Making memories is important to my family. My daughter, granddaughter and two great grandchildren attended breakfast with Santa last Saturday in Woodlands Restaurant. The breakfast buffet had all the makings for a tasty morning meal as well as snowman-shaped pancakes--so enjoyed by the little ones! Santa was a gem! Service in the restaurant was excellent. From past visits, we recognized lots of familiar faces among the staff members. In addition to the photo opportunities with Santa, there were a number of other spots in the lobby--gingerbread storefronts as well as a towering Christmas tree. Simply put, the very best spa I have ever been to. Hands down. I have searched all over to find a spa like this one and there is none. My husband and I visited for our 7th anniversary when there was lots of snow and the lake was frozen. We played on the lake, which neither of us have walked on a frozen lake, and even got to watch some ice fisherman. There is also a a barn with horseback riding available, which was so amazing. The little bar was quiet and relaxing for a drink at night. I can't wait to go back someday. My husband and I recall the fond memories often. read more

I attempted to book a room here for a July wedding. After 30 minutes on hold I was finally able to do this. I had given all my information & asked for the cancellation policy & informed that it was refundable if done by a certain date. As we were finishing, the agent advised he needed to read me the cancellation policy which included a $60 fee for canceling at ANY time. At this time I asked the agent to cancel the reservation as I didn't have all the wedding details, & he promptly hung up on me! Needless to say, I'm staying at another hotel! I called back to talk with a supervisor who was very helpful, as well as an agent named Isaac. I'm just sorry I didn't get the name of the first person who was so rude! read more

Stayed here for a quick girls getaway weekend. Great property with plenty of amenities onsite for whatever you need. Friendly staff. Clean. Beautiful grounds. Reasonable rates. There were 3 of us and had a room with 2 queen beds and pull our sofa- perfect space for a couple nights away. However, the room had a skylight- which made it kind of bright early in the am, could have lived without that. And a hairdryer in the room would have been nice. "Additional UNWANTED guest (owner came and stayed) at your Wedding...Breaking contract Extravaganza" We stayed at 4721 W Longhollow rd...Eagle Nest house. it has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. Overall its a really nice place Really pretty, very clean, nice piece of property, Spectacular bathrooms in every room. Has a party room in the basement and conference room as well. We rented this location 9 months in advance for my sister's wedding. It was ideal since my sister wanted everyone close, comfortable, and happy. Throughout the 9 months the owner of the house tried to cancel our reservation. Why? we had no idea, even though we paid in FULL for that weekend. Contractually we told the owners that we had a service dog that needed to be in the house. The owners new the dog was coming for 9 months. On the day of arrival the owners of the house came to the house and told us we could not have the dog in the house. If we brought the dog in that they would call the police and have us arrested. Remember this is a WEDDING. The dog is a Service dog and was needed. Since the dog was not allowed in the house the Bride and Groom HAD to rent another room in ANOTHER HOTEL! The poor dog was stuck in the car in 95 degree weather as we were all trying to get everything prepared for the wedding and look for another hotel. Needless to say we were all stressed about the dog being in a car (of course with the windows down), we were all constantly going outside to make sure the dog was doing ok. The owners kept coming onto the property to check up on us. It was a complete nightmare. Adding to a stressful situation of preparing for a wedding. The day of the wedding...The owner was TOLD NOT TO COME. He came anyway. As guest were still seated in their chairs he tried to take the chairs away. He then proceeded to go into the bedrooms to inspect the rooms. I have NO IDEA why he would do that. He proceeded to interrogate guests, asking them if they met the dog, and stayed for over an hour. Until the groom confronted him saying that "if he wanted to stay then he will have to charge him for admission to the wedding..." Don't have a wedding in Galena, especially at this place, since everyone tries to over charge you, and are super strange. The owners should have just left us alone. They themselves ruined my sister's special day. read more

