Ok, the other reviews are old and not so great. I can speak to this year 2018. I have spent a month up in the Eagles Nest area, I have rented boats, bought tackle and bait and just chatted with the folks who run the marina. I could be more pleased with their help and service, Renita is a very sweet lady and her son Tony was very helpful and pleasant. Nothing but a great family run business. I have been in the store when families with children were treated with great kindness and an obvious desire to see that they had a fun time on the lake. I have also seen the old timers treated just the same. Time for yelpers to bury the old owners reviews and give credit to the new folks! read more

Our family rented a pontoon boat with guide at the marina. We had two children, 4 and 7, and were concerned about getting a captain who was impatient with that age group. We were so pleased to get Rudy to take us out. He is great with kids and grownups too. Knew where to go to catch fish--the kids and their dad landed 10! He was so patient and encouraging with the little ones. He had lots of poles set up, so all he had to do was put the right lure and hand it over. No long wait for tying the new leader on and fooling around with knots. Rudy knows what it takes for the group to have a great day. read more

If you're worried that $55 is steep for renting an ice auger, don't worry! They don't maintain them well so it takes twice as long as a sharp hand auger to make a hole, plus you get to hear their delightful rundown of how they jerry rigged the engine they just rented to you. Even though the lake is open until 9 and there's plenty more sunlight to be had, you have to return their equipment by 4:30. When I returned it, I asked to use the restroom. They told me where it was and didn't warn me that the sink was turned off at the wall. I really didn't want to ever return but they were the only place around that had wax worms in stock. Used the restroom again, this time it wasn't just shut off at the wall, but entirely non-functioning and without any "restroom out of order" or other signage warning you not to enter. If thats not illegal, it's most certainly a public health hazard. Not that they care about public health hazards based on the sign informing you of their right to not wear masks, which is about as sensibly written as that partial sentence written by a preschooler hanging up on your fridge. HIPAA involves the privacy protection requirements of healthcare providers, and has nothing to do with your decision to be in public without a mask. If you have trouble breathing, wouldn't you be extra worried about getting close to dozens of strangers while unprotected from the highly infectious respiratory disease devastating the entire world? Perhaps I didn't understand what the sign was saying or I've forgotten something since my visit, but the mention of HIPAA wasn't saying "I don't have to tell you why I'm not using mask because of HIPAA rules", and even if it did, that would also be a load of BS because it just means that healthcare providers can't share your information freely. You as a private citizen outside of the healthcare system have only an indirect relationship to HIPAA. Glad I didn't rent a boat over the summer, the way that auger worked I probably woulda drowned. read more
