The service was OK, and badly needed when we relocated a number of times for jobs, including some stints in temporary housing. What we didn't anticipate, however, was what would happen years after we cancelled our service with Earth Class Mail: Identity Theft. It seems that instead of shredding our old undelivered mail, they just threw it away, or maybe they just gave it to anyone who walked in. After a couple of years, some criminal in the San Francisco area has been using our names, SS#s and Earth Class Mail's address to sign themselves up for credit cards, use our Fedex account number, etc. This service seemed like a good idea at the time, but the questionable handling of private information leaves us feeling that this was the worst decision we ever made. If you want your information to remain private, just have the USPS forward your mail for you, and save yourself a lot of hassle. read more

BEWARE OF CREEPING FEES! Earth Class Mail has consistently increased their fees since I came on board with them in 2007. Several of my friends stopped using them due to these fee increases. Recently they DOUBLED their mail storage fees across the board. This is a BIG part of every customer's monthly fees. It's also $1.50 to open any letter... Pricing is confusing. I was charged for months on end for a check deposit service I wasn't using. When I signed up for check deposit I thought it was included in my monthly fee because I had seen it advertised on the website. A few months later, I realize that I've been charged $30/mo for a service I only used once. When I called support, they only wanted to refund me for one month of the service, even though I only used this service *once.* Since I requested a refund I haven't heard back for over 3 weeks. Terrible experience, don't be fooled about 'local' address. Our mail address in NC is forwarded to Washington state - and the average delay is 7-10 business days. No scans on weekends either. if you are relying on payments coming through for cash flow this is NOT the service for you. When a check arrives and is scanned it can be 48 hours before the deposit actually get's mailed to your bank ($20 to 'expedite' doesn't mean that day....). The customer service answers are terribly slow (48 hours to tell me my scan I asked about was done - a day later than we needed it. OH and they just raised prices so for $150 a month I could use a local PO box and hire someone to get the mail for me! read more

Very expensive, the charges can really add up. But, they are still a better choice than the other PMB alternatives.

This service is great. We used it for our mail while we were living in China. They basically scan your mail and then you can look at the envelopes and decide what you want to do with it. Only some of the mail needs to be opened. You can select a group of letters and get them forwarded to somebody - like a friend to deposit your checks. We set our account up in 2011, so I have no idea what's changed since then. When I heard about them keeping your mail after you cancel the service I was a little taken back, but now that we're actually closing our account there's nothing going there anyway. We typically paid about $60 a month which included the address we used and scanning of the content of envelopes that we wanted to see. More recently I've been picking up mail and the folks working there are pretty cool also. I'd like to note the life savingness of this service. I broke my screen on my phone while living in China. I discovered that the form factor of the exact same model of my phone was different in China because they had the Korean version and I had the American version. So I could not get the correct parts for my phone there. I ordered the part and had it shipped to my SF address, then had them forward the package to me in China. Then took the part to the place and paid $8 to have it fixed. It was awesome!! Yes, you pay for the use of the addresses you choose. Yes, you pay to get your mail scanned-the inside of envelopes. Yes, you pay if you never deal with your physical mail (storage fees). But it's not that much considering the access you have to everything via web and mobile apps. read more

I'm looking into cancelling my ECM subscription and found out they will charge you $50 just for cancelling. Really, who does that? I've been using ECM service for 10 years and their price keeps going up and there was no mention at the time I joined of a $50 cancellation fee. Beware, before you sign-up they'll take your money on the way and if you try to get out. read more

the user interface is difficult and confusing despite they keep making upgrades to the system. they charge you a lot and constantly yearly increase it to be even more expensive their customer service has gone from bad to worse, now its only email before was phone, and it takes days to get a response back they try to lock you into a contract, i've been promised my contract signed by them three times and still no response. read more

I have used Earth Class Mail for 5.5 years while living in Sydney and love their service. the same guy has been working there and recognizes me and takes care of me every time I'm in the store. They are trustworthy and take care of my mail and I've never had any problems with losing any piece of mail that has come through. Best service in managing my mail. read more

It sounds great in theory, until the company fails to execute. The "director of customer success" never got back to me about how much it would cost to pick up my mail in person despite multiple emails. apparently, there's a huge fee to pick up your own mail if your mail isn't originally delivered to the NYC address yet simply forwarded. regardless. you would think that if you used your own transportation and your own body to pick something up there would be no fee. not so much. I ended up shredding the original versions of my checks because it would have been too costly to ship out or pick up my mail. basically the PO boxes are extremely inefficient because the mail is forwarded from somewhere like Boston to New York and it's often delayed. Scans were often sloppy and they even scanned checks without scanning both sides...sometimes the scans were illegible. it was never clear that they actually charged you for storage of items, and the fees overall are ridiculous and unnecessary. like one other reviewer, i feel like my mail was being held hostage when I could have simply picked it up rather than pay high fees to have my items shipped out. I think the whole paper mail system, including USPS and ECM, is flawed and I just need to go completely digital at this point. I have had an account with Earth Class Mail for the past 18 months with a virtual street address in Miami. The total cost of all fees and services amounts to about $180 a month. That would be expensive for just personal mail, but it is a godsend for me and my business. That amount includes receiving and scanning all my business mail and check payments (a considerable number), and then depositing the payments to my business bank account. This saves a huge amount of time and helps free me from needing physical access to my office, bank, and the post office so I can continue my work from anywhere in the world with a solid internet connection. I've contacted customer service a few times along the way, and they are remarkably fast, personable, and effective in resolving problems both by phone and email. The only drawback is the lag between the time a client sends a check and when it is actually received and deposited by Earth Class Mail. Instead of the usual two to three days by snail mail, it takes several more days for the mail to be forwarded to another Earth Class Mail location where it is processed. This is the best option for me since I need a local address, but I recommend choosing one of the Earth Class Mail locations where they process mail on-site if a local address is not important to you or if you happen to be lucky enough to be near one of those locations (they are in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Oregon). I find Earth Class Mail extremely reliable and trustworthy, which, of course, is absolutely essential for a mail and check deposit service. There is nothing I can even think of that I want changed or improved, except to process mail at the Miami location or overnight it to New York. Otherwise, all I ask is that they keep up the good work. I gladly give it five out of five stars. read more

Terrible. They do not have a working phone number. They take 2 days to reply by email and so it takes two weeks to have a conversation and resolve any problems. It will take at least 2 months to setup account initially. This is not practical. Misrepresented. read more

I had a very difficult time getting set up with this service. I called before I tried the service to ask how long it would take to set up. I was told a couple days. My application was not even looked at for five days. I had to call to get attention. Then they need a lot more than they note on their website. They even asked me to send them financial statements. I finally got very frustrated because what I sent was never enough. I asked them to cancel my service but they insisted on keeping my monthly payment even though I NEVER used the service. I'm a newer customer (just over a year now) and I love the service. I signed up just as there was a big transition going on in pricing etc. and its a predictable bill now. Using it to collect, store and forward personal documents is pretty good, but it really shines if you have to manage mail for a business. read more

Shocking service, you cant collect you mail on the same day and you are lucky if they don't lose your mail before you are able to collect it. Any positive reviews could be FAKE!!