This has honestly been the worst resort I have ever stayed at. Our shower had bubic hairs in it. The room has no fridge and super small out of date and dirty! Called the front desk to tell them we had bugs in our shower and how Nasty it was and they offered 20% off and that was a burden. I'm never coming back here. This hotel is worse than a super 8. Stay in town at a different hotel because they do not take care of nor do they care about there customers. I feel like we are at a motel not a resort. read more

Rented a 3 bedroom house and called several times trying to get in a little earlier due to wanting to make our dinner reservations in town. They kept telling me to keep calling. Lo' and behold! We tried getting into our house at the 4:00 check-in time and it was teaming with several cleaning people which was very upsetting. They were there until 4:40pm. We contacted the main office and they basically said, "Oh well." I asked one of the cleaning people if we were last on the list to be cleaned and she said, "Yes." So regardless of my pleas to get in early, it didn't matter. Once in the room, we noticed almost every pillow had numerous black hairs from prior tenants...gross! The rug in the dining area was filthy and there were bugs galore by the sliding doors. We paid a pretty penny to stay in this house (#601) and were not treated well by the staff. Kristen was the rudest of all. What surprises me is how rude the employees in the reservation office and how this could greatly affect business over time. They don't seem to care though. There were many nice eagle ridge people throughout the resort -- General Store, Lounge, etc., but it's the not so nice ones that ruin the good feeling that should come with a family trip/vacation. read more

Not as clean/updated as expected. Ants/misc bugs were all over our villa, but they came and cleaned quickly when we requested. Not thoroughly cleaned. Warning: not all bathroom amenities provided. Shampoo only. Draining problems in shower and hot water not properly working. PLEASE UPDATE SHOWER HEADS. The front desk was nice and sent maintenance quickly. Spa staff was very rude and not well trained. They were very slow and communication was awful. We did have an excellent yoga class for mothers day that we got free for staying. Next time we will B&B/Airbnb. read more

Let me start by saying this hotel was a regular spot we came to for my birthday on a yearly basis. Exact same dates, exact same time of year. The hotel used to be very clean and happy and had a certain charm to it. Early January would see the Christmas theme still alive with a beautiful Christmas tree, the log fire would be burning, the bar and restaurant would be filled and the wines stocked up to the brim. The two rocking chairs by the fire was a nice touch, and the instant smell of a log burning fire immediately made you feel comfortable and warm and excited to stay there. It was rustic and traditional in terms of interior design. I felt like I had walked into a true log cabin in the mountains. This most recent trip, we started off with a reservation for the main restaurant and as we walked in, it looked like a scene from The Shinning, it was deserted. We were the only people to walk in or even look to be seated. As we didn't want to be the only people in the restaurant we left to go to the bar as there were a few people in there. The prior year, the bar was filled with people. Bridal parties, anniversaries, and lots of people who just enjoyed the atmosphere. It was what I would have called, "the perfect stereotypical winter getaway". They had an amazing singer (Megan Davis) playing the guitar whilst singing. In between her sets, you could hear the wood crackling from the beautiful fireplace and the low sounding conversations that people were having. When we walked in this year it was a different place. It felt like a college bar. There were a group of people taking shots of Peppermint Schnapps making a fair amount of noise, the bar was not stocked and looked sad. The wine shelves from the previous year looked so good because they were so high and filled with wine, however this year the lights behind the bar were off and it looked like they were clearing house. The shelves were completely deplleated. They needed two bar tenders to get to everyone last year. The fires were not burning, and aside from having the shot takers making their noise, it wasn't much fun at all. We had one beer and left. That says it all. We drove 3.5 hours so I could have a beer and leave. My birthday was off to a good start. Before we finished our beers to leave, we decided we would get some food. As we didn't eat in the restaurant we ended up eating the "all you can eat Prime Rib" with us taking the food to the bar and eating there as there were a few more people in there. When we walked through to the prime rib section, the staff were sitting around talking amongst themselves as there was no one to serve. Nothing wrong with that, but it worries me that I see 6 staff members with not much to do. Walking into their prime rib room, the salad bad was littered with dried out old salad that tasted as good as you think dried up old salad would taste. The vegetables were intruding onto other vegetables plates. The cucumbers found their way onto the tomato plate and so on. The pans that had the potatoes, sweet potatoes and beans were not given and sign posts to let you know what you're eating. So the potato in the foil turned out to be a sweet potato. The exact words of my fiancé when tasting the sweet potato were, " it tastes like it is from their back garden, and it tasted muddy". The chef was very polite, but the only problem was that as he didn't have anyone to serve you could never find him to cut the prime rib. If you're willing to take a gamble you can try and carve it yourself. The breakfast the next morning was much the same as the night before, and I even think they re used the old salad from the night before. One thing that I have to bring up is the change in furniture. The furniture now resembles an Ikea showroom. They have littered the entry way with modern furniture and even worse than that is the turquoise chairs in front of the fire. There are modern touches such as glass bowls with pinecones in them. It took the initial feeling of walking into a perfect winter cabin completely away. Instead I felt like I was at a hotel that was trying too hard. I felt like I had walked into a hotel in downtown Chicago with the way in which it has been laid out. What has changed and why are things so different now? I'll get to that in one minute. Now to the good part. The morning after. After the previous night of disappointment, we went back to our room and went to sleep. The morning after, my finance woke up and was placing the sheets onto the bed. Upon inspection she noticed that there was a dark red substance on a pillowcase that she didn't sleep on. After further inspection it was noted that this was blood. Not my finances blood, but blood from a previous guest. How did we get to this conclusion? Well, the pillow was under the pillow that she slept on. We immediately called management to come to the room. Could have been bed bugs, but they assured us it wasn't. Either way, birthday was ruined. read more

