We received vouchers from the Marriott so we had to come. The restaurant is actually in the lobby of the downtown Marriott hotel. The large restaurant with a huge bar was quiet at lunchtime. A waiter was very attentive, but nobody else was here. There were large televisions all around us showing the news, sports, Judge Judy ... The lunch we started by sharing the small plate of cheese curds with chipotle ranch. The cheese curds were covered in a beer, batter and deep fried; too good & rich! A main course with the Thai let us wraps with grilled chicken, soy ginger, crushed peanuts, Thai chili, sesame seeds, scallions, and grilled vegetable vegetables. The lettuce wraps were amazing full of flavor and crunch and more than enough for lunch. But, it's a vacation & we shared a piece of the warm goey butter cake smothered in ice cream. which didn't disappoint. read more

Well, decent enough for a business diner at a hotel. Many tables available and nice bar area too. I chose a nice combination of lobster cake and chicken. Decent meal with no surprises. Very spacious restaurant with lots of seating and a huge bar. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were a little under cooked, but had the perfect crunch and seasoning. The Mac had peas in it but our waitress even asked if we would like to exclude them, I appreciated her asking, and the flavor was great and very creamy. The burger was very standard and the fries were crispy! Overall for the price it cost the meal didn't stand out. We were seated far back towards the hotel, it was strange considering the rest of the restaurant was quite open, and the closer to the back the ambiance starts to disintegrate, less natural light, less artwork, less of the nice restaurant vibe. I'd consider seating more where the art work and lighting are when it's that available. read more

My friend and I decided to come here after a nearby Irish restaurant's kitchen wasn't open until noon. Turns out we made a good choice. East Town had fish plate specials for Friday. My friend and I both ordered the baked tilapia (it comes with potato pancakes but my friend was allowed to substitute fries). The potato pancakes were nice and crispy (they were accompanied by maple syrup, though I don't think it needed them). The baked fish was not bad, slightly overcooked but good flavor. The cole slaw wasn't bad either. But the real star of this lunch was the French onion soup. The flavor was absolutely incredible - savory rich brothy soup, soaked up by bread, underneath a layer of baked cheese. The service was amusing - when asked if they serve Diet Mountain Dew, the server responded "That makes no sense!" As much as that had me busting a gut, the service was great. Our server Stephanie was amazing. She gets 5 stars. The bartender gets 5 stars as well because my spicy margarita was fantastic! I did witness the manager being rude to his employees and that turned me off to him so he should do better. We ordered cheese curds-very yummy and crispy, French onion soup alright. I order the steak. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors were great albeit on the salty side. Fried were delicious. Husband's burger was okay. The ambiance was really great. Wow! For service. Our meal didn't start out well due to a few overcooked items. Accidents happen, though, and the team was quick to remedy all of it. What else can you ask for when something isn't right? The pretzel is huge and has the perfect finish of dark brown crust and extremely soft. Paired with beer cheese and a really good mustard, you'll be happy. The Double Barreled Burger was outstanding. East Town Kitchen and Bar is designed eloquently and well curated. Upon entering you're promptly greeted and the restaurant features several options for seating. For starters I had the lump crab hush puppies and they were good but kinda over whelming for the pricey. The flavors were there but the lack of crab at $20 was lack luster. I had the half fried chicken for my entree and it was better than normal but not rang worthy. Overall I think I simply ordered the wrong items as this place was lively and the staff was super friendly. I would give them another try but would avoid those two options. read more

This was a very good dining experience in downtown Milwaukee. It's located at the Marriott hotel, and reservations are easy to make online. I did stand in the reception area for quite a while before anyone helped me, but after that mishap the service was very good. I had the Caesar salad to start which was really tasty and fresh and perfectly tossed with dressing. I had the pork chop entree. A very thick but amazingly tender chop served atop very fresh and tasty vegetables. For dessert I had the cookies and milkshake. The cookies were macadamia white chocolate, warm, and delicious. The shake was a bourbon vanilla and not overly sweet. A perfect match. Overall this was a very delicious meal in Milwaukee! I recommend it! read more

I don't even know where to start. I should've read more of the reviews bc this was definitely not the move. Nobody in front to come seat us. We ended up walking into the dining area on our own before they finally came up to us. Waitress spilled a substantial amount of water when setting our cups down- no apology or even offer of napkins, we had to ask for some. Food was under seasoned and our table was literally the only one that had no salt or pepper on it. The silverware was dirty- I had to ask for another knife because the one they gave us was dirty and had chocolate or something disgusting on it. Also (not within the restaurant's control) the people sitting next to us were extremely annoying. Had to listen to some drunk lady cackling at the top of her lungs the ENTIRE TIME!!! Just don't even come here. There are so many better places. read more

