The server was nice and helpful. The free bread was really good. The side salad was decent for a simple side salad. I ordered the lobster ravioli covered in the "pink" sauce. It was 4 larger raviolis (about twice the size of an average ravioli) with sauce completely filling the plate and that's it. No veggies, no nothing else on the plate to make it look more appetizing. It tasted pretty good but not near worth the price. It was $20 for the lobster raviol meal w/salad plus one extra side salad. And we drink water. read more

It had been a while since we stopped by this place. Years ago, the quality was much better. We stopped in for a quick lunch. Ordered two lunch Parmesan chickens, and a calamari for an appetizer drinks was water. The sauce on the spaghetti was good. The Parmesan chicken was covered in sauce and it appeared to be something like a fried chicken finger. Very small little piece of flat chicken fried. The salad served with the meal was not fresh had a hint of brown around the leaves and it had no Italian pickled pepper or cheese, just lettuce, some finely grated carrot like out of a bag and one small slice of Roma tomato. I asked for a small portion of cheese, grated or a sliced piece. She told me there was Parmesan cheese on the table. The calamari was very light in color and straight out of a box. The marinara served with it tasted like it was out of a jar. The ambience was calm and peaceful. The fresh rolls are good. However, sadly, we were not coming to a bakery only. We were coming to eat Italian food. I would say the service was non-caring. They did bring the food. They did get order correct just nothing over the top. read more

Meh. That is the best way to describe this place. Bread was not fresh. Then when we ordered I asked for the house dressing. It was a tomato basil dressing. Interesting but putting it on white lettuce really didn't do it any justice. Ordered the Bruschetta as an appetizer and it came with the meal and it was a mess. Looked like they just threw it together. Not good. Now to the entree and had the Shrimp, Chicken and capers tortellini. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever. The shrimp and chicken were cooked. Other people eating had Lobster Ravioli, Baked Ziti, Eggplant Parmigiana and Pasta Trio. Needless to say no one was impressed and I asked them to grade it. Each said it was a 3 at best. I might be harsh but I just had outstanding Italian a few weeks ago and this place was not even close. read more

4.5 I'd say. Well, searches for food there wasn't much around but this place popped onto the map. Just fair warning, doing google maps trying to reach the place it'll lead you onto the road. I would suggest dropping a pin somewhere in the parking lot to the west of this location to actually reach here. Been here two nights now, and service has been on point. Water refills and check ins frequently. The first night I went off of waiter suggestion. The second was my own pick. So far I've tried the chicken genovese, and the raviolini delicate with broccoli and zucchini added. Personally, I liked the genovese more than the ravioli but both were good. The brandy cream sauce along with the portobello slices just hit some really good notes. I think the only thing I wanted more of with it was really more portobello mushrooms. It wasn't a matter of balance so much as they were really tasty. The chicken was cooked well but everything really crooned to the sauce more than anything. The ravioli was good. The vodka sauce and the sundried tomatoes were the predominant flavor. The veggies along with everything else gave more bite to it I think. The ravioli were good but a little too al dente. Honestly, the stuff here works. I'd say I liked this more than anything I've had for quite a while in terms of italian food. Give it a shot if you're anywhere near. read more

This is hard. I've been here two other times and loved it, but today it's a failure. My friend ordered Bruschetta and what they have her was onion bread with a little bit of tomatoes. Two of us ordered sweet tea and one got water and it all tasted DIRTY. None of us took any drinks to go - we barely drank what we ordered. I got the lobster ravioli and it just tasted boring. One of the waitresses came up to us and apologized because apparently they had staff call in but things like the weird bruschetta and the dirty tasting tea couldn't save this. I was really sad because I've bagged about this place. read more