I had a wonderful stay at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa during their winter festival and I would highly recommend it! The staff was super helpful and friendly. All of the activities were such fun and the meals I had in the restaurant were just delicious. This is definitely a family-friendly weekend...the kids were having such fun watching the hot air balloons light up in the evening, jumping in the bounce house, meeting the ice princess, and watching a movie in the pool! The scenery surrounding the resort is just awesome. Make sure you stop to check out the nearby waterfall! I'll definitely be heading back for a weekend with girlfriends during warmer weather months! read more

Had lunch at the Woodlands Restaurant, ate in the lounge area. I ordered the Pastrami sandwich and the server raved about how great it was and that they just started serving it yesterday. It was like eating BEEF JERSEY, the slices were real thick rather than shaved. You couldn't bite into it without pulling all the meat out of the sandwich. Always wanted to stay here and finally got the opportunity. We were put across the court yard in the basement with an open hallway in 35 degree weather with no elevator. When we entered there was a musty smell in the room and there was what looks like mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and the towels were all frayed. This property is currently undergoing new management and if you're going to stay at the resort, you may want to think twice. The main resort with its main restaurant has a very, just ok menu. We did a stay and play package with golf as we do every year. The stay and play offers a buffet breakfast that in the past was very good. Now it's absolutely horrible. It's not well organized as to where you would enter and get in line for either the food in chafing trays, or the Miley station. It's so small no one could move around. There was no food in the chafing trays other than burnt sausage and underdone hash browns. This is at 8:30 in the morning, the peak of breakfast hour. I asked for them to please bring more eggs, bacon, French toast etc. 1/2 later food was brought out. Bacon and sausage and French toast burnt and dried out. Eggs so over cooked the crumbled into little kernels. And nothing even tasted good. The poor guy at the omelet station (one guy) was overwhelmed. People waited at least a half hour for an omelet. The Woodstone grill, which never was open to the public the last few times we were there, was finally available to us! But they had no grill so meals offered we only salads, watery pastas, and pizza that DiGorna could out do. Very disappointing. We stayed in a villa reminiscent of the early 80's. Very outdated and our bed sheets smelled like the person, or persons, who were there before us. In other words, unwashed. Such a turn off. I could barely sleep the smell was so bad. While the golf courses are awesome, they are in need of repair too. Greens in the north course were iffy at best, the carts in the General were slow as molasses and ours kept backfiring, frightening other golfers, and us!! Being a dry August, it's hard to believe they haven't been mowing, except while we were playing. The bathrooms on the course could be outdone by an outhouse. They were filthy and smelly. One didn't have a working light, which was just as well, I didn't want to be able to see it any better. The smell was enough. Too bad. Hope the new management makes some great changes. It needs it. If anything, the staff were excellent. Very polite and accommodating. So they have that going for them. read more

