I've been a constituent of this station for a decade, with several interactions with them as resident of a fire zone. My most recent interaction was today when I called to report a dangerous incident involving a fellow community member. The desk deputy listened to the issue, knew my area, and helped me understand how to handle future incidences. He also reminded me of how to be a better community member just by his example of being concerned, supportive and objective. (I forgot his name, sorry! I keep thinking Petrillo, but that's just because I'm a Golden Girls nut) I'm giving 5 stars not just for today but over the years they've been good Judys to the my family and my community and I'm saying that as someone that's had a family member incarcerated at that station. read more

I'm with everyone that believes the lack of leadership and respect this station has for residents in the area. I have dealt with them during the fires, shootings, trespassing, racing,... You go to the station & same as Jessie R shared- you stay there waiting for hours. You can hear them in the back. One time, I even wanted to take a video since one officer came out just to pick up her uber eats order and went back inside. No wonder these people only have 3 stars who monitors and controls these Sheriffs up at Lost Hills? Had the single worst interaction with these guys yesterday. More embarrassing on their part if anything. I've been in Calabasas my whole life. Had a sheriff at the gas station off Lost Hills that was buying a drink, profile me, follow me out of the gas station, waited until I drove off and pulled me over immediately at the McDonald's. Now these guys are not dumb they do this for a living. They know when someone's impaired, nervous, or just has a real disability almost right away when they approach people. The deputy pulled up to my window, gun drawn, opens the door and pulls me out. Cuffs me, puts me in the back of the cop car and then resumes with 5 other deputies that showed to rip my van to pieces. As I watched shocked, with my wrists literally strangled by the cuffs for about an hr. I tryed several times to call out of the window so he could at least release the hold on the cuffs, at which no time did they pay attention. Which my wrists are still marked black and blue at this moment. They wanted so bad for me to be a criminal, have a warrant, or be DUI is was disgraceful they wouldn't let it go. 5 sheriffs on me for this. He said I was acting alittle unnerved, which caused him to believe I was DUI. Which i explained if u walk up to a car on a simple traffic stop with your gun drawn, I'm pretty sure anyone will give that reaction. He explained about the field sobriety tests, which I happily accepted and said I'd go even further. Let's just cut to the chase and give me the breath test. Which he said he had to conduct the field sobriety tests as protocol in order to get there.. Like I thought, I call their bluff they did nothing. I explained to him right off the bat forthcoming that my van hadn't been registered yet because it needed a lot of work which I recently had done, and was in the process of getting it smogged so I could complete it. Which he's more than welcome to tow if he likes. The law is a the law. I didn't beg him to not do anything. I accepted it. However, his only clear concern was to find out why I'd been arrested, 25 YRS AGO!!!!!!! And if I had any drugs or guns in the car. Whatever he could find to take me away to jail. I was never combative from the start. Did exactly as he requested because he had his gun drawn. I was never under the influence of anything. My license was clean. My record is clean. And nothing illegal was in my car. Like I told him. I wanted out of that cop car. No need to be in it in the first place. The cuffs were strangling me which left marks on my wrists, and literally had me convinced they were either planting drugs in my car or were going to find anything they could to take me away. They conducted NO tests other than a couple flashes of his flashlight in my eyes. Basically ransacked through me and my possessions and then left me there on the side of the road when they finally gave up & figured out they had nothing. If he thought I was DUI, then do the tests. If I fail THEN put me in the cop car. If I say no I'm sober but he strangles my wrists and throws me in the car anyway w/out any proof, that's a problem. The amount of miscommunication, lack of communication and outright failure of leadership in regard to ingress and egress of the residents of Monte Nido area during the Franklin Fire was so unbelievably upside-down that it almost feels intentional. If you actually made a show about it, it would have to be an SNL skit. These Sheriffs weren't in danger doing a hard job, they were sitting on their asses all day long playing half traffic cop. Our job was to get our kids to school, get to work, take care of our animals and elderly parents and be able to return home again. However in light of the stressful situation they could have been helped by the Sheriff's ORDERS made it exponentially worse. Many in our community were brought to tears as ANTI logic was applied to the road closures trying to get in and out of our homes in Monte Nido. Monte Nido was NEVER under a mandatory evacuation, that should be made clear. We went from seeing a RAGING fire from Piuma road on day one, a day when road closures could have made sense to have been closed, but the road was wide OPEN both ways into Monte Nido for everyone, residents and non residents both for the most part. BUT sometimes