Hey all, Just wanted to share what's been happening with my 2019 Hyundai Elantra. A few weeks ago, I took my car into the dealership after it broke down. They told me my engine was seized due to rod bearing failure-- at 88k miles, which, as many of you know, is exactly the issue that's been recalled or covered under Hyundai's extended warranty for this model/year. Same exact engine that's been having issues (2.0 NU MPI) The dealership said they were missing maintenance records and asked me to provide them. Luckily, I've always taken care of my car and changed the oil and did filters/rotations and the works. I was able to provide dates of ALL oil changes I completed that the car was being properly maintained during those times. Despite all that, Hyundai still denied the claim, saying it was due to "excessive neglect"--which is just ridiculous. I met every requirement and provided clear documentation. When I called Hyundai Corporate to understand what they meant by "excessive neglect," they refused to elaborate and told me the case is closed with no option to appeal. Here's what I've done so far: Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Filed with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) - someone has already been assigned to my case and will be visiting the dealership soon. Hyundai pretty much told us it's not their issue and we are screwed. Even though they have KNOWN issues with the same year/model/engine. I would never recommend getting a Hyundai, the engine in my car seized at 88k miles with identical issues that recalls are known for but they wouldn't even admit to it and kept saying "it's out of warranty". Please be aware and avoid buying a Hyundai at all costs. Horrible experience but it shed light to how crappy of a company they are and how much they don't care about their long time customers. read more

Drove to the dealership 4/25 to look at a 2026 Hyundai Ionic 5. Was told by a male salesperson that they didn't have any (there were several listed on their website as available which is why we drove over). He proceeded to tell us that none of the Hyundai dealerships in the valley had any and had not received any for several weeks and did not know when any would be received. Several lies we later found out soon after leaving the dealership as at least 2 dealerships in the East Valley had 5-10 Ionic 5's on there lot with several more expected soon. If you don't have any, don't list that you do. We ran into the same situation with their Toyota location when we were purchasing our 2020 Rav4 Hybrid. Their website stated they had several in stock, however when we arrived, they had none and they tried hard to convince us to buy something else instead. They are very misleading. read more

The service department here provided the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The employees behind the service desk acted like they hated their jobs and resented anyone who came in needing assistance. Their responses were rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily snarky. We came in on a Wednesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. to have a recall addressed. I was told to go inside to make an appointment, so I walked in and asked one of the service advisors who could help me. Caleb said he could. He asked what I needed, and I explained that I had received a recall notice. He then asked, "Do you need an appointment for that?" Since I wasn't familiar with their process, I replied, "Whatever your normal process is to get the recall taken care of is fine with me." Instead of explaining the process, Caleb repeated the question in a combative tone: "So, do you need an appointment? It's a yes-or-no question." I was genuinely confused because the entire reason I had come inside was to make an appointment after being directed to do so. Rather than clarifying what he meant, he simply repeated the question as if I should already know the answer. At that point, Chris, who was sitting next to him, stepped in and explained that they were done taking vehicles for the day, but if I left my car, they could work on it the following day. That was perfectly acceptable to me, so I asked whether they offered a shuttle service. Chris said they did not. By then it was around 4:00 p.m., so I asked what time the service department closed each day. Instead of simply answering "5:00 p.m.," Chris gave me a lecture about how the technicians all have families to go home to, which is why they stop working at 5. I wasn't questioning why they closed at that time--I was simply asking what their hours were. At that point, I had seen enough. I don't normally bring my Hyundai to this dealership for service, and after this experience I'm glad I haven't. The independent shops I've used have treated me with far more courtesy and professionalism than I received here. For anyone considering bringing their vehicle to SanTan Hyundai for service, this was my experience: the service advisors did not make me feel welcome or valued as a customer. There is no shuttle service, and the overall attitude made it feel like they were doing me a favor rather than providing customer service. I understand that service departments get busy, but there's no excuse for treating customers with disrespect. I won't be returning, and I would encourage others to consider that before choosing this service department. read more