Though it doesn't sound good to discriminate against cats and advertise "Dogs Only" - the resort should state the truth so it doesn't affect the plans of us vacationers! read more

Beautiful location. The resort overlooks the river from up on a bluff, so you can't ask for better photos. We were here for a wedding and stayed in one of the villas. The staff was very friendly, and offered to ship us some items we left at the hotel (we had to pay for it). The wedding food was pretty good. Some of the appetizers (the salmon on a cracker) was disgusting, but the meal of steak was pretty decent. Recommended for the atmosphere and location. read more

My entire family spent a week up there in a house that was comfortable for 12 people. The home was beautiful and great for the entire family. The resort had so many attractions that allowed some people to play golf, swim at the pool as well as able to rent a boat for a couple of hours. It was great being able to stay at a house with all of these amenities because while we were all together under one roof, we could all go our separate ways, if wanted. Not only were the ground amazing with things to do, the staff was very accommodating, the food was great and its a very peaceful place. read more

This is a true gem in Northern Illinois. Eagle Ridge is nestled in beautiful scenery that is unique for Illinois, and offers fun activities and events year round. We have visited often, in all seasons. A great place for family gatherings, or a couple's get-away! Dinners on the screened porch over looking Lake Galena are a wonderful way to enjoy a summer evening. I love walking the golf courses in fall and winter, in the off season, too. Eagle Ridge is the most beautiful place to have a wedding and Megan Carter and Rika Thibodeaux made planning an absolute dream. We had our rehearsal dinner at Woodstone Restaurant, our ceremony at the Point Patio, and our reception in the Eagle Ballroom. There isn't a place on the whole property that doesn't have stunning views. Our guests raved about their accommodations. The villas there are gorgeous and spacious. I knew absolutely nothing when it came to wedding planning, but Megan took me, my husband and our parents by the hand and guided us every step of the way. Eagle Ridge is clearly set up so well for weddings, which was already amazing. They have the classiest materials and decor and all the staff know exactly what they are doing. It's a venue with everything already built in, including the wedding planner. You can customize as much as you want to, or let them do all the work for you (which we chose to go with). They will work directly with your vendors and coordinate everything. Megan basically read my mind and created the wedding of my dreams. She's also an amazing person and super fun to hang out with, so wedding planning was always a blast! She answered all of my and my mom's crazy emails that we sent at all hours of the night (and looked at all of my pictures of our cats) always with a smile on her face. She worked extremely hard to make sure everything was perfect for us. Everything went SO smoothly the day of the wedding. Megan and Rika either had everything under control from the get go or they were just amazing at solving whatever problems popped up along the way. Either way, I knew nothing of any issues whatsoever and was able to fully focus on the perfect day and the most amazing celebration. Everyone had an absolute blast and kept talking about how it was the best wedding they had ever been to (objective fact). It was the best day of my life and I would absolutely recommend Eagle Ridge as a venue to anyone who's looking. read more

Didn't actually make it to the resort due to very extenuating circumstances (putting a family member in hospice and then two back to back trips to the hospital made it impossible to make our original dates). I called and asked to move our date back (there was plenty of availability in late November) or receive credit for our reservation. Very rude reservationist and supervisor made it clear that our trip would not be rescheduled and our money which was paid in full was gone. If the resort was even near full in future dates, I would understand. Looking at many of these reviews about customer service, I shouldn't have been surprised. We will definitely steer our many Chicago area friends away from this resort. read more

