YUM!! This place was amazing for several reasons. -great dive bar inside with darts and stage for live music -two outdoor patio areas both with tables that have umbrellas for shade -AMAZING food - I got the Italian sub and my partner got the hot Sicilian - both were amazing, absolutely no complaints -very reasonably priced - my 12" sub was around $12 -friendly staff; the bartender brought a fresh water bowl for our doggo Overall, 20 out of 10! Wish I lived in Cville to come back regularly.

Wow!! I hadn't had Durty Nellys food since I was a kid and their subs are still A1. I had the Italian sub and am already excited for when I can grab another one. Portion size is HUGE, once sandwich is definitely enough for 2 meals (or 2 people). Beer specials are great and happy hour deals are good. Great local pub and they have some dart boards inside. Great food and beer would be back.

So this place is a local's favorite hangout. We visited on Thursday night and tried their Italian sub. It was excellent! You order at the bar and they bring it to you. Not a very big place at all. Friendly service. I'll visit again.

I feel like this is a institution in C-Ville's night life. This was my first time to the pub and it totally made an impression. It's a local bar for sure. I went on a Thursday night and the locals were out in full force. It was an older crowd, but I'm sure college students frequent it often. I got a draft and a vodka with a pickle back. The draft was 3 dollar and a top shelf vodka w/ chaser 10 dollars. Wow , what a deal!!!! I guess I'm use to paying a lot more. The ambiance was your typical Irish bar, but laced with a 70's vibe. I also tried a sub. I choose the cavalier sub. It was 12 dollars and worth every penny. It was heavy and the size of my arm. Lol . In conclusion, this place is worth the money and the experience. These are the places we need to keep alive during recessions.

Solid dive. Darts, live music, good sub sandwiches. Would be a lovely, cheap place to frequent in Cho

A good place to view a band. Don't expect a hot meal here. But for cold beer, a giant sub, free music, and local flavor Durty Nellys is it.

A very friendly place with lots of draft beers and also a deli with a wide variety of sandwiches and sides. They have wine but no liquor

Another hole-in-the-wall: gas station, convenience store, bar, and deli. Great food though. I highly recommend the Jefferson.

I wanted the peppers a little sweeter and overall it was missing the wow factor. Order the godfather and swap the provolone for cooper sharp. This is THE best Philly I've EVER had. I am extremely picky with this sandwich and this literally is so good it's unbelievable. Fresh soft tasty bread with the perfect amount of chew, perfect portions of onions and peppers, wonderfully seasoned meat. You literally can't beat it. If there's a better Philly than this, I haven't found it. The chicken tenders I felt sort of weird about in my last review have been adjusted as well and are now so amazing I could inhale 10 of them. So good. The marinara is some of the best I've ever had. The mozz sticks are awesome and very well done. The ONLY thing I didn't 10/10 love was the garlic bread, it had sort of a sweet flavor to it. Still a good portion and value. With how impressive the rest of the food was this place deserves 5 stars. Great little late night spot with amazing food.

But...would only give two stars for the food. The cheesesteak had the right texture of meat, the whiz from the can and the bread were all perfect. I added marinara for a pizza steak feel. The cheese fries were reminiscent of my first batch of cheese fries in Philly from 1983. So...why only two stars? The chef salted the meat. That's a no no for a steak. The entire sandwich was outdone by the sodium. It Was Salty As Heck I finished it...but I won't go back. Pretty sure my ankles will be swollen tomorrow. Again...great people. Great patrons. Great location. Decent prices. But only go if u are salt deficient.

I'm so sad, man. My wife is a lifelong Virginian who has been to this place many times in the past…read moreand spoken so highly of it every time. We even went together probably almost ten years ago and loved it! So we were in the area tonight and decided, of course, to hit up Boylan Heights for dinner, remembering it as fondly as we did. But I ended up...really disappointed by this visit. First of all, it was super busy, very crowded, and very loud - that's kinda to be expected out of a college sports bar though. The servers were all doing their best, and everybody was really nice! But then I ordered one of their pre-mixed drinks from the bar, and had to end up asking after it about 20 minutes later when it hadn't made it to my table. I was told it got lost in the mix of everything, which I do understand because as I mentioned before, it was busy. So I just said that's cool, I don't need it, I'll just have a root beer instead. 10 minutes later and the server comes to the table with lightly-tinted soda water, very apologetically telling me that's what's coming out and they need to change the bag. I'm autistic and overstimulated at this point so I just say no, water is fine. And that was a little ehh, but the food was absolutely the most disappointing part of this experience. I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese and their curly fries on the side...the fries were barely warm, and not a single element of the burger was seasoned. It was offensively bland, and on top of that, the bacon was floppy. Burger was undercooked as well (menu says they're cooked to medium well, it was about medium rare). I took 2 bites and was totally done. It's really a shame because you can tell the quality of the ingredients is good, but the execution was just kind of embarrassing. Like...salt and pepper the meat at least, please, c'mon. The milkshake was pretty good, though. This place is an institution, but I think it's leaning a little too hard on that reputation and has let the quality of its food slip.

They gave us menus and scantron-like menus to circle in the build-your-own burgers & bowls. That was pretty cool. I chose my chicken sandwich and gave it to the waitress. My sister ordered the boozy milkshake and my niece ordered a regular one. They really liked them! My chicken sandwich was so good! I got the curly fries with it and they were super delish too. My sister got loaded tots which were sooo good. I only with they had pickled jalapeño for them instead of fresh. The fresh were just too much (& I love spice). All in all - solid place to eat!
