Oh my! What an adorable little plant shop. I saw it from the street while driving and just knew I had to go in. They have a nice little selection of greenery in small, medium, and large sizes. The planters are adorable but overpriced. The diffusing oils or whatever smell so amazing when you walk in that you don't want to leave. But you can only circle it so many times so you have to, ha! So what do you do? You have a mini photo shoot on the patio deck. I am indeed fond of Frond. Thanks for the oxygen!

If you love plants. You're going to feel happiness the moment you walk into this store. Currently checking out different plant stores in Austin. This one was definitely cool. I'll be back!

I bought these cute air plants and holders at frond and they are just so unique and cute!

We're talking plants, people. Tall, short, stumpy, abundant, small, you name it - it's there. Not only is the shop over growing with green, it's so adorably curated, too. The shop is set up in such a way, you feel like you're on a hip person's patio or a Pinterest set. Either way, you want everything in there but know you could never make your house look as cute even if you had it all. There's a big selection of pottery and plant holders - wicker and porcelain, that it's pretty overwhelming. So definitely expect to spend some time and money in there. The prices are reasonable, so you can end up going over board as you rack things up, but they're decent enough price points you can typically get least get a pot with your new plant.

Great shop. Everything seemed upfront and honest. Worker had good knowledge of plants.

Perfect contactless pickup, more unique selection than the bigger guys & obsessed with my new plants!

Cute small shop. The selection of plants is small, but they have several unique &/or popular plants available. They supply really cute & modern planters! They're what I'm most excited about. (: The cashier (didn't catch her name) is very passionate & knowledgable about plants & the inventory in the store.

This review is about my online shopping experience which could not have been more pleasant!!! I wanted to send my brother and his soon-to-be husband a little gift to mark what would have been their wedding date. I called to ask about shipping time and the woman on the phone was so nice and helpful. I went ahead and ordered online and it shipped out IMMEDIATELY. Immediately as in, I emailed 10 minutes later asking to attach a card and it had already shipped out haha. I was offering to pay for a card- not only did they not charge me for the card, they sent it out separately and they sent it priority to make sure it would arrive together with the plant. The plant and the card ended up getting there the VERY next day! Best of all? It is so gorgeous and healthy. I'm so glad I went with Frond! It was truly the special gift I wanted it to be. Thank you, Frond!!

This adorable little shop satisfies all of my Jungalow dreams and fantasies. Every time we're in Austin we make a special trip to get my fix. Tons of variety of plants and unique baskets and pots. Great resource for local gift giving, candles and cards and terrariums etc. The sweetest little artsy plant lady, Sara, is always super helpful and knowledgeable about all the plants and has great tips and tricks on how to care for them once you get them home. I bought the prettiest little plant and rose gold pot and a ton of other goodies and they all made it safe and sound all the way back to Colorado on the plane with me and my plants are thriving still. Plant lady is also a good packing lady. A must when in Austin!

We stumbled onto Barton Springs Nursery almost by accident after seeing their showroom on Lamar and…read morerealizing there was an actual nursery a little farther west. Somehow I had never heard of it, despite it having been around for decades. I was not prepared. This is less a traditional nursery and more a beautifully designed place that happens to sell plants. The property is shaded by huge mature oaks, with gravel paths winding through incredibly healthy plants, weathered wood structures, limestone, pottery, little seating areas, a greenhouse, ponds, and thoughtfully placed pockets where you can just sit. Everything feels considered without feeling precious. I kept trying to describe the aesthetic and eventually realized the most accurate reference point is the Animal Crossing island I always intended to create but absolutely never did. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful retail environments I've experienced in Austin. We were only stopping in between errands with our five-year-old and 11-month-old, so we barely scratched the surface and didn't actually purchase anything. Even so, several staff members took time with us. Everyone we encountered was warm, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely happy to talk about plants and the property. The Genus Bar is particularly cool. It isn't just clever branding. You can bring actual plant problems to their horticultural experts for help, and they have equipment on hand to dig into what may be happening with a plant. One gentleman walked us through the space, explained some of what they do there, gave us some history of the nursery, and was completely open to whatever plant questions I wanted to throw at him. There are also a surprising number of things for kids to discover. Turtles, enormous tortoises, an axolotl, ponds and other little bits of wildlife are worked into the property. Our five-year-old loved feeding and watching the turtles and tortoises. One of the staff members caring for the tortoises also made sure we knew not to touch them because of the salmonella risk. How did I make it this far into adulthood without knowing that? Another unexpected detail was the nitro yaupon tea. I initially thought I was being offered cold brew coffee, which was challenged the moment I smelled it. Yaupon is a native holly whose leaves have a long history of being brewed as a caffeinated tea, and the person serving it gave us the whole background while preparing it. It was light, fragrant and really pleasant. Just another small thing that made the visit feel less transactional. The major caveat is price. This is NOT where I would necessarily come for a budget-conscious haul of plants I could easily find elsewhere. The nursery is in Westlake, the products are highly curated, and the pricing reflects the environment and clientele. That said, the plants we saw looked exceptionally healthy, the garden and home goods felt carefully selected, and there appeared to be some more unusual plant options mixed into the broader selection. You're paying for a noticeably different experience. And honestly, the experience is the reason give it five stars. We came in intending to look around for a few minutes and left wishing we'd had considerably more time. I tend to linger in nurseries anyway, but Barton Springs Nursery seems almost specifically engineered to encourage that behavior. Next time we'll come when we're not wedging botanical exploration between chores. Even if it isn't where you buy every plant for your yard, it's worth visiting at least once. We'll absolutely be back.

There's a giant garden gnome out front, plus two resident tortoises, parakeets, a pond with turtles, and even an axolotl inside the gift shop! It's so lovely to walk around here, admire their space, and gather inspiration from the wonderful assortment of plants they have. My cousin buys so many plants here for her home as well as for her business. Happy to support such a wonderful place!

It's the kind of place where you come for a plant and end up staying for the vibes. Think of it as a garden center meets a peaceful mini outdoor museum. Everything is beautifully organized by plant type, making it easy to find what you're looking for...or, more likely, making it easy to get joyfully distracted while you wander. There are cozy benches for daydreaming, koi ponds full of personality, colorful lily pads that pop out and wave at you, and the kind of friendly staff that actually makes you want to ask questions. Inspiration? It's everywhere. From the water features, to the whimsical sculptures, to lush displays that make you rethink your whole gardening vision. There are restrooms if nature calls, and there are plenty of delightful garden goodies to buy/take home.