SERVICE WITH A SMILE I had my change oil light come on the dashboard of my 2023 Hyundai Tucson PHEV so I called Tempe Hyundai where I purchased the car, Horne Hyundai and Scottsdale Hyundai and all were booked out a week or more for an oil change and service. I purchased my car on November 2023 and my car has 6500 miles. I had an appointment in Chandler that was 1.4 miles from San Tan Hyundai so I figured I would drive by and ask about when I actually needed to change the oil. They said they recommend an oil change at 7,000 miles where the others had told me 1 year or 10,000 miles. Normally I do oil changes every 6 months. Since we are driving to Los Angeles in a few days I figured I wanted to do an oil change before we left. John the Express Service Writer at San Tan Hyundai asked me if I wanted to have my car serviced today and I asked him how long it would take. He told me 45 minutes to an hour. WOW! That was a far throw from a few weeks out. So I said go ahead. John escorted us to the waiting area and showed us all the amenities while we waited for our vehicle to be serviced. The waiting area was clean and not overly noisy. As promised my car was done in one hour. I will return to this dealership next time for my service needs. read more

Our Hyundai Palisade's AC stopped blowing cold air--in the hottest months of the year. When I first called the service department, they transferred me to someone's voicemail who didn't call back until the next day. By that point, I had already called again and arranged to drop the car off overnight. Late Monday, they told me the AC clutch had failed and the entire compressor needed to be replaced. I was quoted a part arrival estimate ranging from just a few days to October! Our service advisor, Javier, was unhelpful from the start. My husband took it upon himself to call around and found the part at Hyundai Cottonwood--$60 cheaper. Despite this, Earnhardt Hyundai charged us full price plus an extra $100 to "get the part." On top of that, there was a $45 shop service fee. The total bill came to $1,233.21--for a car that's barely 5 years old! At pickup, Javier was rude. When I asked to speak to his manager, he laughed and said "Larry's the one who told me to charge you the extra $100." I gave a 0 satisfaction rating, and a few days later my husband got a text from Larry saying, "Hope you enjoyed our service." My husband replied that we didn't--and of course, we got no response. This dealership showed zero concern for customer satisfaction, overcharged for parts, and dismissed my concerns. We will never go back--do yourself a favor and stay far away from Earnhardt Hyundai. read more

I purchased a 2024 Elantra from this location last August and have been extremely disappointed with the service department. The vehicle has under 5,000 miles, yet I've already had multiple issues with both the car and the quality of service provided. When the weather warmed up, the front camera for the lane assist system stopped working due to heat. I went in for a warranty replacement, but the process required two visits because the part had to be ordered. The advisor also gave inaccurate wait times, which left me wasting an entire day. To make things worse, an employee questioned my brother about his disability placard simply because of his age. That interaction was inappropriate and unacceptable. My second experience hasn't been any better. Before going in for an oil change, I checked under the hood and found the coolant overflow tank completely empty. I informed the advisor, was given a loaner, and was later told there were no leaks or issues. If that's the case, it raises serious concerns about how previous services were performed and why such a basic issue wasn't caught. Even after mentioning this, I was asked to leave the car overnight again for another review. Overall, the consistent lack of attention, professionalism, and respect has been frustrating. My initial experience was unacceptable; however, the Service Manager, Rick Enriquez, subsequently contacted me, listened to my concerns, and arranged for me to bring my vehicle back in so they could take care of my issues. When I arrived, Rick greeted me and was very understanding and professional. He arranged for a loaner car for me and assured me they would fix my issues. When I picked my vehicle up, all of the issues had been resolved. I want to compliment Rick and Larry (Service Department Director) for their sincerity, concern and professionalism when dealing with me. I scheduled service on their website and took a 5pm appointment. I got there early at 430pm and the service advisor asked if I was leaving my vehicle. I told him no. Another service advisor came over and said all their mechanics leave at 5pm. Why would they let me schedule a 5pm appointment. I called their service dept after I left and they said it's a flaw in their online system. Ok. As soon as you saw a 5pm appointment why didn't someone call or email me that I'd have to leave the vehicle? Lousy lousy customer service. read more

