At 12:33 am I was woken up to a female screaming loud from our roof top, I immediately called 911 and was greeted by a female who CLEARLY was as rude as can be. I was half asleep,startled and had no clue what time it was and mentioned oh it's 12:33 and the 911 operator responded with I know what time it is, you don't have to tell me. She stated to me I was calling 911 the emergency line,which I was very aware of. Her nasty tone continued with how many people were up their,which I told her I have no idea I didn't go up to see and she responded, I didn't tell you to go up there. What a horrible person to have to deal with so early in the morning. Have a Supervisor please listen to her tone on this call and see she's clearly being very passive aggressive and shame on her! Anyway I shut my windows,fell back to sleep, woke up at 4:15 am for work and the loud noise continued on the Roof top. This is not a Reflection of our Amazing Police Officers who I work with daily but this Incompetent 911 Operator who CLEARLY hates her job. Recently had credit card theft a scammer tried to furnish/outfit their Philadelphia nail salon with ugly AF chandeliers and other light fixtures and 300 Turkish towels on my cc at the tune of $5445. My credit card company and the vendor suggested a police report to cover my credit rating in event something worse happens. Officer Duncan was so nice ! He gave me the paperwork, allowed me plenty of time to fill it out , I had all the evidence including the scammers address . he processed the report right in front of me gave me copies of report while i was there too Make sure you wait while he processes it . if you don't wait you will have to go to the records window and pay for the report . it's free the day you file it . He gave me a-lot of tips and info and was courteous and helpful at a stressful time . The good news is with the help of the vendor I stopped all of the orders going through, the shipping and the pick up orders by calling the vendor at the retail location and letting them know the orders were fraudulent . Supporting local law enforcement is not only important, but is considered a bold act. It is really important to me, that our community respond respectfully, and with great appreciation for what police officers execute, as part of their service, daily. Through an unfortunate event, I lost something very valuable to me (sentimentally, and high dollar value). I filed a police report last year, hoping someone would find the item, and by the grace of God, return it to the SVPD. Long story short, I thought I may have located the item. I called the SVPD to see if there was anything they could do. Officer Baron Cheng showed up to my place of residence in about 10 minutes. I was so grateful for his attention to the matter, professionalism, and compassion regarding my lost valuable. Via several days of my own research, he was very attentive when I called with any new information. I often think of law enforcement as placing their lives on the line to help civilians and protect the community. I truly feel they deserve a lot more money, credit and respect, than they may get. The valuable turned out not to be the item I was missing, but through the process, Officer Cheng was so helpful. I am grateful we have the privilege of being able to enlist in the help of Officers such as Officer Cheng. I know this is probably longer than it should be, but I just wanted to pass the information, and reminder along. For all my friends and family in this community, (I've lived here for more than 40 yrs) -remember the sacrifice these Officers make every day, on our behalf. I've had several negative experiences with the Simi Valley Police Department, mostly related to my motorcycle. They tend to target motorists and bikers by profile rather than by simply observing their behavior. I've had SVPD tail me as I ride through town, pull me over to hassle me about crap like rear view mirrors and mufflers and I've observed them lurking behind trees and on private property to "catch" people, instead of placing themselves conspicuously in the public eye as a deterrent and in case they're needed. More than anything, in my experience with them, their behavior is less professional and predictable than it is with either the Ventura County Sheriff or L.A. County Sheriff departments. They are obviously not trained as well as these other agencies. Overall, their lack of courtesy and professionalism has caused myself and many of my friends to avoid Simi Valley altogether when possible. read more

I had the privilege of being pulled over by none other than Officer Corey Baker. I was pulled over for having front tint. When he walked up to my window, all I saw was that glorious, astounding, respect-demanding mustache. Went in the other day to get my fingerprints scanned for a requirement for a university course. When I walked in I notice the young lady officer with her hand in her holster when I was talking to her about getting a live scan done and she made me and my boyfriend feel really uncomfortable while asking questions about the live scanning. She was unprofessional and seemed trigger happy putting her hand in her holster while I was asking questions in a civilized manner. And she was really rude and didn't say your welcome. This was how the convo went. "Hi, I am here to ask if you guys do live scanning?" The cop "we only do this for employees and you have to make a schedule" me "oh ok thank you" her "literally hands me a flyer and doesn't say a word" really rude I think she's acting this way because I'm a young Hispanic woman but I was born and raised in LA and I'm a US citizen and I'm college educated. read more

