I had some problems with suspension that I had replaced less than 2 years prior. Basic services are comparable to other shops in the area in terms of price and value. I've been taking my car to Spectrum for a good few years now and had always recommended them to friends. I've always felt they up charged or added additional costs by the time I got the final bill but I paid it, who am I argue when I know nothing about cars and they obviously know this. I continued to use them because I feel like every mechanic is the same they were at least pretty quick to get the job done and I based it primarily on convenience to get to work and kids to school. This time is the last for sure! I took my car in for an intermittent check engine light and one random episode of my car hesitating to drive and shaking. My car was driving perfectly fine and no warning lights on when I dropped it off. They called me with the quote of $1000 for new spark plugs. They couldn't find anything else wrong with it. Agreed to the work, job completed. I picked it up at the end of the day, drove 10 mins home and a very loud noise started, coming from the engine. Sounded like my engine was gonna fall out (yes a very lament description) I immediately messaged them because the shop was closed at this point. I returned to the shop the next morning. Simply started the car just to have the receptionist listen to the noise, he had no idea what it could be but they'd look into it. I get a call a short while later and said I need a whole new engine. I was in shock and extremely upset. How can I drop my car off and get it back in an undrivable condition. All they could say is that it's not their fault, it was a coincidence and it's time to shop for a new car. Are you kidding me?! Now I have a broken down car in my front yard after having it "repaired" at Spectrum. And yes EVERYONE I talk to knows about this situation and will never go there. Just like everyone else with a bad review, they will tell "their side of the story". Go ahead blame it on the high miles of the vehicle. MANY cars have high miles, it is not outrageous to drive a car with high mileage. What is outrageous is to drop off a car to a mechanic and get it back in worse condition than when you started. And have them justify the $1000 that I spent the day prior was warranted. The receptionists must make a pretty penny scamming people when they so easily repeat "I guess it's time to go car shopping". I can't thank you guys enough for exhausting my finances and screwing me over. You really give mechanics a bad name with living up to the reputation of taking advantage of female customers. I called in a few days prior to wanting to come in and thankfully they were able to accommodate a drop off. I needed an oil change and tire rotation, they also did a whole car review. I really appreciate their text message system that allows me to review what they're recommending now and in the future. I also really enjoy that you can opt right then and there to approve or deny a service. It also has prices estimates. At the end of the service the price estimates were the same as the charges (not sure if it would ever vary or if they would call before if it was to be more) I appreciate the pictures they take too! Pricing seems to be fair and comparable. The service was excellent. Very approachable and patient as I had questions and concerns since I'm not familiar with car stuff. It's easy enough to find, squeezed between the sonic and gas station. You could probably wander around and sit other places if you needed to wait for your car. Brought in my Audi for a diagnostic on an oil leak. It was gonna be an engine out service so they recommended another Euro shop. Here's where these guys won over future business. Cause they weren't gonna perform the service, no charge for the diagnostic. Spectrum recently offered a free A/C check. I made an appointment and the classic "my car is making a funny noise" complaint was addressed out. After the mechanic checked my A/C (running fine) Mike took me out to my car to listen and spent time explaining what all was going on in the engine and dashboard that could be what I'm hearing. Found these guys through Yelps request a quote feature, and they were really responsive to the repair I needed with my truck. They were really transparent in their quote, and although it took me a while to get around to saving up for the oil pan repair, I eventually scheduled the time to take it in. Upon walking in to drop off my truck, it was apparent how popular they were as there were many folks in line already at 7:30am. While the repair was done yesterday, I have confidence that they did a great job, and my truck will no longer leak oil and leave a giant puddle in my driveway. Michael, Gabe, and Justin bent over backwards to make sure everything was right and even provided a loaner car while they diagnosed the issue(s). My car ended up having some pretty annoying electrical issues that took a couple of days to diagnose, they kept me updated during every step of the way. Full run down review based on an experience as a young queer person. Female friendly fs, no bullshit auto shop with kind staff. Asked about pricing on the yelp app, responded to me by the next business day. Called in, was given patience and respect. Same thing applied when I came in. Asked me basic questions about my mustang and I provided them with the information I had. My intake manifold was stuck open and I needed it fixed. Not something I could do on my own as it could've been many things causing the issue. I was pretty confident it was going to be a disconnected vacuum line or carbon build up. Mike was straight forward and communicated with me a lot throughout the process. Was going to ask for pictures to not get fucked over, no need Mike showed me the broken part itself. Deteriorating bushings. Another shop might've told me I needed a whole new manifold, these people were honest. I'm familiar with mechanic prices and my budget was 500$. I was there for around four hours 12:15- 3:55pm. I spent 400$ and my part was 15-20$. You do the math. -yes they have a waiting room -free coffee and water and it looked clean - accessible bathroom and walkway. There is no bar in the bathroom or toilet seat covers but was clean and had soap. -service window so you can check out your car while you're waiting. I had to go to work and left my car, i quickly realized i lost my water bottle, assuming i left it in the uber :( I would be at work past there closing hours. Mike said he would text me when my car was finished. Gave my payment info over the phone and returned for my car at 6:40 with my keys in a lock box on my windshield. I should've asked bout it cuz I struggled with it for longer then I'd like to admit. You open it like store bought cookies. Put in your code and then turn the knob at the top (if the code is correct) and then pull on it (the knob) for your key. Car drove like how I remembered before the lack of air pressure and there was MY WATER BOTTLE in the passenger seat with the receipt!! Would support this place again, they seemed to be paid well as everyone was in a good mood and I heard laughter from the waiting room. WOMEN BEWARE. I took my older car to Spectrum because it was running louder than it should be. I had been told elsewhere that it needed new motor mounts. I was given a verbal quote on the phone from Spectrum that new motor mounts would run $1100. So brought the car in and asked them to look it over to double check that is was in fact the motor mounts that needed replacing. I then received a quote for $5400 to fix the car. That's twice what the car is worth. They cited all the leaks going on which were more urgent than the mounts. But the price on the new estimate for just the motor mounts was now $2000. I can see by the other reviews here on this company that the manager will come back and explain to me how I'm wrong and they did everything by the book. So I'll thank you in advance for that and say it's not necessary because here's the bottom line: I took my car to a different mechanic who found one hose that had come loose, so he reattached it and that solved ALL the problems. It cost me $100 for his time to fix what you were going to charge $5400 to fix. I've had my cars serviced at Spectum many times in the past, but my husband had always brought them in. Now that I (female) bring it in, now you want to overcharge me by an astronomical amount. It's not only uncalled for, it's unethical. So I write this review so other women will know how you conduct business. read more

