Do not, I repeat do not rent with this Shady car rental company! Nothing Is E-Z about them. If I could give them a negative star I would. They do not deserve anything greater whatsoever. I booked with this company through Priceline with the last minute decision to go out of town for my birthday. Little did I know that this would be a nightmare from hell. First and foremost the location is hard to find. They don't even have a sign on the road indicating where they are located! Secondly the customer service is horrific. The so-called manager is a joke and very rude. While booking I was informed that since I am a local I have less privileges than someone from out of town. Apparently, if you are a resident in Houston you are only limited to 750 miles along with all this additional proof of car rental insurance. None of this is mentioned prior to booking just so that is clear. I found this is hilarious because if I was from another state I wouldn't be required to provide these documentations , or be limited on mileage. After going back and forth with the manager and calling the customer service line, nothing was resolved. Customer service were just as incompetent as the people at the location. This is absurd because, once again, none of it is listed on their website. So now I'm having to file a dispute with my credit card company because I was never given a rental car due to foolish requirements and priceline not wanting to take ownership. I will never return back to this unprofessional, incompetent, and Shady business. They should not be in business. My reservation only said shuttle pick up from Airport to car rental. Upon arriving in Houston airport, I waited for over 30 mins for the Shuttle. All other shuttles from Thrifty, Hertz, etc came and went. I called the phone number listed on my reservation three times and they never picked up. Exhausted, I just called an Uber and plugged in the car rental address. Even the Uber driver had trouble finding the car rental place! What happened next is what really got me upset. I mentioned to the front desk that I called the central line to ask where the shuttle picked up from, and nobody answered. i also told them there was no sign saying where to go for their shuttles and nothing on the email. He then said "That's because you booked through a third party, and we can't do anything about those bookings". I then told him "It's thanks to the third party that I thought you were credible enough for me to book and even pre-pay. You're the one that received my money, so I'm pretty sure this is reasonable feedback for management". He then tells me I can explain this in an email to management. The person sitting next to him them turns to him in a very audible voice says "just want to give her the keys so she gets out". Wow I just was pulling up their phone number but had to comment when I saw these awful reviews. EZ Rent a Car is great. I've used them about 12 times in the last 9 months... the staff is always great. Yes the lines can be long and the shuttles aren't the fastest but it's the cheapest cars you'll find and they are super nice. The more you use them, they start giving you really fun cars to thank you for your loyalty. You also get one free day when you join their rewards program. To the people complaining about insurance or whatever ... that's a law. Why on earth is that a reason to complain. Unless you've never rented a car before I can't see why anyone is surprised by a steep price per gallon if you don't return it with a full tank. To the one review that said they "claimed" the full tank was empty... that could happen anywhere and to prevent it they usually take like 5 seconds to scan you and give you a receipt showing no charges. I just don't get the complaints so I had to add my two cents. Yes, the line can be long and shuttles a little slower than other companies but they are so friendly and have such a great selection of cars. I'd give them a chance. I'd give zero stars if possible. Warning! Check your paperwork before you leave the counter or you'll be swindled. I'd reserved an SUV (Denver CO). At the counter I was told I needed a 4-wheel drive, but they didn't have one. Then they found one much larger. The agent clearly said "I'll keep the price the same". I trusted him. All I could see while signing was the tiny 2"x4" screen pad. I stupidly did not look at the papers that were handed to me. Instead of $500 they charged me $1200. I called their customer service a few days later. 'Joseph' in Guatemala stubbornly stated that he could not help me. He refused to let me speak to anyone else. I then emailed customer service. Ruined our vacation. Closed by the time we got there. So we had to Uber to our hotel. Tried to pick it up in the morning, but they only hold the car for two hours and they count the time they're closed. Spent hours on the phone trying to figure out how to even get the car, then trying to get a refund. You can point out their inconsistencies and errors, but they'll just say "too bad". read more

First time in Texas! I don't know why everyone else reviewed this place so horribly. It was a bit confusing on how to get to their rental booth from the airport, but there are enough employees at the rental booths IN the airport that are nice enough to help you. Go to Zone 3 and wait for the purple shuttle bus :) Once I got onto the shuttle bus, the driver was nice enough to small talk with me and give me some ideas on where I should go during my stay. The employee that helped me with my car rental was also pretty nice. He explained everything to me and I was well on my way to a car within 10 minutes. The return process was simple and i received my invoice within an hour of returning it. Quick and easy! read more