The Simi Valley police department is a poor example of what a law enforcement agency should be. They've behaved like brutes and thugs rather than peace officers. They escalate situations rather than diffuse them. They appear very agitated and eager for confrontation, which could lead to dangerous situations for themselves and citizens alike. Their aggressive behaviour causes them to create situations rather than responding to them. All-in-all, very unprofessional. They need more training and to involve themselves into the community more which would help tear down the negative stereotypes of "bad cops." read more

This cop... most definitely enjoyed the level of pain he was causiing me since I told him I got the car because my other car, which I also just got two weeks earlier, died at my job and left me stranded. They need no evidence to ticket you, if they want to give you a ticket they will. Officer B Green ticketed me for "tailgating" (I was not tailgating), waited until I was about to exit to pull me over, and then did nothing to explain how I tailgated. He then proceeded to illegibly write the courthouse I was to go to in order to fight the ticket. I went down to the department and spoke to his Sargent in order to get the address and state my grievance with officer B Green. The Sargent said he would "review the evidence" and call me after. I got a call later that day after he reviewed the video & he told me they had no evidence seeing as there was no back camera recording. The Sargent told me since there was no recording he "had to take the side of his officer"; with no evidence?? These people think they ARE the law, they have no respect for enforcing it. They either forget or don't care that it's the citizens who pay their salary. This department represents why the citizens of the USA have a problem with the police. Officer B Green, his Sargent, and probably the entire force is the absolute bottom of the earth scum. read more

I can't agree more with the negative reviews. My situation happened a few years back. Got in an accident just passed the DMV. I got t-boned by some twat and pulled into a residential area and parked properly. Cops/FD on scene in minutes. Wayyy to many of them if you ask me but hey.... tax dollars at work with the unioners. Anyways, there was nothing wrong or illegal with me being able to call my own tow truck since I wasn't broke down on a main thoroughfare and I wasn't improperly parked and my car wasn't a risk of blowing up. They already had a tow truck on scene who was straight up trying to take my vehicle without my permission. The cops were allowing it. I was not. I cursed out at least 6 cops, screamed at each and everyone of them that they are violating my rights as a California citizen, as a insurance paying customer, a tax payer and a carrier of AAA. All of which allow me to call my own tow truck. These pieces of crap cared nothing about the actual rights of the situation and only cared about the fact that they have a huge city contract with Dave's towing. WTF!!!!! Why does the city need to contract with a towing company and why only one? And why do they or Dave's NOT know the F*n laws on towing!!! Sounds like they don't give AF and only care about violating tax payers rights for their own contractual gains. Good ol boys. So after telling these cops they were everything deplorable under the sun for about 30 minutes while my husband is also confirming they are pieces of S* and cursing at them (to which none of them even flinched since they knew they were in the wrong but didn't care) one officer took me aside and pretty much verified that what they are doing is wrong, he can't stop it, they have seniority over him and I should just let it happen. I told him to f* off and stop being a pussy to the people who are violating MY rights. Why should I have my stuff taken away or thrown in jail for violating laws but you F*ckers can take my s* and