Stopped through w/the Fam on the way back from eclipse watching in Broken Bow. Our group enjoyed veal piccata, spaghetti and meatballs, and Minestrone soup. Today i ordered a pizza. Called it in and waited the twenty minutes to pick it up. Walked in to pick it up and it was sold to someone else. This is not the first time this has happened. Very poor business when you can't keep up with orders and what you're giving out. The staff acted like it was no big deal and another one said it's a problem they are having. It's not that hard to keep up with orders especially when there is only one table with customers. They have not been busy when I have been there to order or pick up a pizza. Someone at a gas station recommended Napoli's next to the McDonald's. This place changed names 3 years ago and we decided to go in due to the lunch specials sign up front. Did not disappoint... Food, service and cleanliness are all good. I got the chicken marsala and asked for spicy. The bread was great as well. SO GOOD. We came into town a day ahead of the 2024 eclipse and ordered pizza through doordash. They did accidentally give us a calzone instead of a salad we had also ordered, but my GOD it was all so good we could not possibly complain. We stopped in this evening for dinner and we're seated right away. The service was really great. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. The food was great too. I recommend getting the Chicken Parmigiano. The marinara sauce has a great flavor and it comes with a salad as well, so you'll definitely get enough to eat. The fettuccine Alfredo had a great flavor. Maybe don't get the chicken on it though - it tasted like canned chicken. The cheese pizza was great too. Super cheesy and had that delicious marinara on it. read more

Definitely my favorite restaurant food in McAlester. I've always ordered traditional entrees -- lasagne and chicken piccata -- and they have never disappointed. However, my favorite go-to is their pizza--and this east coaster knows good pizza. It's also an excellent value for the quality. They offer comfortable inside dining, take-out, or delivery via Doordash and UberEats. No liquor license yet so for now you may bring your own beer or wine. read more

Everything in this town is mediocre. Everything from Pete's to Modo. If you spent a good 30 mins you could whip up a better meal. I try not to be mean but as a restaurant you have to put out a product that separates you from your competition. read more

I placed an order on ritual yesterday for this restaurant and turned out they never received the order. Best Authentic Italian in town. Their Marsala ribeye is hard to beat and oh man the pasta dishes are awesome! Good tip: ask for the bread dipping sauce....its is good on their fresh hot rolls and we even put it on our salads!! oh my fav is their meatball.....I have never ate a more moist and soft meatball like this....PERFECTION. we enjoy the atmosphere and love the owners. read more

Great little location. Server was excellent and atmosphere was nice enough. Lasagna was excellent though the sauce could've used more garlic. Just a preference I think but the sauce had that nice tangy roasted flavor which was great. Chicken piccata is nothing to get excited about. They do not have beer or wine yet so bring your own! Bread knots are light & fluffy on the inside with a little bit of "chew" to the crust. I would love to have the recipe. Delicious! Unfortunately, there was no olive oil for dipping this time. We were looking for an alternative to the better known Italian place in nearby Krebs as we were passing through the area. We were so impressed with Modo Mio! Very flavorful, just delicious! Our party of six had the Calzones (my personal favorite), the pasta combo, spaghetti with hearty meat sauce, and sausage and peppers parmigiana! We all loved it!!! And the rolls were delicious too. Getting sick to death of this place. Foods usually pretty good. Although lately the fist piles of pepperoni in the calzone and Stromboli have gone to being pretty flat and sad. Times are rough I guess. What is most upsetting about the way this place runs is that the night crew cares about nothing more than getting out early. They say they are open till 9, yet try calling at 8:15 to place a to go order. If they answer they tell you they closed early. Yet they usually answer the phone or they're there if you show up at 8:15. But they still tell you they are closed. What's going on is they have a bunch if kids working at night that want to walk out the door at exactly 9:00 when they are supposed to have just closed. So they stop taking orders around 8 and do all their closing duties and walk out at 9 on the dot. If you want out at 9 close at 8. This makes you lose customers. They've done this to me twice in the past 10 days. I showed up to order at 8:15 and was told they're closed even though the door was open and they're all working inside. Then tonight I call at 8:20 to place a pick up order that should take 10 minutes. And get told they're "closed" again. Owner / manager needs to wake up and look. I bet they don't have one sale after 8 every night and I bet their crew walks out at 9 on the dot. Not coincidence. This is the last time for me, and I "try" to eat there about once a week. Food is going downhill as well. They've apparently been hit by inflation as well and have decided to skimp the crap out of ingredients now. Done with it. read more

All the five stars for other people are right! We go thru McAlester on the way to Texas and decided to stop on the way back. I've had the Italian (famous) places in Krebs but this one is the best and the real deal. They have the best red sauce I've had in a very long time. I don't know if they sell it but if they don't, they should. If we didn't live 2 hours away, we'd go at least once a week! So gooood! read more

