I love stopping by Angel's on the way to visit family. I'm a big fan of their chicken fried steak sandwich and their pies. The make everything in house. My sandwich and fries were steaming hot and made to order. The pies were in a counter after being made in store. Food was good home cooking - hamburgers, homemade chili, chicken fried steak or chicken, breakfast all day. I ordered the chili with cornbread. Tasty with cornbread muffin (cake cornbread!) with cheese , onions and jalapeños on top. Husband had a burger with avocado and bacon with fries . Yum!! The folks at Angel's Diner are friendly , attentive. and hates working! I felt welcomed and appreciated as a guest in their home. Ambience is kitschy but in a fun way. The ticket was $27.48, I paid $ 40.00 cash, of course I need change. Brought back change, no 52 cents. They close at 9 according to sign, pre closing happens, but it seemed like there focus was closing. We arrived at 6:45 pm. The onion rings were thin, crispy and came with great tasting ranch, chicken fry was 2 decently sized pieces, roll & mashed potatoes (meh) with uniquely flavored pinto beans, catfish was great, kids enjoyed theirs. I was told about this diner by several people so I was looking forward to visiting. Getting into the place with the screwball service roads and construction was an issue but was quickly resolved. Parking was just fine. The interior is pure diner and it was comforting. I was seated quickly and my waitress could not have been nicer along with offering some recommendations for this first timer. My chicken fried steak dinner was good, the sides (mashed potatoes and pinto beans) were just ok, but my pie was just great...almost worth the trip on its own. For the price this was a good deal, throw in good service and unique setting so I'd say give them a try. read more

I was Travelling for a meeting in McAlester OK. Our group decided to meet for lunch prior to the meeting. We sat on the patio as a group and had our lunch. The patio was great and the view of antique autos was great. The service was good considering the crowd we had of about 14 folks. I ordered a Philly cheese steak burger and fries. Both were delivered hot and prepared to taste. The cost was surprisingly lower than expected when eating out while on the road. Hello, I was told by some people to go here as I'm from out of town for work. I love a good diner in a small town so let's try it. I saw the menu and everything looked yummy and I was interested in the appetizers. They candy steak bites were pretty decent and had a fun sauce. Also, my server was lovely but I forgot her name. This was 8/4/25 around 3:00pm. I decided on the basically Salisbury steak option. I noticed it said the green beans were fresh which that sounded like they might be crunchy green beans. Tbh I don't like crunchy green beans but I wanted to try them. After I ordered I noticed the large cans of green beans behind the counter by the grill. Honestly, we prob all prefer canned green beans, but saying they're fresh is a blatant lie. My food comes and my Salisbury steak is basically one of their hamburger patties with warm store bought brown gravy laid on top. The onions an peppers were cooked fine. The dang steak wasn't even cooked in the gravy.... I think we need to stop cutting corners and get back to good diner food with soul. I can tell it used to be that way, let's get back. read more

I am shocked by all of the positive reviews! After driving past Angel's for years, my boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner on a recent trip to Texas. We had high hopes due to the restaurant's proximity to the stock yards, but his steak was inedible. My chicken fried steak consisted of two deep fried burger patties. It was edible, but it was not a chicken fried steak. The mashed potatoes come from powder and the green beans are straight from a can. The restaurant was close to empty when we arrived, but the hostess walked us past all the empty booths to an addition in the back. This room was echoey, dark, and sparsely decorated in comparison to the rest of the restaurant. Our server begrudgingly agreed to let us move to a booth in the front room. Most people ordered strong drinks, which I imagine would improve the experience. read more

Service was great and the food was really good and big portions. While sipping on a Chardonnay and an IPA we spit a basket of fried pickles! Happy surprise they were spears! Super crunchy coating served with house made ranch! Delicious! I had the Marilyn Salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was tender and lots of flavor. If you like more chicken than greens the this is your salad. My BF had the #3 burger - Bernie's Cannonball BBQ Burger that was thick and perfectly cooked medium and juicy. We were so happy that the weather was cooler but the flies swarmed in when we got our food. I think if the fans were on would have helped. Tried out Angel's Diner as recommended by our hotel personnel. Sweet little place. Great service (thank you Brin), good food and cute atmosphere. I had the steak finger salad (with a few extras added like egg, avocado, bacon) and it was enough for two. LOTS OF PIECES OF TENDER STEAK FINGERS! My husband had the Duke of Earl sandwich, which he said was tender as well. The fried pickle fingers were not Salty at all. They came like 8 to our serving. There is an outside area as well if you smoke. I believe she said that they are even adding a Pizza oven soon. Anyway, do not hesitate to stop here if you are in the area. My friends and I stopped here on the way back from Canton, Texas. This place is so cute! I love all of the decor from the '50s and the two awesome Cadillacs out front. When I started looking at the menu there were so many choices I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to have to take some back home in the car so I asked if I could order from the kids menu. They told me I could. I asked the waitress what her recommendation was and she said the chicken fingers were pretty good. I loved this place service was great, food was really good when you're wanting a little home cooking or a great chef salad, the ambiance is a little overwhelming with décor but its meant to be a 50's diner so I get it. What a find! My wife thought the classic diner on George Nigh Freeway (Highway 69) south of McAlester looked like an interesting place to stop for lunch. You can't miss the classic cars and the giant juke box at the entrance. The service is good, and the food and prices are fantastic! We split a Surfin' Safari burger and an order of Cowboy Candy on our way to Texas (Wow! Do NOT miss the Cowboy Candy!), and we liked it so much we made plans to stop at Angel's on our way home!
