    [mMEDIUM DIOSCOREA ELEPHANTIPES ("Elephant's Foot")

I recently purchased a medium Dioscorea Elephantipes ("Elephant's Foot") exotic succulent which arrived carefully wrapped and healthy. Dormant, as expected; a fascinating plant --I'm looking forward to when she wakes up and sprouts vines in the Fall!

I always make a point to stop here when I visit Austin. They have a wide, beautiful selection with healthy plants and friendly prices. Walking through the grounds always feels restorative, and the place is much bigger than you would expect. East Austin Succulents is a must-visit for plant lovers.

This nursey has THE most expansive collection of succulents I have EVER seen! - mini sucs, giant sucs, weird sucs, cheap sucs, rare sucs, you name it! Succulents for every budget and taste! We bought the awesome-est lil succulent tree dude, they even potted it for us - and got to choose pretty colored stones to pot it with :) It was a $20 for the pot, $8 for the succulent, and $5 for the potting fee. You can tell the staff REALLY knows their succulents, and are so passionate about caring for these lil guys!

The little oasis in East Austin is an institution for good reason - they have the broadest selection of succulents for the best prices, and the most friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you keep them alive (or non-judgmentally replace them, as I periodically do). I brought my pretty pink cactus (unknowingly spray painted by Home Depot, go figure) looking for some friends, and found the perfect pot from Tillery, neighboring lovelies among EAS greenhouses, then Joaquina potted and packaged it up in the prettiest way, no pokes included! Sad story, my perfect pot tumbled over on the drive home and I made it back slightly after close. Still, Sonia hung late to provide me with more gravel & tips for re-potting & tools to keep my lovelies alive. This team is really wonderful - knows all the ins- and outs- about their plants and passionate about their work & customers too. An absolute joy to visit & learn to cultivate!

Cute succulents and a cute cat pot!

Amazing selection of plants plus some cool garden art (my biggest purchase was a metal horny toad ) plus if you spend over $40 I think it is you get to spin the wheel and I won two mini succulents! I totally needed more plants The staff was also very friendly and easy to ask questions of.

I love this place! I did not know this wonderful place existed but discovered it due to Instagram. Parking is a bit of a challenge so I parked across the street. There are so many options and various sizes. I spent $50 ordering the same amount of plants from Etsy and these are better. Such a great spot.

pots all bought there. top right plant also purchased there.

This place exceeded all my expectations. A huge number of plants, you could probably get lost in their garden. I loved how many small plants they had, with many being under $5. The star of the show for someone who likes to propagate plants was the many small pots they had for very low prices. They look like they have be reused or had mistakes with printing, but that really wasn't a concern for me. I spent about $40 and got a succulent, dirt, and 5 pots. I cannot wait to come back! (Once I have room for more plants...). The person who checked us out was so kind, and as we were leaving I overheard talk of cats. Another worker told me some of their hiding spots, and we did indeed find one. Bathroom isn't attached and a little hard to find, but we were happy they had one.

I picked a combination succulent, a lovely potting bowl, and a stegosaurus accent. Because my purchase was over $40, I was able to spin the wheel for a prize. I received a free additional succulent from the Buddha section and the lady at the counter was happy to add it to my combo. She repotted it for me in my new bowl and added pretty rocks of my choice. The whole experience was very pleasant. My friend and I look forward to returning.

I've probably been coming here for over 5 years and it's grown to be better and better. If you want a super chill knowledgeable staff and the plant choices by the thousands and all the cutest pots and rocks and landscape ornaments you need for your life come here! They're local and just the best all around. For $5 you pick your plants and pots and stones and they assemble for you for a gift or whatever! It's the most unique gifting experience ever. Like mine below. I picked everything they assembled for me.

I love the selection at this nursery, but I tend to come here to window shop because the prices are quite steep.