Not your grandmas Italian. If your looking for a little heat then Chicken Diaovlo is your dish. My second favorite is the Chicken Piccata. Very creamy with a great caper taste. Bread is very tasty too! read more

As always we were starved and looking for a local OK place to hit for a late lunch when we came across @Furious P's review of Modo Mio Italian Restaurant. The review had us at 'Better than Italy' insinuation...that's a big claim for a little place in the middle of nowhere America. Having gorged Italian food in Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice & Milan, intrigued we were. We decided to turn around and go back looking for this place (mind u, in Oklahoma!). When we drove up to the restaurant, we second guessed ourselves based on the exterior appearance and drove away towards a Japanese place in the same plaza. However, wify felt that @Furious P's claims had to be corroborated & so we drove back to the restaurant once more. We both reconsidered one last time when we got to the door. BUT as soon as the door opened, it felt like we were walking into a little joint in Italy itself. The deco is Italian chic with mid centur-isque charm, cute but oddly Roman. As soon as we sat down, wify announced she wanted Limoncello Cake...& thus started our buon appetito :) I ordered Shrimp Siciliano and wify ordered off-the-menu, her fav Chicken Piccata. While we waited, they served freshly baked buttered bread rolls w/ herbed Olive oil dip. A bite of these bread rolls and we knew @Furious P had stirred us right. My Shrimp Siciliano was packed with flavor, oozing of lemon butter goodness. The added mushrooms and artichoke soaked up just enough flavor to make every forkful a satiating experience. Wify seemed immensely pleased with her Chicken Piccata as well since she saved her leftover for dinner instead of offering me to finish! :) We both certainly felt like we were sitting in a little town in Italy eating authentic Italian food. Our great server told us this was southern Italian flavors from Sicily area. Our last but most awaited dish was the Limoncello Cake. It arrived while I was uploading pix on yelp & when I looked down 5 seconds later, 1/2 the slice was gone and wify was smiling mischievously :) ... I took a spoonful of what was left & boy did that taste delish! The balance of the sweetness, lemon-ness and creaminess was a symphony in itself topped with the moist and succulent cake just pushed this slice of traditional dessert to a ridiculous level. I am not kidding when I say, it would be worth a drive or flight just to hv a bite of this slice of perfection...it was supreme. We chatted with the server, raving about their amazing flavors and then said our goodbyes. Few miles down the highway, wify realized she left her Togo box behind. Believe it or not, we turned back again to get it!!!! In the past, we have left things behind but we never went bk so this was extraordinary. Since we were driving back, we decided to try their chocolate cake as well. When we ordered a slice of the chocolate cake to-go, our hostess didn't even let us pay for it! To relish our fun experience, we decided to save the chocolate cake for dinner but 5 minutes outside the restaurant, the cake was devoured...sublime. So, while we can't say the food was better than Italy, we can say it was better than any Italian place I hv ever eaten in US & I am particularly putting u on notice, the big dogs.... Modo Mio was such a welcome serving of deliciousness! Incredibly flavorful food with fresh ingredients. My wife just said it best: "My belly is happy!" We are traveling through, and I was so worried about trying some rando eatery in rural OK. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! I'm a food snob, ok? Being from cultures known for our foods (I'm Creole and my wife is German) we have good reason to be so picky. The not perfect: There were a couple of minor disappointments, but the overall experience garnered the 5 star review. First, they had run out of fresh mozzarella. So, if you want a Caprese salad, get there early. Ask for your salad dressing on the side, if you don't like a swimming salad. And apparently this was a one off, but one of the servers brought our Tiramisu with what seemed like Hershey's drizzled on top. Thankfully, the masterfully prepared marscarpone shown through. Honestly, these are minor things considering location I'm guess fresh moz is hard to come by in remote Oklahoma! But it was worth it for what was to come. I had the Farfalla, my wife the Pasta Combo. Mine had fresh veges and a perfectly seasoned pink vodka-type cream sauce that was lovely. Hers was baked to gooey cheesy deliciousness. Alban's Modo Mio is perfectly placed delectable tastes. We couldn't understand why the bane of US foods, the worst of us, McDonald's, sitting just next door, had a line stretching in front of this amazing eatery. What a missed opportunity. Bottom line: highly recommend! Plan your trip through Oklahoma around stopping at this unexpectedly devine, dare I say authentically Italian, dining experience. read more