it was a rule to stop and give an ID, and other times it wasn't. Then Thursday rolled around. After 3 days the power came back on and the fire was largely contained, it was 45 degrees outside, there was almost no fire, it was effectively over. However this is where the logic, insanity, and ignorance of the government and Sheriff's that have no business running an ice cream shop really shines. I should attach the pictures I took. As I said, the fire was mostly out, there was no wind and the chinooks were handling the hot spots and it's 50 degrees, and less at night. However I took my kids to school like I did Tuesday and Wednesday at 8am and at 830am they would not let me make a right at Las Virginas which we all know who live here is BULLSHIT. There was no fire, no hotspots, no crews cutting lines, nothing, no emergency vehicles of any sort were anywhere on the road, and the best part, people were leaving and coming down the road like it was wide open? If it is so dangerous, why are people able to leave on that road? Why weren't they forced to leave the way people were entering through the backside? The reason? Whoever is making these decisions has absolutely no idea what they're doing, at all. So? I wasn't able to go home, get changed and drive to LA for a meeting in time, the back way is always open too, which makes zero sense, but it takes an extra 15 minutes which caused me to miss my meeting that cost me money. Later that day, Thursday the 12th of December, we left to pick up our kids at school and the Sheriff at Mulholland said that the closure had been lifted 25 minutes ago and we should be good to return. When we approached Lost Hills sheriff's a mile down the road the Sheriff there told me they still had a hard closure for everyone and we couldn't go back IF we came out. If we came out. LOL. The guy was actually super nice and as confused as I was. He informed me he received no such news 25 minutes earlier that anything was open and told us we could not return, that was about 230. He then said I don't know how good the information is but I am told at 5pm today we're leaving. So we left and decided to do X-Mas shopping and eat out to come back well after 5PM as we were told it would all be open then. We came back at 730PM and the most insane thing of the whole week happened. We got to Las Virginias and the sheriff was gone, so we made a right turn. We got to Mulholland, and the Sheriff was gone, so we continued on. When we got to Piuma to make a left we were flagged down by the sheriff with one eye. He asked us what we were doing. What are we doing? With my wife and two kids in the car? Well, we're going to loot of course, what does he mean? My wife pulled her ID and said we live here, our street is there pointing down Piuma to Crater Camp which you can basically see. He said nope, you can't enter. My wife almost started to cry, what do you mean, I have hot dinner and my kids in the car, I just need to drive there, you won't let me, "NO, I will arrest you in front of your kids". He said that. These people are Pieces of Shit. This whole thing showed us who the Sheriff really are, a bunch of low IQ morons. It was literally the blind leading the blind. I don't know who is responsible but you should make yourself known while you attempt an explanation for your inconsiderate and inept judgement calls. You have zero regard for people's children, aged parents, animals, taking kids to school, going to work to pay for it all? Did you think about any of that? Whether to report a crime or to have them check out suspicious persons lurking about or loitering - they are quick to respond and show that they do care. They truly want to catch or prevent criminals who target stealing from cars, and although this has been reduced to a petty "slap on the wrist" crime, Lost Hills Sheriff show true interest in protecting the people in our community as they drive through our communities morning, day and night. Even 1 star needs to be deserved but this is not the case for this department. If you ever need any help from this place just find a way to resolve your problem on your own. "Serve and Protect" are just two words that do not reflect the work that the Lost Hills Sheriffs Department is supposed to do. But they can easily make your life miserable. 10/27/15 upon finding the fork, the purp threw at me approx. 70' from where he had thrown the plate, he's statement to deputy "do nothing" forbes was that he was startled to see me and threw the plate folk, n chicken somehow against all physics the plate thrown 1st at me, I moved so he broke the patio glass table approx. 15' away, the fork 45-50' away in a different area where I ducked to avoid being impaled, and chicken tossed above his head had actually reached orbit and didn't fall from space until the next day upon the trash in my patio where myself and two other deputies already had searched after the incident and the fork that I thought was a knife becuz of the dark handle and the shiny sharp end was discovered 45-50' in the direction where I ducked for cover and his intended target (me) after he missed me the first time. Having now found the fork and now very upset about the possibly tainted chicken that was left after the incident. deputy De Mateo knocked on our door and was so very rude by stating he did not care what I had to say and that he was only here as a courtesy to the purp whom wants this all to go away! No! You don't almost injure me with a plate, miss, then try again with a fork, then the next day, or sometime that night throw possibly tainted