They have many beautiful plants and they are placed so lovely, it's like walking through a garden. They have a very large parakeet area where they have rescued parakeets. They have a beautiful turtle with pond that is the size of a pool and the turtles are currently having babies! There's herbs, there's perennials, there's annuals. There are Texas native plants. The nursery is surrounded by beautiful large trees. Their shaded plants are shaded under the shade of these beautiful large trees. I truly enjoyed myself. The people who work there are so helpful and kind. I asked lots of questions and they never got tired of answering or smiling. Their prices are medium, you can probably find some herbs and plants for less money, but you get what you pay for here. Their plants are an excellent condition and very well cared for. I bought a Sago palm, a chamomile, and an Italian parsley. I highly recommend you visit!

I thought that it was odd that his dad came with him since he has supposedly been doing this work for over 9 years, but now I know dad was babysitting him. The quote automatically baked in a tip. I asked for clippings to be bagged, beds weeded, etc each time. If everything had been perfect for the price ok, but not for the nonsense with him. There are so many items, first he put a 30 pound bag of Ironite on the base of a single tree, a 30 pound bag of Ironite is $38 + tax so 41.14 after tax down the tube and a tree that will fry and have to be removed. When his father told him that he should not have done that his solution was to water it in vs raking it out to the drip line where it should have been to begin with. Not only did I tell him very specifically how to do it he said "yes, I understand". 9+ years of experience my foot, I should not have had to tell him how to do it to begin with. His excuse for this stunt was because there was scat there, so the tree is about 15 feet tall and the drip line is at about 15 feet so he tried to claim that there was scat at the drip line in an arc for 15 feet across the yard. He would have had to mow over enough scat that he would have had to pick it up before mowing, this would also mean that the racoons would have had to map out the scat in an arc of 15 feet, no way, period. I also went and smelled the clippings, zero scat smell, I also looked for the scat, I found one small amount near the base of the tree, exactly where he should not have been messing around anyway. He put so much Ironite on flowers that it would have fried every single one of them had it not all been picked out and then he tossed some in pots, who puts a bunch of fertilizer directly in plant pots with supposedly 9 years of experience? So not only am I out a bag of Ironite, I now have to water and water and water to abate the burn so yet more money for no reason, not to mention the amount of walking which is a real issue due to being disabled. The only reason to pull this stunt with 9 years of experience is to kill the tree so he had something else to charge me for He apologized, but laughed as he was apologizing, literally like a grinning i----. I also caught him pushing down backwards on the fence gate, interestingly they do fence work; why would anyone push down on a fence gate period other than to create an issue that needs to be fixed? Next, I told him to mow the grass as high as possible and it is absurdly short and I told him not to burn the edges when he edged, all burned. Next there is horseweed in the back and I told him the day before during the quote, which took over an hour of walking him around and I am disabled so every step is painful, to mow it as if it were grass, he texts me and asks if he should mow it, but did not bother texting or asking about the fertilizer and the tree? He told me during the quote that he would hand weed the area around the air conditioners and then told me that he did not weed anything on that side because I told him to not use the weedwhacker around the air conditioners. Next, a very large bed in front where saplings grow, he did zero, other beds grass was left along with saplings Moved chairs were the grass is not even long enough to mow and left them. I told him exactly where to put the compost bin at the curb before he left, nothing at the curb, his excuse "I thought you meant for next time", so he knows I am disabled and leaves it for me to take out when it was literally the last thing that I reminded him to do. I also had to remind him to lock the gate, seriously a disable single female and I need to remind 2 grown men to lock the gate. He also told me he could do other odd jobs during the estimate, he shows up with a dead drill. The quote was $175 for a quarter acre, but I get bagging, hand weeding, etc takes extra time so I agreed. I waited a day before deciding to do the full feedback and this arrogant little snot told me to get another company, as if I would ever use them again, just how dumb does he need to be to think I would ever consider him for use ever again. He is also out another 5 jobs as 5 different neighbors would have used him had I been happy him, which also basically means he is out of the running for a single job in this neighborhood.

And after I got some prices and had some flaky messages, I got the best communication from this father and pop team and family run business.
