    Spacious and colorful room.

This is a very interesting historic hotel located right on the train line. Apparently, this building was once one of the Fred Harvey Houses built along the railroad line. It was also designed by a female architect, something that was not common at all at that time (or even now, sadly). Lots of movie stars and even presidents have stayed here and the property has a long, interesting history, you can read about. At present, there is a literal train stop at the back of the hotel, just about 100 feet away. Really. If train noises at all hours--and I do mean at ALL hours--bothers you, make sure you specifically ask for a room far, far away from the train tracks. We were about mid-way from the tracks and could hear trains all night long. Yes, each room has ear plugs but not everyone wants to wear those things. The hotel has a very nice looking restaurant and bar (and they do have a happy hour) and the bar doubles as a coffee house in the morning, which is smart business. We didn't eat at the restaurant, mostly because the dinner prices were off the charts, although I would have liked to have done so. The lunch prices seem more reasonable. The property itself has a beautiful courtyard and a large room they call a "ballroom" and lots of spaces for exploring. They also have many free board games set about which you can use. At the back of the property, facing the train stop, there are chairs set about if you want to relax and/or watch the trains. Apparently, there are roving skunks, too, so keep that in mind. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a wild skunk or two (are there any domesticated skunks?). Our room was delightful. The entire property has a Southwestern theme and decor. During our visit, they had some absolutely wild art hung about here there and everywhere. Perhaps this art is up permanently. I love art but some of it, apart from just being on the weird side, was also somewhat political and, frankly, I think distracted from the beauty of this place. I would stay here again...but only if I was located far, far from the trains at night.

Yelpers, On a road trip we headed North to Winslow, AZ. Make sure you see the historic hotel La Posada the lunch was excellent. Wife had roast turkey with Swiss and I had the art 66 Roast Beef So delicious lunch....Quick to be seated Check out the towns history. I'm sure for the train lovers you'll see a few BSNF trains roll thru town. Amtrak Southwest Chief stops here...

I've stayed at hotels all around the world and when I say La Posada is one of the most romantic, calm, tranquil, charming hotels I truly mean it. Wow! I was blown away. It's not often I think I'll find myself in Winslow, AZ but I was driving to Dallas from LA and knew I'd stop here night 1. I had my precious baby girl with me and they are a pet friendly hotel. We loved our stay so much! The bar was fantastic, the restaurant for dinner delish, the property - so peaceful! I'd only driven 7+ hours this day but this hotel was the most welcoming slice of heaven on Earth. If you find yourself in this area, I cannot recommend them enough.

We recently stopped again with a friend for Lunch. This place is so full of history it has so many interesting pictures of what it use to look like and so many interesting paintings by the current owners wife of current life. The restaurant was not full when we stopped for a late lunch my wife use to frequently stay as a guest when she was working in the area several years ago. If you have not stopped at this place and are heading on I 40 it's a must stop you will not be disappointed I hope.we have continued to enjoy over the years and continue to find new things we have not noticed in the past.

12/23/25 Girls Christmas get together. We had happy hour drinks and dinner. Ambience was beautiful with all the Christmas decorations. Bartenders gave us top notch service. Food was delicious! I would love to come back with my girls for another night out.

    Crème brûlée

Comparatively speaking, this is probably the best place to stay in the area. The prices of the room, however, is a little high. There is no microwave or fridge in the room. There are lots and lots of books, which isn't hygienic. Would have rather had a small microwave and small fridge in the room. The food at the restaurant was good, however, a little heavy. The soup was lukewarm at best. It was very good, however probably would've been great if it was hot. The crème brûlée left a lot to be desired. For $13, I could not believe how small it was and there wasn't even the crusty sugar on top. It was all mush. I got five ends of the bread and only three of the inner portions of the bread. Sus. No bueno.

Very beautiful location! Their gardens are absolutely stunning. So many native and heat tolerant plants made it very inspiring. Was very relaxing to spend time in. So much to see and do at this location!

