We are always excited to try a new Irish pub, because my wife loves fish and chips and I love a good Ruben. We ordered our faves and a side of chili. Well today was not my day. The fish and chips were really good, but the Ruben...when I took the first bite and couldn't chew through the brisket, I knew I was in trouble. I deconstructed it and the whole thing was like shoe leather. You just can't serve a Ruben like that and you had to know as you were cramping up as you were trying to saw through it. It's been quite a long while since I've been to Molly's. Today my daughter and I had a great lunch. Sheet pan nachos and we split a steak and cheese sub with fries. Nachos were A+. Toppings were plentiful and on every chip. Jalapeños were on point! I'm picky about steak and cheese subs but I agreed to a split plate. Oh man....it was full of meat and cheese. Ever had someone try to snow the Snowman? I was born at night, just not last night, it was 61 years ago. Furthermore, i have 20 years of experience in the foodservice industry. If I could, I would give minus stars: There was a litany of issues and here they are: 1. The pretzel was not a pretzel, it was baked cheap bread 2. The beer Cheese was warmed up honey mustard dressing 3. The server actually tried to explain that it is cheese sauce with cider vinegar. There was no cheese in this lukewarm mess of a dressing. We ate 3 bites and gave up on this mess of a dish. 4. We ordered soup and sandwich to split between wife and me. Let's address the soup first. Potato-leek soup, it was lukewarm and curdled. The potatoes in the soup looked brownish in color, meaning they are either super old or you used leftover baked potatoes. We did not touch the soup. The sandwich was also luke warm, the cheese was melted and it looked ok, until you took a bite and realized it was super greasy and they used butter flavored Oil to saute the sandwich. Lastly, the attitude of the server: You had no idea who is sitting in front of you so why would you make up a story about the cheese sauce? I know the difference between slurry and roux, meaning I know a bit about cooking. Then, when we voiced our displeasure about our experience, the server actually gets rude with my wife. I am sorry, management was not on the floor, service was mediocre and food was BAD. It made us feel like we ran into a tourist trap. And we come to that strip often. As you can see I last visited here pre-COVID for fun day Sunday. Since it was Sunday today my family and I decided to return here again for the first time post-COVID for lunch. Unfortunately, they no longer offered their fun day Sunday service. I was disappointed. I started with and enjoyed their spicy margarita with lunazul blanco, muddled with lime, sour and jalapenos for $9. Molly recommended their tender beef Guinness Irish Stew with carrots, onions and fresh herbs over mash for $14. I was disappointed because the beef was far from tender. The beef was over cooked, tough and chewy. I had to cut the large chunks of beef in half to eat them. I would not recommend this meal. I ended my meal with my favorite draft Guinness for $7. Molly C. served our table well. My total bill was $71 less gratuities. There are so many other better restaurants in downtown Warrenton, which I would recommend over this place. I will likely not return here to eat, however, I may return for a draft Guinness. read more

Coke Slaw was well dressed (not too sour or sweet). We did mot care for the Steak/Cheese but we are not sure why (either cheese or garlic aioli). Service was quick: Server was pleasant & helpful. I lived around these parts for 4 years about 15 years ago, so it had been quite some time since visiting Molly's. We decided to grab a seat when after a Hobby shop trip, Baby Rock Star requested a burger. Molly's has adequate outdoor seating (added a hip edge to this country town spot!) and a friendly vibe. I had a grey goose and soda with a simple salad no dressing--followers know me) and Baby had his burger complete with fresh, lightly fried potatoes (okay. I tried 1. Or 5). Perfect. He devoured his burger which looked to be pretty perfect (I'm a vegetarian, do didn't try that). My drink was delightful and as a New Yorker accustomed to NYC and Miami Beach prices, it's always a treat to pay a normal freakin' price for a drink! Went to this place tonight and the lady working the bar was beyond rude. My group sat at a table outside and after 15 minutes of no service, we went inside to see if we could get a menu to order food and drinks. The bartender stated that outside seating needs to be seated by the hostess (which was not apparent) but said she'd let the waitress know we're waiting. I asked the bartender numerous times for a menu. Every time I tried to talk to her, she walked away while I was in mid-sentence. She needs to be fired. The venue was not busy at all. Th waitress eventually came to our table and provided the ever so illusive menus. After 15 minutes, she did not return and we left. Overall, this is some of the worst service I've ever had and this place needs to reevaluate their staff and process. read more