put me in jail for VIOLATING MY RIGHTS and I have to just take it! Well if that ain't some s*!!! So, almost $400 to get my car out of the pound, I tried to file a complaint at the police department and some piece of s* donut eating ankle biter straight up lost his s* when he saw my husband come in after me and told me if I didn't get him out of the room, he would arrest both of us for causing a scene. Mind you, all I have done at this point is provided pics of the scene, statutes of my rights, notes of my rights that were violated and the names of the cops and Dave's towing that I want held responsible. I'm a white woman btw (in color, not heritage) and my husband is white (color not heritage) So this isn't a race thing. Not to us at least. Although I know it's always a race thing to a cop. They are looking for it. Which is also the reason why this is why I don't think they arrested me after the amount of things my husband and I had said to them. It felt great to literally say anything I wanted to a cop who I know wasn't going to arrest me cuz they knew they were violating my rights!!! (Really happy emoji). I sent in an application to have them pay me back the towing. They "received" it one day after it's supposed to be "received". and POOF!!! I'm not eligible for my reimbursement from officers who don't know the F*n LAW! Resubmitted it and told them they WILL pay me. Their response "ignorance of the law is no excuse". Keep that phrase in your head. Always. Well ain't that funny?!? Again, my "ignorance" results in my losing my S* after an accident that I didn't cause! Just experienced 2 arrogant and rude officers in wood ranch only concerned about the movie or tv show they are filming and could care less about us trying to get to the hospital with our sick son to the Emergency room. To have the audacity to block us from getting to the hospital is unacceptable- one officer was a lady screaming in the street and rolling her eyes and the other a man- both on power trips. Sad to see they can blatantly chose a movie/tv filming over needing to get a child to the ER with a bad asthma attack needing intervention. This is why police on a power trip get a bad wrap for all police and why there is so much public loss of trust in our law enforcement that we by the way pay for. It's an abuse of power and shows the sheer greed the power of a dollar will do over the health and welfare of a child. I have always been an advocate for police officers as I respect the challenges of their profession and the day to day danger of their jobs. My father is a retired police officer and my sister served over 23 years a deputy sheriff and I greatly respect their commitment. However, based on an action today, Saturday, March 28th, my opinion of the local Simi Valley Police Dept has negatively changed. Today I was cycling through Simi Valley with 13 other safe and responsible local cyclists. We started our ride with a safety breifing at 8:30 a.m. and cycled responsibly stopping at all traffic lights and stop signs. At around 10:00 a.m. our group was pulled over and issued a traffic citation for running a stop sign in a residential neighborhood without a single car in sight. Everyone slowed down to under 4 MPH, looked both ways, and continued on responsibly. Most of us completely stopped. I agree that cyclists that run red lights, speed through stop signs should be cited with traffic violations as they risk the safety of everyone. But, for this officer to have nothing better to do then give a ticket for approximtely $430.00 to a cyclist who came either to a complete stop, but didn't put their foot down, or slowed to within 2 or 3 miles an hour with no cars in sight, should look a little harder to find more worthwhile activities to do and to serve his local community. These type of police actions is what causes the distrust of police by law abiding citizens. Simi Valley Police Dept Shame on you. read more

