This dry cleaner consistently misses the mark on our clothes. I brought in a dress that needed the ripped pocket restitched. I came back a week later to pick up the dress and they tried to give me the dress with the pocket still ripped. Luckily I checked it there, saw it was still ripped, and had them fix it while I waited. Then I brought in a sweater that was dry clean only, and they shrunk it. Now, I sent them a sheer dress that had a slip inside. They gave me the dress back, with no slip. Now it's missing and I have to buy another slip if I want to wear this dress again. Requested folded shirts multiple times and whenever I picked them up, they were delivered unfolded. Gave them five tries to fold shirts on different occasions as I needed them for travel. Also could not put simple buttons on a shirt but still wanted $12.00 dollars for no work done. Asked them to remove and replace five buttons and they said it could not be done. A few months ago, the previous (excellent, amazing) owners retired. New owners took their place. I urge people not to use East Avenue Cleaners for their dry cleaning needs. I do not believe the new owners know how to operate a dry cleaning business. If everything goes as planned, they are fine. In my situation, if anything goes wrong, they will not inform you--specifics in my situation. 1. I sent one of my rugs for dry cleaning on May 10, 2025. The receipt instructed us to pick up the rug on May 22, 2025. 2. I followed up on May 24, 2025, regarding my rug. The owner said they sent the rugs off to a 3rd party for cleaning. Their third-party cleaner did not pick up the rugs, and the owner instructed them to try again at their store a week later. The owner did not notify me that they would delay my rug cleaning and did not provide an estimated time of completion. 3. That day, I said I would return in about three weeks, or around June 12, 2025, or thereabouts. 4. I returned on the morning of June 13, 2025. I went to claim my rug. The workers had no idea about the status of my rug cleaning and couldn't find the receipt. I spoke to the owner on the phone, who said, "They will call back in an hour." I was angry, and I said I would wait in the store until they arrived. Instead, they said, "I am not going to be in the store until 11 AM, but I will call you as soon as I arrive." 5. Fortunately, the workers there were able to find the receipt of the cleaning-rug-work-order, showed it was complete, and (due to their disorganization) demonstrated that they had my rug for weeks by then. They did not have a system in place to track the location of the cleaned rug or even to confirm whether it was clean. If you still choose to do your dry-cleaning here, expect no service. I brought in a pair of slacks that I had only worn once, and when I picked them up, there was a hole and what looks very clearly like a burn mark running down the leg. I tried these pants on right before dropping them off, so I am 100% sure that damage was NOT there beforehand. When I pointed it out, the woman at the front desk just said, "We do a lot of pants and this never happens," and basically brushed me off. What bothered me even more is that no one mentioned the damage when I picked them up. If I hadn't tried the pants on at home, I wouldn't have discovered this until the night of my event. Honestly, I'm less upset about being reimbursed and more frustrated that they didn't take responsibility or at least let me know what happened. Extremely disappointed with my experience at East Avenue Dry Cleaners. I believe it is under new management. One of my favorite pairs of pants was apparently stuck in their machine and came back covered in grease and completely ruined. What upset me most was that no one bothered to call me -- they only told me when I arrived for pickup. I was calm and understanding, acknowledged that accidents happen, and even showed them the exact pants along with the replacement cost. Instead of reimbursing me, they only offered a small dry-cleaning credit that wouldn't even cover the value of the pants. It has now been two weeks, and despite multiple phone calls, I still have not received a return call from the manager. The lack of accountability and customer service has been incredibly frustrating. I took clothes in and they could not find them. Once I drove all the way back home I get a call that they are there. Okay just was informed it's new owners which explains why this place went so far downhill. I used to come here for my alteration and cleaning needs. I kept encountering the same lady (who I think is the owner) and she would deny any requests. Simple ones such as embroidering a top with two initials. I said "so strange I've had this done here before" to which she snapped "no we don't". Then came on yelp and it shows new owners took over. Makes so much sense why my clothes didn't smell as fresh as previous times and why they denied every request other than just a basic dry clean. Left two shirts with them to get altered for 5 days. They took measurements and said it would be done in 4 days. I go to pick up the shirts and they were never touched. The seamstress said she wasn't sure if I wanted a part of the shirt cut so she didn't start on the service. They never called to ask or called to let me know they couldn't do the job. I explained to her I needed these shirts for work and was told they would get it done. The least they could've done was call and let me know they wouldn't be able to do the job. Maybe it's the Bay Area, maybe it's me but this place is super overpriced for a simple hem. To hem 2.5 inches off a dress I had to pay 35 dollars!! That was more than the cost of the dress. It is my bad that I didn't ask the price when I gave the dress to be hemmed! I also received the dress and it was a bit shorter than I had expected.
