first to respond and Who i ultimately went with because i was on a time crunch. I wanted two tattoos "un día a la vez" in a small script and "Est. 1993" in old English. I had mentioned 2x4 for the 1993 and possibly 1-2 inches in size for the Est which would include shading to connect to a previous tattoo I had. The original quote I got was between $950-$1500 with a deposit of $200 (100 per tattoo). $250-400 for the "Un dia a la vez" in script. $700-1100 for the set 1993 and shading. I sent over my deposit because I wanted to ensure my spot was secured since no other tattoo shopped responded in a timely manner. Deposit was $220.50 with tax included. I got to the shop early because Athena stated Alejandro had the evening free and could have seen me sooner. Once I saw the stencil for my old English tattoo- the font was not what I requested despite the many reference photos I sent. So Athena had to rush to customize the tattoo with what I wanted. I ended up waiting about 2 hours before getting sat in the chair. Ultimately, my un día a la vez tattoo was much smaller then the stencils Athena originally created and I did not end up getting the additional shading for my old English tattoo to connect to my previous tattoo I already had. So I thought the price was going to be on the lower side being that I had already sent a deposit, sized down, removed shading, and waited two hours for a new old English design. I was wrong. The overall price of my tattoos was 1,323.00. I will say this was way over priced for what I got. My script tattoo is already fading, and is not straight. Athena did say they offered free touch ups before 90 days but they knew I was on travel for work so that wasn't an option. And my old English tattoo- the lines are just not straight, the corners are not sharp, and the 9's are completely different . The two other shops did finally get back to me and quoted me half the price for both tattoos of what I payed here at Dzul Ink Lounge but my mistake was settling and sending a deposit prior to giving other shops a chance. Giving this shop a 2 because they have good customer service as far as communication and making you feel welcomed (but it all just may be apart of the plan to over charge their customers.) and 2 stars because my tattoos are already fading and are not completely filled in. If you ask why did I pay?- well I committed to the service and the right thing to do was pay and there was no option of staying longer or coming back for a "free touch up". Great people but I probably won't be back for another tattoo when in Seattle again. I should have read the reviews down below which clearly outline how over priced this place is. read more

I decided to get my sleeve started last year. Dzul Lounge helped me choose the art and customize what I wanted. The lounge itself is super aesthetic with dope art all over in the building. It has a relaxing vibe and the staff are great. I decided to go with a floral tattoo and chose a rose. They designed it and I was able to have input and make changed if needed. Once I decided to get the tattoo the experience was great. The artists are top notch and their line work and quality is unmatched. I was able to relax and watch my favorite film, The Dark Knight, while getting my tattoo work done. I am still happy with the finished product and I love how it turned out. Dzul is my #1 place to get tattooed in Seattle. Alex has done everything for me from small fine line to cover up to half sleeve. With tattoos, you pay for what you get and here, I've gotten some of the most thoughtful service and professional tattoo experience of my life. I literally almost fell asleep during a rib tattoo, and yes, it healed perfectly and all the colors stayed after. There are much cheaper options in the area, but the quality is no where near as good. While expensive for the area, this studio is actually priced quite reasonably for the caliber of tattoo they provide. A great find for people who are serious about their tattoos and want them to last! They have also always been willing to work with me for every part of the process from design to working directly with the artist to budget - you just have to ask!! 10/10 would recommend read more

I've been wanting to start my sleeve for years and when I found Dzul I was immediately impressed with their 20 year history of tattooing in Seattle, and the amazing quality of their tattoos. Their works speaks for itself. Jacob and Alex are the two main tattoo artists and both are very capable, I ended up getting tattooed by Jacob. To start the process I had a free tattoo consultation where my ideas felt heard and we collaborated on the design of the tattoo and made sure it was exactly what I wanted. The actual tattoo appointment was comfortable, they put on any shows or music I wanted throughout the tattoo to pass the time and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The final design that they presented us with based on the example we provided was just as good as we expected it to be. I'm gonna try to sum it all up in this review, but might miss some points. But overall this place is a SCAM!!! Firstly, I was given a quote by the girl (Janee) working the front desk for my idea of a dragon ($1500 - $2000). Then, after I paid my deposit she changed it to $1800 - $2000. We spoke about compromising "details" in lieu of a "bigger size". Anyway, about 2 weeks later I get a Zoom mtg with another girl (Jessica) to discuss what they had put together using Google and a Photo Shop app of some sort. I wanted to ensure I'm still within my budget so she said she'd speak to the Artist (Jacob) to discuss size, pricing, and to ensure I'm within my budget. Well, this never occurred. I never got a call because I had to be the one to call them back