I had to post something as I do not agree with everything that has been said. #1 police are not marshmallows, they are not to be soft. #2 When and if you are involved in a automobile accident, your responsibility is to assure that YOU receive from the other involved parties-their information. The responsibility of an officer is to assure everyone is safe, to make sure the road is cleared as promptly as possible to avoid further damages or other vehicles substantially colliding with vehicles already on scene. #3 If you are breaking the law then you need a ticket period. #4 Woman get stopped more often, maybe because we drive faster, slower, pay less attention to the road, and are always doing all that because we are rushing taking children to practices, school, or putting on makeup etc. #5 The police here in Simi are not just white, there is a mix of races, I've seen them all from white to even Native American-they are wonderful people. Maybe you see more whites because you're focused on only that race. Have you ever had a car for the first time and suddenly you see them everywhere? Uhm that's because you're focused on that car. The mind is so powerful, use it wisely. I have been here in this city 2yrs, have been stopped 3 times. One for driving my bucket halfway decent, half way gone to my new moving spot 2 miles away. I deserve it, I broke the law. I had no money to tow it and it was my only transportation for my belongings to our new place. The officer that stopped me, stopped me because my tire was pushed in, I had no lights on the left side, my whole left side was smashed in, and I had no insurance on it because I had no money to pay fir it on the due date. I was honest with him and told him my situation and he was very concerned for our safety, and humble and courteous. He gave me a fix a ticket, which I extended and finally had the means to fix it and that was that. He could have taken my car, but he knew what was right and what was humane. My next stop with cops was a 4 months ago. I was so upset with my son for staying late at his girlfriends house on a school night, so I was driving a bit fast but still at speed limit. I noticed an SUV directly behind me and since its super dark in the hills and I was alone and no other cars I freaked out and speeded up apparently passing my stop sign. So I get pulled over. I was so mad and as he comes to my window I asked what was he pulling me over for ( I thought I made that complete stop) I was upset and I told him after he said I didn't stop at the stop sign. I said I did, I know my stop on this road there's 3, one near the freeway, one behind me and one ahead and then that's it. He asked for my papers and I refused, I said No why are you stopping me, I committed nothing wrong, I have a right to know why you are stopping me and I don't have to give you anything unless you tell me if and what crime I committed? He calmly tried to explain to me again what I had done. I was not having it, I was so upset that I forgot to be humble and polite. So he asked why was I in such a hurry. I said I wasn't until you pulled up close to me and I didn't even know you were a cop and being dark and lonely I got scared. He said "so you admit, you did pass that stop sign?" I said No I didn't like I said I'm upset and I got scared, but I know my stops like the palm of my hand! He explained that he was behind me checking my plates because I was going a bit faster but not crazy fast and he observed I slightly passed the stop sign without a full complete stop. So he said " why are you in a hurry, why are you so upset?" So I explained to him about my son and that I had a bad day, and I had not eaten, but that I'm usually nice and polite. He said ok " I'm sorry about what your going through today, hopefully all gets better and you can have a long talk with your son so he doesn't stress you." I gave him my documents and he came back and said "Just drive safe, don't worry all will be ok. I'm going to let you go on this one, only because it wasn't a busy area and you were honest. Though you didn't fully stop its called a California roll." He let me go and that was that. Yesterday I got pulled over again-I was going 41 lmao 41 on a 25 speed limit! I was rushing trying to get the boys to school and myself to work. I didn't argue, he was very polite and was very nice handed me my damn ticket and vaya con Dios. Eh I'll fight it in writing. So cops here in Simi are not going to harass you unless you have a reason for them to do so. They simply wont take crap but are very understanding, and patient. The community is very tight and everyone supports everyone, those who divide it are people with racial issues, but like every where you go, you'll encounter people like that. This happened in Wood Ranch. When the fires were happening a few months ago, all the firefighters were busy so they couldn't really send anyone. When the fires were extremely close to our fence, we had no choice but to call 911. The operator stated that she, "couldn't send any firemen, but would send a unit of police to our house". We joked among our family members, "what are they going to do, tase the fire?" However, two really kind officers came to our house and really comforted us as we watched our house almost burn in flames. We felt extremely safe the entire time. 10/10 would call them again. We were in involved in an accident at the light by Cocos restaurant on May 22nd. I cannot say enough about how caring and thorough the police were that came. There was a horrible accident outside our home tonight on country club drive in Woodranch. I called 911 I said where I live and the street name the woman kept saying I don't know where you are. I said the man is screaming in pain just send an ambulance. I repeated where we are. She said I need to know where. She wouldn't listen. I hung up and called again it was her she wouldn't listen I said just send someone can't you hear him screaming? I called 4 times she refused to send someone. I called the wood ranch fire department and the man said we will come now. They got here in less than a minute. I called the night watch commander at the simi police department she answered. Her name is Laurie and kept me on hold. I got the night watch commander and he just gave me excuses why she wouldn't send anyone. How many people die instead of getting the help they need when in a dire situation? Thank God for the fire department. I still love the simi police but they need 911 people that will put people's lives first and not some questionnaire before sending medical help. read more