Burgers were good; fries were tasty. Service was slow. It took us close to an 1- 1/2 to order sandwiches, get food, and bill. We were never offered refills. Dirty appetizer plates remained in the table until we left. Our server disappeared on us and after 20 minutes, we had to ask someone else for the bill. Stopped in a few weeks ago after a birthday party with our 3 year old son and my Wife. It was quite busy for 3 in the afternoon. The beer list was nice. However, I decided to order just Bud Light with a lime. The ambiance of the pub was typical of most Irish pubs. A lot of wood and older memorabilia. Many of the passing entrees and appetizers looked good. Due to the fact that we had just left a pizza party, only I ordered food. Trying to be in and out, I ordered the Pretzels. They were very good. Had to share with my son because if a 3 year old says hes not hungry, be prepared to share your food. The accompanying sauce/dip I did not really like. It just wasnt very flavorful, so I requested honey mustard. The honey mustard was awesome. Im not sure if it was homemade or off the US Food truck but it woke up my wifes stomach and then I not only had to share with my 3 year old but my wife as well. Stopped by while visiting downtown Warrenton. The first thing I noticed was people smoking right outside the door and the smoke wafting inside, which is off putting. My wife raved about the Irish stew and the fish and chips, which I will admit were very tasty. The chips (fries) were very good. While I did enjoy the cottage pie served in a little cast iron skillet, it was a bit too salty for me. The service was excellent and I am looking forward to returning to explore the rest of the menu. read more

This is probably a better bar than a place to eat lunch. It's very dark...low light and dark furniture. I was doing some work in our Warrenton office and went here for lunch. I had the corned beef Ruben, with fries and cole slaw.It was OK, nothing too special. I might consider going back for a night out at the bar on St Pat's.Which comes just once a year. The food gets 4 stars - the service gets 3 My husband ordered the Irish stew and I ordered the southwest chicken salad. He really loved the stew and I was pleasantly surprised by the salad. It needed more dressing but I couldn't catch the attention of the waiter so I ate it regardless, and it was still quite flavorful. They didn't have very many Irish items on the menu in my opinion. The lure here is certainly the bar. But for a pub the food was still good. Moderate prices, generous portions. We don't drink so I can't make any comments about the alcohol or bartender. Bathroom smelled terrible but appeared very clean. The waiter was nice but dreadfully slow and the place was empty, he was waiting only one other table. Never got a refill on my water. Took forever to get to go boxes and the check. We would have ordered dessert had we not had to wait so painfully long to get his attention. But we will probably come again, despite the poor service. The. Worst. The only reason I come here is because they are one of the few full service bars in the area. By full service I mean a full rail, not actual service. The service is beyond bad. I went here last May to see the Canadian Celtic group Searson perform. I was by myself - after they seated me, I went to the restroom. Upon my return, they had moved me, farther away from the performance area - with some claim that they had already reserved that table for someone else. I ordered the Caesar salad and the buffalo wings. Both were pretty good. While I was eating, my waiter came over and told me that his manager had asked him to approach me to see if they could move me again. When I asked "to where?" - they wanted to move farther away from the music - they would compensate me by buying me a couple of beers. I told them no thanks. When Searson came out to perform, it was hard to see them from where I was sitting off to the side. More annoying was the block of tables up front that were reserved - the vast majority of the folks were sitting there yakking away throughout the performance and were not paying attention to the music. Why even bother to reserve a good table for a music performance if you are just going to talk throughout the evening? The second time I visited Molly's - was this past September - again to see Searson perform. This time my dining and overall experience was much better. And there was no cover charge this time. I had the Grilled Salmon Ceasar Salad, an order of Buffalo Wings, and several pints of a red ale I've never tried before and darn if I can remember the name - but it was good! read more
