Big Bus Tour - New York

Big Bus Tours is a great concept for tourists who want an easy and convenient way to see different…read moreparts of Manhattan. The hop-on, hop-off format makes it easy to explore different areas without having to worry about navigating the city or figuring out transportation between attractions. With buses arriving about every 10-15 minutes, the service is also very convenient and flexible. The buses themselves were clean and reasonably comfortable for what they are. I wouldn't describe the experience as luxurious, but it was perfectly adequate as a sightseeing bus service. One thing I would point out is that I didn't feel like this was really a traditional "tour." There wasn't a live tour guide providing information or engaging with passengers, so the experience felt more like a convenient bus service that takes you around the city rather than a guided sightseeing tour. I think adding more of a guided experience would make the service much more valuable. I was also disappointed that the Brooklyn route wasn't operating during our visit. That was one of the areas I was hoping to explore, so it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the route wasn't available. There were also a lot of representatives throughout the city actively selling tickets, which was noticeable. I understand the need to market the service, but at times it felt like there was a very heavy focus on selling tickets. Overall, I think Big Bus Tours is a good option for visitors who want a convenient way to get around Manhattan and see different neighborhoods and attractions. The concept is excellent, and the frequent buses make it easy to explore the city at your own pace. With more route availability and a stronger guided-tour experience, I think it could be an even better experience for tourists visiting New York.

However, it was actually just a ferry ride, which is free, with no real organization of getting on except for running and making sure you can see the tour guide and then getting off to instantly to catch the next one back as soon as you got there. This should be explained in the details. Additionally, you do stop at the places mentioned but you do not get access to go into anything. For the Brooklyn Bridge it was basically just walking to the front for a photo and leaving. Same for Grand Central Terminal, you go in and walk around quickly while he explains a few things. For $220/pp, I expected a bit more. Martin was our tour guide and he was great. His voice was loud and he knew what he was doing. Just keep in mind that you should honestly be in shape for this tour because you are consistently having to jog/run to keep up with the tour guide to stay on schedule. I would not recommend for anyone who cannot keep up. All in all, we had a smaller group, so it felt more intimate and it was nice meeting others from different countries and states. And you are able to get nice pictures throughout.

A few months later after I took his tour, I saw Kenny Kramer at the ballet in Lincoln Center. He loves New York City and the Arts as much as I do! As for the tour, you first see a film about Seinfeld in a tiny theater, and then Kramer introduced all his merchandise, including an "Assman" license plate and some T-shirts. Then you board a bus and play Seinfeld trivia and tour the various sites made famous by the show. Then, you go to the Soupman stand and while in line, Kenny Kramer poses for photos with you. I got the Jambalaya, of course, because Newman liked it.

Seeing him in real life brought me right back to my favorite Seinfeld episode of all time, season 3 episode 8 "The Tape." Jerry uses a voice recorder at his set for the purpose of being able to listen back to his new material and make tweaks from there - only to find that an unknown lady has recorded a voiceover on the tape... what a wild surprise it was for Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza, because of the erotic sensual tone of the lady's recording. Elaine thinks it's all very funny... since SHE is the mystery lady on the tape.Elaine tells George that she is the lady... he is suddenly infatuated with her. I Don't blame him! Lol. Don't tell my wife John. Please. Meanwhile... Jerry still doesn't know that it is her. In the same episode, George has also purchased a hair growing cream from China that carries a less-than-pleasant odor.

The tour was exactly the same. Saw the exact same things, in the exact same order, heard the exact same jokes, was asked the exact same questions by the pages, did everything in the exact same order. The only slight difference was the end, doing a Tonight Show segment instead of a Today Show segment.