chicken in my patio knowing I have elderly dogs, that even spicy chicken would have gotten them sick and say, "I would like this all to go away" and call deputy De Mateo to serve your Message with not so much as an apology! This is a violent man I am living next to in my personal experience. Deputy De Mateo was as arrogant and ignorant as Deputy Forbes the night before. For the other deputies that assisted me, I thank you-perhaps anyone of you should have taken lead because these two deputies are a disgrace to any victim! After De Mateo laughed at me as he stood at my door stating he didn't want to hear what I had to say, I asked him what was so funny because we were not laughing, we are two women living next door to a maniac and now have to watch for the safety of our animals! I shouted this bullying is over as I am calling his Watch Commander! Then Dep clown De Mateo stated that we should get a restraining order on the guy next door as soon as one can! Oh, now you are trying to help?. I had to threaten to call the Watch Commander? I am not intimidated, Dep de mateo became visibly pissed then starts asking my friend and myself for our I.D's and names, I told him mine, and I asked my friend she wasn't under arrest and therefore does not have to give this dep de moron crap as he has made it clear and stated HE DOES NOT CARE what I have to say, I asked him for his card, he refused to give it to me, I asked dep de mateo for his name, he refused to answer, I had to read his name tag. dep. de mateo with two other deputies arrive for a non emergency reason to offer the purp advice. Dep de Mateo, you are too ignorant to give advice and it is not your job unless you take that undeserving uniform off and go to law school and actually work for a degree! I slammed the door as my demand for him to leave were ignored. Then I heard Dep de mateo talk with the purp nicely with such urgency in his voice to get a retraining order on us, "the victims!" I yelled out of my window and said to de mateo, good job deputy, you tell the bad guy to get a restraining order! What a stellar officer of the law you are! I then hear him say only becuz he was caught, "and I told her the same thing." Dep forbes n De Mateo need to be reassigned to parking meters. I called Watch Commander, Sgt. Covarrubis whom was a huge difference! And having his title is completely deserving as a man of great integrity and patience. He too thought it was odd that Dep de Mateo was out of line to respond to the neighbors house to give advice, this is not what they are to do and was not in his job description and to be left to the courts. SGT. COVRRUBIS sent two additional deputies to see me as the FORK was FOUND and a new piece evidence of possibly tainted chicken left after The incident and search from the original responding deputies whom searched 10-15' upon the trash and perimeter in attempt to locate the fork yielding negative results and yet appears the next day suspiciously and with concerns placed there to poison the family pets/or at least get them sick. All facts of the incident coincide with my report and I felt HEARD and not dismissed. I was welcomed to lodge complaints regarding the unprofessionalism and mistreatment by dep forbes, and de mateo for their unusual actions. Watch Commander, SGT. COVRRUBIS sent Dep. Koerner and Sgt. Rod Loughridge #443234 whom performed their jobs with professionalism, and walked every step with me with Pride, and were thorough in their investigation wanting to actually know what transpired. I've visited the station for several different reasons. I've brought in my expired prescriptions for disposal. I've stopped in when I was being followed by a lunatic and they did research on the vehicle's owner and set my mind at ease. I've brought them cookies as a holiday gift. Everyone I've spoken to is kind, helpful and courteous. I feel comfortable knowing these dedicated officers are watching out for our community. Especially the J team. Way to go!! I came here for fingerprinting - no I wasn't being booked! There are not too many places you can get fingerprinted by an actual law enforcement agency, so it's great that they offer this service. They're not a business, but I do wish they were a little more considerate. When I called to find out information, they were too bust to deal with me, which I didn't appreciate and was told to call back later. So I did and scheduled an appointment for the following week. Unfortunately for me, they only offer fingerprinting services during normal business hours, so if you're one of the rare people who work a typical 9-5 like me, you have to take off work to get this done. So I did. And I came to my appointment 5 minutes early. And the fingerprinter wasn't there. They had called out. So someone else could just do it right? No. Only the designated fingerprinter. