This was the first big project we tackled after buying our new home, and we were honestly so overwhelmed and nervous. But from the very beginning, Ecopacha made the entire process feel streamlined, manageable, and even enjoyable. Our front landscaping hadn't been touched since the house was built in the 60s--it was completely outdated and in desperate need of love. Manuel came out to meet us and immediately understood our vision. He helped us design a front yard that's not only beautiful but feels like us. And Humberto--he's truly one of the kindest and most patient people I've ever worked with. I had a ton of questions throughout the process, and he took the time to walk me through everything with so much care and detail. Their entire crew was amazing--showing up every single day on time, ready to work, and incredibly efficient and meticulous. I was so impressed by their dedication and commitment that I decided to add a second project: redoing a part of our backyard fence and garden area to create a play space for our daughter. It was such a joy to watch it all come together. One of the biggest bonuses? Humberto went above and beyond with our irrigation system--he discovered we had two separate sprinkler systems watering the lawn and fixed it so that only one runs now. That alone is saving us so much on our water bill every month. Any concern or question I had--no matter how small--was addressed right away and with genuine care. It was clear throughout the entire process that they deeply care about the quality of their work and about making their clients happy. Now, our front yard looks modern, fresh, and completely transformed--and I honestly can't believe it's mine. Every time I step out my front door, I'm in awe that this dream yard is ours. I really liked working with Manuel, Humberto, and their team (two very hardworking guys!). They were professional, prompt via text message, friendly, creative with ideas, and flexible. I recommend checking them out. We only had one snag during the project when part of it was installed the wrong direction (removing one star for that), but they fixed it quickly the next day without any hassles. Everything else was 5 stars!! We finally have the side yard(s) of our dreams (which is a very silly phrase, but for homeowners who geek out about such things, you know what I mean, LOL). And we also have a much-improved drainage setup that will hopefully manage the rain from winter storms far better to keep our house and its perimeter dry. Spent countless hours with Manuel aligning on scope of effort, and then spent weeks and weeks following up with Manuel saying he's on it. Three months of being strung along later, Manuel asks me to work with another company. Waste of time for all parties. There are many landscape companies who value being responsive to customer - and can honor their word when promising follow ups. Why settle? In response to the owners reply: the reason two previous contracts were not signed is because they made significant scope omissions - chasing you down for simple corrections has been a nightmare. Even with my constantly shifting vision, they not only flowed with it, they were able to meet me every step of the way with their own ideas and problem-solving, as we overhauled my ~4,000 sq-ft yard, from wild meadow to drip-irrigated beds and a spiral labyrinth. I had the pleasure of working with the Ecopacha team for a big project at my non-profit building in Berkeley, and highly recommend them for any job! They came to do a site visit and provided us with a comprehensive and affordable estimate at no cost. Our project was a large one, and included a ton of ivy removal from our fence and around the entire building, majorly trimming and cleaning up our trees & hedges, extensive weeding and removing an inch of top-soil to lay anti-weed fabric and gravel so our weeds would not grow back, as well as all of the cleaning and hauling of debris, and they did it all in one day. Carlos and Gisela did such a great job with our little project. Gisela was spot on with scheduling and Carlos and his helper cranked out the irrigation install in FAR less time than i would have thought. Furthermore, we didnt actually lay in the sod for 30 days after the irrigation install but Carlos came back and replaced half of the sprinklers that it turns out were too short for the install we finally did on the sod (on our own). No questions, just did it and made it work. Plus they were always polite and respectful. A total joy. I am so thankful to Humberto and his partner while writing this review. Let's say the last week has been terrible and very dismal. My irrigation system sprung a leak, and my insurance came out and said, "it's not cover". They wouldn't refund my money. I called 8 different companies. Two companies cancelled on me on the day of service. Another was on "vacation" until after the weekend. They didn't bother to call back on Monday. Anyhow I kept trying and got Humberto who said he is in the Pinole area and schedule me 5-6 pm appt. following day. I was in luck!!! Then that day he called and ask if he can swing by early to examine the damage before going to his current project. $$I hit the jackpot$$ of course, please come by. Told me they can fix it half the cost of what the other one quoted me over the phone. Let's say after 2 weeks of being washed out physically- " The sun was in my favor." Serious, I'm so grateful. Like many of the excellent reviews here, we found them to be responsive, punctual and hard working. We needed their monthly gardening service because of our oak trees hugged house in our steeply terraced yard (and I know you're nodding if you have oak trees too, oh so much debris) and they did a fantastic job. The ground is usually cluttered with leaves within a week, so I always looked forward to their arrival. And also because of them our plants/ferns are free from weeds and debris. We really wanted to like this company beacuse of their sustainable practices but unfortunately we had a bad experience with EcoPacha. First they came to give us an estimate and said they were going to start working in my backyard next day but they never arrived. They finally showed up three or four days after, and never communicated it. This communication problems continued till they finished the work 2 days after. The last day they added the irrigation system but left everything disorganized and it seemed they did it in a rush, so my husband and I had to organize everything. Along that we found two used face mask trowed in the backyard which is concerning due to the present sitation. Now the grass they planted is dying even though we don't even walk on it. They made me feel like our money is worthless. Now we have to find a new company to fix it again. This is so frustrating. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone again. read more
