I just spoke with the owner Henry at Shoe Lab Brentwood who informed me that their website has been hacked. I called to check on status of an order I placed last week on some snow boots on their website and he informed me that they have indeed been hacked and have been working with law authorities to rectify this issue. I then checked my bank account and realized my PayPal account was charged $500 by the hacker. I'm so glad I was able to speak with Henry to gather this info and call my bank to report the fraud charges. These guys have been great to me. I love around the corner and drop off dry cleaning at Fazio's, so it's very convenient to stop there. The shoe shine is wonderful, as is the shoe repair. Even had to get some new holes punched in leather belts as I've skimmed down, and they've done that while I waited. They are good, smart, professional and fast. I had an awful experience here . DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS! Last year I dropped of a few pairs of Louboutins to be cleaned and re matched in bottom colors . I was charged over 500 dollars and to my disappointment the color was totally off. I was naive and too lazy to take them to the store where I had bought them since I live 2 minutes from this place . So I paid, left and basically made myself responsible for the poor choice. Today after a year I needed to drop of a few pairs of heels to get fixed .. I discussed them with the man across the counter and agreed to his high fee because yet again I live close and thought to myself it will save me a longer drive etc. finally I pulled out a pair of Chanel heels that just needed a bit of stretching . He quoted me 80 dollars ! Lol yes 80 dollars I asked him if he can please give me a break I am a good customer and at Nordstrom's they to do it within 2 min in front of you with a stretcher . Why so much ? He had the audacity to tell me well these are Chanel heels and if you go to Starbucks u wouldn't get a free coffee if you would ask. I did not ask him to do free work! I grabbed all my items and told him I will no longer give you my business and that I will share this experience. Only because we live in Brentwood and own designer items does not MEAN we are rich or stupid. I clearly noticed that they will up charge you here if you have a designer item although it's the same task u ask for. Dropped off three pairs of shoes which I had been procrastinating on for a few years and they did a good job to replace the soles, add rubber soles and condition and clean. Yes, most likely it's a slightly higher price but it's extremely convenient if you live in the area and they are really quick. read more

I am more of a DIY person, but I had a pair of 4 year old shoes in bad shape. After trying to get them clean myself, took them to Franklin at the Shoe Lab in Brentwood and he got them back to pristine condition! Definitely worth the money! This place should not be in business. They tried to charge me $35 to get the bottom of my one shoe fixed. I said I'm only willing to pay max $20, since it was a super easy fix, and probably wouldn't take more then 15 minutes to do. They looked at me like I was crazy and pretty much threw the shoe back at my face. Humiliated, I walked down the street to paris shoe repair and he charged me $15 for the same job. This is not the first time I tried to get my shoes fixed at shoe lab. Since it's closer to my house it's much more convenient than going all the way down to bundy and Wilshire. The first time at shoe lab, I did t wrote a review but I should have so here it is.. They tried to charge me $70 for a seam that had torn on one shoe. I thought that price sounded super unfair, so again, I left and went to Paris shoe repair and he did it for $35. Don't give these guys your business please. Their prices are unfair and they are super unprofessional. I never had them do any work on any shoes of mine cuz both times I turned them down, but honestly, I don't care how good they are as far as their quality goes... Key services only- probably the WORST key maker in all of LA. I needed 2 sets of 4 keys to be copied. They only got 1 set right and cost around $40, an absolute rip off. When we went to return the failed keys the next day, the scum lord behind the counter told us that we must have brought in the wrong keys! We later found out that Ralph's on Bundy and Wilshire has a key machine and can do most keys. Take your "hard to match copies" somewhere else, the extra drive time will still save you money and effort. read more

Maybe it's my fault for getting awful service the first time and going back for more, but they are right across the street and the location was tempting. The first time i went, it cost $300 for 5 pairs of pumps to get retipped and polished. I'm pretty sure I could have bought almost that many new ones for the same price. The second (and LAST) time I went, I had a metallic gold pump that I had scraped on a stair, and i asked him if he could even the scrape out. I went to pick up my shoe, and they had spray painted it a more gold color than original! Imagine- painting a $100 shoe. Not only that, but it was all crusty from the paint, and you could still see the scrape! They didn't even try to rub out the fabric, they just painted over it. RIDICULOUS. So I have super golden crusty pumps that are scraped, AND it cost me $60 for the beyond awful work!! I told him how displeased I was, and he said they could fix it again. I mentioned that they should have fixed it the first time instead of trying to pass spray paint off as their best work. Next time I'll save the hassle and get my own can of spray paint for $4. read more