So happy I went here. I needed an oil change and an engine light glowing on an old, not so well taken care of, college students 2011 Jeep with 97k on it. They ran a diagnostic, made a recommendation and fixed the issue. No excessive diagnostic fees or surprise fixes that needed to be taken care of on it. Unbelievable. My F150 low oil pressure warning came on, fortunately I was close to and limped home. Got a "free" tow from (and shout out to) AAA because I'm within 5 miles of Spectrum. Was sweating anything up to major engine repairs, so I was relieved when they called and said there was a hole in the oil filter. When I got there after just an oil change, they confirmed there are apparently no other issues. Unbelievable, right? Wait. I expected (and was very happy) to pay their diagnostic fee and for an oil change. Michael wouldn't take my money, saying they keep filters in bulk and just waved when I pointed out the diagnostic fee. Now that really is unbelievable. I thought my engine might need replaced, and this whole saga only cost me the Uber to pick up the truck. Michael just said to keep them in mind when I have a problem with a vehicle, and you can believe that I will. read more

Got a $65 diagnostic due to my radiator fan not turning on at random times causing the car to overheat and making the AC blow warmer. Brought my car in 30 mins later I get a call that the problem is the AC compressor that would be "either $1000 or $1900 to fix". Could not tell me why it was overheating which was the only reason I took the vehicle in in the first place. Only said that we know the compressor is bad because it's blowing the same temperature as the temp outside. Took car to two other places that informed me that the compressor was fine and didn't need to be replaced. Clearly not the same temp as outside. Wasted 65 dollars to say the least. read more

Our family has been using Spectrum for many years. We have gone through several cars with them, and they have always been professional and honest in what is wrong with the car, and a fair cost in fixing what is wrong. I am taking the time to write a review this time around because we recently purchased a 10-year-old car for my son. Even though we trusted where we had bought the car, we wanted to have someone look at the car and make an assessment as well. We dropped it by Spectrum, and they did a full work up on the car gave us honest answers on what might go wrong in the future and when my husband went to pay, they stated "no charge." Michael stated that we have been loyal customers for a long time and just to come by when oil changes are due. You do not run across this often in this day and age and I want to acknowledge and appreciate the gesture.
