Lunch with a fried at Earls on Western. We met at 12:30 today (Friday) and the restrauant was packed. Always a good sign! You order at the counter, take a number, and a server brings you order to the table. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fried Okra. The sandwich was very good. The fried Okra was excellent. The tab for two sandwichs with drinks was $34. A little pricey for lunch. The noise was acceptable for a full packed restrauant. read more

Y'all hurt my feelings today. I'd been thinking about a super loaded potato all week and ordered one to pick up for dinner tonight. Got home and unwrapped the saddest dried up potato imagined. Along with that, the brisket (?) was gray, completely dried out, and looks more like a slice of dehydrated Spam or a dog treat. The butter, sour cream, and cheese were also missing from the bag. The sauce definitely tasted off. I ended up just trashing 3/4 of it. Before you blame me for not checking the bag before I left, the way the bags are folded and stapled five or six times makes it a complete scene if someone stops to rip it open and confirm the contents. PS- I was contacted by management and I believe that they are sincere about wanting to offer the best service and product. I've been a customer for years and understand bad nights happen. This one experience isn't going to keep me from returning, I want to be clear about that. We were looking for a place to have lunch before our brother returned back to Texas, when came upon Earl's Rib Palace. The restaurant was neat in appearance, clean and well organized. The staff were all friendly and very welcoming. When we walked in there were a few people already in there eating their lunches as it was approximately 1130AM. The aroma of smoke and meats permeated the restaurant. My brother ordered the 1/2 lb of brisket, with corn on the cob and I got the turkey sandwich with side order of fried okra. The brisket not only looked dry it was dry it was tasteless and it wasn't moist or juicy as in most BBQ restaurants. The corn on the cob was plain jane, sadly tasteless and didn't have much flavor. I ordered the turkey sandwich and sad to say, the turkey sandwich was just as dry and tasteless, the fried okra was as flavorless, and tasteless as the corn on the cob. I'm glad that this was our first and last time as I really can't see myself coming back. read more

Earl's used to be a good BBQ restaurant, a decade or more back. They still have a good burger and arguably the best wings in town. But it really ends there. We went there Friday night, probably for our last time. I had the 2 meat combo of ribs and turkey. Sides were fries and green beans. The green beans were so salty they were literally inedible. I switched them out for baked beans and those just tasted bad. The ribs were just ok but the turkey was incredibly dry. The fries were good. The Texas toast was so toasty, it was basically a large crouton. I don't think there's anyone tasting the food as they prepare it. Quality control seems to be nonexistent. The service was a nice young kid but we had to venture back to get our items they forgot, an extra rib, extra sauce, etc, so friendly but not good service and clearly untrained. Staff seemed to be focused primarily on to go orders while ignoring dine in patrons. For the price, there are MANY better options. They need someone in that restaurant teaching the cooks how to cook and taste test, teaching the wait staff how to provide better service, and just overall better training and management. The manager did visit our table once but it wasn't while we had food, it was while we only had drinks. The drinks were fine I told him. This is a poorly run restaurant. Too bad. read more

This is a one-star review, upgraded to two-star due to a convo w/the manager, who was at least respectful. But the food I ordered one day last week, was quite poor in quality and very much not what we've been used to from this establishment. I called him bc he needed to know *right then* who it was in his kitchen that sent this order out the door and get it fixed. The Earl-a-Penos were lacking in done-ness (almost raw, crunchy...um...no), and lacking in filler (supposed to be Mozzarella). Only one of the 6 in the order actually had the correct amount of cheese. One had some in it ... the other four ... nada (that I could see). Either staff is in too big a hurry to get things out the door, or they're being (wink, wink, nod, nod) told to dial back the amount of product (shrinkflation). Same story with the deviled eggs. How hard is it to mess that up? Well, I found out. It was as if someone had whipped the yolks and put them back into the egg halves, after only waving the ingredient jar over the batch. Not acceptable. My perspective is as a customer since around 2012, and having worked for 5 years as a professional in the food service industry. So this is not sour grapes, it's "Hey, y'all, somethin's wrong here." In the BC times (Before Covid) the portions were generous and food excellent at Earl's. We ate there often. That changed during Covid. The first time we ordered take out, portions were smaller and the prices higher. Hmmmm.... When we returned to in-person dining, the portions remained small, and prices have steadily risen. Even the plates they now serve with are smaller ... right ... try to make it look bigger ... I get it. But .... nope. When I asked the manager about 'shrinkflation' his response was "There is no corporate-wide decision to do anything like that." Which is very much *not* the same as saying "no." Right. No corporate-wide decision, that doesn't mean individual store managers aren't following a chain-wide directive to cut costs. Of course, less product (in both items I bought) is going to be cheaper, obvs. But at this point, I don't know if we'll go back. Other nearby options include Bedlam, Jeff's, Belle Isle Brewery, Johnnies for whom "shrinkflation" doesn't really seem to be an issue. Yes -- prices are higher, but the portions haven't changed anything like they have at Earl's. Bottom line: YMMV. MJ read more