and, as it turns out, Jessica never even spoke to the Artist. My 2nd call was a waste of time because Janee basically spoke about what I had already spoken to Jessica about with regards to the Dragon I wanted. I show up to my appt day and the Artist was about 1 hr & 15 mins late (they try to cover this up by saying that the 1st hr will be to fill-out paperwork and stuff, but the paperwork only took about 15 mins and the rest of the time I just waited and waited and waited... Finally, the artist (Jacob) arrives and sees my Dragon that I wanted done (he sees it for the 1st time!!!). The artist does not even talk to you about your piece, instead the girls at the front desk do all the work using Google and some Photo Shop app to put together what you want (no originality, no uniqueness, no artist touch, etc). The artist then charges me $2500 (before tax & tip). I had to get Janee into the conversation because she totally gave me a different quote. I specifically told her that I'm okay for a not-so-detailed art/dragon as long as the size (forearm length) is prioritized and stay within my budget of $2000 max. Right off the bat there's MISCOMMUNICAITON (or lack thereof) between the girls and the artists. Jacob (artist) tells me that, ultimately, the artist's quote/price supersedes the girls quotes. I had to bargain with Jacob because I had to forgo the details for size and he took off only $100 (total price before tax and tip = $2400). This $2400 is basically outline and shading, NO artistic touch / details at all. But because I'm impatient (a bad habit of mine) and my deposit was non-refundable, I went ahead with the tattoo even though everything was simply a SCAM, disorganized and chaos. I had taken time off from work so I was desperate to go ahead and impulsively get this tattoo done. About halfway thru, Jacob tells me his battery died and does not have another battery as back-up; therefore, he needed to charge his battery which took about 40 or so minutes. What I was told was that the session will be about 5 hrs long, which is Bullsh*t because he did not show up until after 1hr & 15mins, then takes another half hour to discuss pricing and the miscommunication between the artis and the girls working the front desk, then takes about 40mins to charge his battery midway -- so, basically for about $2900 (after tax and tip), your "true" session time is a little over two hours all in all. Yet, they claim to be a "little more pricey than others because of 'quality'" -- Bullsh*t!!! The quality they're talking about is Google and a Photoshop applicaiton. This was some EXPENSIVE tattoo -- one that lacked details and is basically an outline and shading, yet cost me $2900. This is why I call this place and its team a "SCAM / FRAUD"!!! Go there at your own risk!!! Beware!!! I will just let KARMA takes its course because I'm a firm believer that when you do "dirty" business, it'll come back to haunt you eventually (Karma)... read more

I'd give them 10 stars if I could! I was in desperate need of finding a tattoo shop to fix my barbell tattoo that I previously had done in July. My friend recommended Dzul Ink Lounge to me so I checked out there website and portfolios... I was sold! Everything from the consultation to the process of getting the actual tattoo coverup exceeded my expectations! When you walk into the tattoo/piercing shop you automatically don't feel like you're in a tattoo/piercing shop. It definitely feels like a lounge! The location is very spacious, comfortable spots to sit at, and the most beautiful art I've ever seen in a tattoo shop. Great music too! Also, when you sit in for your tattoo, they have a tv that you can watch. I cannot thank them enough (especially Alejandro) for the amazing service they provided me with. My boyfriend accompanied me and he even said that it felt like he's been there multiple times before. Alejandro was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and freaking hilarious! READ THIS FULLY They deserve way more stars than possible! There are 2 parts to my review. This first is for Emma. She is amazing. She was super kind and willing to help me problem solve my tattoo idea so that it was possible. I got something simple. I didn't have an appointment. But I called to make sure there would be someone available to take a walk in. Emma answered the phone and was actually nice. Which was refreshing because I have talked to many piercers and artists who were the exact opposite of what I experienced with Dzul Ink Lounge. She said that she would be willing and available to take me in. I sent her over my idea and some details. (For the shop) Within the hour, the shop called me and I talked with someone about what I was envisioning. Sometimes I suck with words. And let me tell you, I was not very helpful when he was asking me about the font and how detailed. And yet, he too was very kind and helpful. When I got there, Emma introduced herself professionally and we immediately got started on piecing together my idea. After some discussion and problem solving, we came to a solution. She was confident in herself and yet, she had me double check the design to make sure there were no errors. And I really appreciate that. She quoted me a price that I was expecting and happy with. Even though I was a walk in, the wait wasn't too long. Once she was ready for me, we went over the image again. She placed it where I wanted it and made me look at it from several different angles. From looking dead at it, looking in a mirror, looking at it with movement. Every angle. She really wanted me to be positive that I was going to be happy. The shop was very clean and organized. She took her time sterilizing my skin. Once the stencil was on, she again had me check and double check the placement. I'm