I have a Ford F150 Transit Cargo Van for work. I went to several places, dealer, AAMCO and other transmission specialist. They all said the transmission is shot and need to junk the van otherwise it would be a very expensive $ 5-7000 repair. I then asked Murphy's garage ( who is the best mechanic in Morristown), and he said every mechanic takes their transmission work to Joe at Madison Transmission. I had these guys change a chipped and broken flywheel on my 2007 F150. I had looked around and some of the prices I was getting were crazy. My regular mechanic told me about these guys so I gave them a call. I was blown away and how much less they were charging then all others. Not only that, They replaced the flex plate and the starter for less than all the other were trying to gtet for just the fles plate. The truck runs great. Definitly reccomend !! read more

Joe & co replaced the clutch in my old beater on short notice for about a kilobuck, which was a few bucks less than quoted. They claimed they only use original parts, gotta take that one on faith. I got the car back far sooner than expected, the clutch seems to be doing the job just fine, no more slipping! Come back for a free checkup at 400 miles the man says, I'll update the review after that. They take credit but (surprise) prefer checks or cash. So far I'm a fan. read more

Got my transmission done. The owner joe is a nice guy and gave me a great deal. My car has been running like new and I'm very satisfied.

I shipped these fools a fully tested $1,700 transmission, and they dropped it and broke it, and made me pay to ship it back saying it was bad after they broke it. Joe is also a biggot calling our female employee's bad names when confronted about the fact. We will see them in court soon. read more

I had taken my car last week to have my Kia Sorento examined for its inability to engage in the "4lo" gear.I had not ben here since the 80's, and I remember having a good experience then, though Yelp was not even a twinkle in the eye of technology! As I say, I dropped off my car and within a couple of hours was told what the problem was but that a Kia dealer could best deal with it, or he could install the part if I just got it from the dealer. In any case, he did not charge me for the diagnostic nor did he accept any money as compensation. It is rare to experience such "old world" behavior, but it was welcomed. This business appears to maintain good ethics, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest establishment. read more

I brought my car in because it seems like the transmission was slipping. They kept the car overnight and checked it out at the end of the day I picked it up and they told me it wasn't the transmission. I asked what I owed and they didn't charge me anything. Although I didn't have anything fixed I believe a rip-off shop would charge me for checking the transmission out or make up something that was wrong with the transmission to part me from my cash. They did neither. This goes a long way in my book as far as them being honest. I would bring my car there for the transmission to be fixed anytime. read more

I brought them a rear end from a 89 blazer with new ring and pinion for them to install -- all they had to do is install new parts picked it up put the rear back in my truck soon after while driving a ring bolt shot through the rear cover called them up they came picked up the truck towed it to there shop welded the hole in the cover tightened the ring gear bolts ---- when I picked it up they said to me to keep an eye on the rear ____________ what a crappy deal ______ they suck read more

Joe and his crew at Rose City Transmission rebuilt my 2005 Acura RL transmission. They were able to diagnose the issue immediately upon Arrival. The price quoted was reasonable and after giving them the green light to go ahead and do the work, the car was in the shop as they were working to take the transmission down. Joe also informed me of two separate issues they found while taking the trans' down from the vehicle. He went ahead and replaced two motors mounts for me at no labor cost - only parts. He advised me it wouldn't be a big deal at all since The car was totally apart. What a great deal that was and such honesty and transparency in today's age is rare. Joe, the owner of the shop, is an honest, good hearted person, and highly knowledgeable mechanic. The shop can be described as a well clean, organized and professional work atmosphere. His crew is very polite, respectful and most importantly highly skilled and knowledgeable. There's no scams, middle of the night stuff going here. The reason you probably don't see any advertisement or marketing scheme from Joe is b/c his outstanding work does the speaking and clients know where to go by a long standing reputation that his own customers have built for him. I certainly recommend Rose City Transmission as your go to car shop! Don't let the transmission name/branding fool you - these guys do more than transmissions. Went into shop today to have transmission checked. Turned out the problem was not the transmission. Joe was very honest. He told me what to do and did not charge for the test. Will definitely go back here when something is wrong. Tough to find honest mechanic and finally found one read more

3 year ordeal is OVER! I have 4x4 in forward and reverse. Over the last 3 years my truck had 4x4 in forward but not reverse. Rose City Trans rebuilt the transfer case 3 years ago and again 2 years ago, then they took it apart 4 more times but were unable to fix it. GM dealer charged $400 for a speed sensor, but did not fix it. Finally, in the last storm I lost 4x4 totally and took it to Wayne Transmission. Turns out it was rebuilt with the wrong parts. If you need transmission or 4x4 work I highly recommend Wayne Transmission. read more
