Tip: The Monday special that features all-you-can-eat pasta when you buy a drink is decent. You can stuff yourself silly for $19.99 when you buy a drink. It also comes with unlimited soup, salad, and garlic homeloaf. I don't frequent East Side Mario's a lot. In my lifetime, I've been at two locations and they are both permanently closed. It's not the best streak. Markham used to have one facing highway 7 at CF Markville Mall. It closed for good in 2018. Last year, the building got torn down. I don't get the seven-year delay. I visited the location near Dixie and Dundas Street East twice. One was for a Yelp event. The other was with colleagues. It was sad to see it empty for a few years. It's now open under a different restaurant name. I pass by this East Side Mario's on the south side of Steeles Avenue West often. Its patio had a bunch of daily specials advertised. I decided to take advantage of its Monday special a couple of Mondays ago after work. There is lots of parking in the lot. I parked. There's an entrance for takeout. If you want to dine it, you enter the doors that face Steeles Avenue West. Darya greeted me. She ended up being my server, doing bar and server duties at roughly 3:30 pm. She was great and super efficient. I got seated at a comfy booth by the bar. I got to watch various poker and basketball games during my time at this eatery. The special on Monday is all-you-can-eat-pasta when you buy a beverage. My getting a beverage is standard whenever I am dining in, so I easily said yes to this deal. I don't do well with unlimited pasta. I love pasta, but I can't down copious amounts of it. I'd end up in a carb coma and someone would need to get an Uber to get me home. I'd then need to figure out how to get back here to fetch my car. This meal came with all-you-can-eat soup, salad, and garlic homeloaf. It's quite the deal For $19.99. Out of all these items, I thought that I'd do well with unlimited soup. I don't have issues hydrating and downing liquids. I had never had any soup at East Side Mario's in my life, so I was game. I ultimately ordered these items: - Diet Pepsi - Garlic homeloaf - Spaghetti and Mario's meatballs - Creamy potato bacon soup - Italian wedding soup - Roasted garlic tomato soup I got my Diet Pepsi to start. It was cold and yummy. I got a refill during my stay here. The garlic homeloaf came out first. I liked that it wasn't massive. I slathered butter on each slice. The bread was warm and yummy. It wasn't super garlicky, but it was a nice starter. I'm glad that I didn't get another homeloaf. My bowl of spaghetti and Mario's meatballs had arrived. It was huge! The spaghetti was al dente. There was lots of bright tomato sauce that coated every spaghetti strand and meatball. The tomato sauce needed more garlic. Then again, I'm a bit different, wanting so much garlic that I ward off humans from talking to me. The meatballs were yummy and perfect. I had all three soups available. I had no problem enjoying them. I am a soup person. I wish I had had them sooner because they were all excellent. I started off with the creamy potato bacon soup. It was so comforting. It was like having a baked potato with bacon, but without any slicing or chewing. I loved it a lot. I then got the Italian wedding soup. The mini meatballs melted in my mouth. I loved the chicken broth with confetti pasta and spinach. It was excellent. The surprise for me was the roasted garlic tomato soup. It was sweet and garlicky thanks to the roasted garlic. The veggie broth had basil, fennel, and a touch was sweet cream. It was delicious. I'd go back for the soup alone. I had the trifecta and I keep thinking about returning for them. My server said that I did well with polishing off the soup and the rest of my meal. I was too stuffed to even look at the dessert menu! She brought the payment machine to my table. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I used the women's washroom before I left. It's located in the back right of the restaurant when you first walk into the eatery. It was clean and nicely maintained. I'm glad that I can finally say that I've been to an East Side Mario's, likely snapping a seven-year streak of not visiting one. I'll be back for more deals and good eats. Wednesdays have a $15.99 pasta or pizza deal, so I'll probably take advantage of that special next time. (409) read more

I would have never come here if not for a gift card, and was pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive, with a smile. The robot going around was amusing, and overall, just a comfy place for a casual family meal. The food portions were quite generous (we had plenty of leftovers), and there was good variety. Not East Side Mario's hiring a new manager who's actually making the experience a hundred times better than before! Listen, we come all the time regardless of the service because the food is kid, friendly, filling, and affordable. We take each visit with a grain of salt because of all those things that I mentioned. But today, the soup was hot, the salad was cold and the portions were very generous. Located in the south west corner of Dufferin and Steeles. This location has a huge parking lot and plenty of seating options. The takeout door is at the back facing the lot. The crew is plenty efficient and friendly. The decor is nice and has different zones for different enjoyments. The bar area has plenty of screens to catch up on the sports along with great food. I honestly don't think this washroom has ever been cleaned. The entire washroom smelled of urine. The stalls walls had layers of grime and have obviously never been cleaned. I felt like I was at some road side washroom on a busy highway( one that I would note to never return to). I expect better cleanliness when spending an average of 30$ per person for dinner. Once we arrived, we noticed it was very unclean and there was a dead rat on the sidewalk toward the entrance. After seeing all the bad reviews, I was hesitant to come here. I heard there was a deal going on to getting a free second pasta to take home and I also had a gift card so I decided to give it a try. I heard it was recently renovated and the interior was nice! It was clean and spacious with an open concept. There was also a sit down bar area. I came here on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy, we got seated right away. We ordered the Bacon Carbonara Pasta and Veal Parmigiana. Both meals came with ayce salads or soup & toasted garlic bread. Their bread was delicious and we kept asking for more. The pastas were okay but not the best, it was slightly bland tasting. The portion sizes were also huge and I had to get it to go. After paying, they gave us 2 free pastas of our choice! Overall, it was a good first experience trying this place out, the service was great and the lady that served us was very nice and attentive. This was my third visit to this location and to be honest I dont know how they're still in business. Over the last few years nothing has changed, the food is insipid at best and service has been terrible with a complete lack of attentiveness along with a total lack of facility upkeep. On this occasion the restaurant was virtually empty yet somehow my waitress was rarely ever seen except to take our order and give us our bill. No refills were offered at any point and we were made to feel like we were a burden. I felt our waitress had other things better to do than serve us or even ask how out meal was. Our starters came and we didnt have cutlery, no one was on the floor for a good 20 minutes I had to chase down another waitress and ask her for cutlery even she didn't bother to get us any. Eventually about 30 minutes after our starters arrived at the table I manager to find a supervisor only after waving my warms around like there was an emergency haha. Once our entrees arrived I noticed my lasagna was completely empty, only the top had sauce and cheese, there was literally nothing in between the pasta sheets. I was shocked that the kitchen would let at dish that clearly didn't meet standards out. I showed this to the manager and she simply said she would take it off the bill. No genuine effort was made to make our experience any better at all. And to top it off the bathrooms were in disgusting condition completely dilapidated and without any soap or hand towels. I'm going to reach out to corporate headquarters, I feel an immediate change in management is needed. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