not a talker (and I'm surprised this review is so long but it's so necessary) and it wasn't awkward with her. She has a very calm, peaceful presence about her. As I watched her, I noticed that she went over the tattoo a couple times. And I was surprised. I've seen others getting tattoos, and most times I've witnessed, they never go over the design. But she would look at every little part closely and from different angles. She was very precise. Once we were done, she gave me the run down on aftercare. She was very knowledgeable it's shocking. I left extremely pleased! I will be coming back for all my other ink. I paid what she quoted me (plus a little extra). They charge by art piece, not by hour. If I went to any other place, I would've been charged double than what Emma charged me. It's taken me this long to get my tattoos because I never found the perfect artists. I've looked EVERYWHERE!! I just so happened to come across their website and was immediately intrigued. EVERY ARTIST has amazing skills. Everything I saw, I was astonished. So much so that I didn't even care which one of them it would be. I am glad it was Emma. She is very skilled. (The shop) OKAY, the last things I'll say. ANOTHER thing that was impressive to me. I had a question regarding my tattoo and what is normal for the day after (got it yesterday). With in 5 minutes, Emma responded to my email. I went in to add to an existing tattoo from another artist (for reference to the pictures - I only had the broom when I went in) I got my tattoo at Dzul with Alejandro back in October. I took so long to write a review because I've been trying to forget about the whole experience, but people should be cautious and aware of this business before going in. I went in a month in advance to get a quote and discuss a design. My original idea was quoted much higher than I wanted to pay ($1200+), and I expressed that. In order to schedule an appointment you have to put down a non-refundable deposit, which I decided to do because it's almost impossible to get a spot with an artist these days (first mistake-take the time to find the right artist even if it means you're waiting months to get in). The next day, I emailed them a new/much smaller (about 1/4 of what I originally went in for) design and requested an updated quote. After 2 weeks of no one reaching out and only 2 weeks before my scheduled tattoo appointment, I phoned them myself for the quote. The lady on the phone quoted me at $350 and I thought that's perfect. I did an art review the next week via Skype and the design wasn't even finished for the review so there was little to discuss, another waste of time. I was also very disappointed that not only do they create all of their designs on the computer (no hand drawings), but the person doing your tattoo is not the same person designing the art. Both of these aspects makes your art lack a lot of creativity and intimacy. I prefer to work with the artist on the design and have them put their own touch on it, but instead, they just took my drawing and did an almost exact recreation of it on the computer, and that was the piece (remember - no refunds on the deposit). The day of the appointment, I had a 3 hour time slot (their suggestion, not mine), and since the art wasn't finished on my review date, a couple of adjustments needed to be made to it. Instead of doing this right away so I could get started, they helped everyone else that came in after me. Not only that, but then the artist decided to take an hour break so after 1.5 hours, I finally got started. An hour later, we were done. Going up to pay, and they were charging me now $900, saying the lady who gave me the $350 quote didn't update the system so no one knew about it. The artist and I'm assuming part owner, was in the background listening saying he wouldn't have even touched me for that price. The lady that helped me tried to play the "he's a professional, all of the details and line work he did is what the price covers". I honestly couldn't believe it, but this company completely robbed me. Not only that, but the line work is absolutely shotty (too thick in some areas, too thin others) and already fading and there's very minimal details in it. I would 100% not recommend this company unless you're looking for something very basic and you double, triple check that you are being quoted properly before going in and getting started. Because there are so many people working at the front desk handling the art and quotes that things obviously get lost easily and they take no responsibility for any mistakes and actually care so little for the customers, just what's in your wallet. read more

I've been consistently pleased with my experience here. My first project was my caribou neck piece. I sat down with one of their artists and he took some basic info down and we looked over some examples of what I had in mind. I wanted a combination of gaelic artwork, specifically the trinity knot, combined with a northwest native inspired caribou to represent my daughters combined heritage. I was extremely happy with the artwork he created and then I had the tattoo done. It took about three hours and my artist, Alex, was very gentle. Very little pain, easy healing process. I came back within the 90 day timeframe for a free touch up. They even welcomed me back in during the healing process to apply more of the protective wrapping spur of the moment. Second piece was again created by a separate artist than my tattoo guy. They have you set up an appointment to go over ideas and inspiration and then trace your body part, take measurements, go over cost estimates and then schedule the actual tattoo date. My tattoo pansy took about five hours for the front. A second appointment was made to complete the back vine. I was able to again schedule a free touch up on my second piece. ** I want to also share to anyone who wonders why their tattoos may fade quickly, sunshine is a huge culprit.