Was in Berkeley and decided to stop by for the first time. Such a great place to get plants. So many beautiful plants to choose from. Huge variety of plants and other items for gardening. Great employees that are friendly and knowledgeable. Spoke with at least 5 employees all were very helpful. Had a great conversation with Toshi she is definitely an asset to this business. The prices are fair. We bought lots of plants and I can't wait to come back for more.

Be sure to ask and you will get help but it's one of my favorite places on San Pablo in berk and also they are closed Sundays fyi.. really the best selection of non Heavy light required plants like my favs the pink panther. Get refreshed and check these guys out!

Drove an hour to see this plant shop and it was worth it! Nice shop with a great variety of houseplants. I found my pilea there, they had a great selection of them! They also had super cute bonsai trees and succulents. Will definitely be coming back again to get my plant fix!

It was lovely to visit East Bay Nursery. The place was well lit and well organized. Everything looked alive and lovely. I'm sure I stayed there longer than I needed because I felt so peaceful to do the surroundings. There was plenty of help around if it was ever needed. Their prices are decent and they had alot of great choices of plants and other yard things. I look forward to coming back.

Ask the Community - East Bay Nursery

Interested in purchasing a variety of flowers and herbs/veggies for 3 outdoor balcony railing planter boxes I have. If I bring the planters, do you guys offer potting services?

Please bring them by, decisions for this type of service are based on several factors. There may be a small service fee charged.

Do you have calamari or calamunding, fuyu persimmons and avocado on pots?

We do carry Calamondin, learn more here: https://eastbaynursery.com/citrus-calamondin You can follow…

    What ferns do you stock?

Hi Lois, We carry about 20+ different ferns. Please give the nursery a call and one of our crew can help narrow down our options. We are open Tuesday's - Saturday's 8:30-5:00. Thanks so much!

Do you carry Gary's best top pot soil?

Hi Mike, We do not carry it in store but do special order it for people as they request. Please reach out to Alejandro at the Nursery to inquire about pricing and availability.

    Do you have pond/marginal plants?

Do you have drawf lace maple trees?

Hi Richard, Yes we have 15 or so varieties of Lace-leaf Japanese Maples in several sizes.

Is this nursery selling winter greens?

Yes, we do sell fresh cut Christmas trees, Wreaths, and Garland. We have a limited but good selection trees remaining. We are sold out of many sizes of wreaths but still have 12" in stock, there is a small amount of garland remaining as well.…

    Do you sell leca?

Hi Nick, We are currently unable to source these. Please check back in a few weeks and we should have an update by then.…

Hello for vegetables and herbs is there a day of the week that is best to catch new stock? For planting a large garden.

Shhh... Don't tell anyone... It varies week to week but either Thursday or Friday afternoons is when we have our best selection.…

    Do you carry sphagnum moss?

Hello, Yes we do currently have some in stock.

Is it necessary to have both an A and B avocado tree ? Do both come in 10-15' sizes (or smaller) Do you have these trees in stock?

To produce the fruit, avocado, you need the male and the female. I had the Male one for years, couldn't figure out why it wouldn't produce a single fruit until i asked a farmer. What a waste of tree.

Do you have blueberry bushes in stock?

We have 5-7 varieties in stock in different sized containers starting $15.95.

Do you have variegated string of hearts and string of turtles?

We hope to have both of these both back in stock soon. Please check back in 2 weeks or so. Thanks…

Hi! Do you carry the string of hearts plant and a ruby rubber plant?

We are currently out of the String of Hearts and the Ruby Rubber plant, please check back as we will get them back in when we can. We may have the Ruby rubber plant next week...…

Do they carry pink princess philodendrons?

Hello, I am sorry but we do not have this at this time. Please keep checking back as we bring it…

Are dogs (on leash) allowed? (Can I bring my tame leashed dog with me into the nursery?)

Absolutely! We are always happy to see tame, leashed dogs!

The plant I picked out with help from one of the staff, not only is perfect for the space that I want it for, but because I also purchased a lovely ceramic pot, as a complementary service, they repotted my plant in its new ceramic pot. They do offer repotting for your plants, and it's obvious that they have a ton of repeat customers. The store was becoming busy as I was looking at all the different plants, gifts, etc., and if people weren't purchasing arrangements, or having repotting done, they were purchasing new plants like I was. It's a great spot if you're looking to grow your own food or just enjoy a calm walk through nature. There's a section for indoor houseplants, but it's a bit limited. Most of the options are Succulent plants and hardier varieties, so if you're looking for a large variety of tropicals or more delicate indoor plants, you might not find much--though there is a separate indoor plant area that was closed off during our visit. You'll definitely notice the fertilizer smell when you walk in--not overwhelming, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive. Still, the overall atmosphere is relaxing and grounding. It's a really lovely spot to explore, especially if you enjoy gardening or just want a nature-filled reset. As a customer of Flowerland for several years, writing the following brings me no joy. I was there…read morethe other day and saw a pair of gauntlet gloves. There was no price. I asked; the woman behind the counter looked it up and answered: $42. That seemed a bit expensive, so I checked online. While checking, the same woman comes over, sits down next to me, and asks, "Can I tell you something? Small business can't compete with Harbor Freight," then gets up and leaves. First, her statement to me was incredibly condescending. I'm almost 60 years old and know how businesses large and small work. She didn't need to scold me like I'm 5 years old. (FYI, Harbor Freight doesn't even sell any gauntlet gloves.) Did she honestly think she'd either guilt or shame me into buying their gloves? Did she think that was a good tactic to engender customer loyalty? Second, I'm all for -- and do -- support local businesses, even if it means paying a little bit more. As I said initially, I've been a customer of Flowerland's for several years. In general, if an item seems expensive, I check online not only to compare price, but to read reviews, in this case, for the particular brand of gloves. If an item has 4- and 5-star reviews, perhaps it's worth the extra price and I have made such purchases in the past. I've certainly knowingly paid more for their 1-gallon plants averaging around $22 whereas I know that many places sell 1-gallon plants for around $15. Third, in this case, this particular brand of gloves was about four times the typical cost of other gauntlet gloves I saw online. As I said, sometimes I'm willing to pay more to support a local business, but that does not mean I'm willing to do so unconditionally at any price -- especially for things like gloves that, no matter how good quality they are, will eventually wear out. Gloves are disposable, commodity items. (The seams at the fingertips are always the first part to wear out.) If that woman is independently wealthy, works at Flowerland just for fun, and pays any price any small business asks, well good for her. Some of us, myself included, are retired and are living off savings. From now on, I'll stick to Berkeley Hort, Orchard Nursery, and others where I have never been condescended to by any member of staff. Oh, and Berkeley Hort's plant prices tend to be better anyway.

You have to park in or around the other warehouses in the area or a couple of blocks away. After we found parking we made our way over and oh it was a huge disappointment to behold. I think we only stayed for a few minutes before we called it a bust and a waste of time. Do not, I repeat, do not believe the videos that these social media influencers are feeding your algorithm. There was so much trash, broken products, and some of the furniture that could be salvaged had ridiculous price tags on them. Some sets were incomplete, coffee mugs were cracked, tools rusted, and when asked about certain electronics working conditions they either didn't know or refused to check. Needless to say we were unimpressed and never coming back.