They do a good job, and in a timely fashion - but you WILL pay an arm and a leg. I used to come here when I lived in Brentwood. I figured the convenience and speed was somewhat worth it. (I would pay just about anything not having to drive across Wilshire or the 405, can I get an amen?) And like I said, they do a decent job. I had several shoes re-soled, and they really are as good as new. Make sure you ask for their frequent buyer card - you get like 10% off (I don't quite remember how much, but better than nothing). Found another place on Santa Monica who was so much more appreciative than this guy and charged me $15... I don't think price of the service should change you think I have couple of millions in the bank and will pay you $80 for a 0.50 plastic tip cover. They do a good job but it's so expensive. $11 for each pair of heels you want re-heeled. I've had much better pricing elsewhere. It also seems kind of arbitrary; when I first popped in to ask about the pricing I was told it'd be $10.95 per pair, then when I brought my shoes in and saw a different guy he quoted me $12.95 per pair. I said that I'd gotten a different quote and he was like oh, really? OK, fine. $10.95. When places don't have their prices listed I feel like they change them around depending on the customer. read more

These people are magic workers for shoes. They do a fabulous job, and they're quick too. I've gotten a pair of Frye boots redone here twice, and they always come back looking like new. The staff is so friendly. It's a small little spot right next to Fazio cleaners and Yogurtland. You have to pay upfront before the service is done. Their work is good but they've gotten SO expensive. I've been taking my shoes to them for years (both this branch and the Topanga Canyon one) and never tried anywhere else so didn't realize that repairing shoes didn't have to cost this much. I recently asked them for an estimate to re-heel and shine my favorite boots and they said $75!! I guess the state of the current economy gave me a reality check because I decided to check out other places. Needless to say, I got them done elsewhere for $25 and they did a great job. Worst customer service ever. If I could give them zero stars I would. Do not go here ever. I took 4 pairs of brand new Cole Haan dress shoes, still in their boxes unworn, to get taps on the heels. Not ok my did the rude manager/ owner. Charge me $6 a pair, when last week I went in for the very same thing on a different pair of shoes and his son only charged me $5, but they completely ruined my shoes and had the audacity to blame me! My shoes were back in the boxes when I Picked them up so I got home and saw that on two of the 4 pairs the back of the heels were cracked and split EXACTLY where they hammered the nails for the taps. I went back in and showed them and said that they must have hammered the nails in at an angle and split the heels. The manager said I just have come in with them that way and "he's the expert and has been doing this since he was 12". He told me I needed to bring in a "Cole Haan representative" for a second opinion. They completely ruined 2 pairs of my brand new shoes and would not take accountability for it and worst of all blamed me. Never go here. Almost $12, but fine, because we just wanted to have them done quickly and these guys were near our home. Then when we went to pick them up I asked the guys if he could just take care of one little stitch that was loose. Literally one stitch. He said ok fine, never said he would charge more for it. In preparation for a winter trip I was taking this past month I decided it was time to spiff up my black boots, which were in pretty sorry shape. The guys at Shoe Lab guaranteed me my boots would be good as new for the not so pretty price of $75. This included a new sole, some required restitching, and a polish. Considering the boots were $125 new and theyre about two years old, i wasnt sure it was worth the money, but decided to give it shot anyway, just to see if it was possible to have these babies looking new again. Sure enough the boots looked great when I picked them up. They had that new super shiny black shoe polish look, which the boots didnt have when i bought them (thats not the style of the boot) but after a few days of wearing them the super-shinyness mellowed out. It was a good investment in a pair of boots that i love and havent found a comparably awesome replacement for yet. read more

Conveniently located, I thought this would be a good place as I needed my soles replaced. The signage says, "Instant Shoe Repair," but it was anything but. I dropped the shoes off at 10:00, and was told they'd be ready by noon. Arrived at 12:05 p.m., and was told they would be ready "in 10 minutes." Had to wait until 12:30 p.m. and feed the meter another 1/2 hour to accommodate them. The work was fine, but it was overpriced, and certainly not "instant." read more

Truly a wretched business. I was charged $175-- yes, you heard that correctly-- to do a purse repair. This included outside (dyeing and shining) and inside (fixing scuff marks, stains, etc.) They did a terrible job. The dye came off immediately when it brushed against my clothing, which I know have to get dry cleaned. They were completely unable to do improve the inside, and when I pointed this out to them, they told me that there wouldn't have been much I could do about the inside in the first place. Why they didn't tell me this when I brought the purse in, instead allowing me to pay extra for inside work, is beyond me. Oh, it's also worth mentioning that they were 5 days late on their original promised date of delivery. Nobody I spoke to was helpful in any way, and even after one of the employees admitted that the purse didn't look great, I was offered no refund.
