Went to Mr. Tire on Rt 18 in East Brunswick last week for a synthetic oil change for my older…read moreLexus. (I only went there because I bought my Goodyear Assurance Tires there a few months back and tire rotations are FREE). That was my third time. First was for the tire replacement where they told me I needed new struts, brakes, and a steering rack. (The struts and brakes were replaced no more than 1K miles prior.) The second time I brought my girlfriends AWD Lexus for an oil change and they said a rotation was not required? The first thing I did (an I suggest you do) is I marked the right front tire with a small mark from a pink sharpe as I had a similar problem with Mavis on Rt. 18 in East Brunswick not rotating the tires after they said they did. They were very nice of course when I came in, pulled the car in promptly. About 30 min later the "gentleman" that was at the front desk approached me with a very worried look. He said, listed you have a few problems. Firstly, your spark plugs are misfiring and all need to be replaced. (I did replace the plugs and coils at Toyota less than 100K ago but maybe it was legit.) He also said I needed a coolant flush, and my power steering was leaking. I knew about the drip from the power steering rack as another shop told me to just keep an eye on it but I would not worry about replacing the rack at this time. I denied the services and the "gentlemans" demeanor changed. He pulled my car out, I scanned my Amex and went outside. Of course I went over to the right front tire and yes, the right front tire with the pink sharpie mark was still there. I went inside and asked "did you guys rotate the tires?" Almost immediately he said YES. I asked again, "You sure"? He said let me check and went out to the garage. He came back and said, I will do it now just give me your keys. A long rant but my point is to STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. Very dishonest and at this point I would not recommend anyone go there unless you have an emergency like a nail in your tire.

I waited while the shocks arrived from Autozone. They took off my old shocks in the interim. When they arrived during the installation I asked to see the shocks, the manager went into the shop and returned saying they were Duralast and the same as KYB but was AutoZone's brand. Not even close to being the same, the shocks removed although being old had a stiffer ride. I told them I tow a trailer. Durolast has a softer ride not stiff as KYB. I told the manager I am getting aggravated as first the price changed, then told they were KYB's, then told Durolasts are the same as KYB but was AutoZones version. I would not recommend going here. While the work itself was good, their sales tactics are unprofessional.

They replaced the tire on 3rd July as quickly as they were able to source a compatible tire. George was courteous and changed us a very reasonable fee. I highly recommend this place. Yet there are situations where I need professional help, especially when things are not easily accessible. On one such recent instance, I got work done at Sweeney's, at the recommendation of my neighbor. And I am very happy with the service provided to me. George gave estimates up front for the labor and cost of the replacement part (I had insisted on OEM). Their labor charge was very competitive compared to that quoted by other places for the same work. But more importantly, the OEM part cost quoted was exactly the same as what I would have had to pay for direct purchase if I had taken the DIY route (there were a few online suppliers offering an extra $10-20 discount but that's too minor to consider). This is indeed a major plus point, since most of the others charge bloated prices for parts, going by my experience, and then install cheap aftermarket variants (which are in fact available for direct purchase at $30-40 a piece, if one is content with them). Again, a singularly pleasant experience and I will gladly return to Sweeney's whenever the need arises. I rate Sweeney's highly both for honesty and quality of workmanship.

I'm updating my review:…read more I've had the privilege of interacting with Fred's Towing during an Impound retrieval. Since I've never dealt with a impound before in my life, it was pretty annoying. I had two cars impounded in two different locations. One here and one somewhere else. Overall, not happy with the treatment here. The next part I don't understand or maybe the local code is unclear. From what I read, the tow company will tow your car to any location inside the municipality where the car was towed from for no additional fee. Maybe, I don't understand this code but this is the issue I'm having. The other tow company is towing my second car back to my location from a different township at no additional charge. So, why did this place try to charge me additional for this. I'm going to leave this alone. I'm not the expert and wish someone could explain it to me. However, how it was handled when I questioned it was out of control. Telling your customer to file a complaint with the police department shouldn't be your final thought. The business gets an extra star for having their prices displayed in view of his customers. Also, this impound lot is in a flood zone. Reason I know this, I inquired about a property to purchase across the street and flood insurance was required. Also being a resident of south river for 31 years, this area always floods during a bad storm, and/or sometimes with high tides. Even though it's been told to me by the business no cars were ever damaged due to flooding. I wouldn't risk it. Remove your vehicle whenever you get the chance too. Mother nature is unpredictable. Lastly, I've interacted with Fred's towing in the past and I've never had a problem. I don't know if ownership has changed but this will be the last time I use their services for anything.

Not sure which one to leave a review on! But just in case:…read moreWe have had these guys tow our cars, open locked cars, jump start. They always come ASAP and show up with a smile! Great service! One of the best!
