But those methods still left a lot to be questioned and I often ended up dangerously dry. Dr. Wilson was the first doctor who was able to put my medical care into the greater context of my lifestyle. He not only studied my diet and my medication list, but my daily activities as well. As I am a serious dancer, he realized that my workouts greatly influenced the amount of medicine I needed, since I ended up losing more water through sweat. On those days that I was most active, he suggested that I lower my lasix. Three years later, my body and water weight have remained steady. I feel as though I have a much greater understanding as to how my medicine interacts with my body, and I no longer feel as though I am making uneducated guesses as to my daily medication. I was no longer the happy, active person I had been. I bloomed up to 247 pounds. I tried to help myself at least from getting fatter with all kinds of diets, even the Atkins diet now called keto. Nothing worked and I found myself cheating with carbs to get energy because I was chronically exhausted. And often sick with bronchitis and getting high blood pressure and pre-diabetic. I did not know then about insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. I don't think it was talked much about in the media at the time. Today 17 1/2 years later, I know that if my Hero Dr. Paul Cirangle could see me now that he would be proud of me for following all of the rules. Essentially that means behaving myself for myself. Getting a gastric bypass as a lifetime commitment. I wanted to be not fat. because regardless of political correctness and not body shaming, etc. being fat is a very serious health issue.