A no frills BBQ spot with decent selection of variety, but certainly known for their ribs. I got the Binge plate, which had ribs (delicious), pulled pork (pretty good but small portion) sausage (meh) and glorified bologna (pass). Optioned for the Mac n cheese as well as potato salad. Pretty decent value for the amount of food, but I do wish the meat selection was a little bit better. If you're in the OKC area, I'd recommend checking out any of their locations! read more

So I rather enjoy my BBQ and am a bit of a big back myself when it comes to it. However here is what I noticed on my very first visit!! The minute I walked it I was greeted with smiles and antique decoration and of course when you see that you know it's about to be good. We were shown to our table where they took our drinks the sweet tea that I ordered was not very sweet, but it was good. I ordered the two meat because they didn't offer a half rack of ribs so I was able to get my half rack by ordering the two meat, I will say the food was very tender and very tasty but what made everything better was the waitress absolute sweetheart a very close attention to her tables always had a smile and make sure everything is excellent. Even got my girls extra pickles. Her name was Shelby! Now for the price VERY WELL PRICED!!! I ordered 3 large meals and 2 kids meals and it was only $80 dollars or so you can't beat that!!! The environment is a classic BBQ spot feel and, in all honesty, the age demographic is usually on the higher side and exactly what you'd expect, but I take that as a seal of approval in this location. The food is timeless and I'm pretty sure I nearly order every side on the menu here, but what sets it over the top and makes it worth returning to is the service. It's an "order at the counter and take a number" restaurant, but even then, the attendee taking my order at the register has been so amazing, he even recognized me last time I dined in. This is the best BBQ in Oklahoma City. Their meats are consistently mouth watering and have delivered time and again through the years. Along with the sausage, pork, and beef brisket are some fantastic sides. Choices a plenty include fried okra, baked beans, and curly fries. Don't forget about their burgers. I think these are the best in OKC for their size and quality beef ratio. Make sure that you ask for the "Taking Care of Business" burger. Stand back... they holler "Burger Down" every time a hamburger is ordered. When it arrives at your table, you will delight in this non-menu, not so-secret craving that includes a bacon-cheeseburger, with grilled onions, and jalapeños. First, thank you Earl's for being open on Sundays. I suppose it was the polarizing reviews that caused me to avoid them for the longest time. But boy I shouldn't have, because they pleasantly surprised me today. My smoked bologna sandwich with added coleslaw was smoky and delicious! Bologna is sliced a bit thinner here than at other joints, but still thick enough, and then piled in a neat meat mound. That plus a side for only $5 may just be the best bang for your buck in this entire city. I tried their curly fries and fried okra sides as well, both hefty portions, both crispy and addictive, especially dipped in the ranch I asked for. BBQ sauce was the typical Oklahoma version and added a nice tang to my sandwich. They even threw in a pickle wedge, nice touch. Service was fast and friendly and they happily greeted me out in the parking lot for car-side Covid takeout. Their tight parking lot is my only issue here. Earl's is a solid classic Oklahoma barbecue joint worth trying, and an especially great value in a city where that's becoming harder to find. I used to live across from this earls location and ordered takeout probably twice a week. Convenient, variety of menu items and taste is what i remember. Last week i stopped in for lunch and ordered their bologna dinner lunch lite portion for $7.99 i got more bologna than i could eat even if i was starved, a slice of toast, fries and fried okra. Their fries are curly fries style and never soggy which i love. I dip the fries in their mild sauce they have on the table and it's just so good! The okra was smothered in grease yet it was still good. The bologna didn't taste like it used to it was so slimy and just not tasty. I really only ate my sides. Next time i visit I'll try something else because the meat wasn't good and tasted not so great in fact i got sick from it and will take a while before i plan on coming back. read more

First time here last night. It was very good and the staff were great as well. They were friendly, helpful and generous with our order. Really good carryout experience. Meat: We got sliced brisket, smoked turkey and pulled pork for our meats. Each one was great flavor, light on the smokiness. Sauce: The hot barbecue sauce was also nice, the spicy seems to come from chili powder. Good sauce, maybe could be better in my taste. Sides: The potato salads are both really good, great ingredients, add a little salt and pepper step the flavor up a notch. We love the food at Earl's. That said, the service at the N. Western location sucks. When we walked in, the crew seemed very annoyed by our presence. They were very curt as they told us to order before taking a seat in the dining room. The food came out quick and it was very good, but we never saw a waiter again. I eat at this Earl's about every two weeks and as of various visits, the food is always top notch. I usually order the Big Earl (6 ribs and two sides) and because of the quanity of great food I have enough to take home for a second meal the next day. I also order a brisket sandwich with one side to take home for my wife. They are not skimpy with the amount of beef and the side is usually fried okra. All the sides including the salads and baked potatos are outstanding. The bbq beans are good but a little heavy of the sauce which many find just like they like them, Overall, this place is a knockout for BBQ and I give it my highest reccomendation. read more

My family's go-to bbq place. We usually order the brisket or full rack of ribs with a basket of fried okra. Quick and easy take out. Reasonably priced. The dinner specials are great too. Large portions. Flavor is always spot on and I've never been disappointed. They offer you a free drink while you wait on your to-go order. Friendly staff. I could eat the fried okra all day.
