This nursey has THE most expansive collection of succulents I have EVER seen! - mini sucs, giant sucs, weird sucs, cheap sucs, rare sucs, you name it! Succulents for every budget and taste! We bought the awesome-est lil succulent tree dude, they even potted it for us - and got to choose pretty colored stones to pot it with :) It was a $20 for the pot, $8 for the succulent, and $5 for the potting fee. The little oasis in East Austin is an institution for good reason - they have the broadest selection of succulents for the best prices, and the most friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you keep them alive (or non-judgmentally replace them, as I periodically do). I brought my pretty pink cactus (unknowingly spray painted by Home Depot, go figure) looking for some friends, and found the perfect pot from Tillery, neighboring lovelies among EAS greenhouses, then Joaquina potted and packaged it up in the prettiest way, no pokes included! Sad story, my perfect pot tumbled over on the drive home and I made it back slightly after close. Still, Sonia hung late to provide me with more gravel & tips for re-potting & tools to keep my lovelies alive. This place exceeded all my expectations. A huge number of plants, you could probably get lost in their garden. I loved how many small plants they had, with many being under $5. The star of the show for someone who likes to propagate plants was the many small pots they had for very low prices. They look like they have be reused or had mistakes with printing, but that really wasn't a concern for me. I spent about $40 and got a succulent, dirt, and 5 pots. I cannot wait to come back! (Once I have room for more plants...). The person who checked us out was so kind, and as we were leaving I overheard talk of cats. Another worker told me some of their hiding spots, and we did indeed find one. Bathroom isn't attached and a little hard to find, but we were happy they had one. read more

I picked a combination succulent, a lovely potting bowl, and a stegosaurus accent. Because my purchase was over $40, I was able to spin the wheel for a prize. I received a free additional succulent from the Buddha section and the lady at the counter was happy to add it to my combo. She repotted it for me in my new bowl and added pretty rocks of my choice. This place is super fun for those looking for unique cacti and succulents that are well potted with a gravel top dressing. They even had boobie cacti and crested San Pedro's. They also have a few Hoyas including the less easily found like the outer variegated acuta and outer variegated kerri. Pricing wise I'd say they're about standard for a nursery with more exotic cacti and succulents, with some being a little bit pricier. But, they do take very good care of everything and their potted plants are good to go vs needing a quick repotting when you get home. I told myself no more plants this fall, but this past visit I found the most adorable variegated queen Victoria compacta for a very reasonable price and couldn't resist. Another pro to this location is I love being able to see their more mature cacti towering everywhere and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Visiting this place during the summer is brutal but worth it if you're into succulents. They have a wide range of species from the most popular ones to exotic ones. They had a nice selection of pottery/planters but the times I went they had more smaller pots in stock. They do however have a lot of larger pots for the yard. What I didn't know until my first visit there is that they provide services to dress up any succulent and pottery purchase/purchases for an extra service price. We paid $15 for ours that included 4 succulents that we purchased at the Succulent Fall Show and Sale a few weeks ago. We loved the fast service but the attention to detail in assembling everything together! Unfortunately they don't accept succulents purchased from other vendors to pot and dress which was disappointing but I get they want to promote their products. I have had the desire to get a snake plant for over a week. After being stuck in stand still traffic on thr I-35, I searched for a nursery and East Side Succulents popped up and I got out of dodge. When I arrived I couldn't figure out how to get in and Lil Jon popped out to tell me they weren't open to the public and online ordering was the way to go. Then he dug deeper and I told him my friend recommended a snake plant as "they aren't easy to kill." Lil Jon realized that only a limited portion of their plants online, then he asked me how much I was looking to spend, I gave him my card and he went in the nursery and came back with a cylinder snake plant also know as sansevieria cylindrica. I come quite often to EAS. Their cacti and succulent products and services are awesome. Great pots that change out every once in a while. They offer crystals, driftwood, soil amendments, the whole shebang! The part that I dislike is that the layout is extremely limiting in movement. You're bound to get stabbed by a cacti at some point. The Hoyas are also extremely overpriced and in extremely poor condition every time. This place is only for cacti and succulents related business. The best thing to do is make an arrangement here. read more

LOVE this place. I always bring out of town guests here. I highly recommend paying the ~$8 to get your plants potted by the talented staff. The fee includes your choice of colored rocks and they artistically add crystals/rocks in the arrangement. If you spend over $40, you get to spin the prize wheel. I ended up with "Buddha's choice" and was able to select a semi-large succulent for free. So many plant and pot options here. Just got back from East Austin Suckulents and I have a few comments. I should have known not venture out of my safe north central Austin neighborhood to the way cool hipster East side; however, I ventured forth. I went to this nursery because someone told me I could get a show stopping cactus for the front of my house. I was ready to spend some money. First thing, if you want to pay $450 for a cactus this is the perfect spot. Once you do find that perfect cactus that you may be willing to pay $450 for it will be marked NOT FOR SALE. I asked about why everything fantastic was NFS and was told that the owner liked keep all the good ones. Next, I asked someone for help on pricing for cactus that had not been. With credit card in my hand, I was told that she would get to me just as soon as she finished what she was doing. She was pricing hundreds of small plants so I left. In conclusion, if you like "I'll get to you when I get to you" service and overpriced but very cool plants that aren't for sale you should definitely visit this place. To be fair if all you need is a couple of $10 succulents you would love the selection. read more

*Our visit was during COVID-19* My S/O and I came here from Houston and I wanted to check this place out before heading home on Sunday. When we walked in, a man told us that the section of the place we were walking towards was closed, but didn't offer to explain which part was open. We found where to go in and looked at all the rows of succulents and selected four arm-fulls of plants. When we walked to the register at the end of the rows (opposite of where we entered), a cashier asked if we had checked-in yet- we hadn't. I told her no and she asked if we registered for an appointment- we hadn't. She was a little snippy and said that appointments were needed so they didn't go over capacity but since we were actually buying stuff that she would make an exception only once- awesome for us. We apologized a few times for not making an appointment- we didn't know better. She also pointed out that there was a whole other section we could shop in- we actually ended up getting more things from out there. When we were ringing up, the same cashier told us to "spin the wheel" where I "won" 2 small succulents of my choice ($2.50/ea value). This was a neat thing to have for customers- I believe you get to spin the wheel if you buy over $40 worth of stuff. They have a great selection of succulents and planters, and even have plants already arranged in planters so if you're not sure what to do yourself, you can buy theirs. All staff members we encountered were snippy, and I feel like there was no clear signage, and no organization or communication about where to walk, or needing an appointment. There WAS a sign that said "Appointments this way" but there was never a sign that said "Appointment ONLY." When I searched on Yelp, nothing was stated about needing an appointment. *After our visit, I went to their actual website and a note popped up about needing an appointment. My suggestion is to update their Yelp, too. I don't know if they updated their Facebook or Instagram- I don't have either of these." read more

I purchased a couple Adenium plants from their online shop. Both plants arrived a day earlier than expected and in good shape. Leaves aren't the happiest but that is to be expected when shipping Adeniums. The plants are larger than I was expecting and this is a pleasant surprise considering the slow growth rate of these plants!!
