My second time having breakfast at Nichols - the prices are right and the flavors are tight- 5 stars!!

I was traveling from Tulsa to Dallas on Hwy. 75 South and stopped in at Nichol's Restaurant on a Wednesday morning at 10:30. The directions on google maps took me to a residential area, but I eventually found my way to the right spot (the restaurant is next door to the HiWay Inn motel and across the street from the Phillips 66). The place was clean, cozy and packed with happy customers. The service was prompt and friendly. I had the egg breakfast with sausage, hash browns and biscuit & gravy. It was all delicious! We stopped in the very home town cafe (Nichols Cafe Kiowa,Ok ) reading a closure message on the entrance " We will be closed" for a funeral. The restruant was very cozy and comfortable and the staff above friendly! We ordered 2 different lunches. One special of the day Meatloaf, homemade mash potatoes, green beans and a dinner roll. One Cheeseburger basket. Fresh ground beef on a fresh bun with chosen vegetables and dressing. French fries- freash cut potatoes fried to a golden brown. There is only one way to describe each meal.. Stopped here on a whim for lunch while driving through town on a 1000 mile road trip. Small family owned cafe with very friend and fast staff. Menu offered typical choices such as salads, chicken fried steak, & burgers. We started out with an appetizer of fried pickles. If I hadn't already ordered a sandwich, I would have stopped after just this because the serving was huge. It was a friendly place with pictures of recent high school graduates. The two of us dined for less than the price of two fast food meals. I couldn't give it 5 stars because the restrooms were not in ADA compliance. You have to squeeze by high chairs to get to them. Small town country diner. Don't over think it. They got a great burger, with thick patties and good homemade fries. On Fridays they have an all you can eat catfish or fried shrimp (or both) with slaw, tater salad and beans. And it's all good. And it's only $12. read more

Nothing great about it. The BLT didn't have mayonnaise so it was dry. The daily special was Italian chicken, which is just chicken breast covered in cheap Italian dressing. The included dessert was a cut up cake left out on a table on the middle of the restaurant. Took a long time to get anything. Waitress wasn't attentive or friendly at all. Wasn't the worst food we have had in this trip but I'd drive a little farther if you can wait to eat. read more

This place used to be the Brass Rose restaurant. I am guessing that is a recent change because we visited here on April 18, and it was horrible. I will admit they were probably having a bad day and their server was on her first day. Our party of two waited about 45 minutes for our food and frankly I wish I had just paid and left. When I did try to pay, I was offered three different bills until they finally got to mine. And even then I was overcharged because they didn't bill the daily special rate. At that point, I just wanted out. It is a small place, maybe ten tables but every table was full of kids who are really going to suffer if they ever visit a big city restaurant because nobody is going to tolerate their home grown behavior. The gravy is some powder mix which I am confident if left to sit a minute would become a solid mass. I don't even know how to describe the hamburger steak. A hamburger patty that is supposed to have mushrooms and vegetables on it but they forgot them. And again, the steak gravy was too scary to try. If I can post some pictures, I will. We found this spot on our trip home from Tulsa. The service was good, the person was friendly. The bacon was delicious! The entire meal hit the mark. When we travel, we always try to support local, even more with today's issues. We would definitely eat here again on our travels! read more

Went in as l like small town diners n cafes. Wasn't too impressed with menu as everything looked "usual". So I got the grilled chicken salad. Was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was done very well. Good flavor. Their special of the day was chicken spaghetti so waitress gave me a sampling. It was outstanding. Found this locally owned restaurant early in the breakfast hours. Got the Spanish Omelette, my wife got eggs and chicken fried steak. Excellent meals! Excellent service! And, they are trucker friendly. Stop by if you're in the area. We will the next time we're rolling through. read more

Just a typical small town cafe run by people just trying to make a living. Bathroom is just fine. The breakfast was good, eggs were perfect, the ham steak was huge, and the price was right. People were friendly, place is clean. No problem here. read more

Good food at a good price! Their all you can eat fish Fridays are a must for catfish and shrimp.

My husband and I stopped on our way home. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. We both had the daily special (chicken fried steak w/white peppered gravy, green beans, corn, a roll, desert and a drink) yes, the food is your basic comfort food, but it was good. The staff is friendly, and prices are comparable. No, it isn't your big box chain restaurant, but if even if there had been one across the street, I would've still chosen this place. read more

Literally as home cooking as home cooking can get! My child's Mac and cheese was microwave kraft mac. My grilled cheese and ham was exactly that. Just like I used to make when I baby sat. It was 1:00pm and all the "DAILY SPECIALS " were gone so they must be pretty good! Clean bathroom although I didn't understand the sign telling people to not throw tissue in the "Stool".
