I had no idea this Plaza existed. I thought I was going to a free-standing Costco and was pleasantly surprised to see that the store is part of a complex. Located between 116th and 119th Streets off the FDR Drive, it's a breeze to get there with the #6 subway, or city bus. I took the First Avenue M15. There's multi-level parking, though not cheap from what I heard. Current retailers in addition to Costco include Aldi, Ashley Home Store, Burlington, Marshall's, Bob's Discount Furniture, Planet Fitness and a couple of medical concerns. Reading a friend's review, I guess I'm lucky that the escalators and elevators were running. Apparently, they're frequently out-of-service. Realistically, if the same shopping mall was outside of NYC, it likely wouldn't make it. But one's expectations change in Manhattan. read more

East River Plaza has a variety of stores, including Costco, Target, Aldi, Marshall's, Burlington, Ashley Furniture, and Bob's furniture store. There is a Planet Fitness on the 3rd floor and also a medical center on the 4th floor. Stores used to be open later, but now, due to crime, most of the places close early. Target closes at 8pm, and the other stores close by 9pm. Even the Planet Fitness that used to be 24 hours is now closing at 11pm on weekdays and 7pm on the weekend. I like working out at the Planet Fitness here since it's usually not too crowded and is maintained clean. The main issue seems to be that the escalator is often out of service. I usually then just go up the stairs by the parking area, but they should maintain the area better. read more

Excellent shopping area. Bargain. Easy access, buses and train. Burlington store, Costco Warehouse plus others. Cardiovascular Clinic newly opened in the Mall on E 116 St. entrance. Thankful when this mall was opened in East Harlem, Manhattan, NY. in 2010. read more

I'm true to my word. I said if I saw improvement I would update my review. Today the elevator was broken again but the improvements were outweighing that problem. Besides the escalators were working. They have repaved the front ground floor. There's colorful artwork now. There's plenty of signs guiding you to the stores. I've never seen garbage or clutter in the area. I noticed an abundance of security personnel today. That's a plus. This place gets crowded on the weekend. In all I'm maintaining my opinion that this shopping plaza is badly needed here. I'm so glad I have this a walk or bus ride away. Two miles round trip. read more

I was there today and there was only one bank of elevators working and NO working escalators. this is and embarrassment and major disrespect to the neighborhood . The elevators and escalators are constantly broken down and only fixed when everything doesn't work, the lazy elevator workers only fix things when they want, I see elderly people and disabled trying to get to their floor to shop or go to their dialysis appointments only to be so exhausted, some can't even make it and no one helps, the security in golf carts don't do anything but wander around, hide, smoke weed, totally useless, they should all be ashamed of themselves and those who hired them, WHAT A DISGUSTING JOKE THAT PLACE IS, bird crap everywhere, nobody cleans, just a bunch of lazy fools that do nothing and expect a paycheck in the end of the week, that mall is a dump and needs to be in better shape with real hard working people. read more

This place is a nightmare if you drive here to stock up on supplies from Costco, Target, and whatever other stores you shop at here. Traffic is backed up to who knows where when you're trying to get out. We usually don't use their parking facility for this reason (besides avoiding the parking fees). They also have curbside to load all of your goodies, but that's also a pain to get through with a lot of other angry New Yorkers. Fortunately for them, people keep coming back because they lease to the only Costco in the area. If you like witnessing chaos, this is it right here. read more

How can anybody hate on this place? This structure has brought many much needed jobs to the community here in the East Harlem area. It's a nice shopping center structure that was needed in this part of town which was grossly underserved. Easy to get to using the #6 subway line to 116th street and then walking over a few blocks. If loaded up with bags from all your shopping at stores such as Costco, Target, Aldi, Old Navy, Pet Smart, Marshalls, and Bob's Furniture there is a livery cab service set up here to get you home for a nominal fee. It's a nice perk and beats shlepping a bunch of heavy bags for blocks back to the subway. Nice view of the East River too, with a pay parking garage if you have a car and drive there. No food court here to speak of but an Applebee's just opened up next to it recently. That, or you can do as I do when in Costco and stuff yourself silly with all the free food samples they give out. Heck, I'll knock over children and old ladies to get to those free empanadas or mini meatballs! read more

This plaza fills a much needed gap in the Harlem area. The fact that it is located at the farthest most corner of the east side possible is one of it's biggest flaws and also it's saving grace. This place would be overrun like the streets of 125th St if it were anywhere else which is why I'm willing to make the trek over. One can easily shop without a crowd or the annoyance of being "sold" to Populated with a variety of major stores that are not otherwise within reach for those limited to public transport and looking for some convenience. Parking, on the other hand, is a dream. Drive in, lock up and drive out. Parking fees are standard for the area. There is a Costco Target Bob's discount furniture Montifiore Kidney Center Marshalls BestBuy Old Navy GameStop Probably some more that I've forgotten as well. Sure it lacks a Nordstrom or any sort of high end store but for some basics and essentials that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the local community. read more