Date of visit: September 24, 2023 A friend dragged us on an earlyish morning walk near the Lakefront with the promise of breakfast afterwards. Since we were looking at doing the trail near Pier Wisconsin, I confirmed that the establishment previously known as Milioke was now operating as East Town Kitchen & Bar, and would be a good spot to try, see if it was as good as its predecessor. The visit started out well, with a prompt greeting and essentially our pick of tables. Victoria, our server, was very personable and friendly, answering menu questions and making suggestions along the way. From there things declined, unfortunately. Victoria became preoccupied with setting up a large table for a party that was apparently slated to come in later and we waited a fairly long time for water refills, more coffee for me, and then our food. The restaurant was not busy so the wait is not easily explained. When the food did arrive, it was quite good. I really enjoyed my Cereal Pancakes, the whipped cream especially! But there wasn't enough syrup for the pancakes and by the time Victoria came back, I had given up and finished them dry. Our friend ordered a side of fruit, but that never came. Thankfully it didn't appear on the bill, either. All in all, not terrible, but it could have so easily been great! read more

The Bloody Marys were disgusting, way too many spices, it tasted like you were licking a spice rack. We had two sips and couldn't stomach it. The food was sub par at best. I was so happy we stopped in to East Town! We wanted cheese curds before leaving town and luckily they were on the small plates menu that is available in the afternoon. That and a soft pretzel were a perfect afternoon snack. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the bartender was so kind to make me a mocktail after I asked about NA beer options. The space is lovely - it was quiet on a Thursday afternoon, but I'm sure the place gets a good happy hour crowd and I think they have private rooms that would be perfect for a little get together or business meal. I liked this restaurant. It had an industrial feeling and it can get loud. However, my burger was cooked perfectly and very juicy. The French fries were just the way I like them ~ served hot and crisp on the outside. Brunch selections were a little limited and I had never heard of Fruit Loop pancakes~but they serve them. Staff was very friendly and I found it a little confusing when told to sit anywhere but there were reserved signs on all the tables. Saturday night before we went to the Riverside theater to see Fortune Feimster at the Riverside theater, we had dinner at East Town kitchen and bar. We started off with a few of their signature craft cocktails. One of the most unique cocktails I've tested, is the "Snap Back G&T". On a sidenote, I would love to have been in on the conversation of how you think making a snap pea simple syrup is a good idea. But it was a great idea! So to whomever had that conversation, thank you very much. For starters, we ordered the brussels sprouts, which I would highly recommend. They were delicious. There were four of us for dinner, and we each had something different. Each dish was great. My husband and I both ordered the double barrel burger, which was absolutely fantastic. Their French fries are perfection. I had made a reservation for 5:30 pm,we arrived shortly after 5 o'clock, and we're warmly greeted and told to sit anywhere we would like to. The service was amazing. The people were fantastic. I have no bad things to say. Except one small problem. Be careful which tables you sit at some of the low tops are a little wobbly. We actually had to move. Lol. If you are looking for a great solid dinner before going to the theater, I highly recommend East town. Would definitely go there again. Also, after dining with them, they sent me such a lovely and warm email. I've never had a restaurant do that before. They truly are top notch. That is attention to detail. read more

We were staying downtown and needed a quick breakfast within walking distance. We walked a couple blocks to East Town Kitchen & Bar, which ended up being exactly what we were looking for. We started the meal splitting biscuits, which were pretty dense but overall really good. Following that, we all got different dishes. I got the biscuits and gravy and it was top tier. The gravy was flavorful, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and the hash browns are some of the best I've had. Everyone else I was with loved their food, as well. The service was quick, the food was good, and the restaurant was pretty. Overall, I would highly recommend swinging by for breakfast. One tip is that you have to enter the Marriott to get inside even though the signage is on the side of the building. read more

Visiting Milwaukee to drive up to Green Bay for a football game. We had to find different places to eat as we were staying in Milwaukee for 3 nights. East Town was within walking distance from our hotel so we decided to take the short walk and try it out. The place is pretty good size and it had a brewery feel to it but I don't believe it's a brewery. The menu is not that big with few appetizer selection, burger and checking sandwich and salads. But over all the food was good. Family friendly place, we asked if they could make a grilled cheese (which is not on the menu) for one of our kids and they had no problem doing so. The chicken sandwich was really good just wish it was a little bit bigger. The double barrel burger was great! And their twist on the calamari was spot on. read more

Well, that's a bit unfair. The bar is awesome and maybe I'll post another to stan them. But the food ... Did you ever wish you had that can of WD40 close at hand to fix that squeaky hinge? Well, order the breakfast hash browns and a baggie. Scrape the 'potatoes' into the bag and then let it drip over the hinge and you'll be set. The toast was good-ish and the scrambled eggs were like eating Styrofoam only drier. The bacon at least was less greasy than the sickly spuds. They were so bad my sweetie gagged, ran up to the room, and poured boiling water down her throat. Seriously. The staff were gracious and very nice as all Wisconsinites are, I just wish the food followed that example. read more

The food is amazing! I had "The Worlds Best Chicken Sandwich" (as it was described in the menu) and the Butter Cake for dessert. The chicken sandwich was huge! It was crispy and delicious with a honey chili seasoned sauce included on the side. Also came with a generous portion of some of the best breaded French fries I have ever had. The butter cake was heavenly. A little on the small side (maybe I just wanted more because of how good it tasted lol) Baked in a small cup, it had a crispy crust, custard filled center and topped with vitally ice cream... enough said!