Everyone is very nice but this is poorly organaized. getting a reserved car should not be a two+ hour process. there was a not a huge line....just lots of standing around and them trying to figure out what cars they had and did not have available when mine went missing. I made a reservation for the car online with no trouble. My flight and baggage were running a bit behind so I wanted to call and let them know. No one answered the phone at all for the 1st few calls. I called again and someone picked up and the phone hung up. When I finally made it to the baggage carousel I glanced and the counter, and there was someone working at the counter. They finally picked up the phone after another 2 calls. I left something in the car after I dropped it off. I tried calling the office at least 10 times, and no one answered. I called the main number, and the rep called twice. No one answered. They said that they would send a note over to the office for me, but to keep calling the actual location. I ended up calling the company they share a lot with to see if they would take a message to them as they don't have an answering machine or service. The car smelled of smoke as well. There is no way they did not notice this when they brought the car to the front. Finding the car return was a pain as the sign is much smaller than the main sign that it sits below. The "office" sits street side, and even it was not marked. I drove into Budget, and asked their reps where to go. All the people that helped me were nice, but the inability to get help when needed is horrible. This is the main reason I am giving them 2 stars. This was the least expensive rental place. Do not rent a car from advantage! If you do, please be aware about their insurance policy! USE YOUR OWN INSURANCE OR CC AGREEMENT! I highly recommend you to make sure the worker clearly explained to you about the policy and charges bc I got charged an arm and leg. My insurance fee costed more than my actual car rental fee. This is such a TERRIBLE rental car operation. I'm never using Advantage Rent a car again. The customer service rep added the fuel purchase option to my rental when I explicitly denied. When I questioned him about the increased price on the receipt he lied to my face and said it was taxes. I accepted this answer initially. I walked away from the counter examined the receipt a little more closely and identified his error. When I returned to the counter I was assisted by the other rep. The guy I was working with wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Thus confirming he intentionally charged me for the fuel purchase. To top it all off, while I am irrate but resisiting yelling or even talking sternly at them, I never receive an apology. I wonder how many others didn't look closely at their receipts... Overall worst rental car operation I've ever experienced in 4 years of very regular travelling. I highly recommend staying away from shady companies like this. read more

How much potential aggravation is worth a few dollars? Well, I thought I would take my chances, and well, the aggravation and time spent in resolution will hopefully help some of you. Dumb idea number 1) Try to save $60 for a week rental 2) Late evening pickup. Me thinks cars will be back by then. Wrong, they were overbooked (as seems to be common) 3)Thinking other agencies would have cars at that time if Advantage did not. Wrong, sorta! However I did learn 2 important things: 1) Insist on a 'We Apologize' card. Submit it later and they will (supposedly) reimburse the difference if you get a substitute rental; 2) Use the 800 number for one of the 'majors' to reserve a comparable car. They will make the reservation (and I guess release 'reserve' cars) that their desk would say they don't have available. My refund is said to be in process, so if Advantage has any integrity I will be financially whole, a bit wiser, but a bit grayer Now 3* as my refund was cut 12/1 and received 12/8. I know this is my 1st review but I typically use Foursquare (mrbravo2000) for reviews and such. I include this do as a preemptive motion since people may think I'm working for Advantage. I have been renting from them consistently for the last year (total of 12 times) for weekend outings, camping, and trips. I have always used Priceline for my rentals and often get the cheapest vehicle available. I live by the mantra of you get what you pay for. Advantage often has the cheapest rentals. Also, they allow rentals by people younger than 25 and they allow use of a debit card; for these reasons they usually are packed to the gills. It is August 8th at 100 and I had a reservation At 1200 and I'm waiting. However, I'm paying 5 a day and fully expect a nice clean rental car in a bit. Plus, they have upgraded me before due to waiting. Some of the reviews mention: A long shuttle ride/ too far- really? Have you been to Dallas? Chicago? Now those are shuttles. The shuttle here to ANY rental agency is 5 minutes max. Also, the shuttles run every 15 minutes. People on here act like the shuttle should be here at their feet. Marry into the Royal Family and then you can expect that. Rude people - there have been a couple times where someone didn't give me a smile or was rather impersonal. However, the majority of the time they are empathetic and do care. I have conversations with every one of them and they are good people. I have also seen where people curse them out, yell, and act incoherent because the car isn't blue or they have to wait 30 minutes. I will say that the people outside at the actual car pick up are generally apathetic. I always walk my car and if I spot something tell them and take pictures. Phone number - I have called the number several times during my rental periods and have had my questions answered. No problem. However, calling the national number never leads to resolution; I'm always directed to the Hobby Airport location. Lastly, I left my laptop in my car (what a dummy) and they called me 10 minutes afterwards. Cool! I wrote this review because as I searched for the phone number on my phone the Yelp review came across (it had the wrong number, weak) and I read the reviews. I really think some people expect limo service but are like me and paying 5-6 $ a day. Get real. You get what you pay for, and in my experiences, it is totally worth it! read more