This place has got the goods in terms of cheap, quality shopping. Costco and Aldi are great for food, Target is great for basically everything, and you also have an Old Navy, a Marshall's, a shoe store, a furniture store, and a Gamestop. My question is why did the Best Buy close down, and what are they going to replace it with? A strange concrete behemoth of nearly 500,000 sq ft and over 1,200 parking spaces. Contains a Costco; a Target; a Best Buy; etc. But I find the whole concept a bit ill-advised. Who profited off this deal? Who is it really serving? Manhattanites? People in Manhattan have the lowest per capita car ownership in the city. Who are all these parking spaces for then? One of the worst Parking facility for customers and merchants. I was going Petsmart at the lower level of the building at 730am to drop off my dogs. The whole lower level of the parking was completely full. There is nothing for Petsmart customers to park. When I talked to the parking garage staffs. They said, they have no controls. East River Plaza, Improve Your Terrible Website! I love Costco and I'm thrilled to have one near me now. The other stores here are also good. The food options are quite weak, unfortunately, although if it's cheap calories you're after it's hard to beat a Costco hot dog. BUT I just went to the mall's website to check what other stores are in it, hours, etc., and it is terrible. Extremely bare-bones, not user-friendly in the least, and certainly no information on special sales etc. as other mall websites have. I understand that some small amount of money would have to be spent to maintain a website, but I think it would pay for itself quickly in additional business -- especially if you let people sign up for notification of special sales, new stores in the mall, etc. read more

Never use this company for parking. These people are awful. I have never been treated so badly as a woman in my life. The 'manager' Juan, is totally sexiest and a complete jerk to boot. They upgraded the parking system. When they did that our key fob stopped working. We did not damage it or loose it. (And if that happens I would totally pay-we charge 50 for ours) They charged us 25 bucks for a new one because their old equipment does not work with their new system...oh but first they accused us of not paying our bill, which is on auto pay. They should be fired. They are truly horrible people. Ok love being degraded on the phone by a chauvinist, whilst being told no matter what the problem is, it is your fault. I run a company that uses key fobs, the deactivate all the time. This is not the fault of the person using it. Total scam. Oh and the manager hung up on me while I was talking very calmly to him...even though he was mansplaining about how 'their system was just upgraded so it can't be them' newsflash! It's not working BECAUSE your system was upgraded. You can say goodby to your monthly payment. You just lost corporate a Hefty fee yearly. read more

Broken elevators and escalators all over. Trash blowing around the sidewalks. Long waits for "El Barrio" car service. Good stores at this mall. Just a shame they can't actually manage the mall itself. If the contracted car service cannot keep up with demand, perhaps you should consider another service? read more

I have lived in NYC for 12 years, and I can't say enough about how great it is to have access to this shopping center. Helpful for anyone uptown. You can save money getting the things you need at Costco and Target -- especially standard grocery items. A bonus is they have a clean and professional livery car service ready to take you home with all your bags. read more

A much needed Plaza for East Harlem. It's easily accessible by the M116 bus, it leaves you across the street from the Plaza. You can also take the 6 tain to 116 street and walk east. The employees do a great job of keeping the area clean. Taxis come often. Beautiful views of the river. read more

Such a convenient plaza filled with essential stores that brighten up the retail community of East Harlem! Even while living closer to Central Harlem than further east I still find myself walking to the Target here to do my weekly supermarket runs. The plaza is clean and the crowds seem busy and keep to themselves. No trouble whatsoever. I come here mostly for Target and haven't fully utilized the other stores yet such as the Petsmart and Costco. Nonetheless I find this plaza to be an obvious gem within the East Harlem community! read more

This is by far the worst kept shopping plaza. Elevators are always broken. I go here on the weekends because my mother lives close by and I can attest to the elevators always being down. One weekend all 5 elevators were out of service! Most weekends 2-3 are out of service. It's the weekend before a holiday and today only two elevators were working. There was a long line just to get on an elevator! It's horrible considering the number of visitors daily. How could you charge for parking and then people need to climb stairs or take escalators with their bags to get to cars parked on different levels? They really need to get it together. I'm inclined to just stop going to avoid the frustration of broken and/or crowded elevators. Not worth thr frustration! read more

There's always a cab service which is convenient if you're loaded with stuff. Sometimes the up or down escalators are blocked off and aren't working for some reason and this is frequent so people are stuck taking the elevator which takes AGES but overall I give it 4 stars read more

East River Plaza would have gotten four stars from me for just having Costco-- if only the escalators here would work! Sometimes it's the escalators leading to the second level, sometimes to the basement, sometimes to the top levels. And the elevators are slow, slow, slow. Still, it's great to have a Costco in Manhattan and one staffed by friendly happy employees. This shopping center also has Target, a draw for many and my favorite bathroom stop here, and Aldi, a place to dash in if you don't want to buy the huge quantities at Costco. Clothing discounters are Marshalls and Burlington and there is also an Old Navy. For Pet owners there is Petsmart and even and Old Navy. What East River lacks is a level for eateries and except for one Applebees, you pretty much have to eat at Costco or Target if you get the munchies. But you get an excellent view of the river and there are a few benches for those who want to rest sore feet. Around Christmas there is even a huge tree you can admire. Parking is plentiful but not free. But you can even rent a zip car located in the lots. Those of you who need a taxi, there's a stand to hail one and at busy times, a line. And for those of us who use mass transit, the M116 picks up just over on Pleasant Avenue. Truly a worthwhile addition to the nabe since it first opened a few years ago. I truly hope the retailers here continue to do well for the jobs they provide for the neighborhood and the convenience for me. read more