Went for chicken parm and big bowl salad after seeing advertisement on TV featuring big bowl salad. Is one on Mavis in Mississauga. When i gleefully ordered the big bowl salad the waitress informed me they had just removwd it from the menu the day before. I was unhappy to say the least as i had gone there based on the TV ad for the big bowl salad. The same ad is still being run as i saw it again afterwards. Last night I decided to go to this restaurant to eat dinner with my family. I notice they change the interior of the restaurant for the worst. You can hear everybody conversation due to their new open concept theme. The waitress arrive quickly to take my order but she didn't take it properly. So my father in law had to chase her down and bring her back to the table to take the order properly. It took over 20 minutes to receive our order. The food was edible but tasted like it was procured at hospital. Half way through eating, a man with a portable electronic piano, was sitting near the food preparation area at the front the restaurant. I believe this was supposed to be the night entertainment but I beg the differ, it was tortured and gave me a severe indigestion and a migraine headache. The man was screaming off key it sounded like screeching nails on a backboard. This man had no talent at all. I called the manager over asking him to stop this infernal racket. But he said I was rude. To make matters worse I never received any refill on any salad and bread. In order for me to get a refill I had to asks for the manager again. At this point I was frustrated with the whole experience and I am determine never to go back to that restaurant again. Heed my warning, don't go to this location. We were starving and decided to come to east side mario's. Well, the wait was only about 10 min. I think they we're short staff because it seemed to me that the our waitress was serving quite a few tables and also running he bar. I asked for water and never received it. I did get my drink with bread and then the unlimited salad. I had to remind her for my water. We are still waiting for our entree. The service here is very slow and I will not be coming back. It took a few minutes to get seated even though there were numerous tables empty but we brushed that off because it seemed like they didn't have a hostess/host at the moment to greet and seat us. When we were seated, we ordered our food but ended up getting our food before our drinks. We had to ask three times for our waters. Usually at a restaurant, drinks should come out first so that was the first red flag. When our pastas arrived, they were overly oily and the pasta was overcooked. It was also soggy. The food was rather disappointing as well as the service. This location was really dusty and dirty. Overall, my family and I most likely won't be returning to this location. Went in a date with my boyfriend last night there. He ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and when it came they let us know the dish has changed from the menu and the scallops are now mini and not bacon wrapped. Seemed unprofessional not to have the menus up to date. My meal was fine but my boyfriend said the scallops were gritty and he felt they weren't properly washed. The server said she'd get a a manager and even after making eye contact from across the store, the manager never came over to apologize or speak with us. The place was pretty busy on a Thursday night so my fiancee and myself decided to sit at a bar table. Had we wanted to wait in the queue it was around an hour and a half. Luckily out of the corner of my eye I saw a spot open up and we nabbed it. Not bad tasting food and plenty of flare to make this place feel like an Italian restaurant. However, they apparently spent a lot of money on the decorations because the prices are just a smidge high, even for being in a city like Toronto. When I look at the Starters section and I see that an establishment is selling garlic bread and cheese for 7.50$, an item that some places give away free as a side to compliment your dish, something is askew. The pasta dish I ordered came out quickly and tasted good, I just wish I wasn't staring at a tasty plate of flour, water, chopped tomatoes, various herbs and spices for 14 dollars. The serving staff was prompt, friendly and knew their information on specials. The bartender had many suggestions on different drinks he could whip together and all in all we had a great time here and would probably be back again at some point. read more

My Pizza was okay but the salad my friend got had the whole stock of lettuce. Also the pasta was drenched in the oil. I used to love this restaurant but I'm afraid the quality is slipping. I used to go here at least once a month but I think moving forward I'm going to spend my hard earned money elsewhere. Firstly the server didn't even tell me about the "take the second meal home" promotion that ESM's spends so much time and money promoting. After I ordered my meal, i called over my serve and they said "Oh ya we have that promotion going on but the meal you ordered isn't part of that promo". When my meal came out they asked if I wanted parmesan cheese, I said yes, they went back to the kitchen to retrieve the cheese and never returned. My chicken Alfredo fettuccini was extremely bland and tasteless and the pasta was over cooked. If management's willing to provide me with a gift card, I'll give this location another chance.
