A review of E. D. Marshall Jewelry. My wife and I have dealt with the Surprise store for years. I went to the Surprise E.D. Marshall store today for evaluation of some silver pieces. The lady was extremely polite but could not evaluate it because a certain piece of equipment was not available and she said the Avondale store could evaluate it. She made an appointment for me. It was for 1:30 PM. My wife and I drove the 14 miles and arrived at 1:27. We were told to take a seat behind one woman being served and two other people seated. I told her we had a 1:30 appointment and she said the others were ahead of us; not with appointments, walk ins. I questioned again about the appointment time and she said she would get too us in order of the others. She was polite and said this was the way things are done at E. D. Marshall. Frustrated we took seats, waited 25 minutes then finally left and went to another buyer. It was a totally wrong way to handle customers. If you ever watched Seinfeld, when he didn't get his reserved car, he said to the clerk, "You know how to take the reservation. She's good at it and doesn't overcharge and is always fair. Just so you know, the store is near the Joann Fabrics but can be a little tricky to find the first time. Pricing was much more reasonable than any other jewelry stores I've been to in Avondale and she had it done quickly and was really kind and fun to talk to while I waited. I asked about other types of jewelry repairs and she mentioned most of them have to go to their main store in Scottsdale so I'm planning on bringing back a broken chain and ring I need to get fixed. I went to ED Marshall first and they quoted me $3900.00 for what I had, I then went to Osborne Jewelers and they quoted me $5200.00 for the same set on the same day. You're better off going to a pawn shop. I took my 14k white gold princess cut si3 GH diamond ring to try to sell it since I got a new set. I also had two solid silver coins to sell. They offered me an amount that was so low and outrageous it was insulting. It was less than the current amount gold and silver were selling for, not to mention the diamond that was not quite a carat but great quality. I left and went to a pawn shop who offered me twice as much as they did. I would not recommend going there to sell anything of value as they will try to rip you off. I thought the pawn shop would try to low ball me as they want to turn a profit, but I was completely wrong. I will never go there again and I would not recommend this place to a friend. read more

I took my wedding ring in to have it checked for a loose stone. This ring is not only valuable for the obvious reasons but extremely valuable for sentimental reasons. I am very weary of just anyone caring for it. The first time I went in I was greeted in a kind & friendly manner. The woman who assisted me knew why it was special w/out my even having to explain. She looked at it, felt she saw the issue but had another woman come check it as well. They were both extremely knowledgeable and considerate. They knew what needed to be done to secure the stone in a more stable way but just to be sure asked me to come back when the jeweler was in. I returned to see the jeweler who was also fantastic! He listened to my concerns, checked my ring thoroughly and was able to fix the ring right then and there! They also did it without charge! I am so grateful to have found this jewelry store, I highly recommend it and will definitely return in the future. read more