When I showed up, the vehicle was not at all as the salesman had explained it to be. He said it was very clean like a new car. I knew that the vehicle had been into an accident and had been repaired, but that was at the front of the vehicle When I opened up the trunk. There was multiple cracked plastic in the back and he said oh I didn't know about this yet. I had asked him to walk through and make sure that the vehicle was there and to take pictures of anything that was damaged. It was an hour and 20 minutes For me to drive out there. Wow! I have to update my review Amazing service! Larry Donahue is absolutely fantastic. He went above and beyond for me. I originally came in to get my car serviced and needed a canister closed valve replaced. It was apparently fixed and my check engine light was off when I drove off with it, but then 16 hours later it came back on. I was livid since I had just spent over $1000 and $50 a day on a rental from them. I emailed Larry, the part manager, about this on Thanksgiving day not expecting a reply because it was a holiday (and that's completely okay! I figured I'd hear from him the next day). Larry called me within an hour of sending my email. He said he'd meet me at the dealership with a rental car right now (no charge for the rental). I was like "wow! He's doing this on Thanksgiving!". He literally met me 20 mins after the phone call and gave us a nice Tucson to bring to Prescott the next day. He was super nice and professional. The next day my husband and I were in Prescott and Larry called me about 3 hours after the dealership opened and said that the canister closed valve had a crack in it and they replaced it at no charge. Larry even offered to drive my car up to Prescott for me to return it! That is amazing! I declined and said we'd be back in the valley tomorrow (Saturday) and he said he'd come drop it off then. Carmine at Gearbox went above and beyond by making some calls to find out that my tranny was still under warranty even at 90,000+ miles, found the closest dealership and arranged for my car to be worked on. Appointment made a month out, arrived at dealership and they stated that I had to leave my vehicle with them for 24-48 hours due to a diagnostic inspection! So why was my appointment @ 9am for, just to drop off the vehicle???? I have a broken windshield and all it needs is a recalibration of the front camera in order to get the window techs work on my car. Guess I won't be getting my window fixed soon and never the less bringing my car to this dealership as well. Guess the appointments are just to drop off vehicles which is so inconvenient. Sarah the receptionist advised me to get my insurance involved and rent a car, that's all she can do in that aspect! GOOD EXPERIENCE (Internet Purchase) We bought thru Amazon, so it was preset price, I paid cash. We paid more or less what was posted on Earnhardt websites, but Amazon had a limited time offer for $2300 gift cards that made for a good price overall. PRO ++No haggle price from Amazon, that eliminated price for the dealer adds (No Bull Protection Package, that consist of window tint and door edge protection film). These we pre-installed and came with the car, but I was not charged. ++Trade in price calculated by Amazon was much better than Edmonds, KBB, and Carvana. The price I was given was only slightly better than Truecar, Consumer Reports, JD Power. ++Logan from sales was nice. ++Amazon allows you to include test drive, but it seems more exception than rule. Dealer had no issue with test drive. CON --Amazon method was confusing, I was given the price & trade-in value instantly. But I was told they send written documents in a day, but it took two days. --I was given no instruction on how to make payment (I was cash buyer). It was not in written documents, I contacted dealer direct and was told they accept any payment, including personal check. Nice, I was hoping to avoid certified check (takes 2 days from my bank), or debit card limit increase (3 day approval from bank), or bank wire (which takes 8-36 hours, and must execute in advance). Next day Amazon sent notice the said I must pay by certified check. --Slow, In the end, I need to reschedule 2 times (due to poor instructions on payment methods), thus ordered car on Sunday, picked up on Friday. --Finance department was slow waited a 1/2 hour just to sign documents (the same that I already signed in advance). --Interfacing thru Amazon was sluggish, (as we could only schedule thru Amazon), as need call Amazon and then they call dealer. --Amazon deal cannot be altered (change/add owners, switch cars). read more