I'm generally not a fan of advantage. Far too often do they take reservations without having cars. They frequently over book although it depends upon the airport. Several years ago a friend and I made a short trip to Houston. Being Houston, everyone kept saying: OMG you need a car! How are you going to survive your one-day trip without a car?! Ahhh! So we caved, but we were both only 21, and Advantage was the only rental car agency that would rent to us without charging an exorbitant underage fee. This place worked. They had a car for us. They didn't make any comments about us being underage. The car ran and the billing was correct... generally there weren't major problems. That said, the place is a looong shuttle ride from the airport terminal, and the parking lot itself is a dump. I show up and they say they can't process me on site so I have to go back to the airport to get my paperwork. Wow. Ride the shuttle back to the airport, and go to the desk where there's 7 -8 pissed off customers pacing in front of the desk. Guy at the desk asks me to write my name on a piece of paper for a wait list due to car shortage. says there are 5 groups ahead of me. 0 cars come available in 30 minutes. At this point it's 9 am and my reservation started at 8 am, so I've essentially paid for an hour of waiting with no end in sight. The guy says they are washing the cars. But still has no idea how long till they become available. I'm already a half hour late to a meeting so I cancel my reservation and get an expensive car at Avis. First it took 2 hours to get my rental from the time I went to the curb until I got my car. EZ Rent A Car only had 2 employees working the counter with an extremely long line of very dissatisfied customers. After standing in line for a very long time due to understaffing, the 2 employees were extremely rude. Adding insult to injury I communicated to pay 1 toll, and EZ Rent A Car wanted to charge a $ 25 admin fee. The rude employees failed to explain the toll policy. I am communicating with CEO Mehrdad Memarpouri to pay the simple toll, without the ridiculous $ 25 added fee. This was the worst rental car experience I have ever had. There were a few people in line when I got there so I may have had to wait about 10 minutes. It was expected because they had the best rates. The ladies at the counter were polite. My rental, a minivan, was a newer model, clean, and did exactly what it needed to do. The check in process was easy. I dropped it off before they opened due to an early flight. What a cluster! Traveling weekly I'm pretty immune to bumps in the road. But this operation is a mess! From apathetic "have better things to do" employee checkin at the airport (think DMV employee. Uggg) to less than cheerful shuttle driver. Upside was a great young man that showed me to my car, oriented me, etc... Real nice, though clearly he was the odd man out in this mess. Advertising says "on airport"... It is not. Not a major big deal until you realize they do not make it easy to find the return location. It is at a parking lot with no obvious sign. Was told by other vendors that receive a lot of lost Advantage renters, in the area, this is very common mistake. Very frustrating when returning. From a frustrated mom: This has been the worst experience for renting car seats ever. I have a 1 year old and 4 year old. Both kids are in convertible car seats with 5 point harnesses at home. Got here and they had a booster seat for my son, which wasn't safe at all. My daughter, they gave us an infant seat which she was almost too big for. I asked for a different seat for my son and they gave me another seat without a seat belt. I finally managed to find one that while against my better judgment was a clear safety hazard, I'm sure it was expired, and it's definitely nasty. My daughter they gave us a cosco seat and the base literally doesn't clip in. If we have a wreck, my daughter is sure to go out the back windshield. While I have no problem with advantage as a car rental, their car seats are disgusting. They showed me another one siting out in the weather they thought about giving me that literally has black mold on the seat belts. My advice: save your money in rental and bring your own car seats. Invest in a luggage bag for them if you're traveling. Their safety and their cleanliness from your own seats is far worth it. read more

They insisted that it was the only vehicle they had, so I had no option other than to just wait around and hope that someone returned a different car. None of this is mentioned prior to booking about limited mileage if your driver LIC is local. I regret booking a car rental with EZ because I waited 30 minutes+ waiting for airport shuttle. This is my first and last time using EZ. I called twice to ask about shuttle and was told it'll come in a few minutes and it's late. I've seen shuttles for other rental companies passing by 5-6x while waiting for one EZ shuttle. Don't make same mistake I did with picking a company that's a bucks cheaper. Not worth your time. The place doesn't even have a landline or company refuses to release landline because they know customers will call to ask for shuttle pick up. Overall, unprofessional company. They had a special going on 12$ per day weekend rental. It was way cheaper than anything else in the market. It took me about ~2 hours to get the car, an experience similar to other yelp reviewers here. I was fine with it, until I saw the total bill, it was 112$ for 3 day rental with a 12$ per day rental fee! They told me there about tons of fees that I could not my head around. While I rented the car, they told me the total would be around 74$ including taxes and everything. But they never gave me a bill during the car return and 15 days later the bill shows up in my credit card. I am out of state so its almost impossible for me to go there and argue about it. Booked through southwest air was ez enough problem started when we walked in to people in line yelling and angry. Apparently the wait to get the car you reserved was over 2 hours? I was told they could not refund my money because I booked through the airline. Had a business meeting that we could not be late for so had to take an uber. When I got to the desk he took my information and said "we have no cars stand too the side and I will be with you in 10 minutes. 35 minutes later he said thank you for waiting and because of it we have a nice car for you.