The resort looks lovely as you approach the entrance. The grounds are very well attended to. However, upon entering our king size courtyard room it was quickly evident that it was in desperate need of updating. The A/C was inadequate, loud, and a detriment to the environment. The bathroom was extremely small and cramped. The carpeting was worn and needed to be replaced. A small refrigerator would improve the room by at least 60%. I would recommend staying elsewhere, but the golf courses were the big draw for us. read more

Our family stayed at the resort for a wedding. everyone was so accommodating in every way. We stayed in a house that was wonderful. It was so fun to be able to wake up in the same house with the grandkids. They staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The resort catered to the kids by having arts and crafts at the pool as well as blow up bounce house and obstacle course. The family members that played golf commented on the beautiful and well manicured course and how friendly the staff in the pro shop were. We enjoyed the General Store and the lovely restaurants which also had wonderful people doing everything they could do to insure complete satisfaction. The grounds are beautiful as well as the lodge. We stayed in a five bedroom distinctive home recently to celebrate family birthdays. The home had a pool table, a big backyard for bean bags, a spacious deck with a grill for cooking, and enough room for my large family. It was wonderful playing games and talking with my brothers and sisters from across Iowa and Illinois. We will definitely return and may make this a new November tradition. read more

I would like to first say that in Illinois, there are few more scenic venues for a wedding than the Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena. The vistas are breath-taking, the grounds are beautiful, and the ballroom is stunning. That being said, I believe the people running the resort are deluded enough to think their venue is so enchanting that their customers won't notice the bad service they provide. My son was recently married there and here are just a few of the things that went wrong. 1. Our frustration started when we arrived on Friday afternoon, hoping for an early check-in (before 4:00). I e-mailed the reservation desk a week earlier with this request and they suggested we call while still on the road, day-of, to check status. We did and they said they would do their best, but could not promise. When we arrived at the front desk, our room was not ready. We proceeded to the house that my son rented the day before, to visit and help set up for a barbecue scheduled to happen that evening. We attended a short wedding rehearsal at 4:00 (the bewitching hour, apparently!) where the planner assured all involved that she would be available for all aspects of the ceremony/reception. After the rehearsal, we proceeded to our villa at 4:35 to leave our bags in our room. When we arrived, the maid was still in the villa and not even half-finished with her duties. 2. The wedding was scheduled for 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon. As I stated above, check-in is also at 4:00. Is it too much to ask that check-in be scheduled for 3:00 when guests are expected at an event at 4? Apparently, yes. Several friends and family members decided to stay elsewhere, so that they would be able to go there first and change before the ceremony. Perhaps management should consider moving check-out to 11:00, so that they can have rooms ready before their events, or schedule the events accordingly. 3. Between the ceremony and the reception, there was a cocktail hour on another floor, so that the ballroom could be reset for the reception. People left the ceremony and wandered downstairs. The cocktail party was scheduled for 5:00. The ceremony ended at 4:40. Cocktails were not available until 5:00, despite bar staff present behind the portable bar. Guests were standing around for 20 minutes, waiting and trying to figure out what was going on. Management should have accommodated an early start, if necessary - keep things flowing and guests happy. 4. I learned from my son and daughter-in-law, after-the-fact, that the wedding planner was not present for most of the reception (there were 2 other events at the hotel that afternoon). The bride and groom were left searching for answers to questions - where should the receiving line be?, when should we assemble?... I even saw my son seeking an extra table for something - really! You know that they paid dearly to use this venue - they should have been treated like royalty. Hey, Eagle Ridge, if there are 3 events at your venue, you better have an individual for each event to make sure everything's handled. There should never have been a moment when the guests of honor needed to search for her - she should have been nearby, ready to assist. I will say that the food was good and the servers were splendid. Everyone had a wonderful time, which I suppose is the most important thing. I would NEVER recommend this venue, however, to anyone planning any kind of an event. It's unfortunate, because it truly is a picturesque setting and the facilities are gorgeous. They need to find someone to run it more efficiently. If you decide to use Eagle Ridge, be aware that you will be settling for better scenery than service. read more

