This is a super cute plant store! It had a good selection for smaller plants. We were looking for a larger plant, and didn't find it here. But we enjoyed looking around. It was mainly for indoor plants. Price is decent.

A small store, with an interesting selection of potted plants, cuttings, and Studio Ghibli merch. Not sure why that last one, but whatever. I appreciated the clerk's knowledge - I asked her about columneas, which I never see out here, and she mentioned that they often have lipstick plants in April or May. There were some rare and expensive Japanese imports, and really cute variegated leafy small potted plants.

    So many plants

So many cool varieties of plants and plant adjacent trinkets! The lady who worked here was so nice and helpful and the store was just gorgeous!

I've been looking for a plant store around here, since I recently moved to the area. After visiting 3 other businesses and not being convinced by the prices, I decided to stop by Planterday, particularly because I saw a Yelp review that mentioned affordability. Of course, the pictures of beautiful plants also drew me in. I am SO happy to report that I was extremely happy with my experience at Planterday. My partner and I were looking for plants for a few rooms in our home. The person working at the store was very sweet and answered all of our questions, even giving us specific plant recommendations based on the direction our windows face in each room. The prices seemed to be pretty reasonable! I've been to so many plant stores that charge high prices for plants that don't look very well cared for. Planterday isn't like that at all. The prices are lower than I expected, and every single plant looks like it has been meticulously cared for. There's not a single one that looks a little sick. I didn't see a single brown leaf or any evidence of lack of sunlight, over/underwatering, pests, etc. Honestly everything looked super healthy. The surrounding neighborhood of downtown Rockridge also looked really cute. Lots of restaurants, cafes, and other local businesses to support! My partner and I ended up purchasing a marble queen pothos and a philodendron Brasil, as well as a ceramic pot and a plastic saucer. I can't wait to nurture these beautiful plants and watch them grow! Also can't wait to return to Planterday and add to my collection :)

One of my fave plant stores in the Bay Area. Prices are one of the best - and they have rare plants available for good prices too! They have a lot of non-plant stuff as well. Every time I go, the workers are always super friendly and willing to explain everything

I've shopped at many plant shops in the bay but none compare to the beauty that is Planterday. Cynthia, apart from being super attentive and knowledgeable, was genuinely excited to answer our questions and share their own experiences with plants. She was warm and welcoming from start to finish, not just with my partner and I, but with every other costumer that came in. During our time there, a costumer came in and was pretty worried about some spider mites he saw on his plant. Without hesitation, Cynthia answered his questions and provided step by step instructions on how to properly care for his plant to get rid of the infestation. She is a rockstar!!! I also appreciate the small information cards all around the shop for folks that might be too shy to ask questions or need visual learning tools. I can tell that Planterday is very intentional behind their design, community, and space. There is so much love at Planterday and I am grateful to have experienced that during my visit today! I will definitely be back and I will never stop talking about Planter day!! Best plant-shop in the Bay

This is my favorite plant store in the area!! Street parking isnt tough to find, but they can be small spots. Very very cute little plant store, they have a lot of studio ghibli inspired decor around and the owners are absolute sweethearts! Every time ive gone in they answer all my questions (which can at times be plenty), and are very kind with their answers! i recently drove around to several plant stores for a Pink Princess Philodenron and was ONLY able to find it here for a great price. I also got a beauuutifully variegated syngonium albo cutting here for $18! They have lots of great plants at wonderful prices. You wont regret coming here!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, affordable prices and a percentage of sales being contributed to mental health services, what's there not to love of this business? Without a doubt, the best plant shop I've ever come across.

I've been to a lot (maybe even most) of the plant shops across the Bay Area, so I don't say this lightly - Planterday is hands down my favorite of them all. Matt and Yumi are both incredibly warm and knowledgeable about their plants. I saw them helping customers with genuine care, taking the time to explain lighting and plant choices. The mission behind the shop is also close to my heart: they donate a portion of proceeds to Crisis Support Services of Alameda, which is a text line for people going through mental health crises. The shop itself is gorgeous, with a great selection of both common and rare plants! They also have a nice propagation bar if you'd rather buy cuttings at a cheaper price. Yumi answered my questions about carnivorous plants (ended up buying my first sundew!) and packaged my purchases with a lot of care, so I could safely transport them back to San Francisco. I love this shop, the selection, and especially its mission. It's clear that this is a space founded on love, and I plan to come back as often as I can :)

Such a wonderful place! Their plants are healthy and the prices are reasonable. Happy to support this business and can't wait to return.

It's a great spot if you're looking to grow your own food or just enjoy a calm walk through nature. There's a section for indoor houseplants, but it's a bit limited. Most of the options are Succulent plants and hardier varieties, so if you're looking for a large variety of tropicals or more delicate indoor plants, you might not find much--though there is a separate indoor plant area that was closed off during our visit. You'll definitely notice the fertilizer smell when you walk in--not overwhelming, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive. Still, the overall atmosphere is relaxing and grounding. It's a really lovely spot to explore, especially if you enjoy gardening or just want a nature-filled reset. Heads-up for allergy sufferers: with all the plants, pollen, and earthy air, you may want to plan accordingly. We didn't directly interact with the staff, but they seemed friendly and helpful, assisting other guests as I walked by. Their inventory is dominated by your typical cultivars of philodendrons, anthuriums, pothos, etc. Most of these plants are widely available at garden centers and other plant stores. Even the carnivorous plants and staghorn fern they had are varieties I've commonly seen elsewhere. They also carry spray painted tillandsias, a practice I dislike because it obscures the plant's natural appearance and is something I generally associate with novelty retail rather than horticulture. I visited hoping to find some unique specimens, such as uncommon orchids, metallic leaved begonias, rocklike pseudolithos, or other harder to find collector plants. Casual indoor plant owners would probably find this store adequate, but I'd recommend those looking specifically for rare or unusual plants to skip this place. Update: Soon after writing this review I got a very emotionally charged message from the owner who mentioned that my review is a "public dig" and asked "Is it your goal to damage a women owned and run small business?". It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I leave an honest respectful review (all I did was highlight who this store would be good for!) and I get a response like that. Especially ending in her saying "I hope you have a better day than I now will have". It's all very unprofessional.

My bf gently touched one of the plants he wanted to purchase to fully inspect it before purchasing, but then the owner started berating us profusely.
