I especially wanted to shout out Hernan for my navel piercing. He did a phenomenal job. He was communicative and completely open to my requests. It's been about three days now, and I'm honestly surprised by how little soreness and discomfort I've had. I'm a bigger guy with a stomach, so I was a little concerned about how a navel piercing would feel, especially since it's a high movement area. But after the first 12 hours, there is very little soreness, and I'm already noticing less discomfort when I move. I think a lot of that has to do with Hernan's skill and attention to placement. He checked the placement while I was standing, sitting, and laying down to see how my stomach and navel moved and sat in each position. That level of care really stood out to me and should be standard but isn't everywhere which is why I always go here. For any plus size person wondering if a navel piercing is possible or will heal well, it definitely will! It's more about your individual anatomy than your size, but having a knowledgeable piercer who understands anatomy of all sizes makes a huge difference. Everyone here is great. To state the obvious: Kirk is an incredible artist -- originally a painter recruited to become a tattooist -- who can execute on any style you wish with flying colors. I wanted simple scribe on my neck and apparently traditional tattoo artists only do visible tattoos if you have more... and I have five. Sure that's fine, but with that came a mini lecture about what I'm deciding to put on my body. Telling me to wait a week without asking how long this has been on my mind. It went into as far as telling to consider how I'm profiled in society because of a neck tattoo. I'm a Black Queer Man living in America. Although well intended, I don't need someone at the peek of the social totem pole telling me about being "profiled" in this country. Again, really don't have an issue with refusing to do the service. I know it was well intended. But I don't need a tone deaf conversation when I'm calling to get a quote on a tattoo.
