My husband and I are traveling and spent the night on Fredericksburg VA , after checking the many options of places to eat we decided on Park Lane Tavern . I will say , IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! We ate at the bar , enjoyed the fabulous bar tenders , Kyle and Jayla . I always ask for dining suggestions , my drink was awesome ( an old fashion ) , my husband had Beef Wellington for dinner , both were Wednesday specials . Came here after an event with a party of 8! We had called prior and they informed us it was a 30 minute wait. The waiting area is actually pretty cute. The decor in the restaurant is like an old English tavern! It's super cute and the ambiance is really nice. Our table got the fish and chips, bourbon chicken, beef Wellington and the tavern burger. Everything was great! The fish was battered perfectly and was crispy in all the right places. I really enjoyed the tartar sauce and wish I had more! Loved the huge fries/chips. This is our go to place when visiting relatives in Fredericksburg! We've been many times and are never disappointed. Always cordially greeted by the hostess and seated right away. Really clean and nice European pub vibe, warm, charming and buzzing with energy. His lunch was a delish Buddingtons Fish & Chips w Waffle Fries. It came piping hot and crispy with a home-made tarter sauce - just like we were back visiting in the UK! Mine was a beautifully plated Ahi Tuna Salad, cold, crisp with a sesame dressing. Before starting our mall shopping, we stopped in as a 4 about 2pm on a Friday without a reservation. Many open booths and tables so we were seated right away. The outside and inside decor reminded us of an extra large London pub. Lots of dark wood features with claw footed tables and chairs. Our server was training an associate and together tag teamed our table with lots of attention. We had a round of drinks then onto entrees of fish and chips, reuben and a Shepard pie. Outstanding meal. I started with a Magner's which is reason enough to try this place out ! Brody ordered the broiled (not fried) haddock and subbed a salad for the fries. I was all about the English Pub experience- Fish and chips all the way! I ordered a side of creamy dill salad dressing to replace the usually tartar sauce. Brody's sandwich and salad both came this red onion which was a great Add to my fish and chips. The creamy dill, haddock, fries and red onion made for a tasty bite. There was not a drop of food left on either of our plates! Great meal on a fun atmosphere on a Friday afternoon. Wow! This was a phenomenal stop, and I'm not just saying that because we drove in for business from 4 hours away! First of all, Kylie was amazing and treated us like Queens, including our puppa on the patio. She even brought water for our little girl and was delightful, cheery, and attentive, even though we were the only ones dining outside that day. We began with the spinach artichoke dip with pita. Delicious, warm, and even the oil from the dish was finger licking good. Look at that cheese pull on the first bite! Being back at a Park Lane I, of course, reached for Magners, a phenomenal Irish cider that rarely available elsewhere. For lunch I had the seared Ahi Tuna. It came with delicious sliced ginger, wasabi, a bed of greens and peppers, as well as a spectacular, thick soy dipping sauce and tempura crunch straws. This was an ample portion for the price and I was not left wanting whatsoever. My guest had the Tavern Club, stacked high, and their first time trying avocado! They devoured half and some of the house made tavern chips and was left needing a box for the other half of this huge club. Met a friend here for lunch. We arrived a few minutes before opened at 11am. While we waited, many other locals showed up. By the time our food came, the place was half full. I'm met some friends to have lunch before a movie. I thought I was meeting them in Fredericksburg, but apparently I met them in the UK. The atmosphere was an English pub. I loved it. I sort of wish they had pub music playing, but nonetheless I enjoyed their pop playlist. I am gluten-free so I had the gluten-free goat cheese dip with crudités my friends all had something different. Friend one had a plate of chicken tenders. Friend two had a sandwich and fries friend three got the Monte Cristo and friend four had the fried fish. Everything smelled awesome. My friends all raved about their food. I enjoyed my goat cheese dip very much, and I took pictures because describing the food would be impossible since I didn't taste it, but I can say that it came highly recommended by my friends. A cold night calls for a good burger, and PLT has never failed us. Tonight was no different. We were greeted as soon as we stepped inside. We went straight to the bar and took our places. My wife ordered a Cranberry Paloma. I took an Old Speckled Hen. When I came back from the bathroom, the drinks were already waiting. Adriana, the bartender, was friendly and sure of her craft. She mixed drinks the way a person does when they take pride in simple, honest work. I ordered the burger. My wife had the chicken salad. The burger was right--hot, steady, full of flavor. The salad looked light on chicken but heavy with bacon and a thick piece of cheese, which made up the distance. We had another round. Then we headed home through the chill, satisfied with the choice and certain we'd return. We had a most pleasant mid-Saturday afternoon lunch at Park Lane. Four plus stars. Above all, service was stellar. And you gotta appreciate the small finer touches like bringing out plenty of very high-quality napkins. For appetizers we ordered the Tavern Chips, Pickle Fries and Spinach and Artichoke chips. The Tavern Chips were okay, but they were billed on the menu as piled high with cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions, and BBQ sauce. Nah, not really, the toppings were sparse. The Pickle Fries were good and the dill dipping sauce was delicious. However, I didn't really like the tall kooky cone-shaped holder for the fries. It was too tall on the table to see what was down inside the cone. The Spinach Artichoke dip with pita wedges was quite good. For entrées we ordered the Monte Cristo, London Broil and fish and chips. When I saw the Monte Cristo sandwich, I wasn't sure what these ball-shaped things were. The sandwich slices got their curious shape from being tempura fried. Our friend said he loved it and would definitely order again. The London Broil, served with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and green beans was very good. When we asked for medium-rare, they were actually cooked medium-rare. The amount of mashed potatoes was skimpy, the size of an ice cream scoop. Still they were seasoned well and good. I loved the batter on the fish. Really, batter is better than breaded. I'm glad that it wasn't my entree though, because they were ale-battered. I really don't like anything beer-battered. And because beer-battered