A visually appealing, opulent cafe replete with trendy Filipino breakfast items. This one is located on the ground level of the Century Mall in Poblacion, Makati. The guard will ask you where you are going and will point you down an outside corridor where the cafe is located. The menu here is already eye-catching as it reads like the morning newspaper. I had the *Adobo Sunrise* (php 295) and the *Yin & Yang Champorado* (php 275). The sunrise came with their apparently "famous" adobo flakes which were very much on the dryer side. The "breakfast rice" was also a touch bland even though it looked like it had garlic infused within. The champorado with a swirl of Belgian dark chocolate and white chocolate could arguably be a dessert, but I could also say the same thing about pancakes. The sweet toasted dilis/ dry fish on the side went well with the sweet rice porridge. I couldn't quite force myself to finish the entire meal and I may have lost my appetite after seeing some pernicious critters in the corner mid-meal. In any case, the cafe was decorated prettily and my food items certainly were eye-catching, but they may have missed the mark in taste some. read more

We started our day with a cup of American coffee, we then ordered the Bacon Chicharon, it was crispy but we were not blown away. It was my main entrée, sweet spicy tuyo (served inside a jar) that made the good impression; its a classic salty fish in original sweet and spicy sauce served with fried rice and sunny side egg. it was simply delicious, freshly made and a perfect meal to start a hectic day. After seeing all the glowing reviews, I was excited to try breakfast at the Early Bird Breakfast Club. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. It seems like this is a cafe that values appearances over taste. Yes, the decor is cute. But the much lauded french toast fondue was more like hard crackers with syrup served in a broken eggshell that I somehow ended up paying 210p for. My dining partners iced tea tasted like lime juice over ice with no tea, and after the first sip, wasn't touched again. As we left, disappointed and still hungry, I commented that we probably would have had a better breakfast at the ihop next door - which is just sad. There are so many other breakfast places in Makati to love, I was sad to waste one at this location. I don't need gimmicks, just good tasty food. The first thing I did when I came back to the Philippines after a long time was to eat champorado. It was what I have been craving for tremendously alongside taho! The day after I arrived in Manila, I took my cousins and I to Early Bird Breakfast Club and it was like we celebrated a grand reunion when I stepped inside. First order of business was to order Yin & Yang Champorado (P275) and French Toast Fondue (P210) with Lemon and Mint Iced Tea (P95). I know Yin & Yang Champorado is the most photographed food in the Metro around that time (and I still think it is), but there is some justice to it. I would photograph something that tasted so good I could cry bacon bits at command. What makes it special is that the white belgian chocolate and dark belgian chocolate perform magic in your taste buds along with dilis! It's a flavour explosion of chocolate proportions! To think I'm not so big on heavily sweetened dishes. Also, the pastels and the wall art are what makes me eager to come back each time. Sometimes, I wish I could take home their chopping boards and mason jars so I could recreate something like that at home. I also like their take on French Toast Fondue. My first Early Bird Breakfast Club experience all started with my uncontrollable desire to eat champorado. For those who don't know it, champorado is the quintessential Filipino breakfast porridge mixed with cocoa. Everything would have been ordinary, but Early Bird raised the bar with their Yin-Yang Champorado. According to Chinese philosophy, the yin-yang concept basically represent duality or the blending of two opposing forces in the natural world. It is symbolized by a circle divided by an 'S' line in the middle. The Yin-Yang Champorado has nothing to do with cosmic powers, I'm sure. But it's made up of two varieties of chocolates - Belgian white on one side of the yin-yang symbol and Belgian dark on the other. Two types of chocolates in one champorado, plus crispy dilis on the side. Top that! As a breakfast restaurant, Early Bird offers pancakes, toasts, omelettes, and morning meals from local and international cuisines. They also serve wines. Oh, dear, Lord. A place that serves breakfast? All day, every day? COUNT ME IN! EBBC is the penultimate "Sunday brunch with the amigas" restaurant. The interiors are soft and fresh, using cream and pastels to set the tone. I've fallen head over heels in love with this restaurant from the moment I read their menu. That breakfast can be served all day because good things can still happen, even after 5PM. (Or something along those lines!) Basically, it's a "yeah, this day can still get better even after all the effed up stuff that happened." I had the adobo flakes, which were-- well, I thought they'd be different. When you think of adobo flakes, they're deep fried, right? Mine were-- literally, chunks of adobo on top of rice. Still, it was pretty good. NOW, my favorite is the grilled cheese with tomato soup! Absolutely fantastic- from the freshly squeezed orange juice to the pancakes everything was excellent- great service ! We're just visiting the Philippines and it was really nice to see a restaurant that takes food and service seriously- everyone was so nice and accommodating and we were a party of 8 with two kids! This little breakfast spot is tucked beneath the century city mall. My first time there, my party was the first to be served that day. The hostess/waitress quickly sat and gave us our newspaper menus. Menus are clear and displayed pictures of their food. All the food options look and sound delish! My party visited Early Bird twice, (because the first time was that good)! We ordered the yin and yang champorado--AMAZING! The arroz caldo soup was a bit salty, but still good through the very end. The French toast sticks was a -- meh. Maybe if it was served hot or the sauces were hot, then I would've enjoyed it more. The bacon chicharon wasn't that good. Couldn't taste the bacon. Nothing too special about it. Just tasted deep fried. The sweet glazed Katcino did get me nervous at first, but whoa it was great! Anyway, they had good service. This was the first and ONLY place that actually asked me and my party if we were doing okay. Now I'm giving them 4 stars because the food was good. They put a great twist to traditional Filipino dishes. During my last visit at early bird, their cash register wasn't working properly. The waiter came over a few times to tell us that all our cards weren't working and if we had another card. There wasn't any explanation as to why this was happening. A little bothered by it. I took my balikbayan best friend here for breakfast after she had gotten in from a long-ass trip from the U.S. I wanted her to try it out as I had enjoyed my previous dining experiences here so much. The ambiance is also very relaxing and I like how the sunlight streams in through the windows. The food didn't disappoint. BFF had the tenderloin tapa while I had the French toast fondue. I went to this place based on Yelp reviews and also it was different from my typical IHOP breakfast when I'm here in Makati. I chose a booth next to the window but unfortunate it was close to the bug zapper and every time it would zap a bug I feared it might end up near my food, I am exaggerating a little but it's what goes through my mind. There menu is printed newspaper style which is different from your typical laminated menu which happens to be a nice touch. The sausage skillet looked juicy and good on the menu unfortunately that that glisten in he picture is by tremendous amount of oil they use. My potatoes and sausage were baptized in oil! Prior to taking any bite I needed to dab in on the napkin. I eventually transferred all the food to another plate. I ordered a sunny side egg separately to complete the meal. Some pieces of the English bangers and chorizo was quite difficult to eat maybe because they were over cooked a tad. The dish overall was ok but I will not order it again. All these all day breakfast dining places have been mushrooming around the metro. Early Bird Breakfast Club was actually one of the first of its kind to arrive here in Manila. I myself is a fan of anything breakfast. Not only the food that's typically eaten during breakfast but the whole concept of eat in the morning like a King type of thing. Taking breakfast is so very important to me that's why I especially appreciate restaurants like these. The vibe and ambiance of the restaurant is very homey with very clean interiors, predominantly white with pastel colors. Setting aside the ambiance, let's talk about the food! Early Bird Breakfast Club is popularly known for their yin and yang champorado and I kid you now when I say that it actually lives up to the hype! Its good and so perfect with dried fish! Although their selections are more on the expensive side for what they offer, this would still be a nice place to go to and chill out with friends for brunch! read more
