Love this place. I had a great experience working with Josh on my tattoo! I had an idea of what I wanted, but I'm not a visual artist. I gave him a raw sketch, he executed it beautifully and was totally patient and helpful during the process. As it healed, I realized I wanted the color lightened and he did it for me at no additional charge! He's fabulous! I'm definitely going back to him the next time I want new ink.

Great collaboration with the artist resulting in an awesome design beyond what I had even imagined! Very clean shop. Appreciated the adherence to health codes in the tattooing process (single use ink cups, artists "gloved up", multi-use components from sealed, sterilized/autoclaved bags, etc)

I had a great experience at Studio City Tattoo, working with Sawooli who is a totally pro artist. I had come in early, the staff was polite and took the time to talk over my design idea before pairing me up with an artist, even got me in the same day! The process from there was good, they made me feel welcome and comfortable. Sawooli drafted a very cool design with a couple variants to pick from. The tattoo process itself was less painful than my prior tattoo at a different studio even with multi colors; honestly not bad at all for the time needed. Pricing was totally fair for the high quality of work. The shop was clean, and organized with a cool pirate vibe. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. It's a solid studio, My Tattoo came out better than my original intentions.

I love this place. I love the vibes. I love the artists. I can't wait to get more work done here. I have worked with 4 tattoo artists before coming here, though none are currently located in SoCal. When I moved back to L.A., I was itching to get my next tattoo and did a lot of research on a good tattoo artist nearby. It ended up being surprisingly hard to find a good tattoo artist in the L.A. area. The tattoo market and culture here is REALLY HIT-OR-MISS right now. Everything seems contaminated or at least impacted by influencer vibes, and there are a lot of tattoo "artists" whom I wouldn't even consider artists (i.e., designers, craftspeople, etc.) and more like decently effective copyists. (Note: I don't mean to judge people who have a very specific design in mind beforehand and want a good technician to tattoo it on their skin. But it seems like there are a lot of folks in the area who are trying to jump on the gold rush of tattoo popularity in L.A. and who have no sense of draftsmanship or design or how particular pieces flow on the client's body, nor any sense of connection to tattooing as a community, culture, or heritage. The latter means a lot to me.) Eventually I stumbled across Studio City Tattoo and specifically Jose Menendez. Based on his IG and portfolio, I knew that he had the style and skill I was hoping for. I shot him a DM with general parameters and my preliminary brief. I'm a visual artist too, albeit not a tattoo artist, so I cited specific genres, artists, and art styles that I resonate with, but the way I work with tattoo artists is I try to give them as much creative freedom as possible, because part of the enjoyment for me is to participate in the nexus of the present moment between the artist and my skin. Jose replied saying he was excited about the project, we set up a vidcon consult, chatted through the concept, and then I showed up later that week to see the stencil and I literally had no notes. I was hyped. We were off to the races. The piece took 4 visits total and it was worth every second and every penny. I cannot talk enough about how grateful I am to Jose for putting this piece of art on me. And he is effing rad. Just a good, good person, and really enjoyable to chat with. You can tell he cares about his work. I've since referred several of my friends to him, and I know of at least one who has already begun a new piece with him. More generally, I enjoyed being in the studio. Every other artist or staff I talked with there was hilarious, kind, and personable. In particular I spent a lot of time talking to Cat, one of the studio's piercers. I don't have piercings--though I am thinking of getting some from her!--but she seems like one of the most passionate and sweetest people I've ever met. I can't recommend this place enough. Super grateful I found them and Jose in particular. A local gem for sure.

Really grateful that I found Studio City Tattoo right when I did! I randomly noticed that the top of my Tragus jewelry piece came off - the ball had fallen off! Pretty sure it came off when I hugged someone and felt a snag happen - yup, luckily it wasn't painful one bit but that's the only time I could recall something even coming close to the ball on my Tragus jewelry piece. Long story short - I called them to see if they would be able to help me get it replaced, and I drove there within 15 minutes and they were able to show me their array of threaded and non-threaded pieces (did I even get that right?), and they were able to assist. Thank goodness! I also saw a few other piercing ideas that I'd love to get in the future so I was so stoked to at least come across this cool tattoo place, and find my piercings needs were met! Great vibes - all were friendly, and I might just come back for another piercing! Metered street parking was easy, no problem!

Getting a tattoo spontaneously happens to all of us but the biggest question is always "where to go?". Anyone finding themselves in this predicament should definitely consider going to Studio City Tattoo. This tattoo shop is located near the intersection of Ventura Blvd/Vineland. You can either park in the plaza next door or it will be metered street parking. Everyone working here is approachable, polite, and knowledgeable with their craft. My wife and I came in spontaneously and Eli was so friendly as he really made this spur of the moment for us special. Eli helped us finalize the design and was just outgoing the entire time we were there. We didn't have to wait long as another artist Saul did my tattoo. Saul was also professional, skilled, and really ensured the placement of my tattoo was where I wanted it to be. Thank you to both Eli and Saul for their hospitality and commitment to detail as the matching tattoos they did for us came out perfect! If the shop is giving "The Goonies" meets "Pirates of the Caribbean" vibes, then you know you're in good hands.

I really love this place! I came here years back for a piercing, and now recently got tattooed. Shark was incredible; professional, friendly and he did a beautiful job. I wasn't even able to explain what I wanted well, and he exceeded my expectations! Also, very friendly staff and a great vibe. Check this place out!

This place is legend and has some of the most talented, honest and kind staff I've ever found in a shop. I see Todd Townsend and with his years of experience and aesthetic eye he helped me level up and add on to my tattoos. I love what he did and his creative mind knowing where to go and what will look best. I'll be getting many more.

I asked for a refund for just the piercing fee and they told me no. Their only solution was to have another piercer redo my piercing. In my CARTILAGE. I said I don't want that much trauma in my cartilage. They said I could come back later and get it re-pierced. I then asked for store credit for my partner to get a tattoo. And they said NO. (What's the difference??????) I would give their customer service ZERO STARS. I cried the whole time I'm talked to them because it's already hard enough for me to stand up for myself. Their service is awful. They have no solution strategies. Horrible business. I left this place in tears twice. Now I'm out 288 dollars because they charge for the front of the earring SEPARATELY from the back. Who charges for half an earring???? OH and it just so happened that *only* earring they had in the shape of a ball (safest to heal in the concave area of my ear) was solid gold. Convenient.

I was actually referred to THS by multiple people so I looked into them and found Endry. His work really impressed me and my boyfriend who was also a tattoo artist back in the day. So I booked an appt to have a very simple roman numeral tattoo done under my collarbone. The booking process was actually very easy and the shop worked with me. There's a $200 minimum and there's a $100 deposit that you Venmo before the appointment is made. I honestly found the booking process super smooth and easy. If you can find it, there's metered parking right in front of the shop which is super convenient. I honestly love the vibe of this place. I probably should've noticed the AI flaw in the stencil, but, as my regular artist pointed out, he definitely should have noticed, especially since he had the original photo. A little miscommunication but oh well. On top of that it's really really light so I'm going to have to have my normal artist fix it and touch it up. I wasn't even going to leave a review because it's partly my fault, and I don't really care that much, but like my normal artist pointed out, he's supposed to notice these kind of things. Then I realized the only reason I don't really care is because it's somewhere not normally visible. If it was on my arm I would be horrified. Other than that, they were cool, the booking process was easy, and reasonably priced. Also the shop was super clean which is important to me so 3-stars
