My wife and I come here for lunch every other weekend because we both love Chinese food. This location has great value and a wide selection of what you'd expect to see for a Chinese buffet. The taste of the food is great, I'm a personal fan of the fried rice. The staff are always friendly and attentive. My main and consistent gripe with this place is that the food is always cold. They sit on the warmers at the buffet line and you may be seeing steam but by the time I am sitting down at the table the food is cold. I mentioned this to the owner once and his response to me was "the equipment is working". I was happy to know that but disappointed that seemingly nothing could be done about the temperature of the food. The egg drop soup is always hot, ready, and delicious. I unfortunately have to leave a very negative review for East Gourmet. Every time I have eaten here, I have ended up getting extremely sick afterward. I initially wondered if it was just a coincidence, but this has happened repeatedly. I have gone to the doctor after becoming sick, and I was told that I had food poisoning. Because this has happened more than once after eating here, I am no longer comfortable eating at this restaurant. I'm sharing this review because I think customers should be aware of my experience. I hope the restaurant takes concerns like this seriously and looks into its food preparation and safety practices. I personally will not be returning. read more

So I'm from Texas. I go in and ask for a to go container. I go about my business and fill my container. I get to the register and she proceeds to tell me there a $4 charge for every 1/2 pound over the 2 pound limit per container. I said why didn't you tell me this BEFORE I started filling the darn thing. Oh there's a tiny little sign that states this ridiculous rule. I tell her I'm not paying extra. You should hand over the container and say oh by the way there's a 2 pound limit. She tells me you want to separate it....are you kidding me. I said I'm not paying extra she says you put too much. We were there June 3rd, 2026. The food really good but when we got there the staff kept looking at us, me especially. I'm in a wheelchair and have skin irritations, on my arms. It felt like they were judging us. ESPECIALLY when they spoke Chinese. When They kept following us around making us feeling uncomfortable and unsettling. When my son had pushed me around the buffet one wowan who i think was the owner, was standing close to where I was. She looking at me until I asked her if there was as problem raised my hands up shaking shaking my head a little bit as if asking her to ask her are we going to have a problem and looking her straightin her eyes . She shook her head really fast several times waving her her hands fast as well at shoulder level and said oh no. Then she walked away. It was $62 foe 3 people which is fair for there dinner service. When my son paid, not knowing my nephew had requested on requested one (which I will show the pics below this review)had asked for a to go container not know they he said he thought We went there to eat dinner to not feel UNWANTED. One gentleman was incredibly rude to me. I asked if there was chicken broth in the egg drop soup and a man working there literally yelled at me that "the egg is laid from a chicken!" When I clarified again that I was asking about the broth, he yelled again -- "the egg is laid from a chicken and there is chicken broth in it!" The rage in response to my question was totally unwarranted, especially because I asked very sweetly with 0 attitude myself. Food is relatively low quality, though there is lots of it and very cheap. Big buffet with lots of different options. From the basic items like sweet and sour, beef and broccoli, peppered steak, egg rolls, chicken rolls, teriyaki skewers, lo mein noodles, rice, egg drop soup, crab Rangoon, sugared doughnuts, etc. A little different things also like spicy pork or chicken, Mongolian beef, seafood items, garlic chicken, pot stickers, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed green beans, sweet and sour soup, etc. For the picky kids in tow there's nuggets, French fries, and cheesy casserole like things. There's an expansive dessert bar with fruits, jellos, cakes, cookies, and an ice cream machine that more often that not is working. I've noticed lately they put out smaller batches on the buffet more frequently, so it's improved and timing isn't a big deal. I however normally go early for super fresh and hot food. It's usually busy anytime of day but if you request to sit in the back it's quieter and less crowded. I don't mind the extra distance to the buffet. Service always meets expectations for a buffet; drinks stay filled, dirty plates are cleared, and the check made available. Some staff speak limited English but all staff are still very helpful, friendly, and polite. To-go orders are available from either a menu or from the buffet by weight. Well this buffet has been the only Chinese buffet in McAlester for a long time. There is a Chinese place across the street but for your money's worth it's best to come here. They have a pretty nice selection of dishes. They have seafood, broccoli beef, usually 2-3 different chicken dishes out at a time, egg rolls, lots of fresh fruit and my favorite, lots of desserts. Oh yea did I mention the ice cream machine! Yum. No buffet is complete without an ice cream right!? They are always busy inside but the wait for a table is not long, if at all. The employees are always nice and I always eat here when in town. If you're in the mood for some good Chinese food and can't decide on one dish, then come here and eat until your stomachs content. read more

Definitely don't go there. It's the pits and so is the staff and cashier. Cashier is very rude when you ask for a senior discount. He said you have to ask when you pay. Wouldn't answer our question, if they had the senior discount or not? The food was all not good. The peeled cooked shrimp made us sick. My husband had to run to the bathroom all night after eating it. Some of the other foods were not fresh. The rice and noodles were bland. This is a great spot! We stopped super last minute and upon entering we were asked to sanitize. You are required and enforced during trips to get food. My husband and I have frequented this restaurant for over 2 years now. When we first started the food was decent. The last 3 times we have been in the last year it has been very poor.