Our family of 8 adults and 2 toddlers stayed at one of the 4 bedroom distinctive homes this past weekend at Eagles Ridge. Home #502 was clean, neat and I would say a perfect place to stay in. The beds were comfy, there were adundant towels, and we had a blast playing pool. The only minor problem was when we found that the propane tank was not hooked up to the gas grill and the line was nowhere to be found. A call to the maintenance guys fixed that problem. He didn't have the connecting pipe, but he brought another grill which was even better since the original grill had a pretty rusty grilling surface. Took him less than half hour to go back and forth and hook up everything, so our stomachs were really grateful that he was so quick! The resort itself was huge and just absolutely beautiful. I can just imagine the colors we would see if we were to come back later in the fall. It was very, very relaxing for all the adults and my kids of 1.5 and 3 loved the opportunity to run and just play. We didn't get to ride the bikes, but saw that the rentals actually looked pretty decent. Maybe next time. The pool area in the main resort was a bit dissappointing though. For a resort of this size, we had expected a much bigger and more lavish pool area. What we saw was not even up to par to the Chicago Park District pool in my neighborhood. It also looked like the spa was with the same facility making it feel quite cramped. It was not where i had envisioned the resorts spa to be when i first read about it online. We decided not to book any services because of that. The arcade area was small, but all of us actually played and had fun. We also spent a good part of the day in the playground area and a bunch of us played tennis on one of the 4 nice tennis courts and even used the fitness faciltiy which was nice. The Smores campfire movie was also a very nice touch which we all enjoyed. We truly enjoyed the brunch at Woodlands and would definitely recommend it. The eggs benedict was just scrumptious! And the variety of gourmet food they had was amazing. There was something for everyone. Everybody left full and happy. Spikes Restaurant was a different matter though. The food came out less than mediocore. My ahi tuna and everything on my dish was extremely salty. the soba noodles were not drained properly and therefore it was a great big lump on my plate that tasted like a gooey clump of soggy dough. The people who had the white fish complained that it was dry and bland. The steak sandwich was chewy towards the end and when we were finally able to see, we found out the whole chunck still completely raw. Only the salads, rolls and kids meals of cheeseburger and mac & cheese were decent. What made the dinner even worse was the annoying flickering of a bank of lights above us throughout dinner. The waiter (who was nice in any other aspect) wasn't able to do anything even after we complained to him twice. He was apologetic both times, but he never got the situation handled even though he said he'd try.Towards the end of the dinner we went to complain to the manager who told us that we should have complained earlier directly to him and wondered out loud why we were complaining now when we are about done and before the bill was paid. His tone of voice and attitude was completely infuriating. Any good manager would have noticed unhappy customers eating in the semi- dark for the last 2 hours. But now it seems like it's our problem because their waiters didn't let the manager know that one of their tables is eating in darkness half the time. He finally gave us a measely 10% off the bill, but he sure didn't look agreeable about having to do it and he did not look or even say anything apologetic throughout the whole time. If you want to eat good food in a nice atmosphere and be treated as a customer should be treated, DON'T go to Spikes. Other than that, the resort was great and I'd highly recommend it. read more

