Officer Lynsky, the inspecting officer, informed me that an appointment was required but that he'd try to work me in, which he did. After he was done with the inspection, I found out that he had worked me in during his lunch hour! Who does that? He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful. My most recent interaction was today when I called to report a dangerous incident involving a fellow community member. The desk deputy listened to the issue, knew my area, and helped me understand how to handle future incidences. He also reminded me of how to be a better community member just by his example of being concerned, supportive and objective. (I forgot his name, sorry! I keep thinking Petrillo, but that's just because I'm a Golden Girls nut) I'm giving 5 stars not just for today but over the years they've been good Judys to the my family and my community and I'm saying that as someone that's had a family member incarcerated at that station.

It was mostly 'here's where X department works' and answering a lot of silly questions from the group. They did, however, get a few forensic fingerprint people come to show how they are able to get fingerprints & even let the kids use some kits to lift their own fingerprints. That was definitely the highlight of the trip for sure. So, if you are coming for a tour, I'd say don't expect any life changing events or information to come your way. Instead, just a surface level walkthrough. It is what it is.

My experience with the Police Department was extremely disappointing. Before her sergeant arrived, she was leaning on my vehicle and looking through my purse, while acting as though the vehicle was hers to control. Although I was only a passenger and was ultimately cleared with no record or issues on file, she continued to speak to me in a verbally aggressive and intimidating manner. After I respectfully asked her not to speak to me further, she continued the interaction in what I perceived to be a harassing and confrontational way. I felt that she was abusing her authority rather than treating me with professionalism and respect. This was my personal experience with the Police Department, and I believe members of the public deserve to be treated fairly, respectfully, and without unnecessary intimidation.