I have dealt with the police a few times and each time the officer did not do anything. At this point I don't see why I should even bother calling them when they do nothing to help. A driver threw an object at my car and I was following it to get information, but a cop pulled me over while I was on the phone with 911 and the driver got away. Then the cop said she couldn't do anything to help me even though she let the other driver get away. I've lived here for 30 years and I'm extremely disappointed by the SV police. read more

In 2015 a golf product I had invented back in 1989 went to the women's Solhiem cup. I was a friend of captain Juli Inkster on facebook. She tweeted back saying the team loved the product. I had waited 25 years for the break. After the tournament I got a call from a Patrick Chase of Serpico Investigations of Simi Valley. He starts out telling me he has 5 people in prison and 23 banned from tournaments from the lpga. He ends the conversation with " well you sound like a nice guy, I'll go back and tell the lpga no worries" I asked him" what do you mean" he says back " well I guess Juli thought you were going to attack her at a tournament." I never let Juli think such a thing, but with my knowledge of many police, I wrote him back two emails and said many cops are sociopaths. he wrote back " no worries, we can talk at the Meijer tournament next year (2016) it's where I gave out 35 of the product a couple months before the Solheim started. Sure enough, a week later two sheriff come to my door and banned me from the Meijer. I told him Chase was lying about me, they didn't care to hear what I had to say. 5 months later, I'm searching the internet and find out where Chase back in 1998 had gotten in trouble for similar in Minneapolis where he was police captain. The woman, Teresa Graham returned my call and was so confident the guy would never work in security again said " He's unemployed trying to scare you" When she found out he was for real, she couldn't believe that anyone would have hired him, much less the lpga. I called many lawyers including Geoffrey Feiger and he wrote me a letter back saying I didn't have the money to fight the lpga. Chase either lied to the lpga about what I did, or put words in Juli's mouth, then told the lpga Juli feared her life. Trust me, I was very kind and not into threats etc. But a cop without a conscience to himself is a very dangerous man to anyone. The world needs to know the details and decide for themselves who was in the wrong. I contacted the Ventura sheriff and he told me that Simi Valley is not under their jurisdiction, despite being in the same county. I told him" that's probably why Serpico camped there, so no one could touch them" he laughed and said " you're probably right" On top of it all, I have posted over 200 comments just like what I've written here on facebook and never get any replies back at all. I believe he contacted facebook and had them filter my comments. There's an area on my settings that is grayed out where it says " activity that involves you" I cannot edit it, yet my friends can edit theirs. I wrote facebook over 30 times and they refuse to give me an answer. Please, help restore right over wrong. There must be more people out there that had trouble with Serpico Investigations. I believe he went to Juli and told her that she wasn't suppose to help me get them to the Cup and then told her don't have contact with me anymore and let him handle the rest. Chase has no business being in security when he's suppose to be a law enforcement officer and I did nothing to tarnish my name, but he says I did. Yesterday I had an experience with an officer that left and not so good impression on my 11 year old and myself. To rectify our feelings I went to the station and spoke with the Watch Commander Bill. Wow what a difference a little bit of communication with excellent listening skills went. He explained procedures from an officers prospective that help us understand what happens during a traffic stop. Bill was informative and understanding. Had we not talked I would have limit or stop going to the gym and taking my child to lessons. I come to Simi Valley because of people there providing great services instead of staying locally for the same great services. Thanks again Bill. I really appreciated our talk and your time given to this matter. My child felt great about our talk. There are good officers in Simi Valley. read more

I was writing some Yelp reviews and just happened to stumble upon our police department and couldn't believe they only had 2 reviews. Most likely because it's not something you would typically review on a site like Yelp. Well, my lengthy experience with them warrants a review. There are three areas in my life that have caused extensive exposure to the Simi Valley Police Department and I can't say I ever had a less-than-stellar experience with them; 1) I had a troubled teen boy, 2) I have an obnoxious, repeat-offender next-door neighbor and 3) I've worked with them on school board safety councils. It was the SVPD that made me realize I could never do their job. The patience and understanding required to perform their duties would have caused me a personal prison sentence long ago. I could never, ever, ever in a million years tolerate what they tolerate daily without smacking some idiot across the face for stupidity. . . or worse. 1)My son. A chronic troubled teen and in every instance the SVPD showed the utmost respect and tolerance. 2) My next door neighbor. They've been to our block a hundred times literally and, in all my interactions with them, again most professional. And 3) working with them side-by-side on public safety matters for the school district = sincere, dedicated, committed and unwavering. I still to this day find it so hard to believe that all badge-carrying members of the SVPD can remain so professional in the face of such ignorance, selfishness, stupidity and evil. It's so inspiring to know that we're being protected by top-notch professionals. They are the underappreciated heroes in our lives and should be given more respect. And, when they give you a ticket for a moving violation, it's YOUR fault so just get over it. It's about public safety. read more

I have lived in Simi Valley since 1986 - having moved here from Canoga Park. At first I had no interaction with the department, but that soon changed when 2 of my neighbors started almost nightly fights with their respective spouses. It was a nightmare - every night screaming and yelling with just about any profane word in the dictionary. That went on for hours on end - just about every night. Sometimes the wives would call the department, sometimes the husbands, other times their children or one of the neighbors would call just to get some peace and/or finally some sleep. I had many of knocks on my door from the officers to hear what I as a neighbor had to say about the complaints and was always treated with the utmost courtesy and respect any citizen deserves. Never did I observe them being other than respectful to the citizens in question. Sometimes they had to be firm by insisting that one of the offending parties leave the house for the night in order to make sure that the rest of my neighborhood got some sleep. I can only say that I have the utmost respect for those officers ( most I knew by name, because they were in this neighborhood so often) and have to command them for their patience in dealing with what I would call "total idiots". I know I live in close proximity to the department, but can only say, that when I called them for help to calm things down, their response was almost immediate (at the most 2 minutes) and ALWAYS friendly and professional!!! I thank every one of the officers that do their job every day and can only admire their patience - knowing I would not have that patience within me. Anne B. read more