Had the best massage of my life the day after getting married at Eagle Ridge. Their spa is amazing and not too expensive. Our wedding was perfect. Their wedding coordinator -- Angie -- does wonders. As we wrap up our stay, I want to provide a comprehensive review. For starters, the staff at the resort was so professional and kind. From the bartender, to the wait staff to the bus boys, to the hostesses, to the people picking up the trash. Staff was top notch and goes a long way with me especially for this kind of money. The brunch at woodlands was good, plenty to choose from, not the best I've ever had but good. We were pleased w the Woodlands Lounge each time. Bartender was super friendly and we even got a dessert on the house because my pizza came out 10 minutes later than my hubby's. No biggie but I appreciated so much the kind gesture. Duck sliders, BBQ chicken pizza, French fries, and turkey sausage lasagna were delish! My massage at the spa was nice. Definitely go early to enjoy the amenities to get your money's worth. I also enjoyed the steam room at the spa (plan to take a shower too at the spa if you're into that - everything you need and more for you to feel at home) and the sauna at the pool. I do think the spa is overpriced but I was pleased!!! Take a walk on the trail and please check out the general store it has everything from wine to cheese to deli sandwiches, chips, candy, condiments, you name it! It was super cute (pricey)! Our trip to Galena which is about a 10 minute drive was fun. More stores than expected -- a lot are similar but that was a fun day-definitely recommend doing that one day during your stay. We stayed in the courtyard at the resort, normal hotel room, nothing fancy, small bathroom, and sink outside of toilet and shower room when you first walk in the door. Cute little balcony and only a stone's throw from the main lodge. Overall, I think it was a great experience. No complaints!!! read more

Made a reservation for one night stay for a wedding, I called 8 weeks before the day to cancel because I found out I was going to be away on business and was told I would be charged a $35.00 cancellation fee....Cancelling 8 weeks in advance!!! So WARNING TO ALL GUESTS, if you make a reservation with Eagle Ridge they are taking $35 from you no matter what happens in your life and no matter how far in advance you cancel. Totally unethical business practice. I can understand if it was just a few weeks away from an event, but 8 weeks is ridiculous, that's just flat out stealing! read more

Great stay over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Pick the house through their website and was very comfortable. Enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet in the ballroom. This was our third year and we'll continue every year going forward with our family. read more

When you need a little get away, try the Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, we stayed in the hotel. Very nice lobby, forgot some essentials and they had them at the desk. The room was beautiful and so was the whole area. Driving thru the wooded landscapes of Galena on our way to the hotel was spectacular. Friendly and well informed staff, very clean room. We went to golf the course and we did "The General" kicked our butts and it was a challenge. We opted to go into downtown Galena, gift shops, restaurants and a nice walk taking in the local area. There is every thing at this resort that you could possible need or want. Well worth the price of the stay but get ready to pay big bucks for the golf courses. They have large chalets for larger groups if needed. A beautiful area to say the least. read more

My wife and I spent one night and golfed the General course. The golf was challenging but with many great views. The staff was very good. They had a shuttle that gave us a ride back forth from the course. The General Store is fully stocked with anything you may have forgotten. The rooms were clean with a nice view. The recreation staff was helpful and the rentals were in good shape and ready to use. I question why the room rates are so high. Everything seemed over priced and I was trying to figure out the value of it all but walked away feeling we paid to much for what we got. read more

had the best long weekend here is the craziest little cabin! it was some kinda kit house from the 70's that was in the shape of a circle off in the woods somewhere. there were a bunch of them in the area but surrounded by woods so you felt like you were utterly alone out there and so it was very private. there was a large porch, a BBQ, living room, two bedrooms, two baths and a tiny but totally functional kitchen. it was the craziest coolest thing ever. we hardly ever even went into town b/c we loved our little cabin so much and just spent the weekend chilling out and cooking our own food on the BBQ. the master bathroom was the best part of the whole thing! it had this tall, circular sitting tub that you sat upright in and a shower right next to it that was a matching shape! it was insane. it was so cool b/c you could tell that the WHOLE bathroom, like the walls, fixtures, sink, bath, whatever, the WHOLE thing had been shipped in pieces and just put together on sight. that is how the whole cabin worked. cool little kit house from the 70's, dude. it rocked and was super romantic. read more
