Stayed here again in the summer this time. I have never seen rooms so clean. Every room has a large size fridge and microwave comfortable beds. Angela and her husband work hard to maintain this property and keep it in top shape. This is the place to stay if you are in Winslow. Nice to sit outside and relax watch the sunrise. I would highly recommend this place.

I drove over from Texas because my mom was in the hospital in Winslow. I needed a place near the hospital, and didn't know how long I'd need to be here. I called and spoke to Angela, who assured me she had a room available, and I could certainly stay for a few days if need be. That stay stretched into nearly 2 weeks, as I ended up staying over an extra week for my mom's funeral. The room was comfortable, warm and clean. The bed was even more comfortable than my own bed at home! (Really! I'm not exaggerating!) Angela and Blas went above and beyond to accommodate me and make sure I was well cared for. In fact, I felt more like a family member during my stay than a customer, as they went out of their way to show me compassion, care, and friendship. It made my difficult circumstances a little easier to deal with.

Iconic restoration of the motel experience.

Perfect Neon stop on Our Route 66 experience. Room was clean, everything worked and we enjoyed it as much our short stop in Winslow allowed.

The owners are amazing people! They go above and beyond to accommodate your stay. They even gave me a ride to my broken down truck to get my luggag. Comfy beds with hand made quilts. Super soft towels. Location is within walking distance of multiple restaurants and the popular Corner.

Angela and Blas welcomed us like family coming home for the holidays. We felt very welcome and enjoyed the nostalgia of Earl's place very much. This establishment is convenient to all that Winslow has to offer. The place was clean, comfortable and economical. I will surely stay here again when we pass through in the future.

Just curious, is smoking allowed in any of the rooms? Being an older establishment, I would think when it was more fashionable, smoking was allowed

I'm sorry, all the rooms are non-smoking. However, we do have smoking areas outside. I apologise for the late response, I just received your question.

The Staff are super friendly and the place is old, but well kept to a boutique style hotel.. It's old old school.. If you struggle with carrying your luggage up two long flights of stairs, request ground floor.. There is no elevator.. Just FYI.. We were put in the smallest room they have.. Didn't know that until we were told that checking out.. They weren't even fully booked.. The room was small.. The Clark Gable Room.. Who ever stuck us in that room wasn't very nice, just saying.. The bed was hard and difficult to sleep on and the pillows didn't make it much easier either..Also there is only one outlet to charge phones on. There is only a charger/outlet on the table next to sink area. The air conditioner had one speed and didn't cool very well.. It was only 98 degrees outside.. I will tell you the shower room was seperate from the sink which was nice.. The shower was spacious and comfortable to shower in.. The lavender soap is nice too.. The towels were super thick and nice.. Had we been in a bigger or more comfortable room i probably would have given more stars.. To be honest.. Probably won't stop here again..

Instead, I broke up my stays between two hotels. The Winslow appears to be a newer hotel in the area. Since I was busy with the tournament, I didn't get a chance to explore much of the hotel. My room was clean and had a king bed, flat screen TV, small desk, mini closet, and more. It was plenty spacious for me and would be spacious for two people as well. The bathroom featured a large shower and large sink. Like one Yelper mentioned, the bathroom fan stays on the whole time. I've never experienced that before, but once I closed the door, I couldn't really hear it anymore. The hotel includes a hot breakfast with your stay which I took advantage of right before checking out. The buffet offered eggs, sausage, potatoes, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and more. There's also a bar that offers drinks and food. I slept well and had no issues during my stay. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant and helpful.

It was nice that we didn't have to drive somewhere to have dinner and a cocktail. The hotel was recently remodeled, the rooms were decorated nicely and the bed was comfortable. The reason we will not return is because the fan in the bathroom cannot be turned off, it is very loud. So we had to shut the door to block the sound, that could be ok except when it's dark and you have to find your way to the bathroom. The second reason we would not go back is because the air conditioner unit is very loud. Every time it came on it would wake us.

It was very affordable ($45 a night) and the bed was SUPER comfortable. Each room has small fridge and microwave. Soft, fluffy white towels and is cozy. It's also located quite a bit off the freeway, which is nice because you get a decent night's sleep. Right across the street is small lounge and restaurant. Had cocktails that night in the lounge (no food there after 8pm) and a pretty typical diner breakfast in the lounge the next day. The Desert Sun Motel is a nice little oasis in the desert.

Being able to not take interstate highways for a lot of the trip AND having no clue where we were going to spend each night was something we looked forward to. Arriving late afternoon in Winslow we drove slowly past the Desert Sun Motel. The rooms were in a semi circle around a huge pea gravel parking area. We checked in to room 22 and I must say that it was one of the nicest budget places we have stayed in a long time. At $40 including taxes, this was not the cheapest place we stayed in, but the room was one of the best. It had recently been remodeled and the bathroom was just like home ... spacious, nice tile, well lit ... really clean and roomy. The bedroom had a most comfortable mattress and armoir, sitting chair with ottoman and TV. The room had a very neutral odor ... no cover ups here ... and very quiet during the evening. Driving through Winslow might scare most people off from stopping, but take the time to walk around, have a cup of coffee and definitely stay overnight at the Desert Sun. Nice managers and nice motel. You will think you are back in the 50's again.

Given that I was driving from the LA area to Chicago, this was my first stop. I arrived at 12:45am (the night of 12/30, early early morning 12/31), and walked into the lobby where no one was to be found. I waited for over 20 minutes there after many attempts to call them with the coffee phone provided, as well as ringing the bell, and calling from my personal phone - NO ANSWER, NOBODY. After a very long day of driving and being up early, I was very unsure what to do as all I needed was a bed to sleep in since I had another long drive the next day. I called the Quality Inn down the road since they are apart of the same group that owns Econolodge, and the guy didn't know what to tell me and basically told me to call a main number for help since they had no vacancies. That number did not get me connected to anyone since it wasn't during normal business hours. Long story short, I ended up staying at a Quality Inn in Holbrook (a 35 minute from there) and didn't get to bed until well after 2pm. I also ended up paying more than triple than what I initially paid which they will not refund me for which I find strange considering it was their fault I was put in this predicament. I was very displeased and it makes me disappointed to have even signed up with Choice Hotels.