is so commonplace these days, I never seem to able to eat fish&chips or onion rings anymore. Hell, I think they even put beer in the pancakes at Original Pancake House. I've been here twice and I am hooked!! It's a British style pub with some traditional British fare including comfort food and desserts. The bar selection is also huge (beers, liquor, etc). Sandwiches were borderline cafeteria quality with my caramelized onions being effectively boiled with no browning whatsoever. One of our orders came with chips instead of fries, as stated on the menu, which was odd. Ahi tuna was fresh out of the fridge and overpriced for 5 tiny pieces with the most artificial wasabi (horseradish) they could find. Service was a bit slow with the waitress spilling food and a knife on my partner. Ambiance is interesting, though, it's a bit strange to have American football on in a supposedly European pub. Heading south for family and friends and our stopover brought us to Fredericksburg. We love local vibe, unique settings and non traditional or local cuisine. We were lucky to research on Yelp and my fellow Yelpers and settled on Park Lane Tavern due to unique menu of specialties since we didn't want another sandwich and burger pub, and the place just looked cool. We weren't disappointed! Starting from our wonderful and engaging bartender who warmed us up in this rainy cold night with happy hour drinks and incredible service, to the young man from Rochester who served us at the bar in a heartbeat our food, we felt taken care of! Now on to the food. Other restaurants have ruined me on Shepard's pie and this establishment corrected the wrongs! This light delicious mix of lamb, beef , carrots, peas and a fluffy layer of whipped potatoes were nothing like the heavy servings of others! Thank you! My husband got my go to usually the ahi tuna salad which was perfectly cooked, served with a savory dipping sauce and nice dressing for the salad, plenty of wasabi and ginger. I typically get ok service. However I am always seated on this round table with absolutely no table space. This table specifically has one large pillar holding salt/pepper and other fixings in the center of it. Literally no room...my friend--who was with me this day, and I were visibly upset. No room for appetizers and by the time our enteee came our table was crowded. No no. I am completely disgusted by my experience here. The service and hygiene were both awful. I tried to talk to our server about the issues, but right after I complained about the limp, soggy fries, he just walked away and left us right in the middle of the conversation before I could even finish explaining the state of the table. He was busy with other customer and went to the kitchen for quite a while When I want seasoning my food, I appeared touching watery fluid (booger) smeared on the pepper bottle. I ended up ordering the Cracked Pepper Steak, which came cooked exactly as I had asked (medium rare) and tasted great. A little bit too much sauce on the plate, but that's just me being a little baby and nitpicking. My first drink that I ordered was the Irish Coffee, which sucked . I then ordered a Pineapple Mule which was literally a 10/10 so that definitely made up for it. Definitely would recommend this place if you're in the area. My wife and I enjoy going to Irish pubs on St. Patrick's Day, and this fit the bill this year. And this review is more about our experience during this one meal, and not about what my future expectations might be. To start with, our server was bad. I won't go as far as terrible, because he wasn't rude or anything. He just wasn't any good. To start with, we ordered our standard St Pats beverages, and also asked for a water. We asked for that water 4 times before he finally brought them to us. And each time we asked, he acted like we had not already asked for them.....which we had, again and again. We also didn't realize it when he first came up to us, but he didn't tell us about all the St Pats specials they had for that day, which we heard another server sharing with a different table, well after we had ordered. So service, 1.5 stars at best. Now on the food, it was a tale of two paths. My wife ordered the tried and true fish n chips, and was very happy with her food. I on the other hand, decided to try something different and ordered a Tavern Monte Cristo. Never had one before, and never will again. Just a big grease ball, and you had to eat with a knife and fork. To put it under the menu category of a sandwich was a stretch. The fries however, were very good. We loved the restaurant and the atmosphere, and will definitely try it again, as I do really like Irish food. But next time, I'll stick to what I know....like bangers & mash or shepherd's pie. read more

After almost 3 years here I accidentally stumbled upon this place and wished it would have been the first ones I would have run into. Even living temporarily an hour away from here it was totally worth it to come here on my last dinner in this town. I did not expect this but this is the cap of it all. Nothing cheated there her blood sugar did not spike. The Bourbons that he picked for my flight were good as well but I guess my taste buds are changing because my knobs Creek wasn't like it was 20 years ago but that's not on him. The music is very inviting if you are in your upper 40s and 50s, lots of 80s music some 70s I believe it was just great all around. The food! The wings were good, but the brussel sprouts are out of the ballpark! Perfect with the spring mix that is on the bottom and you can cheat a little bit and dab a little bit with ranch that you have on your leftover wings and you're in for a mouth explosion. I'm going to miss this place already and I've only been here once. The prices on the menu you would expect to be on the high end but let me tell you something, they are very very reasonable for what you get in here! It has a very convenient location where you can walk there from the Residence Inn. We had Shepherds Pie, and Corned Beef, and Beef Wellington. The Shepherds Pie and Corned Beef were both just ok. Mashed potatoes came with both dishes and were more stiff than fluffy. The shepherds pie filling was seasoned well and tasted pretty good. The corned beef and cabbage was marinated in cider and it made the cabbage look very dark and overcooked for my taste. However, the Beef Wellington was very good. (Updated rating) Chill and laid back ambiance with solid service and good food. I had the jumbo bbq wings, bacon Gouda burger, the bread pudding, and tried the fish and chips. The jumbo bbq wings were pretty good and they were served with a house made potato chip that was decent. The bacon Gouda burger and the fries were good but I didn't really taste or see any of the Gouda in the center of the patty so maybe I got a bad batch. I tried the fish from the fish and chips entree with tartar sauce and it was very good. Finally, I had the bread pudding for dessert which was delicious.