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if I wasn't working or working and getting PTO. But I wasn't, which sucked. Then I had to reschedule for the following week. So I came back. Took more time off of work. And this time I had a completely different experience. Everyone was helpful and friendly. My prints came out really well and I didn't need them to be redone (which I hear is a common thing), and despite having 4 cards that needed to be done, it didn't take very long at all. Where to start...the "officers" are frighteningly uneducated in how to perform daily basic law-enforcement duties. They frequently violate basic procedures, and then try to double-back and cover their own mistakes. It is very disheartening and frightening to be aware of just how lackluster their performance and training really is (especially when you take into account the extremely small size of the department) and I hope improvements are made on the department's part to teach their so-called "officers" proper conduct and proper procedures. Mitrice Richardson is one clear example of how their incompetence has damaged the community. From personal and legal experience, I can tell you that the death of this woman was caused by the direct and blatant incompetence of the Lost Hills "Sheriff" Department. Either take the necessary steps to know how to conduct yourselves like actual law enforcement, or stop milking the city of calabasas for money and shut down all operations. They lost a star from my previous review, mainly because they no longer accept unused medications. A phone call revealed that "clinics used to put their meds in there instead of paying, and as a result, the public was finding the bin completely filled up." So now the DEA comes by every six months instead. Not great. Sigh. read more

This police station is very unprofessional. Someone hit my car and I called them. They said they would send someone out, I water 40 mins no one showed up. Called them again they said there were emergencies in front of me. Long story short nobody showed up to do a report. I seen multiple officers just driving around and sitting at the gas station but they were to busy to come help me. So the next day I go to the station to file the report. I sat in the front for an hour if not longer and no one came out to help me!!! How is this a police station I don't get it! What a joke! read more

I called about a neighbor who had parked over my yard which had been recently landscaped.I explained all of this to the officers when they came out.Although it might have been a small issue,I wanted this person to stop doing this.I did not get any sympathy from the officers.They did talk to her but,I felt that they looked at me like I was a problem.They even made excuses for this person that was clearly in the wrong.I am dissapointed that they are not the way they used to respond in 1976 .I have not had any other problems but they do not have the same nice disposition towards good citizens. read more

I have great concern about this station. There appears to be a lack of common sense, a lack of respect and a lack of regard for human life. I have had too many interactions with this department on behalf of my now deceased intern Mitrice Richardson who was released in the dead of night on September 17, 2009, while in an apparent mental health crisis. While the arresting officer Armando Louriero did admit in an email that he arrested her because he was concerned that she was acting "ditzy", he failed to refer her for a psychiatric evaluation. He and is fellow officers had her place her belongings in her car so when she was released she had no phone, no money and no car as it was at a tow station on PCH. How they expected that she would be able to get to her car in her mental state and on foot remains a mystery. What also remains a mystery is what the officer who followed after her when she was released? Why the detectives on the case removed her body against the orders of the coroner also remains a mystery? The pornographic mural which depicted images of a naked African American woman is a mystery? What is not a mystery is why this case is not solved. The previous post was NOT posted by my wife or myself. We were living under hostile conditions while renting a room from what can only be described as some whacko. I never knew he would take it to this level. After giving notice to terminate our lease, we were met with lots of dissention, so we tried to stay elsewhere when we could. I had left pieces of paper lodged in door jambs, desk drawers and my computer. He went thru everything we had. Where I really screwed up was that I left all my "sign-in" and "password" list next to the computer. I have been told from friends about odd FB messages, E-Mails, and I also have stuff that is missing, etc. HE is the ONLY one who could have posted this crap. He knows the whole story. SO- Lost Hills Sheriff have been there to help us on several occasions, and as first responders and were vital to the situation. When we finally moved, the Sheriffs were there the whole time keeping the peace and for that we are grateful. The Landlord tried to get hostile on a prior visit and has gone out of his way to manufacture and manipulate people who are our friends and family who thankfully, did NOT buy into his BS. This dude is not playing with a full deck. I would publicize his name and location but our attorney has suggested that we do not. Thanks! I went here to get a traffic collision report. The guy at the front desk told me if would take an hour- something that only takes 5 mins to print off per the lady in records. It did only take about 10 mins, however the guy was very rude inquiring why I was getting the report, and being rude about the details of the incident. He also decided to give me grief about how my license didn't reflect my new address- I just moved. I think their customer service needs to improve, while they also need to get rid of their egos when helping out citizens. Horrible experience. read more

I work at a restaurant and periodically the whole traffic department comes in for breakfast including their sergeant, and they are ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONALLY POLITE KIND CONSIDERATE AND APPRECIATIVE ::::))))), always when asking me for anything.