** I was not as cautious as I should have been with my blue pansy and it did fade more than I had wanted. That was from exposing it to sunshine too soon after the process. This was totally corrected during the free touch up, and I have learned my lesson on that! Third piece was an art nouveau inspired shoulder tattoo. Same process as before. Turns out the guy who designs my tattoos is very well versed in historical art nouveau artists and was familiar with some of my favorite pieces. Tattoo took about 6 hours total. The color is amazing. I unfortunately missed my 90 day free touch up by about a week. I take full responsibility for that. They give their customers ample time to come back in for their touch ups. Don't do what I did folks! Don't push it to the last minute. I had my appointment for my fourth piece right before the covid virus temporarily closed up all tattoo parlors. I'm set to get another art nouveau floral piece this time on my wrist. I can't wait to see what the illustration will be and have my new artwork done.... as soon as it's safe to open! I want to respond to some of the negative reviews with my own experiences. I have priced around to other parlors and have found that the costs might be cheaper than Dzul, but the experience, quality, talent and guaranteed cleanliness and safety are worth paying a little extra more. These are on our bodies for life. We do not want to shop around for the cheapest price as if we're buying furniture. Also both the tattoo designers and the tattoo artists themselves are always very upfront and communicative about the costs and any changes to those costs. Color, detailing, enlarging the illustrations all increase costs. I direct everyone to get their work done here. read more

Racist business owner. First said that my brother couldn't get a cartilage piercing because it isn't allowed under 18. Our mother was there with her I.D., my brother's birth certificate, and his school I.D. Owner said held up a paper that in fact CONTRADICTED her own statement and later said she "isn't comfortable doing cartilage piercings for people under 18". It was clear she didn't trust my mother's age (of course black dont crack, my mama looks young) but she brought all the identification needed. Owner scrutinized and looked at my brother's birth certificate for a good 5 minutes. It was clear she didn't want us there. Dont recommend this business, already has bad reviews anyway. Why would they say "yes, bring in the paperwork" and then refuse when we walk in? What?? We have no problem being told no; YOU have a problem being respectful and mindful of people's time. And then, how could he lie about his age if he brought in his BIRTH CERTIFICATE? What the heck? How do you expect a 16 year old to have a state issued Id? What do they think the BIRTH CERTIFICATE is for? Your comment contradicts yourself. You say a 16 yr old can't get a cartilage piercing, and then ask for iD? You make no sense. I went in last night for a septum piercing, and was super nervous because it was my 4th time having it pierced over the years (long story), and each consequent time I've had it done it's been more and more painful. However, Catalina did an INCREDIBLE job. I don't know how she pulled it off, but aside from my earlobes, that was the most painless piercing I've ever had. My eyes didn't even water. She was incredibly fast getting the needle and jewelry in, the whole thing took 15 minutes tops. She also nailed the placement, as I asked her to aim a little higher just to make it easier to flip up when necessary. AND she had a bag of trial sized concealer I could use after since I was going out and the cleaning process wiped off my foundation. I walked in on a Friday night w/o an appointment expecting it to be busy, but I only to wait about 10 minutes. Very friendly staff, very clean and sterile environment, just a genuinely comfortable experience. The prices are also VERY reasonable in comparison to other places in Seattle. Not sure why took me so long to write this review. I got a tattoo from Alejandro back in December 2020. It was my first tattoo in over 10 years I had some less than desirable experiences other shops in the area and their professionalism. Not only we're all the staff at Dzul Ink lounge professional, but they were also incredible artists. The shop manager and Alejandro worked incredibly hard on making my piece perfect. The day of the tattoo they were set up and ready to go and made me feel at ease with having this life-changing piece Put on me. I was in the seat for about eight hours that day at which time and great conversation with Alejandro, and realize how truly passionate he is about tattooing. I cannot recommend shop enough. Bottom line up front, I cannot recommend this place. The one upside is that you are able to get in quickly and they employees are polite to talk to. However, that is where the positives of the expiernece end. Dzul quoted and scheduled me for 14 hours' worth of sessions, stating that each would be billed based on the work done. However, when I got my tattoo, it only took a tiny bit over 2 hours. They then proceeded to say the total, subtracting their $500 deposit, was $2900. Meaning they charge over $1300 per hour for a tattoo. This was completely absurd and is clear dishonesty and price gouging as even the most well-known artists in the state do not charge rates more than $300 an hour. There is no acceptable reason to bill at 630% of the quoted rate. I honestly do not know what else to say other than this. Be aware of this place, even if their art portfolios look good. read more