Passing through town and we wanted/needed a great meal. TTR abided. Nice rotating menu, nice environment, very good service. This old Harvey Hotel has lots of stuff to check out as you wander the inside.

I was looking for a hotel on maps close to "the corner" in Winslow. Saw this hotel and investigated. Made a reservation and here we are. Pleasantly surprised isn't an accurate description. Blown away. The owners bought this abandoned hotel in 1994 and spent 22 years remodeling and they did a great job. Everyone who works here is great - friendly, nice, helpful etc... The grounds are amazing and currently enjoying a drink in the sunken garden. So much better than a holiday inn express. You won't be disappointed.

Instead, I broke up my stays between two hotels. The Winslow appears to be a newer hotel in the area. Since I was busy with the tournament, I didn't get a chance to explore much of the hotel. My room was clean and had a king bed, flat screen TV, small desk, mini closet, and more. It was plenty spacious for me and would be spacious for two people as well. The bathroom featured a large shower and large sink. Like one Yelper mentioned, the bathroom fan stays on the whole time. I've never experienced that before, but once I closed the door, I couldn't really hear it anymore. The hotel includes a hot breakfast with your stay which I took advantage of right before checking out. The buffet offered eggs, sausage, potatoes, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and more. There's also a bar that offers drinks and food. I slept well and had no issues during my stay. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant and helpful.

It was nice that we didn't have to drive somewhere to have dinner and a cocktail. The hotel was recently remodeled, the rooms were decorated nicely and the bed was comfortable. The reason we will not return is because the fan in the bathroom cannot be turned off, it is very loud. So we had to shut the door to block the sound, that could be ok except when it's dark and you have to find your way to the bathroom. The second reason we would not go back is because the air conditioner unit is very loud. Every time it came on it would wake us.

It was very affordable ($45 a night) and the bed was SUPER comfortable. Each room has small fridge and microwave. Soft, fluffy white towels and is cozy. It's also located quite a bit off the freeway, which is nice because you get a decent night's sleep. Right across the street is small lounge and restaurant. Had cocktails that night in the lounge (no food there after 8pm) and a pretty typical diner breakfast in the lounge the next day. The Desert Sun Motel is a nice little oasis in the desert.

Being able to not take interstate highways for a lot of the trip AND having no clue where we were going to spend each night was something we looked forward to. Arriving late afternoon in Winslow we drove slowly past the Desert Sun Motel. The rooms were in a semi circle around a huge pea gravel parking area. We checked in to room 22 and I must say that it was one of the nicest budget places we have stayed in a long time. At $40 including taxes, this was not the cheapest place we stayed in, but the room was one of the best. It had recently been remodeled and the bathroom was just like home ... spacious, nice tile, well lit ... really clean and roomy. The bedroom had a most comfortable mattress and armoir, sitting chair with ottoman and TV. The room had a very neutral odor ... no cover ups here ... and very quiet during the evening. Driving through Winslow might scare most people off from stopping, but take the time to walk around, have a cup of coffee and definitely stay overnight at the Desert Sun. Nice managers and nice motel. You will think you are back in the 50's again.

Given that I was driving from the LA area to Chicago, this was my first stop. I arrived at 12:45am (the night of 12/30, early early morning 12/31), and walked into the lobby where no one was to be found. I waited for over 20 minutes there after many attempts to call them with the coffee phone provided, as well as ringing the bell, and calling from my personal phone - NO ANSWER, NOBODY. After a very long day of driving and being up early, I was very unsure what to do as all I needed was a bed to sleep in since I had another long drive the next day. I called the Quality Inn down the road since they are apart of the same group that owns Econolodge, and the guy didn't know what to tell me and basically told me to call a main number for help since they had no vacancies. That number did not get me connected to anyone since it wasn't during normal business hours. Long story short, I ended up staying at a Quality Inn in Holbrook (a 35 minute from there) and didn't get to bed until well after 2pm. I also ended up paying more than triple than what I initially paid which they will not refund me for which I find strange considering it was their fault I was put in this predicament. I was very displeased and it makes me disappointed to have even signed up with Choice Hotels.
