Got my first tattoo with Ozzy. Didn't know what to expect. A little fearful, and a little nervous that it wouldn't be exactly what I envisioned. I think he picked up on that and explained the process. Pulled out all the equipment and went over it and how it works. As he was tattooing me, he kept me preoccupied by telling me stories of himself, his family, and his upbringing. Asking questions about me. Really interesting guy. 10 hours later, voila. The most amazing Tattoo I've ever seen. I can't stop staring at it. Everyone that sees it, comments on the quality of the art and asks who the artist was. Super excited to go back in a couple of days for my second one with Ozzy. Everyone I met at Costello's is super friendly and hospitable. They have me for life. I'll never go anywhere else.
Yoni was great! We came in last minute a little before closing For Valentine's Day/ Friday the 13th flash, he was already closing up and was kind enough to stay late into mine and my husband's flash tattoos. He was very professional and clean and the tattoos came out great! Would definitely return for flash tats!

I had a lot of questions and she answered them all honestly and we got to the perfect design together. Can't wait to go back for my second one! The location was also very clean and neat.
I can't explain just how happy I am with my ink and how amazing this experience was. I reached out last minute and was taken care of no problem. This was an important piece and I wanted to get it on a special day. I got both! Thank you Yanier for my beautiful tribute to my grandson on what would have been his 3rd Birthday. My heart is full!
Update! Avoid this place at all costs. I was sold jewelry that was explicitly advertised as 14k gold and diamonds. After experiencing severe irritation, itching, and a massive headache at the base of my skull, I went to a reputable professional piercer and a jeweler for a second opinion. The jewelry was already bent and warped while still in my ear, and it physically snapped off after removal. The jeweler confirmed the jewelry is NOT 14k gold. It failed a magnet test (real gold is not magnetic), and to make matters worse, the jewelry physically broke apart as soon as it was removed from my ear. The metal post snapped off, proving it is brittle, cheap base metal, not precious metal. This is dangerous consumer fraud and this is on top of unsafe practices by not safely sanitizing the jewelry. I will be reporting them to the CA Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and the LA Department of Public Health. Avoid this place at all costs. Original review. I initially liked my new helix piercing, but after researching professional safety standards, I am extremely concerned about the lack of sterilization at this studio. The piercer took the earring directly from a display case. He even allowed me to 'try it on' my ear to see how it looked before the piercing. After that, he simply set the jewelry down on a napkin and sprayed it with saline solution before inserting it into my fresh piercing. I also have to add that he did not change those gloves or nor did I see him sterilize the tool he's holding to put the earring against my ear. I also have to add that I told Yoni the piercer that I'm new to getting piercings and unsure of the procedures. Saline spray is not a sanitizer; it is salt water. Professional jewelry must be sterilized in an autoclave (high-pressure steam) to kill bacteria and viruses like Hepatitis. Using jewelry that has been handled by others and sitting in a dusty display case--with only a saline rinse--is a major health risk. I now have to seek medical advice and testing to ensure I haven't contracted a bacterial infection or bloodborne pathogen. Please do your research on sterile techniques before coming here. Since I don't know how to respond to you. Thank you for the response. While I appreciate the studio's stated policies, I am writing to clarify what I personally observed during my appointment. Professional standards, including those by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), require that jewelry be sterilized in an autoclave immediately prior to use. During my entire visit, the jewelry was taken directly from a display case, put against my skin "to try on". And who knows how many ears this earring has touched before it was finally put in me. At no point was it placed into a sterilization unit (like a Statim cassette) or run through a cycle in my presence. A saline rinse or wipe-down is a cleaning step, but it is not a medical sterilization process capable of killing bloodborne pathogens. My photos from the visit are timestamped 10 minutes apart. During that entire 10-minute window, the jewelry was being handled, moved in and out of the display case, and held up for me to look at while I was deciding. There was no 'missing' time where a sterilization cycle could have occurred. Jewelry must be sterilized after it is handled and immediately before insertion to be considered sterile. Since my appointment, I have experienced significant itching and irritation at the new site, as well as a flare-up in a month old piercing --symptoms that professional piercers have since advised are consistent with low-grade metal or cross-contamination. My concern isn't about the shop's written rules, but about the lack of execution during my specific procedure. I have since had to seek medical advice and a professional jewelry swap at an APP-certified studio to ensure my safety.
Aya is fantastic! She's extremely talented and so sweet. She was my artist but I saw the way she interacted with someone who wasn't even her client. She was thoughtful and thorough. Highly recommend if you're in the valley or willing to come to Sherman Oaks!
My daughters and I had an amazing same day tattoo experience at Costello Tattoo & Piercing Studio and I cannot say enough great things about it. My tattoo artist, Thelma, was incredibly attentive, patient, and detailed from start to finish. She really listened to what I wanted and brought the vision of our family tattoo to life exactly as we imagined it. The entire process felt calm and professional, and the pain (if I can even call it that ) was minimal to the point that it was almost nonexistent. I was honestly surprised by how comfortable the experience was. My tattoo came out perfectly and looks exactly like the design we discussed. If you are looking for a skilled artist who truly cares about your comfort and delivering quality work, I highly recommend Thelma and Costello Tattoo & Piercing Studio.
This place is amazing and Adi is really good at the work she does! Very professional and very patient and polite. She is an artist with amazing talent and a very good listener and understanding. I had a consultation session with her and she understood the ask. A week later the art was ready and the work started. She worked with me and my wife as to what the placement and the small changes we made. The end result is amazing and I am extremely happy with her work and service.
