I got one of my favorite tattoos here. However, when I called to get another tattoo quoted, they said they wouldn't tattoo me. I wanted simple scribe on my neck and apparently traditional tattoo artists only do visible tattoos if you have more... and I have five. Sure that's fine, but with that came a mini lecture about what I'm deciding to put on my body. Telling me to wait a week without asking how long this has been on my mind. It went into as far as telling to consider how I'm profiled in society because of a neck tattoo. I'm a Black Queer Man living in America. Although well intended, I don't need someone at the peek of the social totem pole telling me about being "profiled" in this country. Again, really don't have an issue with refusing to do the service. I know it was well intended. But I don't need a tone deaf conversation when I'm calling to get a quote on a tattoo. read more

I'd been wanting to get Magritte's Hegel's Holiday for a while and now that I'm 18 I went in today for it! No appointment, I called around 1 and was told they'd be free in a couple of hours. I went in around three and was immediately put at ease by the casual manner and cleanliness. I showed Noah my design and told him approximately how big and where I wanted it, and he sketched it up immediately and it looked AWESOME. Throughout the whole time, from applying the stencil to the actual tattooing it was very relaxed, he talked to me and my friend to put us at ease and explain what he was doing. Worked with Bugs on a Phoenix tattoo that I had wanted for years. It took me that long to find an artist with the style I was going for. It was a long time in the works so I was super nervous. He recommended body placement and showed me some ideas he had. We agreed on a final idea and I left more excited than I had entered! It took months and several different sittings, but Bugs was patient and the phoenix he gave me is my pride and joy. I love the extra splashes of color he added up on my shoulder. Found myself at Tattoos Deluxe once again! Love the guys that work here. I came in this time not really knowing exactly what i was looking for- just knew i wanted a garlic somehow. With him driving me in the right direction, we landed on the correct spot, and i left there with my newest favorite tattoo on the forearm. I LOVE this tattoo!! It is my 4th tattoo by Chris. My girlfriend also recently got her calf done by him..a full back calf piece of a decorative elephant, based on another artists work. Chris's attention to detail in this piece is just truly amazing. I got a cross on the side of my wrist by Dave and it was horrible! I'm actually super sad about this because it's on my body forever and it's something I've been wanting for a long time, it brought tears to my eyes when I saw the way it was healing, it even looked a little crooked initially but I validated with maybe it was just like that because my wrist was twisted or something. This tattoo was meant to be very thin and dainty with fine lines and then as weeks went on it began to scab and it widen at the top of the cross and parts of the horizontal part of the cross as well and remained thin towards the bottom. This is my second tattoo and my other one that I got somewhere else did not heal that way! I'm super upset and now I have to think of a cover up which I don't even really want because I wanted a very low profile tattoo on my wrist since I'm a teacher! Dave is terrible, this shop should really reconsider if he should remain a artist here! read more

While it is probably a good place, DO NOT COME FOR WHITE INK TATTOOS!!! I got my tattoo done by Cbass and he did not know how to give a white ink tattoo. He used a stencil (you are not supposed to) and the stencil ink leaked into the tattoo ink and left my "white ink tattoo" a blotchy blue and grey. It was a disaster. It also didn't heal right and ended up being raised. I had to get the tattoo covered at a different place. He also wouldn't do the tattoo cover up for free, but he was going to charge me full price for the small tattoo again. I've also seen my ex boyfriends tattoos from this place the black is more grey and the lines are sloppy. The color is nice, but it's not worth spending any money to screw up your tattoo. I got my next three tattoos (and the cover up) at a place in north Hollywood, electric pen tattoo, by Edge. He since left. That place knows how to give a white ink tattoo (free draw with a highlighter so ink stays pure!) and all the tattoos came out great. Unless you want to spend money on a bad tattoo, stay away from Tattoos Deluxe. read more

I found out about this place via Meetup and wow, I love this place! I gave them two designs that I wanted, one each on the back of my knees and they came out perfect! Chris is super friendly, professional, and hard working, he made the time go by like a breeze, I felt I should stay there longer and get more tattoos! Greg James is the man. About midway through a colorful sleeve with him and it's mesmerizing to watch a true craftsman such as him work. The lines were smooth and healed perfectly. He has a very soft touch and a warm and inviting personality that makes the hours in the chair fly by. His color work is astounding, my arm practically glows in the dark with colorful waves of teal and blue water blending together. It's not a tattoo, it's a piece of art I wear with pride! Everyone in the shop seems pretty down to earth and some good banter and humor tossed around always helps. Was 11:20pm he said his not doing anymore tattos the 4th one he couldn't do it Because it was late and he had to go. On my recent West Coast adventure, my good friend suggested that we get tattooed while we were in Vegas. It sounded like a great idea, but I thought about the tattoos I'd seen on people walking down Fremont Street, and I thought maybe we should wait till we were back in LA, so we could go see Noah together. Noah has done 80% of my tattoo work, give or take. He's done my ribs, both of my feet and calves, about a quarter of my back and another small piece. He does great work! I love going to see him, because he's easy to work with, easy to talk to, and generally a great human being. Since we met back in 2008 or 2007 (!) I've referred dozens of people directly to him, and no one has been let down. He's quick, his hands are light, and he can do anything you want him to do. This visit was no exception! My sweet friend Eden wanted a little rainbow on her finger, and Noah found a way to do it that will wear well. He warned us that finger tattoos and hand tattoos often fade or work their way out of the skin... he wasn't looking to take her money and have her come back looking for touch up work every three weeks. He asked me what I wanted and I showed him Goku's Kanji symbol. He then proceeded by showing me different outlines of the tattoo such as brush strokes, teardrops, sharped edges, etc. He really looked into the design and broke it apart to see what I would most like. After he was done with the tattoo, he gave me much information about taking care of it during the healing process.
